Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Our Lord has written
the promise of the resurrection,
not in books alone
but in every leaf in springtime.

Morning Devotional...

Jesus' Body Placed in a Guarded Tomb
John 20:1-18 NLT

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.  So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!"

So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb.  Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.  Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus' head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen.  Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.  (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)

Then the disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?"

"They have taken my Lord away," she said, "and I don't know where they have put him."  At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.

"Woman," he said, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?"

Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him."

  Jesus said to her, "Mary."

She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher).

Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' "

Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: "I have seen the Lord!" And she told them that he had said these things to her.

What makes Easter an important celebration in your life?

Jesus' resurrection is the key to the Christian faith.  Why?

  (1) Just as he said, Jesus rose from the dead.  We can be confident, therefore, that he will accomplish all he has promised.

  (2) Jesus' bodily resurrection shows us that the living Christ, not a false prophet or imposter, is ruler of God's eternal Kingdom.

 (3) We can be certain of our own resurrection because Jesus was resurrected.  Death is not the end--there is a future life.

  (4) The divine power that brought Jesus back to life is now available to bring spiritually dead people back to life.

  (5) The Resurrection is the basis for the church's witness to the world.
When you go to church on Easter Sunday, rejoice in what the Resurrection means to you.

Thank you Etta Sue.  How often we forget that there IS life after death.  Thank you for the reminder.

Etta Sue, what a great reminder of what Easter really means to us.  Thank you!

JESUS LOVES ME

Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow.
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.

CHORUS
YES, JESUS LOVES ME
YES, JESUS LOVES ME
YES, JESUS LOVES ME
FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.

Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go.
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.

CHORUS

Though I am no longer young,
I have much which He's begun.
Let me serve Christ with a smile,
Go with others the extra mile.

CHORUS

When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song.
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near."

CHORUS

When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love

CHORUS

I love Jesus, does he know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.

CHORUS

Praying for all the needs in here and the ones who did not write lately.  Al"  you get a double prayer for you and Marbeth.

Pat:  Interesting version that is new to me!  Thanks.  Where will you be spending Easter?

Here, we are getting up early and driving to Yuma, Arizona tomorrow morning to visit with a cousin from Washington.  He pulls his trailer to AZ just like his dad did for years and years but my cousin has been volunteering at an orphanage in Mexico for over 25 years, I think so!  He didn't want to drive to Tucson and we don't have any room for anyone to sleep at our rental - this is another story.  Weather was really rough today while driving in high winds, snow/rain and did I say very high winds?  This isn't Colorado guys, this is Arizona.  Up to a foot more of snow on the nearby mountain.  This is March & we always love this month - chilly prediction for the rest of the week.

I had to give up on another knit thing - really made mistakes and then thought they could be fixed, not so.  Knitting is a disaster for me.   :-[  Can't wait to get back to quilting.

We put our trash in little bags & our recycles in a basket then put it all outside the patio gate but....not at night or the critters like javalinas will get into the bag.  There are birds or other things walking on the roof all the time and it sounds like a person walking on the roof.  The birds here are so colorful that it is amazing; almost tropical colors.

JudyB

Carol you need Pat to help with knitting.  She is the expert.  Mom taught me, but I wasn't into it enough to learn what Pat knows.  Pat is amazing.

Good message at church today.  John 14 and Pastor Larry teaches by the verse.  I have learned so much from him.

RuthV if you check in...give me a call on Monday.

Marilyn That black lab email you sent me was too cute.  I love labs, but we have decided to stay with small dogs for a while.  Little Napoleon is 4 months old and Elizabeth is working with him every free hour.  He is a quick study.

Well I am heading to bed soon.  I will be praying for the needs here.

Without Christ's resurrection, would we have hope?

Well, Inky and I took a nap yesterday.  I was playing Spider Solitaire on the laptop and woke up!!  I put the laptop down and reclined and here came Inky.  Good nap.

Then I watched part of the Oscars.  I turned it off and went to bed but read this morning that Sandra Bullock got an Oscar!  Yay!  'Blind Side' was a superb movie!

Today is trash day and the trash is already out.  Then Ivalou has rehab this afternoon and we have to come straight home since tonight is Photo Guild and I need to be at Kitty's by 3:45.  We go out to eat and then we have lessons at 5:30 and Photo Guild meeting is at 6:30.  The challenge this month is GREEN.  I cheated.  I went to DP Challenge and found their Green challenge to get an idea.  So I drove to the crossroads and took a picture of the stop sign.  Came home and color replaced the red with green, brightened the white around the sign and the snow on the side ditches and made the sky a brighter blue.  I like it !

That's my day to be.  It is suppose to get into the mid 50's and is bright and sunny.  Can't believe how much the yard greened up since Saturday when I walked around in the yard.  Spring is on the way!!!

I feel so sorry for my poor dog and his itching, I feel to blame for giving food that  caused this problem. I am doing everything  can think of to help him. Every day his fur is looking thinner and thinner on his neck and sides. It used to be so thick. I am sad..

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just a very quick drop by as have been very busy today and have more work on the Golden Games to get done this evening.  This will be the major part of the work for me until the games start and I have to put up the results of each sport.

This has been a beautiful, sunny and warm day here in Georgia.  Our garage door opener that we had fixed about 60 days ago is broken again so we have to leave one car outside as it is too much hassle to get it in and out of the garage.  They won't be here until Friday to fix it.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional.

JudyB

Larry I hope there was a warranty on the repair.

Jeanne Lee

Here's a little giggle to start the day:

Never Be Late

A local priest was being honored at his retirement dinner after 25 years in the parish.

A leading local politician and member of the congregation was chosen to make the presentation and to give a little speech at the dinner.

However, he was delayed so the priest decided to say his own few words while they waited:

"I got my first impression of the parish from the first confession I heard here. I thought I had been assigned to a terrible place. The very first person who entered my confessional told me he had stolen a television set and, when questioned by the police, was able to lie his way out of it. He had also stolen money from his parents, embezzled from his employer, had an affair with his best friend's wife, and taken illicit drugs. I was appalled.

"But as the days went on I learned that my people were not all like that and I had, indeed, come to a fine parish full of good and loving people."

Just as the priest finished his talk, the politician arrived full of apologies for being late. He immediately began to make the presentation and said: "I'll never forget the first day our parish priest arrived. In fact, I had the honor of being the first person to go to him for confession."

Moral: Never, never, NEVER-EVER be late.

*Thanks to Pastor Tim for this joke!*

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful day, so far, here in Georgia.  I saw the first flowering trees in bloom this morning and some folks said their Jonquils were about ready to bloom.  Spring is a beautiful time here in Georgia.

I've had a very busy morning, including walking a mile at the gym.  My cardiologist's nurse called to advise me of the results of the echo cardiogram I had done the other day.  Nothing new that I didn't already know in that I have congestive heart failure but the good news is that the ejection factor appears to be higher than my last test had indicated a couple of months ago.  It is between 25 and 30%, and that is about where it has been for sometime.  The determination of the ejection factor is done through a series of calculations the cardiologist makes from the test results and isn't a precise number.

Plan to take it easy the rest of the day as worked long and hard yesterday.

Jeanne, I liked your joke.

Judy, I do have a warranty on the repair but know sure whether I have to pay for a visit or not.

Marilyn

Beautiful day here too, however it is very cold at just 37° right now.

Keith has had to got o Eugene on business this morning, he left t 6AM, has to testify in court in behalf of a client whose contractor did not follow the plans or the codes. Shame on the contractor.!

Happy seems to be improving a little bit more each day. The fur is growing back on the side that was first affected, must be the effect of  changing his food to hypoallergenic and treating  him twice per day with topical medication and  giving him Benadryl twice per day.

I am sitting here waiting for  my pain pill to take effect, I hurt my back as I was cleaning the bathrooms this morning. It feels like  pulled something  on the left side. I could use some prayer if anyone has a mind to pray for me.

What was to be a day of leisure has turned out to be pretty busy.  First, I slept in this morning and then ate my breakfast.  I turned on the desktop to scan a photo that a classmate sent by snail mail.  The mouse wouldn't work.  I traced it down.  I always blame Inky for mischief.  The mouse was plugged into a USB port on the front of the tower so the cord was available to Inky's teeth!  I thought I could fix it but when I cut it in two and stripped the insulation, there were 5 teeny-weensy wires so I knew it was ruined.

So I changed clothes and went to Noblesville.  First I got my car washed.  Then to WalMart.  I found a new mouse and lots of other stuff.  Way too much stuff.  And got cash for my weekend women's retreat.

Then I went to Arby's to get a Market Fresh sandwich.   And then filled the car up with gas.  All of this was almost $300!!!  When I got home, I carried everything in the house and put the car in the garage.  I put everything away and started to have my sandwich.  Well, I had two roast beef sandwiches instead of one Market Fresh sandwich so now I have dinner, too!

Then I made a Green Tomato Pie.  I got the mouse working on the desktop and scanned the photo.  Love that mouse.  The USB thingy stores in the bottom of the mouse for easy transporting.  Plan to take it this weekend for the laptop!

I had gotten Ivalou a loaf of bread so took her a couple of pieces of pie, her bread and her mail.

I think I am finally ready to rest now!

It is a nice temperature out.  The snow is almost gone.  In fact, I am looking out my front window and from where I am sitting, I see no snow.  Standing up and looking out, I see lots of snow.  The front window is on the northside of the house and close to the house is lots of snow yet.  But I did turn off the heat pump and the solar heat.  It was too hot in here when I got home from Noblesville.

Marilyn ~ Last evening Cherie, a woman that rides with Kitty and I to Photo Guild, was telling us her Bijon Friese dog, Lacy, is allergic to something also.  Itching, her fur is coming off, just like Happy.  I told her that you found out it was the dog food.  But Cherie says she gets the dog food at the vet's and the vet is trying to figure out what Lacy's allergy is.  And when I read about your left side, I said a quick prayer for you.

I prayed for you as well Marilyn.

I am dealing with a bad case of bronchitis...again.  The van is down so the doctors appointment will have to wait.  I will be fine, I am in God's hands.

The girls school bus is late today.  There was a time when the parents would be notified.  Seems that is a blast from the past. It doesn't happen any more.

We still have a lot of snow,  Here in the country the snow is knee deep.  In the city which is west of us, you can see the lawns.  Spring will come.

Jeanne Lee

Marilyn, I'm praying for relief of your pain.

Etta Sue, you certainly did have a busy "leisure" day!  Those roast beef sandwiches are making my mouth water.   ;D  Glad you got your mouse problem solved, even if you did wind up spending a total of $300   for that and other "stuff".

Judy, I'm praying for your relief from the bronchitis, too.

Marilyn:  How is the back pain?  Are the prayers and pills working?

Larry:  That is great news on your heart ejection numbers being higher this time.  I wonder what makes the difference?

Jeanne:  LOL on your confession joke.  Confession is good for the soul - now where have I heard that?

Etta Sue:  Yummy - love your sandwich.

Youngest son just SKYPED us so that was nice.  Don is very tired from this drive back from Yuma today & we were in Mexico to pick up some antibiotics and even a little table for our deck, vanilla and that is about it.  High winds, trucks, rain, fog and blowing sand on the return trip - he had to nap a little and feels like he is coming down with something so we will stay put and try to get his energy back.

Did anyone see the rock slide onto I-70 west of Denver?  The interstate is closed and I think it is about an extra 200 miles for all the truckers and everyone - rocks as big as semi's fell and thank heaven that no one was near when that happened.

It is in the low 40's here and last year, it was into the 80's at this time.  Different this year, for sure.

What a surprise for dinner last night!  Not another roast beef and swiss but a fish sandwich.  I was thinking  :uglystupid: awhile ago that if I had asked them to give me two sandwiches and surprise me, they would have said, Ma'am, we can't do that!  But I wonder how many times they do do that?

I got an email from Tony last evening saying that Charlene is going to have a breast biopsy March 29th.  Hopefully it is nothing to be concerned about like the past breast problems but this is the first biopsy she has had.  This family is sooo tired of breast cancer.

Also my g-nephew, David, in the Marines in Virginia got shot in the foot during training.  I don't know if he shot himself or someone else shot him but he wants to heal fast and get back to Marine training.

Ivalou called last evening to say the pie was delicious...so delicious that I have only one piece left!!  Bad, Etta.  Bad!

Today is rehab and then Kitty and I are going swimming.  Then she has to be home by 4 something and I will pack for tomorrow's two day trip to Little Nashville.  That's all if it is God's will.  Do you have the idea that I read the passages in the Bible that says our future is all God's will?  We say we are going to do so and so in the future...this afternoon, next week, next month, next year but it is only if it is God's will.

Really cloudy out there today.  But it is 52°.  So that is light jacket weather and clogs!

Etta Sue, you always seem so busy - you put me to shame!   ;)

It's chilly yet here this morning, but the sun is shining and it's warming up nicely.  There's still some snow, especially the dirty piles from plowing the roads, but that will also go eventually.  And then in another three or four weeks we'll start to see daffodils poking up.  And before we know it, we'll be griping about hot and humid weather.  We humans are never satisfied, are we.  :clobber:

Al Moak

Well, today is grocery shopping day at Winco Foods, our regional almost-wholesale discount market.  We could sure save money if we'd quit eating.

JudyB

Jeanne I have a strong dislike for the cold.  You will never hear me complain about the heat or humidity.  Summer is just too short in my opinion.

Al Moak

Judy, I think we need to put you down in Arizona for a few months.

Marilyn

Al I think Winco and the Grocery Outlet have much better prices than Walmart. I haven't tried Fred Meyer's yet but I sure wish we had a Winco here.

The pain in my back is just about gone, I am still getting twinges when I bend over  to pick something up from the floor or put something down to the floor like the dog food or picking up my shoes.

It has been absolutely pouring rain here off and on. More on than off.

Judy I  feel the same way about the cold.

Hello everyone. I have come back!!  Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers while I was with my sister in Toronto.

I really cannot fathom how anyone can go through the loss of a family member without faith in God! So many of us were comforted this past week in the knowledge that life on this earth, for the believer, doesn't end as we take our last breath, but Jesus has prepared a place for us to live forever in God's presence.

I have been back since early Sunday morning, however have been "catching up"

Carol

RuthV:  Welcome back!  Yes, I have wondered about faithless people in how they handle real crises. Although, I have a dear friend who shuns any religion and she manages by putting things out of her mind and seems to handle her problems in that way.  But - she sure is missing a lot.  She doesn't know her grandchildren at all and it does not bother her.  Strange.

JudyB:  Look where you live and you detest the cold!  I can handle cold better than my husband who grew up in Duluth, MN.  Now, that is a year-round icebox.  Ice on the ground is another thing - snow is alright.  Living in Dallas for 9 years almost croaked over that heat.  Having to dress up for work was the pits.  Yes, I could use Pat to try to teach me to knit.  --Sigh---
