JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Make Friends and Live Longer

Ointment and perfume delight the heart, and the sweetness of a man's friend gives delight by hearty counsel.  Proverbs 27:9

Proverbs 27:5-10

According to The New York Times, researchers are paying attention to the role of friendship to overall health. A ten-year Australian study found that older people with a large circle of friends were 22 percent less likely to die during the study period than those with fewer friends. A study of middle-aged Swedish men found those with quality friendships were much more likely to survive coronary heart disease. Another study of women battling breast cancer found that friendship circles have a dramatic influence on survival rates.

"Friendship has a bigger impact on our psychological well-being than family relationships," said one sociologist.1

Long ago, the writer of Proverbs said that a good friendship is to the heart what oils and medicines are to the body. Encouraging our friends--and being encouraged by them--is a conduit of blessing to our lives. We should cherish our relationships, pray for our friends, and fellowship warmly with those whom God brings across our paths. It's good for what ails us!

"A friend is someone who walks in when others walk out."

Nice message about friends.  My mother always said that friends are golden!  She lost a lot of friends as the Alzheimer Disease crept into her life so fast & furious.

Hot here even this morning so it is a beautiful Sunday but indoors we must cool the place.  A tuna salad is in the fridge for tonight and bread is ready to start in the bread maker (set in the laundry area to keep kitchen cool) and thawing chicken breasts to grill.  I have been craving salads of all sorts and fixing whatever is available.

One son & our daughter drove her son to Minnesota for hockey camp - 3 grueling weeks ahead for him.  But, he will stay cool on ice  :)  They all went fishing for a half day to recapture some of their early youth but that lake had weeks and it was hot and still --- they love to go back &  all are having a grand time on a tight budget.  Hockey has to be one of the most expensive sports ever - skates were $800 - not kidding.  Do hope he realizes the sacrifices his parents make.  I remember how spending $25 on those skates when the children were little.

Larry:  Do pace yourself.  This heat doesn't help at all and sorry to hear you feel so weary.  Your body is telling you to rest and nap.

Jeanne Lee

It seemed to me the message about friends describes exactly what we have here in Christian Photographers.  A wonderful group of sharing, caring and totally non-judgemental, true friends.  <3

Church was followed by Sunday School.  Then Ivalou, Evelyn and I went to eat at King Chef...Ivalou's choice since she got several gift certificates for King Chef for her birthday.

After catching up online, Inky and I took a nice nap.

I watched TV for awhile and then my remote wouldn't work.  I changed batteries...nothing.  I unplugged the satellite receiver and back on.  Nothing.  So I watched my recordings last night without fast-forwarding through the commercials.

Bright and sunny in Indiana.  Hot, Hazy, Humid!  Ivalou and I both have rehab this morning.  My last rehab session.  Then I think Ivalou wants to go to WalMart.

Hi everyone.  Feeling back to normal today.  Busy morning with the housekeeprs and lawn people here.  We also had the insurance adjuster and the roofing company men here.  The bottom line is that the insurance will replace the front part of the house due to the wind damage but I didn't have enough hail damage to qualify.  We will have the whole house reshingled as what we have are 15 years old and don't want two different shingles on our house.  We shouldn't have to deal with this again unless something major happens.  I am awaiting the roofer to finish his calculations and will be late for my Monday Men's luncheon but that is no problem.

Jeanne, thanks for the fine devotional message for this week.

Etta Sue, hope you find the problem with your TV or remote.

Janet

We did go to Hugoton last night, where we enjoyed a casserole supper at Father's House (church the kids attend) and then got to see Abby dance her praise dance to the Lord.  It was really beautiful, and tasteful, as well.  Several of the youth shared about the Champions for Christ Rally, Abby and Mark among them.  It is so wonderful to see them growing in the Lord!

I got a scant three hours or so sleep last night, up early and worked 8 hours, home and took a nap, but still feel very tired.  We will leave in the morning for Salina to see Kerri and pray for her, then on to Shirley's to listen to her tell about her adventures in Africa.  Not sure how long we will be gone; possibly 3 or 4 days.

Now I think I will sleepwalk my way to the bedroom to pack a bag. ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Janet;  Hoping you sleep better tonight.

Son & daughter are safely home after driving from south Minnesota and in a record less than ten hours.  They will never grow up.  Everything is a race.  They time everything.  Makes me crazy.

Don said he would take me to IKEA for breakfast so we got there early & coffee is free before ten.  Bkfst opens at 9:30 - that is late for us.  Swedish pancakes and lingonberries on the plate & they were terrific.  I bought frozen meatballs and a kitchen rug.

Marilyn

I thought I posted today. I guess not. I have started a blog, only one post there so far.
I will put up another one tonight.

Didn't sleep well last night  pain kept me from being comfortable and my back has been hurting all day long. I am so tired., gonna sleep good tonight though.

Carol, nope, barely any sleep again last night; in fact, even less than the night before.  And when I did drop off, I had awful dreams.  I can't figure out any reason for this.  Maybe concerns about daughter Kerri and the terrible, stressful time she is going through at this time.

Puppy is sick, threw up all day yesterday.  She seems a bit better this morning, drank water and ate a little bit, anyway.

August is here!!  And next comes SEPTEMBER!!!   And September is when production on my book begins!  Boy, it is hard to be patient while waiting, but am trying to learn whatever God is trying to teach me through this!

I have a chiropractic appoint at 7:45, after which we will head out for Salina and points beyond.

Pat, where are you and what's going on in your life?  We miss you in here!  <3

Good morning to the rest of you, and I hope you have wonderful days.  May God watch between you and me and keep you safe until we meet again.

Happy Birthday, Al!!!

Ivalou and I got a lot done yesterday after rehab.  She did some shopping and I returned my dryer vent since it wasn't needed after all.  I also got a new purse and billfold.  A woman always is happy when she gets a new purse!

I got up early (well, early for me...8am).  I have had my breakfast and have read my devotions.   I am having my second cup of coffee.

My plans are to mow this grass before it gets blazing hot!  Indiana is having another day of Heat Advisory and Air Quality Advisory.  It is to get to 97 degrees today...now I understand the heat advisory.  But we are not suppose to gas our cars up or mow our grass until after 6pm!!  It is blazing hot after 6pm.  It doesn't cool down until after midnight.  So have a heat stroke or mow when it is cooler??  As soon as I finish this cup of coffee, I am mowing.

I walked out in the yard it is still wet from dew.  I know it will still be damp in another half hour but would rather have grass under the deck of the mower than me passed out!

After mowing, it means a shower.  I signed up for Pool Maintenance yesterday...that doesn't me taking care of the pool!!  It means I can go work out in the pool Tuesday morning or afternoon and/or Friday mornings.  If I am not too tired, I may go to the pool this afternoon at 2:30pm!

Off I go!

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee and it is really warming up and suppose to get a lot hotter before the day is done and no rain in the offering.  Not much to write about today.  I do have a meeting to attend this morning and then will just stay in and stay as cool as possible the rest of the day.  Pat told me last evening we will go out to eat this evening as she has a book club meeting with her church group.  That will be it for the day.

Janet, sure wish you could sleep better.  I would think your batteries would run low with so few hours of rest and the hard work that you do.  Hope you have the opportunity to rest on your trip and that you have a good time.  I am sure your daughter will be glad to see you and also Shirley.

Carol, someday your kids will probably ask themselves why they were in such a hurry.  Glad they are safely home.  It has been many years since I went into an IKEA store but still remember the experience.  I didn't realize they had a restaurant.

Marilyn, I have never felt the need or desire to do a blog.  I spend enough time trying to post here and the Seniors and Friends website and also posting occasionally on one of the discussions that Ginny Anderson has for books.  However, hope you enjoy doing your blog.  Sorry to read of your back pain and lack of sleep.  Hope it is better today.

Janet, your worry is not helping your daughter and certainly isn't helping you.  I have found that if I "Let Go and Let God" take care of things my life becomes so much more serene.  I can't solve another persons problems although I certainly have tried many times with dismal success.  You know we are concerned about you and sure don't want to see you wreck your own health.  Hadn't seen the September date for your book.  Glad you have a definite timeframe.

Al, Happy Birthday.  Don't eat too much cake.   :ticked:

Etta Sue, I wish you could give my wife some lessons on buying a purse.  It seems she is seldom happy with what she buys.  I think they need to invent a purse with a built in light.  Hope you get your mowing done before it gets too hot.  They had on the news this morning that a young man collapsed at football practice from the heat and is near death.  This heat can be very serious.  The pool sounds good after working outside.

Hello All,
Another fun filled day of unpacking stuff and doing more laundry seems to be in store for me... Ruth is being ornery already this morning but I wouldn't want to have her any other way :). She brought me a piggy bank and looked at me and said MOMMA MOOOOO! I told her that's not a cow its a pig and pigs say oink so she said ok MOOOO! :S anyways I need to be off her and out to the garage have a good day :)

My first email to open was news that a classmate had died suddenly.  I did speak with him at the reunion - there were over 300 in our grad class so there is always some sad news.

Marilyn:  Your back problem sounds so painful - are you going to a doctor?  Sorry, I don't check out blogs as I can barely keep up with life in the slow lane.

Sara:  When you are busy, those little ones always time it to ask for attention - you have fun days with her learning to speak.  Take care.

Larry:  The heat always worries me and these sports are so difficult in hot and humid weather.  Praying for that boy.  Your message of "let go and let God" reminds me of my long friend in Minnesota telling me that and I have thought of what it really means so many times.  Today, our son-in-law is traveling for yet another interview - it has been 1 1/2 years of  having to take a crummy job and it is wearing to say the least.

Janet:  Take care -

Al:  Happy Birthday!   :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Thank y'all for the birthday wishes.  I long for the final and everlasting day.

Hi everyone.  I see it has been relatively quiet here in CP since I last visited.  That was the sort of day I had as well as just a routine day and staying in where it was cool.  I did speak with the roofing contractor yesterday and he wants to start the new roof on Friday.  I told him I had to hear from the insurance company first to know what we are dealing with.  Hopefully that will be today and I can give him the go ahead.  Pat and I are planning what we can do to stay away from the house as much as possible while they are on the roof.

Today are Bible study resumes and tonight our choir practice starts again for the fall season.  That will be plenty for today as it is suppose to get up to about 98 degrees here.  Yesterday evening when we went out to eat it was warm but the humidity had dropped and that really helped.

Carol, hope your son-in-laws job interview is productive.  My son is having the same experience.  Fortunately he has some type of job.  It doesn't look like things are going to get much better as the economic news is certainly not good.

Time for coffee.

Good Guess

A fourth-grade teacher was giving her pupils a lesson in logic.

"Here is the situation," she said.

"A man is standing up in a boat in the middle of a river, fishing. He loses his balance, falls in, and begins splashing and yelling for help.

His wife hears the commotion, knows he can't swim, and runs down to the bank. Why do you think she ran to the bank?"

A little girl raised her hand and asked, "To draw out all his savings?"

*Thanks to Pastor Tim for this joke!*

As for purses, I tend to buy larger purses for summer....smaller purses for winter.  I think that is because I don't have extra pockets in the summer!!  My thinking anyway.  Also, I look for linings that are light colored.  It's a lot easier to find what I am looking for with a light lining.  Or I do need a light!!  Tell Pat that is a good idea!

I did get the yard mowed.  Then I showered and ate lunch.  After talking to Ivalou for awhile on the phone, I decided to go to swim.  It isn't swimming.  I don't get my hair wet.  But it is remarkable to me that 45 minutes in the warm pool just doing leg and back exercises...nothing strenuous...kicks my butt more than a half-mile swim!  It did feel so good though and nice to only drive 8 miles to swim!

Then I went to GoodWill and bought a bunch of Harlequin Romance books.  I like to read at least a chapter before going to sleep so these books will last me a year perhaps!

Then I went to Wendy's.  It was so hot outside and a Frosty sounded so good.  The man in front of me got some Frosties and asked the guy at the cash register for spoons.  I didn't hear what was answered.  So I ordered a Frosty.  Then the man said, 'They don't have any spoons!'  So I asked the cash register guy if that was true.  'Well, yes!  Duh!  Duh!'  So I told him I wanted my money back OR a chocolate shake.  You sure can't use a straw with a Frosty.  So I got a chocolate shake at no more charge to me.  Why are they selling Frosties if they don't have spoons?  And who ever heard of running out of spoons?  Some one isn't ordering right!

Always me.  I run into the most ridiculous things!

I am staying home today.  FedEx is to bring my remote and I may have to sign for the package.

We had a thunder-boomer right at daybreak today.  Lightning, thunder, soaking rain!  All the limbs on the trees are hanging low due to the moisture on the leaves.  I haven't been outside but I imagine the humidity is sky high!  It is still overcast...looks like rain any second!

Thank goodness for good health care - I called this morning with an problem & they took me right away - am going to a referred doctor tomorrow and on meds right now.  Another appt. today on another issue.  Feeling good though.

We are having one cool day here and it is a blessing.

Etta Sue:  Even as a teen I was never interested in romance novels and still read history, murder, craftwork, and books from the church library.  A good friend reads books like you choose and she says it is a nice escape.  Your experience in ordering the Frosty is another thing that makes a business sounds bad - not a good response from the guy and why don't the people running the place have the brains to go out and buy spoons until they get a delivery?  Duh back to them.

Larry:  I talked with a construction worker this morning and he says they are barely holding on but have a short rehab job now - that was in the elevator to my dr. appt.  Told him I was praying for him and voting appropriately.

On a softer and sweeter note - this is a glorious day which the Lord has given us and I give Thanks!

Pat

I pop in here as often as I can, Janet.  Running 4 websites is so difficult sometimes.  :(

Right now, I'm trying to get ready for a fast trip to Oregon with a stop over on Aug. 19 in Montana for Paul's grandson's wedding on Aug. 19.  We'll be coming home via I-80.  Any chance of you going up there?  :)

We're so thrilled that out in Oregon, we'll be meeting up for lunch with Jane Walker and Marilyn and hopefully, Nita.

We'll be headed back east on Monday Aug. 29 (which was our parent's wedding anniversary day back--married in 1931)

Now that is either good news or bad news depending on the number of times you are born.
