Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

QuoteI really cannot fathom how anyone can go through the loss of a family member without faith in God! So many of us were comforted this past week in the knowledge that life on this earth, for the believer, doesn't end as we take our last breath, but Jesus has prepared a place for us to live forever in God's presence.
I certainly can't either.  I have noticed that the people without faith in God cry a lot and I mean really sobbing.  When I attend a visitation for a Christian, it is a celebration.  People talk, laugh and enjoy seeing the deceased loved ones and family.

Well, yesterday was rehab and then Kitty came and we went to Chick-Fil-A.  I forget that restaurant is there...only the second time I have been there.  It is fast food but all chicken in some sort.  A Christian owned franchise...closed on Sunday!  Then we went swimming and back to Pendleton to Sister Exchange.  That's a consignment shop of very nice clothing and accessories.  I didn't get anything...still winter clothing...but Kitty got 5 tops and a necklace for $20!!!!!  What a deal!

Then home to do some laundry and pack for this weekend.

So today is my Class of 1960 luncheon at Golden Corral.  Kitty is going!  Yay!  Then I come home and put food out for the kitties and call two of the ladies that are going to Nashville with Ivalou and I and tell them I am on my way to their homes.

I am taking my laptop to both places today and they do have wireless in Nashville.

Oh, yes!  Please pray for Lauren...Ivalou's 22 year old g-daughter with breast cancer.  She has had her 6 aggressive chemo treatments and is now on Herceptin and Tamoxaifin (sp).  I think it is Tamoxaifin that one of the side effects is blood clots.  Lauren noticed her leg swelling and in terrible pain yesterday..it was fine the day before.  She called her oncologist and they said to go to her family doctor and have him send her to the hospital for tests.  In ER she would be their 6 hours and this would get results quicker.  So she did and the cat scan showed a blood clot in her leg.  So she is in the hospital and has even taught herself to give herself a shot of Lovenox in her love handle.  This is a gal that last August fainted while they drew blood!  Cancer does change your life!  She said the lady in her room had the TV on loud all night!!!

I had better get a move on.  I am hoping that these next two days will be totally relaxing!!

Etta Sue, I don't think you'd recognize a "relaxing day" if you met it head-on!

It's a dark morning and looks like rain.  But the forecast is just "mostly cloudy".  At least it's above freezing, and some rain would help get rid of more of the snow piles.   :)

Thank you Judy, Keith took it last night without the flash. I am surprised it came out as well as it did.

HI everyone.  I had another very busy morning as had a meeting with a friend for an hour or so after coffee and then went to my retirees bi-monthly luncheon.  It is held at Ryan's Steakhouse and they have a lunch buffet for $4.99.  They don't have as much selection as they used to have but the food is good and no one would go away hungry.  It is unusual to be able to eat out for a little over $5.  I came home and took a nice nap.  Now am watching the basketball tournaments and using the laptop.

Etta Sue, Chick-fil-a started here in Atlanta and is a family owned business.  They have sent many of their employees through college and the founder is still living.  His name is Truet Cathy and he has always refused to have his places open on Sunday and certainly has prospered.

RuthV, glad to see you back and condolences on your loss in your family.

Marilyn, I hope your back is feeling better today.

Liz

Lots of rain on the island.  I am with Judy about loving warm weather.

Said a little prayer for you and your dog, Marilyn.  Like your new photo.  Makes you look like a mischievous elf......

Before the Olympics, my gal pal and I went to Seattle to see Chris Botti at the Paramount Theatre.  It was really a pleasant evening.  We met our old Calgary (my school friend)  pal for breakfast.  She lives in Tacoma and is now a widow.  She and her husband became US citizens many years ago.  So that was nice.  Coming back on the Clipper, it developed an engine problem after we were half way home.  Turned back to Seattle, then started the return trip at a greatly reduced speed.  We were on the Clipper for over six hours......Should be around a 1 1/2 hr. trip.  They were really good to us tho' and gave free food and drinks.  Kind of like a very boring mini cruise! ::)

Many changes taking place with the Anglican Churches in BC.  So many are being closed and forced to double up with other congregations. I feel very badly for them as in small communities this is a huge change.  All about the lack of money, etc.  We keep loosing so many benefits in so many things....

Liked your little joke, Jeanne.  Needed a smile today.  Lots of depressing things happening in my life right now and sometimes it is hard to be cheery.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

Liz I am sorry you are having a rough time of it.  Praying here.

I shaved Cimi down tonight.  She was not impressed.  Now she is clean bathed and has short fur,  She looks purtiful.

John  is in town, I am unable to meet up with him, but Doug is.  That is good, he needs Dad time.

Got to go, God bless.

Hello from beautiful but cloudy and dreary Nashville, IN.  We had a great drive down.  It's about 87 miles from home to here.  Our room is beautiful.  We are in number 1.  Ivalou's bed has an iron canopy over it.  I forgot, you can see our room
hereThe only thing different is the couch is beige instead of the teal in the photo.  It's a little cool to be on the porch.  We are on the 2nd floor so it would be a nice place to sit in the warm spring or cool fall.

Last evening we had subs from Subway, chips, veggies and cookies.  Then the Inn has goodies and snakes all day long.  After our little meeting in the meeting room, we went to the dining room and there was cherry cheesecake, peanut chocolate bars, another chocolate bar, coffee, tea, angel food cake.  You sure couldn't stay here long without gaining weight!

Ivalou and I are ready to go down to the dining room for the breakfast that is served each morning.  Then we have another meeting/entertainment.  At noon we are on our own for lunch and until 5pm.  This evening we all go across the street to eat at the Artisan Colony.  This town has all kinds of shops from novelty shops to fine art.  Next door is an old-fashioned ice cream shop that Ivalou says that is where she wants to go!  So we probably will.

I may be back for another update!

Hi everyone.  It is cloudy and we have the chance of some heavy rain and stormy weather later this morning.

I am waiting to hear from the Sear's repairman to get to the house to fix the garage door opener again.  The last repair didn't last long.  Then the lady who takes the paperwork from me for the Senior Golden Games is to come by a little after 10:30 and we will finish up most of the paperwork.

If there is time I will then go to our computer Learning Center volunteer meeting.  This afternoon is our PC User Group meeting and we have a speaker for the program.

Etta Sue, it looks like you are staying in a very nice place.  Glad you and Ivalou are enjoying it.  Isn't having a laptop nice?

Liz, good to see you posting.  That trip, which I am assuming is a train, sound like it was very tiring and trying.  Glad you enjoyed the concert and the visit with your friend.  It does sound like they took care of the passengers very well to make the delay as enjoyable as possible.

Judy, sometimes it is nice for a father to have some time alone with a grown son.

Jeanne Lee

Good morning everyone.  Dark and cloudy again this morning, but it stayed above freezing all night!

Etta Sue, it sounds as though you are having a wonderful time in Nashville and your room looks beautiful.

As long as it is getting thicker then all is good.

Woohoo Etta Sue!

Had a call from my grand daughter.  Do I know anything or have anything from the pioneer era!  I am sooo old you know!!!!  LOL  I will have to do some web searching!  She has done well with her report this term.  I am really pleased! without glasses she can't see.  So the fact that she has done as well as she has without glasses.....she will do much better now that she has the glasses.  No one knew she couldn't see.

Have a great evening.

Janet

HELLO!!  I'd like to introduce myself;  I'm Janet!  :)

I finally have my laptop back, and then found it wouldn't work, either.  My desktop quit, I couldn't send nor receive email or get on the net.  So I called the help desk, and they walked me through all the unplugging and plugging back in, and now here I am!

I have had a very painful week, and am still in a lot of pain.  And the doctor says it will continue for "a long time."  So when I stop hurting, I will tell you how long a long time is!

The doctor removed a big chunk of my tongue.  It was about 3/4 of an inch square.  Then he had to re-shape the tip of my tongue so it would look and feel more normal.  The stitches are to dissolve, but I don't know how long that will take.  Eating is very painful, as is talking very much.  And I discovered that the movement the tongue makes when you yawn can really hurt!  Strange.  I can't suck anything through a straw yet, either.

The good news is, the growth was benign, and he got all of it.  And I have lost several pounds, too!  ;) So I guess I will just continue taking the pain pills for the forseeable future, which I dislike because they make me drowsy.

Darrel finally got his IV out last evening, and on Tuesday has to have a sonogram, a biopsy of his prostate and another laser procedure.  I hope they get this thing stopped this time.  :(

We don't have very many posters these days.  I miss a lot of those who used to post, but that's life.  Time goes by, people get interested in other things, etc.

Larry, I enjoyed your thoughts on the melodies in our heads.  Thanks.

Hi Janet nice to meet you again, I am Marilyn, I still come to post  but not every day like I used to. Most of the time there isn't much to say. Like you said "life goes on" just the same ole same ole. Or as my uncle used to say "just the same seven and six." "Mezzo Mezzo" with a little shake of the wrist.

I spend most of my time working on my artwork in PSP, creating so many different  images, stationery and birthday  cards. I have a TV in the computer room that  stays on Fox news all day long and the local news at 5. After Keith gets home  we  are both in the computer room, it is warmer in here and easier to heat than the rest of the house. Although we do build nice fires in the fireplace in the living room.

I am going to California for Forest's Birthday  the first of next month. His BD is the 3rd, I will go down on a Friday and sleep nights at Willa's house, hang out with the kids on Saturday and go the church with Willa on Sunday before I return home. Keith is going to take care of all the critters.

Janet I hope you get better sooner than later I will pray for your swift recovery.

As Marilyn stated, not a lot to write about.....Something different this morning tho'.  Woke up to a heavy snowfall.  Not the usual thing for the island.  Had to cancel an appt. as Wendy will not drive in bad weather.  She does not have the strength to control the car in snow.  It is mostly gone now, but left many cars in ditches and closed the Malahat early in the morning.  Strange things are happening!

Sorry about all your problems Janet.  Hope things get better soon.  Growing old seems more a matter of survial, rather than feeling well.

Actually Larry, the  Clipper is a fast 'people' ferry between Victoria and Seattle.  Thank goodness the ocean was not rough as I am a poor sailer.  We were shocked by the lack of security at both borders, tho' the Canadian border did use a mountie and dog, checking for drugs.  Not anything like at airports.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I will be gone most of the morning again today so wanted to post early.  This is a big basketball day so know I will be watching several of the games.  I saw only one game yesterday as was busy and away from the house or had things going on here.

The garage repairman was here and fixed the garage door opener again.  He told me the previous repairman had failed to lubricate the new part with thick grease that came with the part and it had ceased up and then was chewed up by another cog.  Anyway, there was no additional cost to me and we can get the car back into the garage.

I got all of the Golden Games reports completed and will take them to the lady who breaks them out into the necessary packages for the participates and event managers.  The only thing left will be to print a few more certificates once that information is provided.

I did attend the PCUG yesterday afternoon.  However, the program was on online banking, which I have done for a long time, so didn't stay for the full hour as was feeling very tired.  I decided a nap sounded better than a demonstration of something I already did.

Janet, so good to see you back posting and know that operation is behind you.  I can't even imagine what you are experiencing in your recovery.  Hopefully both you and Darrell will be well and fit by the time your trip comes around.  Do you remember Pat Howe from the SeniorNet site?  She has had a return of the mouth cancer and had to have a second surgery last week.  However, she seems to be doing well.

Liz, thanks for the information on the Clipper.  Your message about security isn't very comforting.
Glad the snow has melted.

Marilyn, I bet you will see a growth spurt in Forest since you saw him last, although I guess that wasn't too long ago.  I am sure he will be happy to see you.

Judy, I think sometimes we can begin to think of ourselves as modern pioneers when you consider all the changes that have occurred in our lifetime.  Glad your granddaughter's sight problem has been found and she will have glasses.

Jeanne, it was dark, cloudy and rainy here for the last few days but I see the sun shining this morning and it really looks good.  I think we are sending our rain on up your way.

You may have seen the following before but I found it very interesting and wanted to share it.

What an awesome and orderly GOD!!

For example:
-the eggs of the potato bug hatch in 7 days;
-those of the canary in 14 days;
-those of the barnyard hen in 21 days;
-The eggs of ducks and geese hatch in 28 days;
-those of the mallard in 35 days;
-The eggs of the parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days.
(Notice, they are all divisible by seven, the number of days in a week!)

God's wisdom is seen in the making of an elephant. The four legs of this great beast all bend forward in the same direction. No other quadruped is so made. God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too large to live on two legs. For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so that it can rise from the ground easily.

The horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first. A cow rises from the ground with its two hind legs first. How wise the Lord is in all His works of creation!

God's wisdom is revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments, as well as in the number of grains.

-Each watermelon has an even number of stripes on the rind.
-Each orange has an even number of segments.
-Each ear of corn has an even number of rows.
-Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains.
-Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even number and the next row an odd number.

-The waves of the sea roll in on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather.

All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks, and the Lord specified thirty fold, sixty fold, and a hundredfold - all even numbers.

God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during the day, so that Linnaeus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature, he could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed!

Thus the Lord in His wonderful grace can arrange the life that is entrusted to His care in such a way that it will carry out His purposes and plans, and will be fragrant with His presence.

Well, we have to leave this beautiful room today.  What an awesome time 25 women have had.  We have been entertained, we did the entertaining and we will have memories of these two days!  This certainly isn't a place to come if you are on a diet...unless it is a seafood diet...when you 'see' food, you eat it!  This place fixes the bestest snacks!

Time to go down for breakfast and then we will have a meeting and leave around 11am.  Wonderful weekend.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Janet

I am up, dressed and ready to leave for my painting day.  Will meet Julie at the church, then we drive to Lakin and meet Winona.

I might as well have stayed up all night, for all the sleeping I did.  But it will be all right.

Liz, I feel so blessed that I have excellent health.  This tongue thing wasn't something I HAD to have done; but it was hightly recommended, and at least now it is over and I don't have to dread having it when I get "old."  That lack of border security is a really concerning thing!

Etta Sue, so happy you had a great two days!  Good for you!

I still can't get my printer to work.  It says it isn't connected, but it is!  I unplugged and replugged, no luck.

Larry, thanks for telling me about Pat Howe.  I'm sorry to hear that.  And that's the main reason I went ahead and had the surgery, so make sure it wasn't cancer.

Must run!

Janet Try uninstalling and reinstalling.  That has happened to me and that was the solution.  I pray your tongue heals soon, and the pain goes.

Larry thank you for those facts...something we easily forget.

Marilyn glad you will be able to get to your son's birthday.  Family is so important.

Liz I heard from my cousin who lives in Vancouver.  He says winter is there at last at night and spring in the daytime.  Confusing times.

Have a great day folks
Judy

Jeanne Lee

Janet, OUCH!  I'm praying you'll heal much sooner than the doctor expects.  I'm so glad it proved to be benign.

Etta Sue, it certainly sounds as though you had a fruitful and very pleasant time.  But I'm sure it will feel good to get home, too.

Larry, thank you for those lists of facts clearly illustrating God's plans in everything.  I'm glad you got your garage door fixed.  Isn't it annoying when people don't do the job they're supposed to and then you have to suffer the consequences.  And I'm sure your nap was much more productive than sitting through a presentation of something with which you were already familiar.  ;)

It's another gray, dreary day, this time with showers off and on and it's not as warm as the last few days.  But it's above freezing at least and the piles of dirty plowed-up snow are slowly shrinking.   :D

Jeanne the rain helps melt the snow....I am praying the snow melt slows down here...the side effects are so annoying.  The basement gets wet and sump pump runs constantly.

John will be home soon.  Last off day was March 1st.  Looking forward to a couple of days off with him.

I hope everyone enjoys their day.  I will be back tomorrow.

Janet:  Nice to see you posting - mend quickly.  I know you enjoy chatting.

Marilyn:  Enjoy your trip to see your grandson.

Have a good weekend.  It is half over here.

Today is my re-birthday!  I was baptized 12 years ago today! ! !

I am all ready for church after one of 'those' nights.  I was trying to burn another DVD of the 30 movies that I did the other day.  These are movies that people have sent to me in emails.  A few seconds to 8+ minutes long each.  I had to so an update with my Nero Smart Start 8 and now I can't find how to do them.  Any suggestions?  I want to play it back in a DVD player...not just my laptop.  They are .wmp, .mov and wma files.  Larry, do you have any ideas?

Us ladies that went to the retreat are to sing a song that we rehearsed this morning in church.  My first time to be up front!  Glad they might be 24 other women.  We are to go in a little early to practice with the music and the mics.

Rainy and lakes/ponds every where.  The grass is much greener and my tulips are popping up through the ground.  Spring has sprung in Indiana.

I have a feeling that a nap is coming on this afternoon.

Hi everyone.  Will be leaving for church in about 20 minutes but time to post here.  I expect we will be going out to eat somewhere after church with the group.   Then expect to have a quiet day, watching the finals of a couple of basketball tournaments in which I am interested.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you ladies had a fabulous time and I am sure a nice change of pace from the daily routines.  Regarding the problem burning DVDs, you might try just selecting and dragging the files you want to burn onto the DVD drive using Windows Explorer.  I believe this triggers Microsoft software to burn DVD.  It has been awhile since I have used this but I believe it will work.  However, you should be able to burn with your Nero software.  I don't use Nero so can't advise on that piece of software.

Judy, glad that John will be coming home as two weeks is a long time to be away.

Jeanne, with the melting snow it sounds like nature is preparing for spring up your way.

Janet, nice to see you feel up to painting as sure that will help take your mind off the discomfort.  I agree with Judy that you should probably just uninstall and reinstall your printer.  I have experienced similar problems.
