I did a first for me last evening.  I attended a meeting for Vacation Bible School at church.  I told them that I attended VBS as a little girl a loooong time ago.  But I have never worked at a VBS.  But I am a warm body and willing to help wherever I am needed .... all except teach!  It was fun and I am looking forward to working with these little kids June 27 -- July 1.

Ivalou and I did our rehab and then we ate at Long John Silvers.  The fish was as good as I remembered. 

I came home and a nap was in store.  First I was woken by the doorbell.  Kaye Don is building a deck on the front of their house and wanted to know if I had Dad's post hole digger.  I didn't think so but he was welcome to look in the garage and if I have it, he could use it...and keep it for all I care.  I won't ever use it!  But he went out of the garage empty handed.  Then back to sleep and the phone rang.  Unknown and no answer!  By then I was wide awake and got up!

Today is my class luncheon.  I am anxious to let them all know that I have talked to the one and only class member that we had no information about on the phone.  Also got a picture in email this week that I have printed out! 

That's it for today.  We had high winds, lightening to the north and a little rain last night.  Today is overcast with some sun once in a while!  Not suppose to be as hot today! 

yeah i have a new kitten... my mom (JudyB) forgot to mention his name... hehe leaving that for me mom? because when i move out i am aloud to bring my kitten with me i decided to name him Dakota!  thanks mom for letting me get him xoxo

It is a cold day today.  We have the heat on!  The thunder storm was a nonevent.

The one I love to listen to who is an apologetisist (sp) is Ravi Zacharias.  He is absolutely amazing.  I have purchased a book of his for John to read.  It is amazing.  If you have the opportunity to hear him yo will be blessed.

I have 6 small jobs on the agenda today and then I have Kassie's boy friend coming over for the evening.  Rather they be here than elsewhere.  Even in this cold 61*F day they are planning on going swimming.  I do believe they are crazy!

Not cold here, Judy.  Upper 80's and a severe storm watch.  But then by tomorrow we're supposed to only get up to 70.  

Food shopping this morning - at least I remembered to bring a sweater to wear in the grocery store.  With my car still in the shop for maybe another week, I had to swallow my pride and ask a friend from church to chauffeur me for a couple of errands.  I had to get my lot rent into the mail today or pay an extra $40, and I was out of such essentials as toilet paper, milk and bread - not to mention "goodies".  Now I'm all set for a while.  

Al, thanks for the explanation of "apologetics".  Sounds like something I should study up on.

I didn't get an email notification twice since I posted.  I noticed last evening that I didn't have one and checked here and there were posts after me.  And again this morning, another post was posted and no email notification.  What's going on?

It just started raining with thunder and a tad bit of lightening.  I think there was some small hail also.  And I am getting ready to go to rehab in a few minutes.  The farmers need a drizzle...sure makes the soy beans and corn grow as well as all the personal gardens that have been planted.  And the grass!!

The class lunch was great yesterday and I called Cornerstone Inn to make reservations for May 30 and 31 for 2012 for the class.  It may still be the same ones but we had fun this year! 

And the planning committee for the church Family picnic the last Sunday this month got a lot of business done.  Now to get out there and get some items from businesses for the silent auction.

Etta Sue you may have to disable then re enable notifications here.  I have had to do that as well in the past.

A beautiful day in the neighborhood today, the temperature is already going up and is at yeaterday's high already.  Was up during the night and shut down the furnace.  The warmth of the covers was enough, and eventually off they went.

Hi everyone.  

Well our plans changed yesterday when about 7:30 our daughter called saying she was headed back to the ER across the street as was once again having severe chest pain and her blood pressure was very high, over 200/ 100 something.  So Pat went down with me and visited with her in the ER while I had a 5 minute appointment and had my pacemaker/defibrillator checked.  It hadn't used much of the battery in the three months since the last check so that was great.  I then joined Pat in the ER and visited with Stacey.  They did admit her for observation overnight but would not give her the medication she needed so she checked herself out and went home last evening sometime.  I don't try to understand what is going on as this is her business.  The tests again indicated no heart attack although the EKG showed changes and her blood pressure continued to change.  

We did get the phone situation finalized last night so the home number is now my cellphone number.  We no longer have house phones.  However, when I got up this morning we had no internet so I spent another hour on the phone with AT&T support to get that resolved.  The problem related to the port the internet had ended up being connected to but has now been resolved.  Hopefully I am through dealing with these issues as it has been quite a process.  The support people were great and I just stayed patient and it all worked out.

Ruth Ann and Al, thanks for the info on the meaning of apologetics.  If I had heard that before I had forgotten it and not sure I every asked about it before.  

Etta Sue, good for you in helping with the VBS.  It is an important part of the children's ministries in a church.  Our church will have there in mid to late July.  I remember using the old post hole digger and they were a lot of work.  Dad would have to use it on the farm on occasion.  I sounds like they have you involved in a lot of things at your church but what better way to spend your time and you seem to really be enjoying it.

Kazzii, I think you have a pretty special mom.  I like the name of your cat.

Judy, wow, heat on again.  It is so hot here it is hard to imagine.  I have heard Ravi Zacharias on Moody Broadcast Network a long time ago if I recall correctly.

Need to get out and get my run-around errands done before it gets any hotter.  

Earlier I said, "Christian aspologetics is that aspect of Christian teaching that deals with "proofs" of the truth of Christianity and the like.  It's the philosophical approach a Christian can use in dealing with an unbeliever."  That is truly what "apologetics" is.  But I do not want to leave the impression that we can reason anyone into the Kingdom.  We cannot.  That's God's work and His alone.  The human mind is a fallen mind, completely incapable of reaching out to God in repentance.  It remains for God alone to reach into  the human heart and to, as it were, "turn on the light."  We must  thank God and God alone if any of us surrenders to God, admits rebellion, and returns to his rightful King.  But we have an obligation nevertheless to give a reason for the faith that is in us (1 Pet. 3:15).

AMEN AL!!!

Today is a PD Day for kassie.  She has just given me breakfast, french toast!.  Yumm.

Ruth Ann, I know how much it means to be able to help - I was blessed to be one of the "givers" for a long time.   But when "the shoe is on the other foot", there's the matter of my pride, which the Lord has to work on again and again.

Hi everyone.  Another Saturday has quickly rolled around.  It seems this has been the week to spend hours on the phone with AT&T to get my new phones set up and the Internet taken care of.  I think as of yesterday morning I finally made it and thought I was through with them for the time being.  Yesterday afternoon a friend called and was having Internet problems so went to help her and spent another hour on the phone with them but wasn't able to resolve the issue and apparently she has a bad modem.  I am trying to find a friend here who might had an old unused one on the shelf so she doesn't have to buy a new one.

I got a lot of things done yesterday, except didn't get my closet cleaned out so hope to do that today.  I did make a fast trip to Kohl's but then found my $10 Kohl Cash wasn't good until the 13th and the coupon is still good until the 15th so decided to wait until then to buy the new Food Network skillets.  I stopped at Wal-Mart, got the car washed and filled with gas and that was a full morning.

Al, thanks for adding the additional information on "Christian apologetics".  I have often wondered why some people accept Christ and others don't. 

Jeanne, there comes a time when we need to accept the help others want to give us knowing that just as when you helped others you benefited by having the sense of knowing you have done so.  I believe that in not wanting to accept readily offered help we deny that pleasure and sense of satisfaction for the other person.

Gord, my daughter's health is in such a state that it is going to be maintence and hope it doesn't deteriorate any more.  I am just thankful when she has a good day, which isn't very often.  Pat and I try to take care of ourselves and know the limits.  Hope you and Noreen have a great weekend.

Rehab in the pool of 92 degree water was great!  I loved it.  And also found out that after I 'graduate' I can go to the pool Tuesday mornings and Friday mornings for maintenance at $5 a trip.  Not bad.  Better than the Monon Center.  That membership runs out July 14 and I am not going to renew it. 

I did have a problem at rehab though.  After rehab I went into the dressing room.  I had put my combination lock on the locker.  I tried and tried and tried to open the lock...using 37-28-19.  I knew those were the numbers.  Here I was in my swimsuit.  The house phone wouldn't let me call Lapel number so I could call Kitty.  Her lock is the same combination.  After 10-15 minutes I went back out to the pool to talk to an instructor to see if I could use a cell phone or whatever.  Just as I went out there, a man sitting on a bench in street clothes was using his cell phone.  I asked him if I could use it.  I called Kitty.  What's the combination?  19-28-37!!  I had it backwards!  Voila!  It worked and I was dressed in no time!  Dumb me!! 

Today Ivalou and I are going to a birthday party for our one-year old g-g-nephew!  We heard there are to be 67 people.  It is at 11am so I am thinking they are feeding us.  And a tent is set up in the back yard!  All this for a one-year old!  What kind of a shindig will they do when he graduates from high school?  Plus they live in Nevada so flew into Grandma's to have this party!  I, truly, think Open House, birthday parties and weddings are getting way out of hand!!

I got notification email today but it is still slower to get on CP than any other website!  Especially when posting!!  That saying, if I haven't put on the new Thoughts tomorrow by 6pm, would someone move it from the Back Room for me?

Hi Folks Been a while since I have been on this site. Been very busy lately with work and the Road Knights agenda and then at home with the arrival of spring going to summer the honey do list has grown quite long. All the rain we have had this year has not been helping me get caught up in that area.
Larry: In answer to your comment about elogs, yes they are connected with GPS for location, but what they do is automatically record what the truck is doing in terms of driving and unduty time. It still will let the driver put in offduty and sleeper berth time but this will automatically change to driving the moment the truck is put into motion. Therefore it is impossible to flasify the logs or change them around. It is a great tool to control the pressures of the business and ensure that the driver gets adequate rest. The logs will not change to onduty one minute before sufficient rest time has been recorded. I love it but dispatch is sometimes a bit frustrated with getting used to the change. I think what makes it worse for them to is that I am the only truck in the fleet on the system. The recording of duty statis is much more accurate with elogs as it records to the minute and not in 15 minute increments as paper logs do. I seem to be the company test dummy for all new appliances brought into the company.
Al: Thank you for your explaination of Christian Apologetics. I often listen to the speakers on the radio in the truck that work in this area of ministry but never really understood the meaning of it till now. This will bring new and much better understanding of the messages that I listen from this day forward. I thank you for that enlightenment. Well going to run for now. Home for 3 days this weekend. I would like to apologize to my Christian friends here for my son Gilbert who was so impudent to me on Facebook last night, I don't  know how many saw what he said to me before I deleted it, and the post that  caused him to say those things. I am pretty sure Etta Sue saw them both and Judy saw some of the following comments. I am very hurt by his  outrageous behavior and I am asking that you pray for him to change his  attitude and to stop beating me up over my past life.

Marilyn I saw the other comments and sympathized.  I do understand the problems you are having.  I am praying.  I was going to comment then decided not to.  Not to worry.

I had a rough night last night.  Didn't sleep till after 7 this morning.  Ugg. One thing that was nice was to watch the sunrise.  That was a first living here!  It was very pretty.

Judy I have removed all those postings from my  wall and I hope that they are removed from everyone's news feed on FB.  I am not ashamed of my past, but I am ashamed of the words  that came from my son. He had no right to say those things to me publicly or at any other time.

Marilyn:  I tend to not check Facebook very often because a someone put something on mine that was not appropriate & I did sign off for a few weeks.  Very difficult to monitor. 

Don finished painting a planter that fits the front of  a wall near our steps - I chose a dark brown and the flowers are bright orange/red.

What a nice evening we had.  Out to Walmart for a few things, then to supper at Swiss Chalet.  While we were there there was a man at the table next to us that I felt was trying to make contact and was a little confused at the reason.  After a bit HE spoke .  I knew I should recognize him, but sure didn't. He quickly cleared up my confusion.  Grover Crosby and his wife Faith and us had a wonderful time of fellowship.  They were family friends from the late 50's and 60's.  Also our pastor when we lived south of here.  We caught up on their family history and they on ours.  I was encouraged to keep praying.

Home now and to bed early.

CP was slow in loading again today.  Hope I can get on this afternoon.  It's getting so that I am dreading trying to get on CP.  And note that no other website for me is slow.  My deductions is that it is a CP problem.

Marilyn ~ When I read the post your son wrote, I was hurt for you.  I can only imagine how hurt you were.  I didn't even remember what you posted that caused that.  Then I remembered.  His response was uncalled for to you personally or on the internet.  Talking about publicly saying something on the internet!  He was way out of line.  I praise you for the change you have made in your life...any change for the good of Christ is good.  Besides you will answer to Him...not to him.

The birthday party was fun.  Lots of people and it was explained that the party was more for the parents and their friends and family coming there instead of them having to go to their friends...since they are from Fallon, Nevada.  Colt, the one-year old, is a cutie and walking everywhere.  They got his own personal cake and needless to say, it was all over him!

It is bright and sunny today and a little cool.  But I am sure it will warm up this afternoon.

Hi everyone.  We have an early church service today as only one service this morning.  Today is Pentecost Sunday but don't think that is the reason for the one service.  Then there is a meeting at 5 pm this evening for the pastor to talk with us about what went on at the last General Assembly of our denomination that is causing a lot of concern and division in the church.

Not going to be quite as hot today.  We had a lot of thunder yesterday afternoon and no rain.  No rain in the forecast for today.

Nothing else on the calendar for today.

Etta Sue, that poor child will be overwhelmed with that many people in attendance at the birthday party.  Good thing Kitty remembered the correct code.

John, thanks for the explanation of the elogs.  I expect that will soon be the standard required for safety sake. 

Marilyn, sorry to read of the discord impacting you now.  Just remember you can't control what someone else does but have the right to draw the boundaries for your own life.  This sort of thing can only ruin your day or days if you let it and then it is you who are paying the price of unhappiness and not the person doing the hurtful thing. 

Judy, that made a really long night.  Hope you slept better last night.  How nice to meet old friends and have a chance to catch us.  The world is actually quite small and we never know whom we will meet when we go out.

Etta Sue, the slowness of the site is of concern to me as well.  I usually just click on the link, open another tab and go on with something else until it usually finally loads.  My main concern is that others will become frustrated and move away form these discussions and we sure don't want that.  Each day I hope it will become as responsive as other websites. 

Yes, this site is slow.  I find it to be intermittent - sometimes the response to a click will be really fast and then the next one will time out a couple of times.

The problem seems to be that the server needs a new part that has to be installed.  I know Pat is frustrated over the delay and has been in regular contact with the people at the server.

Interesting Neither John or I had a problem today getting on the site.  We have had problems with other sites!  I can't explain it.
