Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Hi everyone.  Been a busy but very nice laid back day.  I just worked on projects like paying bills and doing some work that had backed up on my desk.  I have a few more things to do tomorrow.  I installed the cable modem I had purchased to replace the one that was rented when we had the cable internet service activated.  A friend came by for about an hour late this afternoon.  Now ready to enjoy a quiet evening.

Ruth Ann, your outfit sounds very festive.  Hope you enjoyed playing the piano today.

Etta Sue, I didn't hear from the insurance company today but should tomorrow.  Today;s applicances just don't last very long.  Twenty-two years is a long time for an appliance.

Carol, nice that the soldier sent a response to the box you sent.

Janet, you certainly have been blessed weather-wise.  An early welcome back to Kansas.

Judy, that sounds like quite a snow.

Hi, friends,

Wow, what a day! It began with a Christmas gathering, and ended with a close friend having a massive right-back-brain bleed that is really endangering his life. His sister and her daughter are two of my dearest friends.

Would you please pray with me that "Uncle Thomas" will be allowed brain clarity to accept our Lord. He's always respectful, comes to church with them, listens at Bible studies, but has refused to believe.  His family is grieving about this. Many decisions will have to be made, so please add your prayers for his family as they grapple with these issues.

So, after getting home at 1 a.m. today, I'll assure you I'm tired. I'll go back out to the hospital after meeting a 2 p.m. appointment.

Let's all continue to pray for Al and Marbeth. If you're interested, I'll put the address in this forum for you to be able to send a card. I understand it's almost impossible to reach him by phone, but we can still let them know of our love and care by sending cards.

Much love to everyone,

Ruth Ann

Ruth Ann I have prayed for your friend and the family.  Just stopping in to let you know I have been here to ready the posts.

I made my first loaf of homemade bread in the machine yesterday.  I was given the machine by the nice Christian Lady last Saturday. The bread tasted so good and turned out perfect, not holes on anything perfect. I am so pleased with myself.

I bathed both dogs yesterday, Happy has an appointment with the Vet on Monday for his monthly checkup. As long as he is on the anti-fungal meds he has to have monthly checkups, there is no charge for follow up visits, so the price is right. The only thing I have to pay for are any tests he has to have and his medication. I get the medication online as it costs much less than at the Vet.

Janet much be one her way home by now. Happy flying Janet!

I am pumped.  The lady volunteer from our local hospital called me this morning and was a little more exact about explaining the need for Chemo Wraps.  I am anxious to get started in making one after I finish a baby afghan.  I have a favorite afghan pattern that should be 26" x 52" when finished as a Chemo Wrap.  I can use scraps with it also!

I just got through Skyping with my classmate in Mexico.  We keep in touch but only Skyping about once a month.  He looks good for all his health problems!  Nice to talk and see him!

Another sunny day in Indiana.  But it is cool...down in the 30's!  I plan to print my calenders once I get some food down me.  My appetite is returning!  I am glad and sad about that.  I was losing some weight but I don't want to do it that way.  Just hope I don't gain back what I lost!

Everyone...be safe on the roads as you travel through life!!

Hi everyone.  It is evening again and I have been playing with setting up a new browser to try out called Maxthon 3.  I have decided to give it a try.  I do like the Chrome browser and may go back to it but it is fun to try something new and it might be better.  After coffee this morning I went to the post office and then stopped at the Comcast cable store to return the rented modem.  The line was just as long as yesterday afternoon but they had 4 windows open rather than two so it moved rather quickly.  Then I went next door to Krogers and picked up a couple of prescriptions.  My friend came by and we joined seven other men from the church for our ROMEO's luncheon.  We ate at Appleby's today and had a nice meal and a nice time of fellowship.  I came home and rested awhile and am now enjoying my easy chair.

Ruth Ann, so sorry to hear of the serious problem your friend has experienced. We just never know when something like that may happen.

Marilyn, glad you were happy with the bread machine product.  I can just smell fresh bread baking by the mere mention of it.  Always a joy when a new member joins our families.

Etta Sue,  glad that your appetite is getting better.

Cleaning and organizing.  We have company tomorrow night - a birthday party on Sunday, brunch on Wed - Don't birthday - brunch on Saturday & grandchildren's events.  My physical today went just great as I was expecting high blood pressure - guess that working until it aches helps in some ways.

JudyB:  I have a Bernina.  It has such a steady 1/4 inch stitch for quilting.  Have an antique Singer as well. the latest things are table runners and I am cutting for a quilt.

Ruth Ann:  Best wishes and prayers for your friend.

Hello Gord!  Best to you and Noreen!!!

Marilyn:  Beautiful child!  Enjoy!

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee and wanted to get back on the morning posting cycle here.  Not much to write about this morning other than God has given us a beautiful day (which I know is a lot to write about).  I have a meeting to attend in a little bit and then will be watching the SEC and ACC college football championship games late this afternoon and evening.  Georgia University is in the SEC game tonight but are not favored to win the game.

A good friend sent the following to me this morning and I want to share it with you all.  I think I may have seen it before but it is worth another read:

Senior version of Jesus Loves Me
92 YEAR OLD PREACHER

While watching a  little TV on Sunday instead of going  to church, I watched a church in Atlanta honoring one of its senior  pastors who had been retired many years. He was 92 at that time and I  wondered why the church even bothered to ask the old gentleman to  preach at that age.  After a warm welcome, introduction of this  speaker, and as the applause quieted down, he rose from his high back  chair and walked slowly, with great effort and a sliding gait to the  podium. Without a note or written paper of any kind he placed both  hands on the pulpit to steady himself and then quietly and slowly he  began to speak....

"When I was asked to come here today and  talk to you, your pastor asked me to tell you what was the greatest  lesson ever learned in my 50-odd years of preaching. I thought about  it for a few days and boiled it down to just one thing that made the  most difference in my life and sustained me through all my trials..  The one thing that I could always rely on when tears and heartbreak  and pain and fear and sorrow paralyzed me...
the only thing that  would comfort was this verse......... .....

"Jesus loves me this I know.
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong,
we are weak but He is strong.....
Yes, Jesus loves me....
The Bible tells me so."

The old pastor stated, "I  always noticed that it was the adults who chose the children's hymn  'Jesus Loves Me' (for the children of course) during a hymn sing, and it was the adults who sang the loudest because I could see they knew it the best."

"Here for you now is a Senior version of Jesus Loves Me":

JESUS LOVES ME

Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.
(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES  ME.. YES, JESUS LOVES ME..
YES, JESUS LOVES ME, FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.

Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.
(CHORUS)

When the nights are dark and  long,
In my heart He puts a song..
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near."
(CHORUS)

When my  work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He  will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love.
(CHORUS)

I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.
(CHORUS)

If you think this is neat, please pass it on to your friends. If you do not pass it on, nothing bad will happen,  but you will have missed an opportunity to "reach out and touch" a  friend or a loved one.
God Bless Us All!!!

JudyB

Thank you Larry for that reminder...Yes it is a favourite of mine as well!

I ordered some oranges from the Lapel Lions Club and they were to be picked up and paid for today.  So I got up at 8am, got and paid for the oranges and then went to Woody's for breakfast.  So much better than me fixing that breakfast for myself!

Then off to the bank since my $$ was running low.

I stopped at Ivalou's on the way home and gave her half of the oranges for a little Christmas present.  She has a hard time writing with her having little feeling in her right hand so I brought home envelopes and her Christmas Card list.  This afternoon, I hope to get them printed on a printer!

That's about it other than I sure do enjoy my Christmas music on the CD player!  I don't decorate much but the music really gives me joy!  Right now I am listening to Bing Crosby singing
'White Christmas'.  Now that's an old one!  They don't have music like that anymore!!

Well, my friends are meeting with the doctor today and having to make very difficult decisions. Yesterday was really stressful, since one of the relatives reacts badly to stress with anger and verbal attacks. It seems that the Lord sent a deeply devout girlfriend and me to provide calmnessand sstabilization last evening. At the end of a meeting involving doctor, charge nurse, family, etc., acceptance and peace prevailed.

This weekend will be personally difficult, not only for this, but also 4 other things that are very stressfil. Please add me to your thought and prayers for strength and wisdom to make it through.

Our God never fails, and today is no exception.

A snatch of a song I seem to remember ends with "He will not fail me now." How TRUE!

Lovwe rto all,
Ruth Ann

Ruth Ann, when I have a sleepless night the Lord always reminds me, that's a lovely, quiet time for prayer.  Last night, or rather this morning around 3:00 a.m. I was wide awake and your name suddenly  popped into my head.  I knew right away He was telling me you needed prayer support.  And those prayers will indeed continue through the weekend.

Janet

A big hello from my corner of Kansas!  We arrived back home around midnight last night, after being up for about 35 hours, so a little weary.  And I am going to bed soon.  I have been really busy all day doing laundry, putting things away, visiting Beth, picking up the mail from the Post Office, getting my hair done, sorting, opening and reading mail, then we went to Hugoton to pick up the dog.  She fully recovered from the Parvo and grew and gained weight while we were away.

AND.....my kitchen looks exactly as we left it.   :(  Lon has had problems:  bad lumber that split and chunks fell out when he was routing; several pieces of his equipment broke, front wheel almost fell off his pickup, etc.,etc., etc......    I am thinking I will have a good excuse not to decorate for Christmas this year.

Ruth Ann, I am praying for you!

And for all the rest of you, too, prayers go upward!  Marilyn, thanks for the wishes for safe flying.  That London to Denver one was tough--9 1/2 hours.  Then clearing customs, and another wait, then on to Garden City in a small plane and drove home from there.  Very long day!

When we got to Hugoton, though, we got to see the whole family!  That was a treat, doesn't happen often enough lately.  And little Lexi came running to me with her arms up for a big hug!  Love those grandkid hugs!!

I am just chattering, better get.

Janet, I am so happy you are back home but I know that you are happier!  Vacations are wonderful but there is no place like home.  Sorry your kitchen didn't get the facelift you were wanting.  Are you sure your carpenter wasn't in your suitcase?

Ruth Ann, I am praying your stress becomes calmness.

Jeanne, for once Saturday night for me was a great night of sleep.  I feel great this morning!  Ready to conquer the world.

I got Ivalou's Christmas card envelopes all printed and she signed all the cards.  Now they are stuffed and ready to put in the mailbox at church.

I am ready for church.  Looks like rain or it has rained.  But warmer.  It is in the 50's.  I can take that.  Looks like wind.  The neighbor has the American Flag on a pole outside and I see it is blowing north.

I am praying that everyone has a wonderful God's Day.

Hi everyone.  I am ready for church and just finished my breakfast.  This will be the last Sunday morning that I will regularly sing in our church choir.  The energy required has just become too much and I have been struggling with this each Sunday morning for about the last year.  I will attend practice Wednesday evening and then sing with the choir next Sunday evening for our Christmas Cantata and that will be it.  I am saddened to have arrived at this situation after singing in a choir over the last 50 years or more but realize that changes are required as time marches on.  Pat and I will eat out somewhere after church today and then I will rest, watch some football, do my puzzles and read.

The Georgia Bulldogs played a great game with Louisiana State University (LSU) for the first half and held them to no first downs.  However, LSU brought out a different team, it seemed, and dominated the second half in a big way and won the game and the conference championship.

First of all, welcome home Janet.  I am sure you were disappointed in the lack of progress in your kitchen but it will eventually get done and the carpenter would have had those same problems if you had been home.  Just think of the stress you avoided during those days by being away and having a great time.  What a long trip and I can't imagine traveling for 35 hours.  It was wonderful that you were able to see your family when you got back.

Jeanne, I like your attitude for your restless nights.

Ruth Ann, If we are to live a full life we must experience the stressful times as well as the good times.  That is a terrible decision for a family to have to make and certainly a good example of where we each should have life directives available to the family to help them when, and if, they must make such decisions.  I am sure your calmness was a helpful factor as you spent time with the family.

Etta Sue, glad the cards are done and ready to go.

Last night didn't give me much time for my prayer list.  I had a short wakeful period around 2:00 a.m. and after I returned to bed and snuggled down under the covers I said "Lord, it sure would be nice to get to sleep now and wake up at 6:45."  The very next thing I knew I looked at the clock and it said - Yep!  6:45!!!  That was just time to get up, grab my warm robe and a hot cup of coffee and get David Jeremiah's Turning Point on TV.   Is our Lord wonderful, or what!
