Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Hi everyone.  This is my day to get to stay home (other than my regular morning coffee with friends) and I really look forward to it.  Pat is attending the special Bible study class she is taking and then this afternoon her former quilting group at church is getting together for a "tea" and to work on the quilt she and another friend are making for the upcoming craft sale.  Think I mentioned the quilt yesterday.

Jeanne, thanks for the explanation of the joke.  Sometimes I can figure them out but that one went right over my head.  Janet, glad I wasn't the only one that had the problem seeing the point of the joke.

So sorry to hear of Judy losing her modem.  Hope she didn't also lose her computer.

Etta Sue, I wouldn't be surprised if getting your gas lines fixed doesn't help your symptoms of allergy.  It is frustrating to take something for repair and then they can't reproduce the problem.

Ruth, your mention of Euchre reminded me that a few days ago I downloaded a nice Euchre game for my iPod Touch and have played it a few times.  It is a fun game.

Pat

I got my milk last night.  I was completely out.

Hello again:

Etta Sue:   This time I copied and pasted your Cornbread Salad and I will be printing it when I shut down, I had commented about it a long time ago and did nothing towards trying it shame on me.

Recently I have been moving stuff out of my cupboards and on out the door yes I replaced my kitchen dinnerware with a set that I had got from my brother's estate, as a result most of my old is going out the door, I have more free space. I wish that the same would happen to the 2 extra sets of cutlery, but they are not junk.

Today at noon we went to yet another gathering of friends for lunch following that we went to check on a warehouse sale that is for the Christmas season found out that I was a week early for that.

I must mention that I also phoned my aunt in-law that was celebrating her 94Th Birthday today, yes her memory is very sharp.

Curling season has started and Mel has gone to join the group he is a spare which he likes best, he gets to move around from week to week and also gets to know the different curlers. Yes he has been asked many a time to join a team but he continues to decline.

Judy:  When you are on-line again are you not able to contact your provider and have them talk you through the setup to get back on line?   Our modem at one time gave us problems and they decided that we needed an updated one and have not had any recent issues.

Tomorrow is garbage day and I must get some items gathered together for the trip out the door when Mel gets home.

Heather

I am just talking with mom on the phone, and she has told me that dad has picked up a new computer for her and the modem that she needs is expected by tomorrow afternoon, Monday at the latest.  So she should be back with you by Monday evening.  Unfortunately she will still be on dial up because there is yet to be high speed in her area without HUGE setup fees.  I'm working on that for her hopefully by Christmas.

Jeanne Lee

Heather, thanks so much for bringing us up to date about your mother's computer problems.  It will certainly be great when she can get back here with us.

YAY!  They are picking the corn beside of my house.  Tonight, I can see the sunset again!

Milk?  I am not a milk lover.  Usually buy skim milk.  But I like milk on cereal and cook with milk.  But I was always throwing milk away because it started smelling bad and I would not use it after the expiration date.  My solution is dry milk.  I make a cup of milk at a time and never throw any away now.  If I need more milk, I mix more up!  Works for me.  Might work for you.  And the dry milk seems to be richer than skim by all means.

The four of us went to see 'Secretariat'.  I recommend the movie to anyone!  PG rating.  Disney movie.  Great movie!  And of course, we all know how it ends since it is a true story.  Great photography in filming with very close shots of the horses racing.  Great story!!  Go see it!

Today Ivalou and I are getting our haircuts again.  Then eat somewhere.  I got news that Kitty isn't going to go Sunday so I doubt if I go either...so no Cornbread Salad.  Ivalou and I will go to Walmart but I won't need the ingredients now.

Everyone have a blessed day!

Etta Sue:   It was in our local paper that the movie is one to see even the jokey that rode secretariat thought it was very close to the actual events.

Help:   How do I change my picture, I did go to profile then browse and from there I had no luck?

A beautiful day here Mel & our son have gone to Bolton to trim 2 cedar trees that are at each corner of a house and yes they are touching the roof, something needed to be done.

Now I am going to the arcade for some fun.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We are having a most beautiful day here in Georgia.  It was cool all morning but has warmed up a bit this afternoon.  It is probably cooler in the house than outside.

I had my follow-up visit with my cardiologist this morning.  I have never had another doctor who spent as much time with me as this doctor.  Pat went with me and had a lot of questions, which he tried to answer.  One good thing he told me was I wouldn't be a candidate for another visit to the cath lab unless I have another heart attack.  He did confirm what the other doctors have told me that I will have a continuing decline as the heart continues to weaken.  It is what it is so won't worry about it as know God is in control.

Yesterday we had problems with one of our Dish Satellite receivers that contols two of our TVs.  The technician was here early this morning and changed out the receiver.  He told us we were eligible to have High Definition without additional monthly charges so have it scheduled for another technician to come tomorrow afternoon to install it.  I will have to pay another $15 service fee but feel it will be worth it as well as sign a new 2-year contract.  Since we like Dish that will be no problem.

After seeing the doctor this morning Pat and I stopped at a Schlotzsky's Deli for lunch.  It had been a number of years since we had eaten there and it was still very good.  Then we came home and both had a good nap.

Marilyn

I went back to the Doctor this morning,  my sutures were removed a steri-strips were put on, t he pin remains until next visit. I now have a beautiful purple hard cast on my hand and wrist. It makes it more difficult to do  things as the cast goes all the way up to the tip of my thumb, whereas before I had a little bit of a "grip"  with the soft cast. I go back in two weeks to have this cast removed and the pin taken out, then into a brace for a few more weeks. I took pictures before the stitches were removed and again after, then one of the pretty cast, it took the pics with my camera as well as my cell phone and sent some off to Gilbert and to Willa's daughter for her to show to Willa. I will  upload the ones from my camera and put them on Facebook so all y'all can see them.

Larry ~ It sounds like your health news hasn't improved.  But you are in a win-win situation.  And your attitude is great!

Marilyn ~ Sounds like you are going through what Barb went through.  She was in a hard cast and now a soft cast that she puts on when she feels it is needed.  You will do fine!

Well, they are going to re-install Windows on my laptop so I will have to re-install all the softwares again.  Thank God, I have the external hard drive that has all my documents, pictures, music and videos.  Now to figure out how to put them back on the C drive.  And it is going to cost me again!  I wish I wouldn't dream, get up for the bathroom and continue the same dream.  I re-installed the laptop all night last night!!  I doubt if I get the laptop back before Tuesday.

And I got invited today to go to Tony's at noon.  Charlene's three kids are home this weekend.  One from Florida, one from Michigan and the other a few miles away.  I haven't even met Kevin's wife and they dated for 5 years.  Close family, hunh?

Then I need to stop by the church and make sure a video that I made works...I have no idea what to do if it doesn't!  And then to Dollar General for necessities.

Big day!

I can type  pretty well I just have to watch for the errors, My fingers are all exposed. This hard cast makes it  more difficult to do some of the things I was doing in the softer cast.

The following is my answer to a question Jeanne asked me elsewhere.  I realized that it really belonged in here where others might he interested in it.  It's about the coffee I drink and how I make it.  It's a cold-process coffee, and, who knows, you might find it interesting.  It's also about the contraption with which you make it.

They call it the "Toddy Coffee Maker."  There's a white plastic container with a circular recessed area in the bottom center, which is where you put a small, circular filter.  There's a hole in the recessed area for a small cork.  You put a pound of finely ground coffee in the white plastic container (after you put the filter in), then put the cork in, then fill the container, coffee and all, with preferably warm tapwater.  You let it sit for 12 to 24 hours, then pull the cork to let it drain through the filter into a glass decanter.  At this point, it's concentrated about 4X1.  So then you fill a quarter-cup measuring cup with it, pour that into your cup, put it in the microwave for around 2 minutes, and, voila, your cup of coffee.  The batch in the decanter contains enough for many, many cups.  You can also make another batch by reinserting the cork, filling the plastic container again with warm tapwater, and waiting another 12 to 24 hours, then draining it through the filter again into the decanter.  You can even make a third batch, though the concentration isn't quite as great then.  Because it's made without heat, there's no acids or oils, and the smoothness is great!  If you're like me, you can put some sweetener, creamers (I use Silk brand soy creamer) in the drinking cup with the 1/4-cup-measuring cup's worth of the concentrate.  Who wouldn't want it white and sweet?  (P.S. I use Splenda sweetener - no calories) P.S. P.S. - go to google, type in "toddy coffee maker," and it'll tell you all about it.

Janet

Thanks, Al.  I'm going to check that out.  Having coffee without oils or acid sounds really good!

I have been running, as usual.  I got called in to work with only a few minutes' notice again, then today I went to a little class at the library, and this afternoon worked on the door harp I am painting.  It has no instructions on putting it together, and while I know how it goes, I do not know how to tighten the wires, as they are really stiff and if you bend them tightly, they break.  It's turned into a hard chore!

Last night we went to Dodge City with friends to the dinner theatre.  The play was "Nobody's Perfect" and was pretty funny.  A friend of mine, painting group former member, played an elderly man and was just hilarious.  We had such a fun evening.

Larry, I also admire your attitude.  You are a wonderful guy.

Marilyn, glad your hand is healing nicely.  The picture of the purple cast did not show up.

Grandson Curtis is being sent to Utah tomorrow and won't be home until Thanksgiving.  They are working on a pretty secret project for the Air Force.  He will sure miss his little family!

The picture in the purple cast didn't show up for me either, Marilyn!  But your hand looks pretty good!

It was fun seeing everyone and holding babies yesterday at Tony's!

Lots to do today and I am not completely ready for church yet and need to leave in a few minutes.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

Marilyn, I couldn't see the purple cast either.  Glad your hand is doing well.

Janet, being away until Thanksgiving will seem like a long time for your grandson.  I don't think I know what a door harp is.  Too bad your work place doesn't give you more notice.

Al, the coffee maker sounds interesting.  How do you keep the mixture from getting stale?

Etta Sue, I have restored my computer quite a number of times and it isn't difficult but does take time.  As far as moving your files back that is really quite simple as you can simply find the folders you want to copy, click on the folder and hit copy and then go to your documents area on your laptop and hit paste.  I expect your already knew that process.

Folks, I appreciate your expressions of concern for me.  I just want you to know I am not looking for sympathy but just need to be frank about what apparently lies ahead for me and know we share in each others joys, sorrows and concern for health and other things in our lives.  That is why I have shared this information with you all.  Life is what it is and God has a reason for each of us being where we are in our lives.  Hopefully I have many years yet to live but if not that is fine also because I know who my Savior is.

We did get the high definition TV service installed yesterday afternoon and can definitely see a difference in the quality of the pictures even on our non-HD sets.  They had to install a different antenna outside and different receiver boxes in the house.  He really experienced no problems with it.  I then had to call for help in getting set up for the HD free for life and in so doing they save us three certificates for free pay-per-view movies.  I think in all of the years we have only rented two movies that way.  Pat gets to pick them out.

We are going to church and I will sing in the choir this morning.  I was worried last evening that I was going into another of my tired and pain periods as was extremely tired.  However, think it was do to all the supervision I had to give to the Dish Tech when he was here.  I just knew he couldn't do the job right if I didn't watch every move.  :)  Do you all do that also when someone comes to be something for you?  I don't know whether we will go to eat with the group as will depend on how we both feel when church is over.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

Al Moak

Larry - we keep the glass carafe full in the refrig, and it seems to keep it quite well.

Ruth

Larry - Janet and the others as well I really like that you take the time to share your special problems, it is a learning thing for me but I must also  say that with myself I tend to keep quiet as it seems that it comes back to haunt for what reason I do not know but then again I perhaps judge to harsh.

Something I will share though is that I was wrongly accused on facebook of a personal issue concerning a family member. If I had not received a private phone call we would have known nothing. Lesson to remember be careful what you put on facebook, but to end all of this I have also blocked the offender from my e-mail list and facebook as well.

On the good side of things I am still having trouble dealing with the death of my brother, yes I will be meeting him when it is my turn to leave this earthy life and it was just a day or so ago that the local pastor was walking past our home and I asked him to come in, following a time of sharing and prayer I really do feel a whole lot better    Praise God.

Yes we are getting rain and more rain thankfully it is not freezing.

Marilyn:  I will now check your pictures.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Janet

Larry, we all know you aren't looking for sympathy, and are so glad you keep us up to date on how you are doing.  A door harp is a wooden thing, can be most any shape, about two inches thick, with a hollow core (at least partly hollow) and has a hole in the front.  Then it has wooden pins (5) across the top, and metal pins (10) five on each side.  Wires (I think they are maybe guitar strings) are strung across to the metal pins, forming five "harp" strings.  From the wooden pegs, five wooden beads are suspended by wires, one to strike each string.  When the door is opened or closed, they are supposed to sort of play a little tune.  I have no idea how this one will sound--that is, when I figure out how to get the wires to stay in the pegs!  I'm thinking maybe I can make a bend at the right place to make it the right length, then cut it off and use softer wire to wrap around the peg to secure the wire so it doesn't slip out the little hole through the peg.  Clear as mud?  Sorry.   :-[

Ruth, I wish I could reassure you that we are friends here and that no one will intentionally do or say anything to hurt or embarrass you.  But we cannot promise what others' behavior may be.  I do hope you will feel comfortable enough here not to worry about it, though.  It's always good to read your posts.

We still haven't had frost here!  It is predicted for later this week, but in the meantime, the beautiful weather continues.

Hey!  The Kansas City Chiefs are doing great today!!  Hope they win!

Purple Cast.

Good Morning I was here to read before we went to Walmart for Cat food and Chicken. It started raining yesterday and over night the wind howled and the gusts were very noisy. the Rain  rushed to the ground as if it were trying to find a place to hide. Happy scratched and made so much noise  hitting that darn plastic e-collar and Marilyn didn't get much sleep between the wind, rain, Happy and my hand  being very uncomfortable. The  rain is now pouring again, we got out to Walmart and back home just in time.

I need to get some creating done today, I am getting behind in 1-2 of my groups. I just haven't felt like doing  much the last few days, I have felt so tired. I am  a lot less able to do things than I was when I had the soft cast on. This is so awkward. I don't like being so dependent on Keith to do the things I normally do.  I don't want to criticize him for not doing something "right" (the way I would do it), or forgetting to do something, i.e. cleaning off the top of the stove after cooking breakfast. Well you women know what I mean don'tcha?

Pat how are you feeling? Has there been any improvement? Now that Paul is there are you taking it easy and just trying to get well?

I gotta go  encourage Keith to get out ballots filled out so I can deliver them to the PO tomorrow, while I am out and about. Happy and Bebe are going to the groomer and I have to get gas in my car, I hope it isn't pouring rain.

Carol

We just drove home from the mountains this afternoon - because a winter storm warning was posted for the next three days and it is best we get out of that idea of being sorta trapped by the pass.  No animals to be seen in the park as they are in the warmest area they know - plus there is limited hunting in the park.

Whew - so tired from loading the car & up & down stairs then we thought we forgot Don's hearing aids but found them so that was good.

Larry:  You are quite frank about your health issues and so many people just shy away from discussing our demise yet to come when it is really a tribute to faith that we do talk about this subject.

Ruth:  I don't trust Facebook very much and especially will not play games since the farm game has been hacked.  Please don't pay attention to someone who spends their time telling tales.

Al:  Interesting idea with the coffee.  Are you all ready for winter weather in your area?  I mean those cold and heavy rains?   How is Marbeth?  Thinking of you.

Ugly Broncos game today as they lost so dismally and tied for the worst game in many years.

Hello Marilyn with the purple cast!  Now your hand will be safe from being jarred so think of it that way.  By the way, I know what you mean but won't write about it. ....

Janet

Hi Carol!  I was thinking about you today and wondering where you were.  Glad you are safely home again.

Pray, pray, pray about the election!  Then go vote!!!

See you all tomorrow.

We filled out out ballots tonight, I will drop them at the Post Office tomorrow while I am out and about doing errands. Dogs are going to the groomer in the morning. Bebe to have her nails cut and Happy to be shampooed and a haircut. He goes to the Vet next Tuesday and I want him clean and with short hair so the Dr can see  his skin. I hope he don't get to cold until his hair grows out, he doesn't spend a lot of time outdoors anymore. He sleeps a lot. I wish I knew what he was allergic t o that has him scratching himself raw. I give him Benedryl like the Vet told me to do and he still itches.
