Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

SEEKING AFTER TRUTH

Verse

We have received... that spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given us of God. 1 Corinthians 2:12

We live in a mixed-up kind of world in which many people are not at all sure of what they believe or what they ought to believe. Some churches advertise that way-you do not have to believe anything: "just be a seeker after truth." Some actually settle for poetry, siding with Edwin Markham who "saw his bright hand sending signals from the sun." I, for one, never had any such signals from God. We have Bibles everywhere and the gospel is preached faithfully. Yet men and women seek God in old altars and tombs-in dark and dusty places, and finally wind up believing that God is sending signals from the sun. Some folks get mad at me when I say that this kind of "seeking after truth" needs to be exposed. We need to double our efforts in telling the world that God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. It must be the Truth of God and the Spirit of God! Far from being an optional luxury in our Christian lives, the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit is a necessity!

Thought

We need to double our efforts in telling the world that God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.

Prayer

Lord, give me strength to let people know that you are the only way to salvation. May I be used to point people away from vain attempts at fulfillment.

Great devotional, Don.  We need to know, and be ready to say, that there is One Truth, and that is God.

Don, what a good devotional reading to get us started on this new page.

May our Lord be with all those who have the characteristics pointed out in the Beatitudes. For He alone will be with us through these times.

Love to all,

Don Thank you for the devotional good thoughts to keep in mind.

Well I'm back It looks like the rain has stopped so I need to leash up the dogs one at a time and take them for their walks. I need the walks too.

I can't wait to get my new camera. Gilbert bought Savannah (my  15 year old grand) a Nikon D3100 with the case and two lenses, boy oh boy would I ever like to have that camera.

Thanks Don.  So many in our day are trying to find compromises with various ideas and offshoots of Biblical truth.  They don't want to "offend" anyone, but they are offending the God of truth.  We must not compromise with essentials.

Hello everyone on C.P.!! I just went back and realized that I had not posted anything since May 26!!

Drive safe Ruth!

Don thank you for the devotional, and all that entailed!

John is back to work, and he is already missed!

Etta Sue

Thanks, Don, for the great devotion!

Busy weekend.  But a lazy one.  Every since starting Zyrtec, I want to sleep a lot!  But it is really helping me and I love to sleep anyway!

Rehab today.  I am driving and either Teresa or Jo is at Ivalou's and is going with us.  Maybe I can talk to one of them...see if either of them has rode with Ivalou while driving.  I am thinking that I am the only person that has rode with her.  I mentioned her Friday driving to the ladies who went out to eat after church and they seemed to give Ivalou excuses for her driving.  So I just asked them if they have rode with her.  NO.  So I said that I have and I don't feel safe riding with her!  I will ask from now on if she wants me to drive my car or her car.

Off I go to rehab!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  The sky is clear and it is going to be another beautiful, but hot, day here in Georgia.  It was really nice yesterday and didn't get too hot, not that I was out in it very much.  I did attend church and then stop and pick up something for lunch as Pat wasn't up to going yesterday.

Today the housekeepers come and the yard people.  It has been 4 weeks since the housekeepers were here so they have a bit to do.  I have my men's luncheon, as usual, on Monday and then this evening have an activity.  So it will be a busy day.

Janet, wonderful that Shirley had the foresight to get that medical insurance as it has been and is being a blessing to her on this mission trip.  She will always know that she gave it her best on this mission.  Know you will be glad to see her get home or at least back to the USA.

Etta Sue, sounds like it is time for a serious discussion with her children as she may be at the stage of being dangerous to herself and others when she drives.  It is a hard place to be in.  I agree with you in not wanting to ride with her anymore unless you drive.

Marilyn, you are going to be able to take some very large pictures with a 14 megapixel camera.  I am sure you will enjoy it.

Don, thanks for devotional thought for this week.

RuthV, it sounds like you have been very busy.  We have missed your postings.

I really enjoyed the video, Pat. Thanks for bringing it to us. Hopefully, Colin will join us from time to time. His poetry is beautiful.

It's plenty hot outdoors, and I dont have too much to say other than it's time to put on my "uniform" and be the White Tornado that hits this apartment!  ::)

Much love to all who come here.

Nice video--fresh as a daisy!  ;)

I was up early, worked 7 1/2 hours, home and took a nice nap!  Work was challenging today, as they hired someone to rearrange all the neighborhood kitchens and put things in the same place in all of them.  Most of it made sense, except for putting the microwave under the ice machine, where you practically have to stand on your head to use it!  :-\  I was there a half-hour early and needed that time, as nothing had been restocked, tables weren't "set" (with place mats, napkins and silverware) etc.  But I made it through another day!

Tomorrow I work at the fair.  And if I am going to enter any art work, must get it ready to go!

Beth got a package from John.  (Imagine that!)  He is always so thoughtful and kind to her.  Gotta love that guy!

And, finally!  More news from Shirley!

Everyone...
Finally a phone call from Eli..Come to find out he was told that we would be recieving updates from Med-Vac just as he did..But none of us here have gotten a phone call..He told me when he recieves another phone call he will get that cleared up..Shirley is in the hospital in Johannesberg, South Africa..They got her hip put back into place and wrapped..She will be there for the next 2 days for sure..The Dr. said she needed to stay off of it and allow the swelling to go down before she continues the trip back to the states..Eli said she is holding up real well and is happy to just have the experience of being in S. Africa..The medical care she is recieving is great..I am still not sure if she will be arriving in Kansas City via a Med-Vac plane or on a continental flight..But plans are still in place to have her taken to KU Medical Center to be checked over and see what the next step is..Eli told me when she had the hip put back in the previous 2 times she was told to rest it for a week but she refused to ( imagine that..lol..) but it was because she new this trip was more than likely a once in a lifebtime trip and nothing was going to hold her back..But you know God may have other trips in store for Shirley..So, maybe resting it and allowing the muscles and tendons to heal is just what she needs and only what she needs..That's what I am prayerfully hoping..I will send another update to all of you as I get updates...I still have a real peace about this entire situation..I know God has Shirley in the best care and right where she needs to be at this time..Keep prayers going because they are working.Love to All...Leanne

Thank you Janet for the updates.

I am sure you are excited about the camera Marilyn

I have been corrected about the bird in our roof.  It is a Wood Falcon.  Kassie's boyfriend corrected us.  I am going to try to get John's camera lens changed  (F50) to the telephoto and  ger some decent pictures.  They were chasing the hawks away today.  I went out and could still hear the babies.

Kass is at work and I have to leave soon to pick her up.

Bye foe now

Hi, friends, I thought I'd peek in once more before heading to bed.

It's so good that they're taking better care of Shirley. And, I understand her strong desire to keep on going, although it certainly has cost her a LOT of pain.

Our Father has been with her, I'm certain, and she'll soon be better.

So good to hear from everyone.

Y'all have a great evening.

Thanks for another update for Shirley and Africa!  So interesting!

Rehab went fine.  I didn't say anything to Jo since her Mom and her are closerthanthis.  Whatever I would tell her, she would tell her Mom.  Don't want any friction.  And from what I see, Friday will be the last day we will ride together to rehab.

Then I got my DirecTv bill.  I was charged for Starz Monthly.  I didn't do that.  I got it free for 3 months but only watched a few movies...less than 5.  So I called them.  Weren't you told you have to call to say you don't want Starz?  NO!  I was not!  So I am getting a credit for that.  Then they asked if there was anything else they could help me so I said is there any way I can make my bill cheaper?  So I now have Select package instead of Choice.  Quite a bit cheaper!  And so far the only channel that I may miss is the Animal Planet channel.

I wonder if I have to call OnStar and XM radio to tell them I don't want either after the trial period?

Today I take Hawaii to get her boo boo fixed.  Enterprise Car Rental is to be there with a car for me.  Not sure if I have to take the man back to Noblesville or another person from Enterprise is coming to get him.  I should have Hawaii back Thursday.

And Euchre was cancelled today due to some family problems for the hostess.  She wants to reschedule later.

It is already 81 degrees!!  And heading to 93 degrees!  With a heat index of way over 100 degrees!!  Whew!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Going to be another hot day here in Georgia.  Not much on the schedule today other than an activity this morning.

Pat, thanks for sharing Colin's video link.  It sure is green over there and his garden is beautiful and must really be big.  I like the way he has the paths laid out.

Ruth Ann, hope you only had to be a "tropical wind" and not a "white tornado" yesterday.  :)

Janet, I bet John gets just as much enjoyment out of planning and sending the package of Beth gets from opening it when it arrives.  Sweet couple.  It sounds like you are working too hard again.  Tsk, Tsk.  Thanks for the update on Shirley.

Etta Sue, as I recall when I set up the XM Radio on our car I had to give a credit card and I did call them to cancel.  You may be able to do that online.  When I have a deadline, such as a three month trial, I try to set up a reminder on my calendar on my desk and also on my computer so I get an e-mail reminder a couple of days before action needs to be taken.

Larry Hanna

I have another "goodie" to share this morning that a friend sent me.

RECALL NOTICE:

The Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured,
regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central
component of the heart.

This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units.

This defect has been technically termed "Sub-sequential Internal Non-Morality," or more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is primarily expressed.

Some of the symptoms include:
1. Loss of direction
2. Foul vocal emissions
3. Amnesia of origin
4. Lack of peace and joy
5. Selfish or violent behavior
6. Depression or confusion in the mental component
7. Fearfulness
8. Idolatry
9. Rebellion

The Manufacturer, who is neither liable nor at fault for this defect, is
providing factory-authorized repair and service free of charge to correct this
defect.

The Repair Technician, (JESUS), has most generously offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost of these repairs. There is no additional fee required.

The number to call for repair in all areas is: P-R-A-Y-E-R.
Once connected, please upload your burden of SIN through
the REPENTANCE procedure. Next, download ATONEMENT from the Repair Technician, Jesus, into the heart component.

No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, Jesus will replace it with:
1. Love
2. Joy
3. Peace
4. Patience
5. Kindness
6. Goodness
7. Faithfulness
8. Gentleness
9. Self control

Please see the operating manual, the B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before
Leaving Earth) for further details on the use of these fixes.

WARNING: Continuing to operate the human being unit without correction voids any manufacturer warranties, exposing the unit to dangers and problems too numerous to list and will result in the human unit being permanently impounded. For free emergency service, call on Jesus.

DANGER:The human being units not responding to this recall action will have to be scrapped in the furnace. The SIN defect will not be permitted to enter Heaven so as to prevent contamination of that facility. Thank you for your attention!

GOD

P.S. Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important recall
notice, and you may contact the Father any time by 'Knee mail'!

Because He Lives!

JudyB

I love your stories Larry.  Just read this to Kass, and she says it makes us out to be robots!  We are because of the "sin component!" We can't think for ourselves because of the sin component!  Great lesson

Having tea with my morning reading.  You are welcome to your coffee, I love my tea.

Have a great day everyone.

The falcon babies are gone. The trees surrounding the house are full of crows/rooks. Yesterday I saw the parents trying to chase them off. Even the parents are gone. It is sad when things like this happens.

Jeanne Lee

Another good one, Larry.  Thanks!   :)

Judy, yes it's sad, but that's Nature, and all according to God's plan.

OK I take that back.  The parents are still there.  I haven't been out to hear if the babies are safe but the parents just flew from the nest.  The crows/rooks are gone...no cawing out there at all.  Peace.  I wonder if the parents were in the nest covering the babies to keep them quiet thereby protecting them.  I will go out in a bit and listen.  I wonder who would know about falcon behaviour?

NO there are no babies chirping.

Kass and BF have gone out for the day.  I will be alone till about 10 tonight.  Peaceful in the house as well.  Kass is a real chatterbug, and silence is nice once in a while.

How precious to know that His message IS being communicated. If not by adults, then how better than for Him to send such a simple message to us straight from the lips of a child.

It's such a blessing to come here and read and leave refreshed. Today God gave me strength to help a cousin in sorting through our dear late Mabel's apartment. It's amazing how far Mabel's godly influence is spreading. What a blessing to see this. I found 2 nickels in the floor and gave to Nancy, who quoted from Mabel's will "any currency found in the apartment is to be donated to Kentucky Mountain Bible College." And, they wanted her computer to go to a church - my tiny church has been seeking for a computer for about a year so that our pastor's sermons may be posted on the church website, thus allowing those who could not attend church to stay current by listening in online. :) And, the list of blessings goes on and on.

Also through Freecycle, which JudyB mentioned here a while back, I received enough material for our sewing and crafts groups (who are currently making comforters, jackets, and caps for the homeless) plenty of beautiful material and even thread and some patterns to make the task even easier. :) Think: "pressed down, shaken together, and running over" as the Bible tells us - it ended up being 2 shopping carts filled to the brim in the top and on the bottom shelf!!

And the day ended up with a dinner with a close friend who once was one of my managers. And, by delivering that computer and its peripherals to the church. I was even able to carry the heavy monitor quite a distance to the closet where I placed it.

Thank you, God, for all your many blessings!

Much love to you all,
Ruth Ann

Now for the rest of the story.  I went out to listen and watch.   There is only one falcon left here, looks like the babies and probably the female are killed.  Alex said the large crows are ravens.  The one falcon left sat in a tree opposite the nest calling and calling.  There was no answer.  She may be hurt or off in the bush somewhere, but she is not with him and he was calling.  He has now gone too.  The thing about falcons is they mate for life.  So sad.  Yes it is nature, but He sees a sparrow fall......
It was really wierd going out and seeing these huge birds in all the trees cawing and cawing.  They weren't moving just looking at the nest on the one side and the birds on the other side of the house, looking at the house, just cawing.  Really wierd.

With Kassie gone I got a lot of computer work done that I have procrastinated in doing.  There is more but I did get a lot done.  Alex's soccer team lost the soccer game, he didn't see too upset about it, I suspect the weather was an influencing factor.

Hey Pat John is in Guelph!  He is sleeping in the truck, and delivering tomorrow.  I can't see the video's as dial-up is too slow.

Ruth Ann you got a lot done, that leaves you feeling really rewarded doesn't it!

Janet and Etta Sue, you make me tired just reading about your days.  Have a good night tonight ladies!

I am off to bed, Kass has physio tomorrow so I will be up and at it early.
