Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

      Morning Devotional...

Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
      1 Corinthians 15:57

We often speak of salvation as a gift from God but here is another amazing gift from above.

As we face a world of uncertainties, with "wars and rumors of wars," He gives us the victory.

Soon the Lord will take us from these battles to safety in heaven, but in all the "meanwhiles" He has promised to be with His own in the furnace and trials of life and lead us to triumph. He said, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."

How comforting to know that when we face the battles of life, our victorious Captain is leading the way and giving us the victory.
                                                                                   --Milton Haack

What a Saviour, tender and loving,
Guarding my footsteps lest I should stray,
Love so abundant, leading me ever
Out of the darkness and into the day.
      [/color]

I had an email from our Mieka!  I'm going to share part of it here as I'm sure that many of you will be very interested and will pray for her as she travels.

Quote I did try to tell everyone I had to go away with my family. The CP it was broken and I did not get to say a good bye to everyone. I did ask ms Soni if she can tell everyone I am away and I think perhaps she did not see it that I ask.

Today I do not know where I am. I am in the Ketchikan for some days last week. It is SO SO cold here.
I can not see the cp here and only sometimes i can see my emails. I did see a email from ms Bice today too but I do not know how I can thank her for this. Please tell her I am only away a short time and I will be home again in some weeks. I am safe with my family here.

I did get to go to a very far places here. It is a airplane for the water. I see the people here they live in the snow and they have not a cars here. It is my wonder why they wish to live here. The water it is so cold.  It is not to go in it here. The people are very strange to look at. Amalia she is my new friend here. She can not hear. The others here they think A Chinese is a look very strange. They did not ever see a Chinese before. And I did not ever see them before too, so we only look for a long time.

At night my father will talk of his time in the Nepal. I did not know it is so cold as this. And in other place too, i did not know people can live here.

I thank you for my email from you today ms Pat. Please say a hi to everyone for me too. It is not a internet here at all and my phone it is not a work so good here too.
and a (((hug))) for you and for ms Bice too that you think of me when I am away.

      Love

      Mieka

She sent me a couple of photos and I'll put them in our Photos area.

Good morning your all 10.20 AM

Thank Pat for your good devotional this morning.
Al thank also for you good words yesterday.
But i am missing Papa John Where are you Papa John
You all are very good yesterday.
I first have reading this morning because when the last people in America an Canada then it is night in Holland
      and we are sleeping then.
We have the first catastrophe in Holland.
Owing to the very dry weather in Holland the
potato harvest is very bad. Only the potato's they are coming late when we are getting rain they will be
a little bit better. But not so as other years.
Also the people hey have a garden where they cultivate
potator"s and vegetables that is very bad.
We now are getting import potato's and vegetables
But that is making potato's and vegetables very
      expensive.
This afternoon i must go to my own chiropracter he is back.
Marilyn i am thinking on you and i pray for you.
Greetings for your all may be i come back this day
      God bless you all
      Ria :)

      10.30 a.m.

      Good Morning "Little Flock".

It is dull and over clouded here today but I am going to Praise God....At this moment I "take every thought captive" and let Jesus take control.

Janet told us yesterday of her Pastor's message and I agree.  We must try to see the good things that are happening in the world and above all to make "Love" our aim.

Ria it is sad re the harvest and I expect it will be the same in Lincolnshire as it is just across the water from Holland.  We too shall have high prices. I expect Jersey and Guernsey will do well from us with exports of produce.  I do enjoy a good Jersey Mid. in season....but everything is so mixed up now and we have to eat what we get and thank God for it. We still have lots of choice on our shelves..Thank-You Father....Where Mieka is it will be so different.

Mieka is missed.  Please convey to her if poss. Pat.  ...Poor darling I can't stand the cold and she must be longing to get back to the warmth.  I am sure that she is bringing much joy to the folks where she is now...Is it the Himalayas?.................

Pat thanks for the info re "Ten Commandments" I will double check this later.

"Let us fear nothing more than we fear Thee.
Let us love nothing more than we love Thee,. whether Nation or Party or State or Church."  Alan Paton.

Heavenly Father Give us the courage to stand up and be counted  as we see the Day approaching. Refine us I pray. Help us to share of Thy Bounty......Amen!

God Bless and keep you all safe in His Love.
      Jenny.

      Maria

Jenny what did you say in England you have the same problems as in Holland. Yes Jenny we must pay more

Larry you also have send nice music to us.

Ruth Ann i am glad that you have had a very nice day
      on Saturday.

But now i must go to my chiropracter  :(

Bye your all God Bless you  love Ria  :)

      Pat

      Good Morning Ria and Jenny...

That's too bad about the potato harvest--which reminds me that I must go and see how my barrel did with its potatos this year.  The tops are all brown and wilted now so it's time to find out if there are any potatoes in the barrel.

I must leave now for Hamilton.  This is the day that my neighbour, Larry, finds out if any of the treatments have helped him.  He's to see the doctor today.

      I'll be back later.

Sorry folks...Ketchikan is in Alaska...Halibut (Lovely.we can't get this here anymore, lost our fishing to the Norwegians!!! I just remember the taste from my childhood) salmon, pulp, lead and Zinc......per Pears Cyclopaedia.

Amazing pics. from Mieka. I feel cold already!

      Jenny.

      JudyB

Good morning all.  John and his mom arrived last night about 6:30.  Melaura went south with John to take the course that John was teaching.

Mom enjoyed reading the posts from Ria and the rest of you.

Pat I still have strawberries for you. and will have blueberries coming when John comes south for his next teaching engagement.

We had a wonderful morning in church yesterday.  Pastor was talking about being overwhelmed.  He used Mary, the mother of Jesus as his example.   the example was great. Can you imagine how she felt being a young girl and being told she was about to have a child and she had never has relations with anyone?  As he said Wow if that isn't overwhelmed nothing is.  What she did was Praised God, for WHO he is, went to another who was older and wiser for counsil and she waited.  How often do we Jump in and start "doing" things when we are overwhelmed.  I am getting a copy of the message and if anyone would like a copy email me.

We have a cloudy dresry day here.  Ria and Jenny I wish I could send you some rain.  It would be nice for another couple of weeks to have some hot weather, I really don't like the cold, like Meika, the heat is better.

Well after meeting with Doug, John is home.  I must go and have a cup of tea with him and Mom.

      Bye for now,
      JudyB

      Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I had a lot of posts to read from yesterday.  As I mentioned yesterday our choir sang at both services and then Pat and I went out with 13 other folks for lunch and it was after 2 pm when we got home.  I was pretty tired even after a nap and am feeling the effects today as feel draggy.  Not to worry, as I will get rested up.

I certainly agree with the comments regarding the ACLU.  My Bible reading has been in Jeremiah for the last several days and he spoke so often of the wicked conditions existing and God's wrath over those conditions.  It seems I can see so much of our own world today in what I have been reading.  I am so thankful that I have Jesus Christ and don't have to worry about tomorrow.  I sometimes think if we bcome anymore politically correct we are going to be morally dead as a country.  God's plan and purpose will not be interfered with and that is reassuring.

Marilyn, it sounds like you will have a fine opportunity to witness, even if restricted, as you talk to the young people.

Pat, good devotional this morning and I am glad you have heard from Mieka.  It sounds like she is having quite an experience.

Etta Sue, glad that Jerry was able to make it to church yesterday.  While tiring I expect it was very good for him and perhaps will help him regain his strength.

Jenny and Ria, good to read your posts today.  Don't like hearing about the crop failures.

      Janet

      Good morning/afternoon all!

It is a bright, hot day today; they predict it will go well over 100 degrees again.

It's SO GOOD to know our little Mieka is well, and traveling again.  I would love to see the area of Alaska she is visiting!  I really do not mind the cold, as long as I have plenty of warm clothing and a fire to warm up beside, after I come in.  I had a wonderful time a few years ago when a young friend took me dog mushing in Alaska.  This was in the Anchorage area; I haven't made it to the far north part of Alaska yet.

I have another busy day again today.  Mom wants me to come sort through some of her stuff in preparation of her moving to the care home.  All of my siblings will be here on Friday to finish the job.  It's always sad when a person has to give up their independence and go into a care home, but it was way past time for her.  She should have done this three years ago.  I'm just thankful she finally made the decision herself and we didn't have to do it for her. :)

Since I am in a hurry, I won't speak to each of you individually; but please know I read every post, and love each of you!  God bless, and I will be back later if I can.

      Be back later.

      Papa John

      Good morning,

Pat, I am sorry I haven't contributed much here lately.  I have no excuses other than to say we have been on the go a lot and I have had to limit my computer time a little.

This morning Cornelia is cooking food for us to take to the home of a good friend who is burying his sister today.  Seems like there is a lot of sickness around here which touches our lives more and more as we get older.  It is wonderful though to keep in mind that we have a Saviour and we are pilgrims here waiting for the time when we go home.

Thanks for sharing the email from Mieka.  I'm going now over to see the pictures she sent.

      Carol

Papa John:  How nice of Cornelia to fix food and bring to a house that is so occupied with the loss of a dear spouse.  Your comfort will be needed as well as the everlasting comfort of our Saviour.

Pat:  Thanks - Don is better each day.  We have gone on a diet and I am trying to eat the manufactured liquid eggs but they just taste awful to me even with a mushrooms added and other things some days.  Any ideas?

Etta Sue:  Jerry has always been mowing the lawns and it is nice of you to return the favor.  Say hi to Jerry.

Jane:  Oh, what a troublesome house.  Wish that we were closer  to help you fix a few things.  I am praying for you.

Jenny:  Good that you are stopping the virus attacks on the computer.  We run checks all the time too.  There are a lot of awful people out there who just want to do rotten things.

Janice:  It sounds like Earl might be allergic to sulfa.  We found out the hard way that our daughter was allergic to sulfa and she was very ill.

I am praying for the people in Bombay who experienced the bombings.  All over the world.

Mieka:  I really liked Ketchikan but it is cooler.  Miss your posts.  I hope that the rest of the trip goes well for you.  Carol

Nice to see you back today Papa John.
And Judy B thanks for the message that John and his
mother are coming savely home. Greatings for John's
      mother.
      Bye for now  RIA

      Etta Sue

Marilyn ~ It is good to see your post.  I have been praying for God to release you from your depression.  Keep on keeping on, sister.

Trish ~ So good to see you posting.  I have times that I can't sleep.  I have found that if I think of pleasant things where I am not busy, I tend to fall asleep.  So I think of walking on the beaches in Hawaii.  The sounds of the surf in my head puts me to sleep.

mamapo ~ Neighbor!  I know where Hamilton is and have been there a few times.  I am located northeast of Indianapolis but also, I am only about 12 miles from the Church of God in Anderson and Anderson University.  I  go to the Family Christian Bookstore near there often.
Am I right in thinking that 'The Gaithers' are from the Church of God in Anderson, too?  I know their home town is Alexandria, north of Anderson and they have performed many times at the Paramount Theater in Anderson.  I love them.

karma ~ I will bite.....what is 'decoration'?  Glad you had a great time in Gatlinburg.  That is my son and DIL's favorite vacation spot....other than Longboat Key in Florida.    They would like to build a cabin there someday.

Jen ~ Glad you could watch Geordie and Lauren for Pat.  I wish I had someone to stay here.  Ali Cat did okay but it took a few days for her to realize I was here to stay.  Even when I walk out on the deck, she cries incisively!

ruthie ~ I pray that your first day back to work after a vacation is great.  Soon you will be retired....and you will wish you were back to work.....NOT!!!!

Pat ~ Thanks for posting the email from Mieka.  I pray that she knows how fortunate she is to be living in America and with Papa and that she is traveling to see other places of this world.  She must be way north in Alaska for it to be so cold as she speaks about it.  I am happy that she found a non-hearing friend.  I am wondering if her new friend will be able to write letters to Mieka when Mieka returns to Malibu.  That would be great for both of them.  I wish I had Mieka's email address.

Ria ~ It seems that the weather this year is a factor everywhere.  Here, it was sooooo wet in the spring but now it seems to be sooooo dry.  I live in a farming community with corn and soy beans being the main crops.  No vegetable farms here.  I will pray for your vegetable crops, Ria.

Jenny ~ It is bright and sunny in Indiana.  I have my sheets hanging on the line to dry.

JudyB ~ We need rain here.  Again, I drove over 4,000 miles and only about 10 minutes of that was in the rain and it wasn't a hard rain either.  But then rain...causes grass to grow and when grass grows, I have to mow!!!  My morning devotional said that nearly everything we see and do can be bad or good.  That is why God gave us the gift of free will.  It is us that chooses whether it is a curse or a blessing.  Rain can be good or bad.

Larry ~ Good to see your posts.  It is encouraging for Jerry and I to see how far you have come with your health problems.  I encouraged Jerry to write a message on his laptop on notepad.  His eyesight in his right eye comes and goes.  He often shuts his right eye to see good.  It took Jerry about an hour to compose and type his message but I am a great encourager and told him I was pleased that he tried and succeeded.  But it wore him out.  He is asleep in his room with Ali Cat being the faithful watch cat at his door.

Janet ~ Sorry to hear that your mother is making the move to a care home.  It was hard for us kids to see Mom in a Transitional Care Unit but it did take the burden of caring for Mom away from us.  When we visited, we could visit...not be burdened with caring for her physical needs.  She was happy there and that made us happy.

Papa John ~ Great to see your post.  I was wondering if your back was the reason for not posting.  But so glad it is because you are busy...so your back must be much improved.  Thank God!

Carol ~ Great to see you posting and to hear that Don is improving each day.  Liquid eggs?  Do you microwave them or cook them on the stove?  I like them microwaved but don't over do them.  Tough!!!

      ?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`

      Ruth Ann Bice

Here in the South, graves are "decorated" on specified days, usually during the better weather found in spring, summer, fall. These are days when whole communities come, not only to bring flowers and to clean up the graves, but also to have sort-of family reunions.

Decoration day for my father's side of the family (in Jasper, AL) comes on Mothers Day weekend each year.

It's so good to be able to read your comments, my friends. And, to know we have the love and support of all our friends, worldwide! Wasn't it good to hear from Mieka.

Have we heard from Shinenlite lately? I'm still praying for her.

Hope all the back troubles ease soon - I've had spinal arthritis since age 17, so can certainly empathize with pain and difficulties with one's back.

...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

      karmat

Yep, decoration is exactly that Ruth Ann.  I think as the family cemeteries phase out, they will eventually become obsolete here in the South as well..  For now, though, in the mountains of WNC, it is a strong tradition.  We usually attend at least 2 a year.

I'm swamped at work, so this is short.

Take care, and I will write more later!

Hello everyone, sorry it took me so long to get on today.  I had a guest over for lunch.

Etta Sue, it was a nice break for me too.  I got an entire house to myself, which is definitely a switch from having eight people in a two and a half bedroom house!  It was nice though, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time.

Pat, I'm sorry, I didn't get your last post last night, so I went to get my stuff this morning.  I thought you might have been in bed still, and Geordie was soooo excited!  Anyway, I'll call later though.  Thanks.  Jen.

      Jenny

      Ruth Ann,
I contacted Jo.  two weeks ago before Chris was poorly.  She said she's busy setting up her new site...but would pop in sometime.

The evenings are drawing in here and after a stuffy day it is quite cool and dark early.....time to check out the Winter woollies, blankets etc., Some need a good wash.  I seem to get more behind these days.  These were jobs I always did in Spring.......

It's been a Bank Holiday today, so roads have been busy.  The park was too this afternoon.  I popped over to the little shop on my "chariot" for some small items to tide over.

      Speak to all tomorrow.
      Goodnight, God bless,
      Jenny.

      Jerry L. Sowers

Hi to all. I am only posting. I am getting sore and can only do so much. So here is my post about myself.

Here I am. I am typing on my laptop and trying not to make any mistakes. Etta Sue has been a big help to me. She has been keeping you updated and I know it has been correct because she is that way about things.

I got a telephone call from two precious people this morning, Oscar and Lorra Dorr. They are so great and wanted me to know that Lorra went through the same thing I am. I am glad to hear from them both.

I have heard about the Bash from Etta Sue and it sounds as if everyone asked about the gabby one. Not so gabby right now and will take a while before I am my old self again, but know that I will be me again.  I have enjoyed all the cards and I hope and pray for each of you.

      JLT (Jerry, the gabby one)

I am posting this in more than one site so you can read about and from the old gabby one himself.

      Pat

      OH JERRY!!!
How wonderful to see a post from you!  Keep getting better, Jerry.  God bless you and we're still praying for you!

I want to thank all of you for your concern and prayers regarding my continuing saga of unpleasant events!  I tried to stay off line all day today because the insurance adjuster was supposed to call.  He did...at 7:15 EDT.  He told me he'd mail his estimate and a check (minus the $250 deductible) tomorrow from Michigan and I will then have to get the repairs and replacements done.  A friend told me last night that her neighbor is really good at home repairs and he "owes" her so he can do anything I need him to do and I won't have to pay him too much.  She says "throw in a couple home cooked meals and he'll be happy."   ;)  Anyway, I know this is all going to turn out just right ... or maybe even better than that!

I am sure happy to see that we've heard from Mieka, and JERRY is posting!  Whoopeee!! ;D

Y'all take care and I'll be around ... some place.

      love, Jane

      Papa John

Well it is good to see everyone today.

Etta Sue, my back still troubles me a lot.  The pain medication does help.  There are some things you just have to live with and I can do that.

Jerry!  The gabby one!  It is so good to have a word directly from you.  I thought about calling you but I didn't have a phone number.  In any case you have been in my prayers and we are all happy you are beginning to regain your strength.  I am thankful for the help Etta Sue is giving in your care.  She has really been faithful keeping us up-dated on your situation.

Marilyn your faith and determination will get you through your problems.  Please do not become discouraged.  God is good and nothing is too hard for the Lord.

I hope you all have a good rest tonight.

      ---- Papa John    ;D

I am SOOOO tired tonight!  Who would think that sorting out old letters, family photos, and mementos would be so exhausting?  My goodness!

Trish, I haven't congratulated you yet on your engagement.  and I'm sorry for that.  My best wishes and prayers for your future are sure winging their way to the Throne.  ;D

Jerry, what a wonderful surprise to see your post!  I'm sure it must have been very trying for you but it really means a lot to us to know you've progressed to this point.  Keep up the good work!  Meanwhile, this is for you:   :-*

Jenny, how is Chris feeling these days?  I hope that with the new job he's feeling tip top.

Back to part time at work again.  Whew!  That was a long week.  :-\  Now I have a major revision to the Village code book in the works.  They added a new loooong paragraph to one section which meant the next 10 pages of the section had to be repaginated.  I can't just let Word take care of that because the pages are numbered by section so I have to go in and do each one by hand, rearranging all the paragraphs and formatting.

I got that all done and started printing ... and ran out of black ink.   Put in a new cartridge and it didn't print, and of course I was doing the reverse sides of two pages and it got all bollixed up.   I think I've got it all set now, though.  But it will just have to wait until tomorrow!  :o

P.S.  See, I knew Mieka was going to be traveling!  ;D  (But I still don't know where I saw it.)

Jane, it's to bad we're way on the other side of the continent.  Gene is a really good "fixer-upper" and could have you all squared away in no time.

      Larry Hanna

This is indeed a red letter day in seeing Jerry post again.  Also good to see Papa John and Trish back and to have word from Mieka. Hope I haven't forgotten anyone.

I spent a lot of today working on the webpage for our church.  Since the meeting I had last week with the staff I have been keeping busy.  I should have it in pretty good shape after another day of work.  However, it is going to be quite a bit of work to keep things current.  I built a sitemap yesterday for the site so it would be easier for folks to find their way around the site.

Carol, for the last couple of weeks I have been eating Eggbeaters for breakfast as I am trying to cut out flour and thus can't have cereal for breakfast.  I got the SouthWestern blend and cut up a  couple of slices of Canadian bacon and put it in 1/2 cup of the Eggbeaters.  I microwave them for 1 minutes and then stir and cook for 45 seconds more.  I am finding them very tasty and much better than plain Eggbeaters.  It is nice and spicey.

      See you all tomorrow.

      Pat

Hi Jeanne...  I don't know either!  I did a little search and couldn't see anything about her going away!  :-\
