JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Morning Devotional...

A wise son maketh a glad father.
Proverbs 10:1; 15:20

A "wise son" can be spotted five times in Proverbs.

The Lord Jesus was the quintessential wise son.

Twice in Proverbs we read that a wise son maketh glad his father, and twice the Father opened the heavens to audibly declare His pleasure in His Son.

A wise son hears his father's instructions (Prov. 13:1).

The Lord could only do His Father's will (Jn. 5:30).

A wise son keeps the Law (Prov. 28:7).

Jesus was sinless and challenged the religious to prove otherwise (Jn. 8:46).

Finally, a wise son brings a harvest in season. Jesus was the corn of wheat that died to bring forth a great harvest (Jn. 12:24).

The all-wise Son will always bring joy to the Father!
                                                                                    --W. Henderson

What sadness in the parting,
when the Son came down to die;
But what gladness in reunion
at the Son's return on high!

Well, I'm the first one here! Pat, thanks for that devotional! I hope all of you have had a restful holiday here, and a restful day elsewhere, too! I'm having trouble sleeping tonight; My husband, Gary, has a very bad cold, and I'm concerned about him. While I was praying, I felt compelled to come here, and, now, Ifeel comforted, and can go to sleep now. God bless all of you!
Love in Him,
Cami

Thank you for the devotional Pat.  It reminds me of the Scripture in Romans 8:

"He that spared not His own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things." Romans 8: 32.

How wonderful to know that everything that we need to live a godly life is given to us in Christ.  There should be no need for us to look elsewhere for help in this christian life.

God bless everyone and I do pray that your day will be filled with the joy of the Lord.

Anthony.

9.30a.m.

Good morning everyone from a dull damp Birmingham U.K. (Same for you in Wolverhampton I am sure Anthony?)....

I have never been to Wolverhampton but I do hear from a local Radio Station that it is a lovely place for shopping, clean streets and availability of toilets....("toilets" are not considered very important in this city).

Lovely to see you early this morning Mieka...Godbless dear One.

I managed to scan a little pic. of my doggie a few minutes ago.  I e mailed it to Pat...Hope it works...as I put the Scanner away in disgust last week.  I am trying to persevere Pat.

Praise God for the Minister at St. Timothy's Church as per your messages following the Devotional Pat. He has stood up to be counted and his congregation is with him....TRUTH WILL PREVAIL....JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!

Your Devotional on Fathers Pat.........I was talking to a group of young men  again yesterday. They live in and near a tower block.  They have fathers...not good fathers.  I pray daily for the hand of our Heavenly Father upon them......two lads have completely vandalised the house next door to the little Asian shop while the tenant was inside......They need a father's discipline and guidance. Most of you are praying for three of my young friends....see "Prayers"..  They were not the ones who vandalised the house.

The police were called by Mohammed the shopkeeper and didn't arrive for five hours...the two lads are still running around causing havoc. The laws in this country are all to protect the criminal.  Not the victim.

Well as Mieka said it's nice not to have prob lems on site., I am going to have a Happy Day today.  I wish all of you the same..

Love and blessings to each.
In the Wonderful name of Jesus.
Jenny.

Good morning all         10.45AM

Pat thank you for your devotional this morning

Mieka i thank you for your hugs i can need them

I have had a very bad night. I always am thinking on the words of my chiropracter. Y have a weak back you
must learn to live with that problem.
I may never do heavy work only light work.
I am always thinking now what will be my future.
I have prayed to God for Help.
But i am a little bit depressed now.
But i must back to my chiropracter. I ask why?
He said you must learn to live with your back weak back. We shall see.

I wish your all a very blessed day
Bye for now Ria

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends,

After a busy weekend, I rested for hours yesterday evening and last night.

And, got in to CP with only one need to refresh my screen.

Ria, I've had back problems most of my life, so I can certainly empathize with you. I wonder if you should see a medical doctor to affirm what the chiropractor has said.

Y'all have a good day today. I'm leaving to go to work early - my boss needs to call before he flies out to meet with the client.

Ruth Ann

Good morning everyone.  I'm glad to see a lot of postings for so early in the morning.  I haven't even had an opportunity to get online most of the weekend.  I peeped in a couple of times, but no time to post.

Ria,  I'm so sorry to hear about your back.  I'll be praying for you.  My dad had a bad back for years in my childhood.  It was painful just watching him in pain all the time.  I will pray for you, for strength.

Meika, how wonderful to see your cheerful smile on here again.  You have the gift of encouragement.   :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and no one is too stressed out with kids going back to school.  We start the curriculum with my younger brother and sister today, and it looks exciting!  God bless you all.  Jen.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  The holiday weekend is over and now back to our normal routines.  I had a nice time at coffee this morning with my retired friends.  We were having such a nice conversation that we even stayed an extra 10 minutes.  It was cool and comfortable in the cafe.

Today is my day at Calvin Cove and today we are going to sing hymns.  Then this evening Pat and I are going out with a couple for dinner and then to their house to play some Spades.  We always have a very nice time with this couple.

Yesterday was a nice day here on CP.  It was good to read all the postings.  See you all later.

Jenny

RIA................I wote you an email today re seeing your medical doctor.  This is confirmed by Ruth Ann. Your chiropractor is making a lot of money from you.
Years ago I had to wear a surgical belt for severe pack pain...I was measured at the hospital, after trying other things...I had excruciating pain and couldn't walk well for it.   It worked...I don't wear one now.......
Give your family doctor another chance. We are all praying for you...Prayer opens doors.

I'm off to have a cup of tea...just watered my very dry back lawn.

Hi again Larry.....I don't often catch up with you dear.
Hope you and Pat have a lovely meal and time of fellowship with your friends tonight.

By the way is Calvin Cove set in  a real cove?...I know Calvinists ar Methodists.  Are you Larry?.......Just interested...

See all later.
God Bless,
Jenny.

Marilyn

Good Morning. Thanks for the devotional Pat.

Today I am going to be out and about doing errands for myself. Then at class tonight we are having a Salad potluck and receiving our final certification.

SONJA WHERE ARE YOU?
We haven't seen you for awhile. We miss you.

Good Morning to you all!

It's great to have so many over on the other side of the pond, isn't it?  When we get up out of our beds here in North America and think it's still morning, you folks have already posted and it's so nice to be able to read your thoughts.  I always try to have my quiet time out on my swing before coming here and then it's almost your "tea time".  HAHAHA!

Cami, I'm so sorry about Gary being ill.  It's not a nice time of the year to be ill either, is it?  I saw your post late last night when I peeked in and I prayed for him then.  I do hope that today will be a better day for him...and for you too!

QuoteThere should be no need for us to look elsewhere for help in this christian life.

What a great point, Anthony!  There is no need for us to look elsewhere for help in this Christian life!  Praise the Lord!  We have all of the "help" we need, don't we?  If only new Christians would just cling to the Saviour and to the Cross!  (It was really something you mentioning Romans 8 as I also read Romans 8 this morning out on my swing.)

Mieka, loved your re-sizing!  You are a master of the various ways we can make our posts look better on CP!  Thanks!  I've looked at your marvelous photos of Alaska and am just in awe!  (I see you mentioned Anthony in one of your posts, so Anthony, make sure you see Mieka's photos!)

I got your photo, Jenny!  I haven't opened it yet but will do so a little later.  I have some errands to run and then I'll be back.  It's a beautiful day here, Jenny.  Sorry you are experiencing dull and dreary days.  Your talks with the young men sounds like a very good "mission" Jenny.  Keep us posted!

Hi Ria...  No depression now!!!  ;) Keep looking up to Jesus who is your Great Physician, my dear friend!  I'm so sorry that you have this terrible back pain.  But it's so good to know that the Lord only allows us as much pain as He knows we can bear.   I will be praying especially for you today, Ria, that you will get some comfort.  Maybe you could see your family physician to get a second opinion????  I have always had good treatments from the chiropractors I've seen in my life.  I've gone since a wee girl but I always felt it was good to see my medical doctor as well.  Actually, my family physician here in Guelph agrees with chiropractors a lot!  Have you tried homeopathy?

Good Morning, Marilyn!  Great to see you.  I also hope that Sonja will start posting again now that the summer is about over.  She did say that she found the summers very busy as they are a "togetherness" family and do much together on trips.  I would be so happy to see her posting again.

Hi Ruth Ann...  I see that you suggested to Ria what I've suggested.  I sure believe in MANY opinions from various sources in the medical field.  Jack did too and we practiced this often.  I'm so glad that you only had to refresh your screen once today, Ruth Ann.  I wish I knew why you were having this trouble.

Good morning Jen!  How's my girl?  Are you helping with Hannah's and Ben's schooling?  Any job offers yet?  We must get together for coffee soon.

I enjoy getting together with my friends as well, Larry so I know how you must enjoy this coffee time in the Cafe.  (Too bad you didn't have a Tim Horton's to go to!  HAHAHAHA)  Hope you have time to come in here later but have a great dinner this evening with your friends.

Well, I have Avon brochures to deliver and things to think about and many other things to do and STUFF to clean out of the basement.  Do any of you have STUFF?  Are you collectors of STUFF?

God bless you all and remember that we serve a wonderful Saviour indeed!

I have only a quick "hello" for everyone here (Mieka, that was cute the way you made your list of our names  :) )  I received a call early this morning that my Pastor Bev is in the hospital.  Something to do with the blood platelets.  Please, if you think of it today, pray for her.  Thank you.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Pat

These words are so precious and oh, so true.  What a wonderful Saviour we have.  Let's worship Him today.  He died for us!

Behold, behold the Lamb of God,
On the cross, on the cross!
He sheds for you his precious blood
On the cross, on the cross!
O hear his all important cry,
"Eli, lama sabachthani;"
Draw near and see your Savior die
On the cross, on the cross!

Behold his arms extended wide
On the cross, on the cross!
Behold his bleeding hands and side
On the cross, on the cross!
The sun withhold his rays of light,
The heavens are clothed in shades of night,
While Jesus doth with devils fight
On the cross, on the cross!

Come, sinners, see him lifted up
On the cross, on the cross!
For you he drinks the bitter cup
On the cross, on the cross!
The rocks do rend, the mountains quake,
While Jesus doth atonement make,
While Jesus suffers for our sake
On the cross, on the cross!

And now the mighty deed is done
On the cross, on the cross!
The battle's fought, the victory's won
On the cross, on the cross!
To heaven he turns his dying eyes;
'Tis finished! now the Conqueror cries;
Then bows his sacred head and dies
On the cross, on the cross!

Where'er I go I'll tell the story
Of the cross, of the cross!
Of nothing else my soul shall glory
Save the cross, save the cross!
Yea, this my constant theme shall be
Through time and in eternity,
That Jesus tasted death for me
On the cross, on the cross!

Let every mourner rise and cling,
To the cross, to the cross!
Let every Christian come and sing,
Round the cross, round the cross!
There let the preacher take his stand,
And, with the Bible in his hand,
Declare the triumphs through the land,
Of the cross, of the cross!

I have now got to get back into the swing of things by replying to everyone's posts.

Firstly I'm going to pull a funny face at Meika  >:( >:( >:(.  I sent you a private message and you didn't reply  ::) ;D ;D ::) It took me five hours and thirty five minutes to compose as well.  Seriously, it's good to see you again Meika and I love the new signature photo and I will take a look at the Alaska photos as soon as I have the chance.

Jenny, it's good to meet with someone who lives in the UK and even better that you come from the same area of the country.  I know about young lads creating mayhem.  On my estate an 11 year old has been sent to a detention centre for the trouble he is causing.  I agree with your valuation of our country's laws.  God bless you sister and I trust you will have a great day today.

Ria, I am so sorry to hear about the problems that you have with your back.  The pain must be very bad and I am sure that it is difficult for you to get a good night's sleep.  Have you added your name to the Have You Prayed About It folder?  Prayer changes things.

Ruth Ann have a good day today at work.  If you go in early, does that mean that you can come out early too ;)?

Mercychild, it's good to see you today.  Our children are starting back this week too.  There are a lot of miserable kids wondering around at the moment :o

Larry, it's good to see you too today brother and I trust that you will have a great day at Calvin Cove and a good time with your friends too.

Marilyn, have a nice salad  ;D

Pat, have a good time with the Avon brochures.  It sounds like hard work, but I am sure that the extra pennies come in useful.  I will definately go and take a look at Meika's photo's.

Jane, it's good to see your quick good morning.  I am sorry that your Pastor is in hospital.  Hospital can be dreary places.  I will endeavour to pray during today.

Well, if Pat's having her morning coffee, it must be time for my supper, so I will see you all later on.

Anthony.

Jenny

Hi Pat...
Just a note..
I've tried e mailing some of you this afternoon...Outlook Express is not sending out....again...My son told me they are in trouble...

I Told you the Lord had His hand on it didn't I Pat...
Please can someone try later to send me an e-mail...
Thanks..
Jenny.

Etta Sue

Mieka ~ Thanks for the hug and love!!!

Jane ~ I will continue praying for Pastor Bev.  Sorry to hear she is back in the hospital.

Whew!  What a soggy holiday weekend for Indiana!  The news last night said we had 7-8" of rain yesterday!!!  I ran the sump pump three times.  I have never seen so much water around here.  It finally quit raining in the afternoon.  Ivalou called me in the evening and asked me over for spaghetti and salad.  She fixed a salad to take to her son's home but they cancelled out their get-together because of the rain and roads being closed.  So I took my umbrella...just in case...and walked over.  I had to go by way of the drives and the road.  Too soggy walking in the grass.  No rain last night but Ivalou called this morning and she has no water.  We all have well water and her pump is under her house.  Water must have gotten into it.  So she wanted to borrow some water.  Thank God, we live close.  We stretched my water hose to her house and now she doesn't have to carry it so far.

Today will be some house cleaning and bill paying.  I do have the windows open.  Ali loves it.  She is laying in an open window.

Please say "Hello" to Ivalou for me.  I sure enjoyed meeting her on the trip to Calgary.  Sorry we didn't get to see you at Highway 41 SOUTH!

<font color=greenI'm just checking in for a few minutes to check the email.

Well this morning Cornelia had a list which included our taking clothes over to the laundry room where we washed some clothes and dried them.  We took our books and read while we waited.

Tomorrow our good friends Joan and Truett Scales are going to come up from Flowery Branch and we are going to go out for lunch.

I'm feeling much better this morning.

Larry, always good to see your posts and hear about your activities.  You do keep busy, don't you?

Papa John, it sound like a lovely vacation you and Cornelia are having, glad to know you are feeling better and enjoying your time there, and thanks for popping in to let us know how you are!

Etta Sue, how are things at your end of the swamp? ;D  Glad you have that sump pump!!

Ria, please don't get discouraged.  Keep doing those exercises, your back will get stronger.  Whenever I get a bad report, I always think of the verse that asks "whose report will you believe?" and answer "I will believe the report of the Lord!!  I took a bad fall the other night, really hurt, and I have lots of colorful bruises to remember it by, but I prayed before I picked myself up that nothing was broken, and the Lord would take the pain away.  Our God is faithful, and I am fine!  He is SOOO good, ALLLL the time!

Jenny, keep up that good work with the boys.  Your life may be the only Bible they will read!

Pat, hugs and love for all you do here on CP.  We all appreciate you so much.

Janice, I hope you and your hubby are both doing well.  Also hope to meet you some day before long!

Marilyn, how are you?  I had a quick little chat with Sonja this morning, she has just started homeschooling her kids, and is busy as always.  I miss her, too! :(

Mercychild good to hear from you, too!  Everyone seems to be so busy, don't they?

Ruth Ann, I hope you have a great day today, and that your recovery continues until you are in perfect health!

If I missed anyone, my apologies, lots to do again today, and love to you all!

Hello hello again.

Pat, I'm not working yet.  I dont' think I'll be helping mom with Ben and Hannah after all, she seems to have assigned Andrea that part.  So I get the exciting job of meals for now.  No job offers, but some of the ones I applied for look promising.  To be honest, I'm not really looking forward to working again, except the income, some cash flow.  But that's life I suppose.

I still have a bit of a stuffy head, so I'm not going to try and remember each person this afternoon.  I hope you're all having a great day.  God bless you.  Jen.

Pat

I see Joyce online.  Joyce, you asked the last time you were here where to share nice emails.  I've asked the other moderators and thought about it and I think that New Every Morning would be just fine.  Just make sure that you remove all of the <<<<< thingies and the person's email address.  This will make it easier for the folk to read.

Well I am through running around doing thing. Went to the Bank to make a deposit, bought groceries, put film in to be developed and bought a dryer at the Salvation army for $30. Now I have to find someone to pick it up by 10 am tomorrow or they will charge me storage. I called my Pastor and he is going to see if he can find someone. So I must not stay on the computer all day long. He is going to call me. I was told that they tested the dryer and it works. I sure do hope it does.

Its great to see so many posts already today after the quiet weekend we had here. I will come back in a little while.

Anthony It is so good to see you posting here again, How about some of you great photography too.?

Pat - You wanted to know the name of the oil I was given to try for my back.

I received a full bottle today and it's called 'Wood Lock Medicated Balm.' It does nothing for the pain, it does however help with easier mobility.

Ria - Dear Sis, acceptance is very difficult when we are told by the medical profession that we are not as fit or as healthy as we once were.

I fought against my back disease for many years and it is probably only in the past 12 months that I have finally come to accept my situation.

It is very frustrating indeed and can be very embarassing also, yet today I accept the way things are.

Today I believe they have been ordered and directed by God. If I believe that then it is pointless to fight against Him!

I can assure you that had I been in better health I would never have started Apples of Gold and I would never have joined in this wonderful group here.

He knows the way that I take. He knows best sis. Rest in Him.

Jerry - So good to see your pic on our screens once again.

Every blessing to you all.

Anthony, I'm glad, too, to see you back with us.  As you can see, while you were away we were growing by leaps and bounds!   ;D

We didn't go to the VA clinic today after all.  Gene's back was bothering him too much to even think of sitting in the car for two hours there and two hours back.  So he called and postponed his appointment for a week.   It's been cloudy and rainy for a couple of days and we think that has something to do with it, although basically it comes from having broken his back about 16 or 17 years ago.

We got our school tax bill yesterday so I went to pay it today and found out they're not accepting payments until September 4th.  :(  New York State has a program called "STAR" by which senior citizens and low income families get a break on their property taxes.  This time, without the break, ours would have been over $300 but because we qualify for both age and income, we only have to pay $1.38!!!  Now in my book, that's not hard to take.   ;D  Our town and county taxes come in January and we always save a lot on that, too.

Jeanne, that is great!  I wish Kansas had that kind of tax breaks!  Our taxes just keep getting higher!

Iain, nice to see you! :)

Just popping in to say my house is clean and I am clean.  Ivalou called to see if she could borrow my sump pump.  Kaye Don got home today from a few days away and he looked under her house.  She has a crawl space that is about 4 foot deep.  That is where her water pump is BUT she also had over 6 inches of water under her house.  So they came over and got my sump pump to pump out the water.  Just glad that we live close so that we can help each other out when there are problems.  And no, Pat, I didn't take pictures of the basement.  It is just a small basement...maybe 14' x 14'.  Just has some shelves, furnace, hot water heater, freezer, water softener and stairs in it.  And lots of stuff hanging from nails from the rafters.  It used to be dry but the last 20 years, it is wet/damp.  I hope it dries up soon so I can take the power washer down there and clean it up a bit.  Yucky now!

Anyway, it has been a productive day...I got a lot done...but my back knows I did more today than usual... :'(

$1.38 for taxes.  Mine will be $1,400+ for the year...property taxes.  That doesn't include the car either.   :-\ :'( :'(

In the Garden
(Click for Music)

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

Refrain

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

Refrain

I'd stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

Refrain
