Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Every word is true

Every word of God proves true. He defends all who come to him for protection.

Proverbs 30:5 NLT

We must both affirm the inerrancy of Scripture and then live under it.

Francis Schaeffer

The perfect word

In a world of shifting loyalties, devious cons, and ever-evolving ideas, we need to know where to anchor our souls. We aren't diligent enough to analyze every counterfeit that comes our way, nor are we perceptive enough to expose every false philosophy. Human rationalism is not equipped to establish eternal truth. That's why we need help. Only God can point us in the right direction.

It's a comfort when we are searching for absolutes to actually find them. According to this proverb, such absolute truth will shield us. What from? Every subtle deceit, every malicious word, every doctrinal error, and every false messiah. Much to our dismay, the world is full of empty promises. If we are left to ourselves to figure them all out, we will spend our lives tossed around on tumultuous waves of competing "truths." By the time we obtain understanding by our own efforts, it's too late to settle on the foundation of God's wisdom. In short, we need to be anchored in revelation.

How do we do that? A daily time in God's Word is a good first step. It works truth into our minds on a regular basis. But is that really enough?

Here's a good pattern to follow: First, ask God every day to convince your heart of His truth and to give you discernment of lies. Second, find at least one verse a week to memorize. Chew on it, let it sink in, look at it from every angel, and come up with specific ways to apply it. Third, don't just study God's Word. Fall in love with it. Consume it as voraciously as your favorite meal. God has a way of working into our hearts the things we love. If we love the flawless Word, the flawless Word will dwell within us.

My little church showed the movie 'End of the Spear' once.  Sad but very interesting and inspiring.  I am hoping this is the same one since it has been a few years since it was shown at church.

And Colin...I was just thinking.  When I die and my son and wife goes through my computer, I wonder if they will wonder 'Why does Mom have all these poems written by this guy, Colin Moffett?'  I, too, have kept everyone of your poem.  I love them...because they tell beautiful stories and rhyme!  Keep it up, bro!

Al, so sorry to hear about Marbeth.  Rehab is the answer to recovery these days.  It makes one wonder about past years and people with past illnesses.  Would they be with us today if they had had rehab?  Maybe...maybe not.  Only God knows.

Kitty and I went swimming yesterday.  Again, I lost count of how many laps but I did say that I swam about 8 laps without floundering.  I am still improving.  Just have to get the breathing in control with my strokes.  I realized yesterday after 11 months of swimming that I don't have to go for speed.  Slow down and I can swim the 25 yards in a constant rhythm.

Then Kitty needed printer ink at Robert's Camera.  I am so glad that I only have two cartridges in my printers.  She spends $100 every time she needs ink and only got 4 colors yesterday.

Then she stopped at Barnes and Noble to ask a question about her Nook.  That's a device that she bought that she can download books from the net or purchase at B & N and read on her Nook.

Then to Best Buy.  I did get a new GPS.  Tomtom XXl 550 T.  It has a 5" screen, Lifetime Traffic Updates, 7 million preloaded Points of Interests, Advanced Lane Guidance, Spoken Streets Names and I can go to the web and get the latest street updates.  Also Tomtom Map Share.  When I discover a new street not on the map, I can go online and share it with others.  I can't use it in the house...I am retired from electronics but I can never remember which is house current...AC or DC!  I only have the adapter for the car.  And I haven't plugged it into my car yet!  May have to take a test drive later today.

I am missing my sister...but I read Facebook from Jo, that they enjoyed a great evening with the college grandkids and a boy friend.

So many postings since I was here last.

Hate to start mentioning names because I know that I would miss someone and I don't like that because they would think I don't care, but I do.

Wow, what a terribly long sentence; I am sure an English teacher would correct me ..LOL

Marilyn,,I do have to say I laughed  when you said you painted your nails blue...I did too and my daughter in law looked at me "queered" . My daughter liked it but then she bought it for me from her Avon business.
I will use it on my toes next.

Prayers to the ones who are ill and need Our Heavenly Father's touch at this time.

I was in Penna. and my husband was mowing the lawn and hollered to me to come out fast....I thought NOW WHAT HAPPENED.

and there it was a new born fawn laying in the grass--he was just about to "weed whack" that section.
One of my neighbors said the momma must have put it there in  a safe place when she went out to feed herself.

It was there for hours and if I could learn how to post her pictures I will. It did get up to try to walk and it did for a few feet.

But then we agreed to definately not touch it and let it be and momma will come back for it.

Having a very stressful time right now and if anyone can give me some prayers sent my way, I sure would appreciate it.

Loved my bible study for the last couple of days, all about not to be anxious for anything because He KNOWS and HE is there for me without my asking..

I do know that because when I am so down, I barely know how to pray.

Does that happened to anyone here and how do you get through those days??

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just back from Bible Study at the church and a continuation of our study of the Book of Daniel.  We were studying Chapter 7 today.  We then went to Dunkin' Donut, where it was really too chilly.  I was glad to leave and come home.  Tonight I have choir.

Colin, that was a wonderufl poem.  Thanks for sharing it.

Etta Sue, do you not have a usb cable with the new Tom Tom?  Mine does but I don't have a very fancy one and haven't figured it all out yet.

Marilyn, that is a very lovely color on the Corvette.  Do you ever get to drive it?

Gord, it sounds like you will be baby-sitting for a long time.  It is wonderful to have another grandchild.  My wife is feeling a lot better the last couple of days.  My daughter suffer everyday but keeps going.  Thanks for asking.  Sure hope Noreen will find some relief from her pain.

Time for a rest period for the afternoon.

Marilyn

Larry I have not  had an opportunity to drive the Corvette or the Camaro either, I keep bugging Keith to let me drive the Camaro, It needs some new tires  but I doubt he will let me drive that one either.

Quote from: Larry Hanna on June 01, 2010, 02:59:10 PMEd, I have not heard of Nate Saint or his son.

Larry:  Nate Saint was one of the missionaries that was killed in Equador, along with Jim Elliot.  Steve Saint was a young boy at the time, living there.  Steve followed his fathers footsteps and went back to the same area, looking for the wreckage of of the yellow plane.

One of the native women remembered Steve.  He lived among them.  And the rest as they say is history.  The book and/or DVD "End Of The Spear" s.b. available on Amazon.com

To bring the story a little closer to home, I have a friend that was a minister at the Ocala Free Methodist Church.  Steve attended there until relocating.

Elizabeth Elliot is a great speaker and if you have a chance to hear her...by all means go.  Some of her materials are available on Focus On The Family and perhaps Amazon.

Joyce did the baby fawn's mama come for it?   Also the times I feel like you do I put on praise music, loud, and sing along.  Either Tape, CD or Christian Radio.  The music settles your spirit and calms your mind.  Works for me.  Which reminds me I had better turn on the radio!

Etta Sue sounds like you had a full but enjoyable day.  Wish I were with you!

Marilyn last time I drove a car like that I got a speeding ticket.  Won't be doing that any time soon unless it has cruise!

Good to see you Ed.  I too have enjoyed Elizabeth Elliotts books and messages on Focus.  Wonderful lady!

Larry Glad that Pat is feeling better.  It is always rough when we see our child suffer.

Gord I am praying for Noreen.  Call sometime and we can chat!

Had three rough nights in a row so I went back to bed today.  We had some rain while I slept.  But I still think I will have to put the sprinkler on the garden.  Things are so dry.  We have a number of fires burning to the north of us.  I am hoping the (a bit) cooler weather helps the fire fighters get control.

Have a great rest of the day folks!

Thanks Judy for your response.

Your ideas seem like they  would do the trick..

I have way too much stimulation in my life and makes my mind wander. I know that the devil fills our time with all the work and distractions and worries come in  so we are so preoccupied that we can't even get our  thoughts back to the Lord's work.

I usually stop and say-- OK Lord, I am all yours, I definately can not do any more without your help and as soon as I humble myself and tell Him that I can not do it without HIM--HE seems to be right there.

HE probably was right there all along, but the devil trys so hard for me to NOT see it...

I didn't see if mamma come for the baby, I think so because we saw two deers standing by as we left the fawn.

I will be looking again this weekend when I go up.

Funny when we were first looking to buy , I said OK Lord send me a sign that this is where I am suppose to be at this time of my life,  and there was a baby fawn sound asleep at the bottom of my steps.

This week I called on the Lord again (since we are not having any luck selling our Jersey home and money is getting tight) I cried out again to the LOrd and said sent me a sign that this is where I am suppose to be and there was a  baby fawn

Today I need prayers and a calm voice to get me up on the right track again and there you are.

Thanks

Etta Sue

Yes, Larry, I do have a USB cord with the GPS.  I downloaded tomtomhome yesterday.  Seems there are all kinds of things that I can put on the GPS...I want to find out what all I can do without a cost...this afternoon.  The GPS is in the car right now.

I did use the GPS to find Arby's at Noblesville and follow the directions there...then to the park in Noblesville.  Then I located my church and went there.  What I do like is when I got off course on purpose, it didn't rudely tell me to 'make a legal U-turn now'.  It just re-calculated and went on!  That I like!

Betty, a church member, left her umbrella in my car Mother's day.  She goes to Beef and Boards also.  She wasn't at church the next Sunday, we forgot about it the next Sunday, she left before Sunday School last Sunday and won't be there this Sunday.  So I called her to make sure she was home and for her to know I am coming and she now has her umbrella.

I think I have discovered a new math.  New GPS + Low Gas Prices = GO!!  Now where to go?  I wish Jo would call me to go to Ohio and get Ivalou!

How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your Word and following its rules.

Psalm 119:9 NLT

Let the Bible fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet.

Henrietta Mears

A drunk meets a cop

Dawson Troter, founder of the Navigators, was student body president, basketball team captain, and class valedictorian when he was in high school. But then life fizzled out. He gambled, drank to excess, and caroused. He was staggering through the streets one night when a policeman stopped him, took his car keys, and asked, "Son, do you like this kind of life?" "Sir, I hate it," replied Trotman. Instead of arresting him for drunkenness, the policeman urged Dawson to change his life.

That encounter was a turning point. Dawson attended a church gathering were he was challenged to memorize ten Bible verses stressing salvation. Trotman memorized the verses, then memorized another ten the next week. Several weeks later, as he pondered the meaning of what he had learned, he quietly prayed, "Oh God, whatever it means to receive Jesus, I want to do it right now."

Trotman never got away from the power of the Word. As his knowledge of the Bible grew, he realized that a combination of prayer, worship, service, and the study of Scripture produced spiritual growth.

Judy thank you for sharing that story, quote and verse. Very meaningful.

I have to get busy today and go grocery shopping,  and shampoo my hair , tomorrow is going to be relaxation, make my lists and do a Photoshop lesson, do the last minute things that need to be done before we leave on Saturday after I take the dogs to the kennel.

Oh, how nice it is to be HOME today!  I am catching up on work here, which doesn't feel like work because I want to get it done!  I've done four loads of laundry, changed the bed, cleaned the kitchen, got the trash out, "re-dressed" the dining table with new tablecloth, placemats, napkins, and even got to watch the 700 Club!  And it's only 11 AM.  Oh, yes, made several phone calls getting appointments set up for Darrel and straightening out things for family reunion.  Also started packing for reunion.  Now if I can get things packed and ready for painting class next week, and start packing for the scuba trip, I will feel that this has been a really good day!

Etta Sue, I think that a GPS will be the next gift I will buy for Darrel.  Of course, I will get to use it too!  ;)  I will need to ask some questions as to the best kind to buy, etc.  That would be a good anniversary gift for both of us, huh?  Hmmmmm.....  Anniversary is coming up in July.

I am praying for BP to find a way to stop the flow of oil from the ruptured pipe.  Sounds as if they are making progress today.  God, please grant them wisdom.

Darrel will be attending the funeral of a classmate today.  He passed away suddenly the day before their big reunion.  He is going with another classmate, as the service is about 100 miles from here.

Judy, that is good stuff!  Thanks.  Marilyn, hav e a good trip.

Well, see you later!

Hi everyone.  Just finishing up lunch.  I spent the morning at coffee, walking at the gym and then took one of my cars to the dealer for an oil change.  By the time I got home it was lunch time.  After I rest a bit this afternoon plan on taking the other car in to get the oil changed in it as both cars needed the service at the same time.  I had set an appointment for tomorrow morning but want to get it done so I can free up a day.

Last evening a part of one of my lower teeth broke off.  That is a terrible realization as it always means big dollars to the dentist.  It is also time for our teeth cleaning.

Etta Sue, I have downloaded the TomTom home and went through many of the menu items.  I used my TomTom last evening as must get used to it as it is a bit different than the Garmon that I have had for the last 4 years or so.  I reread the little instruction book yesterday afternoon.

Lunch finished so time to rest rather than ramble on here.

Carol

Yesterday, I went to an early morning tea and met the missionary woman who a few of our group supports - she is in Indonesia and now they are going to Malaysia.  Tough being in a Muslim country - I think that I have mentioned a cousin's son & huge family are in Kyrgyzstan after having been told to leave Uzbekistan and now that isn't so quiet either.  Anyway, this is a lovely woman and it was a super morning to listen to her story.

Thanks all for your response on Don's hearing.  Yesterday, we went to a big store and I had to keep going after him as he could not hear me from behind - keep praying for this affliction.  It is difficult for a huge part of our population.

JudyB:  Kudos to Kassie for her great study habits.

Janet:  Glad to read that Beth had a nice visit on her 2nd. day of the reunion.  Take care.

Larry:  How many donuts do you eat in a year?   :coffee:  I love them too.  Have you ever had a hot doughnut with soft ice cream on top?  I used to have them for lunch - when I was just out of high school & working - 17 years old at that time & going to the U of Wash.  Slender.  Sorry about your up and coming dental bill.  These bills just take your breath away as everything hits with taxes and so life goes.

Al:  It sure sounds like Marbeth is recovering from her health scare and I pray for both of you.  Are you having nice springtime weather with lots of flowers blooming?  We have had wind until I am sure it makes a few more people go mad.  An exaggeration but it really does get annoying.

Gord:  Same thing  - prayers for you and Noreen.  I am so sorry that she suffers from pain.

Joyce:  Yes - I have prayed for I think ten years about a family situation and nothing changes while my feelings go from being prayerful to thinking to heck with it and back to prayer.  My only way of getting through some things is to just pray that I will accept the situation.

Janet:  GPS - We have Tom Tom and we argue with Tom.  We sometimes know better.  They all must be getting better and better now.

Going to meet two gals for breakfast tomorrow because they called.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, I'm motivated do work on my apartment this afternoon. Thanks, Judy!

Thanks , Carol,  for your response.

I have the same situation for a long time and mostly I say OK Lord , How and what do you want me to see in this problem-it's all up to you.

You know after I wrote here, I felt  I did see results for my pondering situation, I am growing stronger and stronger in handling the problem.

I left a great bible study in Manna for the Soul that helped me a lot today to face the problem  and remember that HE knows the problem and is in control....

:)  Good evening to all and hope that you are all looking after yourselves.   We have had some heavey rain storms and a lot of thunder and lightening this afternoon but it seems that it is over for now.

Thank you for your continued prayer support for Noreen and I and there may be something down the road that could help my wife but we will not know for a while.

May the Lord be with you all this weekend and have a wonderful day in his house.  God Bless. :) :cp:

Janet

Looks like we have another nice day here!  The past two days have been lovely, with very little wind.  Like Carol, I really dislike hard wind, but here we have a lot of it.  I guess that makes me appreciate the nice days even more.

I want to work in my studio today, getting things straightened up and somewhat organized.  I like doing so many things that I have too much stuff in there, and it gets to where I can't find what I want.  Hard to organize such unrelated items, too, but I'm going to make a stab at it, anyway.

I don't know what else the day might bring.........but do we ever??

The Power in Prayer

[Jesus told them,] "Now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven."

Luke 24:49 NLT

Though the Bible be crowded with golden promises from board to board, yet they will be inoperative until we turn them into prayer.

F. B. Meyer (1847-1929)

Golden promises

Before Jesus sent out the disciples to take the message of the gospel to all nations, he assured them of his promise to send the Holy Spirit. That promise motivated them to continue with one accord in prayer (Acts 1:14). God's promises are provided to stir us and inspire us to pray. Those precious promises—there are hundreds throughout the Bible—show us things God has purposed and wants us to ask for, just as he wanted his disciples to ask for the Holy Spirit so they would have power for ministry. These golden promises teach us about how to pray, and they build our faith. "If I am to have faith when I pray," said American evangelist R.A. Torrey, "I must find some promise in the Word of God on which to rest my faith....If there is no promise in the Word of God, and no clear leading of the Spirit, there can be no real faith." Today, ask the Lord which of his promises he wants you to pray about. The Holy Spirit will fill you with power from on high to accomplish what needs to be done.

THANK YOU, FATHER, for the promises in your word. May they be incentives for me to continue in prayer so that your will may be accomplished and your kingdom will come in my life, family, nation, and world. Holy Spirit, thank you for dwelling within me and for filling me with your power. Let my prayers be pleasing to you, Father, as your Spirit leads me in praying in light of your promises.

Nita

Good morning all.  We're having rain and wind this morning.  Actually the wind has died down, but it was pretty windy earlier.

I like this, "Today, ask the Lord which of His promises He wants you to pray about.  The Holy Spirit will fill you with power on high to accomplish what needs to be done. "

Thanks, Judy.

I plugged my GPS into the laptop.  First thing, if there are new maps within 30 days of purchase or plugging it into the laptop...I don't know how they would know when it was purchased..you get the new maps free.  I started downloading the new maps at 1:13pm.  At about 5:30pm, it was done downloading and through installing!  Wow!  Then the fun began.  I started with Voices.  Some were at a cost but most were not.  I downloaded everything from Donald Duck to Air Traffic Controller.  It will be fun to find out who to listen to.  Then I got different 'cars'.  I chose the 'others'.  A banana, a monkey, Elmer Fudd, Donald Duck, Colts horseshoe.  Also map displays...vivid and bright, pastels.  You can even get different start images and shut down images.  I chose palm trees, beach, and water for both.  Now to get in the car and try them out...when I get caught up on here.

That's about all I did yesterday.  I watched some TV and played around on the computer.

It looked like rain and did rain for maybe 5 minutes.  It started out looking foggy and cloudy but right now it is sunny and bright.

I am still having problems Previewing and Posting.  Yesterday I skipped the Preview and it Posted right away.  Today it didn't work that way.  So I clicked Preview and it previewed.  Then I clicked Post and it didn't do anything.  But when I scrolled down on the Preview screen, it showed my post was posted!!  So I opened up a new window on CP and sure enough, my post was posted!

I have no problems anywhere else on the web...just CP.  I wish someone would tell me what I am doing wrong OR fix it!

It still seems that CP doesn't like my graphics!!

Hi everyone.  It is a hot day here in Georgia with some storms possible later today, which is pretty normal for Georgia.

I went to Wal-Mart this morning and it just about did me in.  I haven't felt well the rest of the day.  I could hardly get across the floor and had to lay down and rest this morning for an hour, got up and ate lunch and then rested again for a couple of hours.  Feeling a little better this afternoon but still very tired.  I should be fine after a good night's sleep.

Etta Sue, I had the same experience in updating the maps on the TomTom.  It is a very long process.

I'll try to say a little more tomorrow.

Marilyn

I  am just about ready to go, with has to work a couple of hours tomorrow morning. So It  is up to me to get the dogs off to the kennel and the food packed up for the trip.

Please do me a big favor and don't send me any email or forwards while I am away to fill up my mail box.

I am taking my laptop and will check in from time to time but I don't plan on spending a lot of time on the computer while vacationing. I will take lots of photos if it doesn't rain.

Acting in faith

That is why we live by believing and not by seeing.

2 Corinthians 5:7 NLT

You honor Jesus when you act in faith on His Word.

Ed Cole

Fertile lives

Most of us try to get through life on human wisdom. Some of us succeed. Others of us make so many mistakes that we die with innumerable regrets. If only we could get guidance from above, we would get this "life" stuff right. If only we could hear the voice of the One who knows. If only.

The truth is that we can. The Voice has spoken. His words are available to us. But there's a catch. We have to be willing to obey it. Otherwise, we won't have what Jesus calls "ears to hear." Those who obey what they already know of God have their ears opened to more; and those who have ears open are readily obedient.

The root of the problem is that most of us have trouble, however minor it may be, with obedience. We lose our "ears to hear," and as a result, we fall back on human wisdom. Our lives never match those of the biblical heroes. Why? Human wisdom would not have pushed Abraham up a hill to sacrifice his son; it would not have led God's people to the edge of the Red Sea with an army in pursuit; it would not have marched around Jericho seven times and blasted a trumpet for the wall to fall; and, most strikingly, human wisdom would not have vilified the Son of God on a cross in order to save a wretched race.

Really, when it comes to it, would you prefer to live by the human logic that results from losing your ears to hear? Or would you prefer the cutting-edge, risky-but-real life of a true, radical believer? The answer isn't clear for everyone. But we've seen who lasts. Your Bible is full of their stories. They lived by faith, not by sight.

Footsteps of Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'If anyone would come after me,
he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me'.
Matthew 16:24

Words - Mary B.C. Slade, 1826-1882
Music - Asa B. Everett, 1871

Sweetly, Lord, have we heard Thee calling,
Come, follow Me!
And we see where Thy footprints falling
Lead us to Thee.

Refrain
Footprints of Jesus,
That make the pathway glow;
We will follow the steps of Jesus
Where'er they go.

Though they lead o'er the cold, dark mountains,
Seeking His sheep;
Or along by Siloam's fountains,
Helping the weak.
