JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Ken if Pastor Al had made it home he would be posting if he was able, so we must assume he is still in rehab.

WooHoo I am so thrilled I got the doctor I requested, (It was a closed practiced and I had to apply to be accepted) She started out as a nurse, taught nursing, was also a nurse Practitioner before she decided to go to medical school and get her DO so she could treat adult patients in a Holistic manner. you can read her bio  HERE Scroll down to Dr. Wendy Haack (That is pronounced Hawk) I am so happy.[/url] Scroll down to Dr. Wendy Haack (That is pronounced Hawk) I am so happy.

Hi, friends, it was a busy, eventful afternoon, and left me drained.

So, it was time to rest a bit before posting.

Ken, I'll be thinking of you with the challenge of celebrating your grandmother's life appropriately. When my dad died, his funeral was held in the church sanctuary. Well, family members got there first, so I just sat down and began to play hymns. And, the minister who was to speak asked me to play for the funeral itself. Then, my brother and I sang a duet of his favorite hymn. We closed the service with all 29 family members (some from as far as England) singing "I'll Meet You in the Morning." The minister's sermon was excellent and since my dad pastored several small churches in the outskirts of town, many individuals rose to speak of how his life and love had ministered to them.

What a moving, wonderful way to end his life. Oh, by the way, several of us were around his bed that last night and we began to sing. He had lain in a coma all day, but as he prepared to cross into his new life, his eyes opened, and he raised his hand - with a sweet smile, his last word was "Halleleujah."

Ruth Ann, what precious, precious memories!

Ken, so good to read your post, prayers are with you as you prepare for your Grandma's farewell.

Marilyn, glad you got the doctor you wanted.

I am ready to leave for my painting group.  We had another member go home to heaven since our last meeting, so it will be bittersweet, I'm sure.

Darrel and I went to the movie War Horse last night---excellent movie!  We seldom go to the theater, so it's a nice treat when we do, and we need to suppost our local one, sure wouldn't want to see it close.

Later!  :)  Be blessed!

Hi everyone.  Today is the day that winter comes back to Georgia.  We are having gusty winds and by noon the cold front is to move in and tonight we will be down in the teens.  I expect that will take care of the plants and trees that are flowering for this year.  We are suppose to get some wind gusts up to 35 miles and hour throughout the day.  We plan on going to Atlanta today to have lunch with Stacey.  I also think Pat plans on a trip to Walmart this morning so that will be a full day for us.

Janet, so nice to see you got a good nights sleep as that does wonders for a person.  Glad the spots on your face were nothing of concern.  Concussions are nothing to fool around with and I certainly hope Kerri will see a doctor.

Judy, you might well find a card reader for much less on eBay or Amazon unless the shipping would be a problem.  You know that as soon as you get one your will find your camera adapter.  :)

Ken, when my father died in the nursing home we had a service conducted by the nursing home chaplain at the nursing home so my mother could be there as well as the folks at the nursing home who knew him.  He was then taken to Missouri, where he had lived for 80 years, and we had another service for family and friends.  When mother passed we didn't do the nursing home service but took her back to Missouri for a service and burial.  I am pretty sure that Al is still in rehab and not at home.  I think he indicated they were looking at later this month.

Marilyn, glad you were able to get the doctor you wanted.

Sure hope Marlo is doing better today.

Almost "normal" February weather today.  I woke up to a light dusting of snow, not even enough to completely cover the grass.  Now it's dull and gray and the temperature is dropping steadily, although there's hardly any wind.  We've had just over 13 inches of snow so far since the October storm - last year at this time we'd had almost 51 inches and the average is about 30.

Every time I give a prayer of thanks for such a mild winter, I remember the people who depend on cold and snow for their livelihoods and who are losing so much money this year.   :(

Good Morning I was up early this morning to take the dogs out so I stayed up, got dressed, ground some fresh coffee beans, made a full pot of coffee. I don't make a full pot during the week only about 7-8  cups. But with the 10 oz mugs that measurement doesn't mean much. The dogs and cats have been fed, Happy has had his medication, I've been outside to clean up after the dogs. Then I baked a Lemon cake that is now cooling. The sun is shining and I hope  it stay that way all day.  Not much else is new here.

Good afternoon.

They say that a cold spell is in Florida.  People are walking the dogs with jackets and sweaters on...the people...not the dogs!

I stepped outside for a few minutes and it is warm to me!

Yesterday we went to the Rod and Reel.  It is a restaurant at the end of a pier...not a big restaurant but the Crab Cake Sandwich was good and the Fries were very good.  Can't get used to seeing people in shorts!

Barb and Kaye Don are at the ER.  Barb is on blood thinner and she hit her arm Thursday at the doctor's office when Kaye Don got results from his stress test.  I have never seen an arm look like Barb's.  It is red almost from her wrist to her elbow and about 4 inches wide.  Then there is a spot where there is a hard- like knot!  That's what I would be concerned about.  So she is getting it looked over!

Then if all goes well, we are going to the Early Bird Supper at Anna Marie's Oyster Bar this afternoon at 4pm.  Then Ivalou and I decided to go to the bath house for our shower for tomorrow and church.  The showers are larger than here in the park model.

Prayers are for concerns and praises are for blessings from God.

FARTHER ALONG
(Click to hear music)

W. B. Stevens

Tempted and tried we're oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long.
While there are others living about us,
Never molested though in the wrong.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

When death has come and taken our loved ones,
It leaves our home so lonely and drear;
Then do we wonder why others prosper,
Living so wicked year after year.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

Faithful till death said our loving Master.
A few more days to labor and wait;
Toils of the road will then seem as nothing
As we sweep through the beautiful gate.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

When we see Jesus coming in glory,
When He comes from His home in the sky;
Then we shall meet Him in that bright mansion
We'll understand it all by and by.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

MMMMMMgood - Lemon cake and crabcake sandwich  thanks to Marilyn and Etta Sue.

Just spent from cousin & wife - they always bring their yippy dog and with the tile in this place, the sound is so sharp and tinny that it hurts Don's ears.  He is totally exhausted which makes me feel so bad. My cousin is a dear person & a wonderful servant of  The Lord so we always have a super visit.  After they left, I had to talk to some young people and ask them to please turn down their (stupid) music and they obliged immediately.  Thanks be - Don cannot stand noise so this has been a very hard time for him and now to get him peaceful and settled.  He only wants toast for dinner and I feel the same.

Ken:  I am sure you will be guided on what to speak on at the service.  Blessings being sent your way!

Jeanne:   I know what you mean about being grateful for decent weather - the mountains in CO are really hurting for snow this year and it is a huge indicator of businesses going broke without the winter sports.  Last year the snowfall was way over the top - it just depends.

Well, time for fix toast for dinner.   I made a big lunch for everyone and they are on their way so we are not hungry at all.

Marilyn

Hello Again, Ken I forgot to tell you I am also praying for you and your family.

I do wish Al would check in, he hasn't been here in awhile to let us know how he is doing. Marbeth is hard to get hold of since she spend a lot of the time there with Al. Maybe I should try to call her.

No much going on here today.

ER had lobster, steak and veggies for dinner.  Doug gave us the lobster some time ago and because I didn't know how to cook it.......it sat in the freezer.  Tonight we steamed it and I heated up some butter, added a bit of lemon and it was good.  A real nice change from the ordinary.

I finally figured out why my printer didn't work. I uninstalled it, restarted the computer, then re-installed it.  Woopie it worked!  Now to do the same thing on John's computer.

This has been a long day.  Had company this morning, and working on the computer ever since.  At least it now works!

I'm off.  I will be back tomorrow.  God bless.

Betty

I've had a busy week, but am still checking in and praying for people on this site. We had a snowy time for one of my drives, but it was only an hour and a half drive - glad it wasn't longer. My work is going fairly well. My Dad is going for surgery this coming Friday. He has 2 hernia surgeries, and then dialysis surgery, so will continue to appreciate your prayers.

Ken: I'm praying for you, that the Lord will give you the message you need to deliver. I know that He can give you the strength, peace, and wisdom you will need.

Larra / Marlo: Praying - for peace, comfort, healing and strength.

To those having "fun" with printers: This is one of the areas in our computer department that can be the most frustrating. I hope you are able to figure things out. Judy, I'm glad yours is working for you now.

May God bless everyone for the uplifting and encouraging comments on this site. Enjoy your worship time tomorrow.

Hi, friends,

Well, it's a really cold day here in Tennessee. Brrrrr!

My deadline will be met shortly, so I'll be "back to abnormal" once again. ;) However, as I said a few days ago, the Lord has given me peace throughout this week, so it's been so much easier than these types of things have been on me in the past. Truly, we do need to "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean NOT to your own understanding." Since it's all in His hands, I don't need to lean on my own "mis"understanding.

Thank you, God, that even as an elder, You still allow me to learn from You. Amen.

I ran across this poem, and since we've had mentions of not being able to sleep, I thought it would be good to share:

When Sleep Won't Come

Thank You, Lord for sleepless
   hours,
When You can talk to me --
   and I to You;
when all is still -- no need to rush,
no work I need to do.
When, as the names and faces
of loved ones come to mind,
I have the time to pray for them,
which rarely I can find,
when daytime duties press me
and daytime sounds I hear.
I listen to their voices
and not to Yours, I fear.
But in the still night watches,
no sound or sight or soul,
can take away the blessings
of a mind in Your control.

There was no information in this little clipping as to the poet's name, but most certainly it makes a statement to me, and I hope to y'all as well.

Love to each of you,
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  We have a bit of winter this morning in terms of cold weather but is currently 36 degrees.  I am hoping it didn't actually reach the freezing point last night.  However, the sun is shining and it is going to be a nice day.  After church this morning we have the annual Senior's Valentine Banquet where we are given a very nice meal with tables decorated for the occasion and then a nice program.  Today our choir director and assistant choir director are doing the program and it should be very good.  The choir director will be singing and the assistant director playing the piano for her.  We had a nice trip to Atlanta yesterday and met our daughter at the Shepard's Spinal Center cafeteria for a nice lunch and time to visit.

Etta Sue, sounds like you are having a good time and eating a lot of seafood.  Sure hope Barb is all right.

Carol, noise can be very annoying.  I asked that the music be turned down where the ROMEO's ate on Friday but don't think they did.  They were playing a pounding type music and it was hard to talk to even the person next to you much less a couple of people down without really raising your voice.  Hope you can have a few days of quiet to recover.

Judy, you sound like me in terms of fixing lobster.  I have eaten it out a few times but we have never had it at home.

Betty, sure your dad will feel better after his surgery and a couple of days of recovery.  I know it sure made a difference for me.

Jeanne Lee

Ruth Ann, your little poem says exactly what I've decided is the reason for my sleepless nights.  Sometimes this old brain of mine won't shut down and I start trying to solve all the problems of the world.  That's when the Lord nudges me and I am able to override those useless thoughts and concentrate on the needs of people I've committed to pray for - and others who don't know I'm praying for them or who don't think they need prayer.

Getting the brain to shut down is one of the most difficult things for me.  I can be falling asleep on the couch , go to bed and wake wide up.  So annoying.

We at last have cloud cover and the temp has gone up somewhat.  Only -15*C this morning, Tomorrow is to be +1 or about 33*F.  That is a good deal for our wood!

HAve John's meals to prepare, so I'm off doe now.
