JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Hi everyone.  I am expecting an enjoyable day at home today after coffee at McDonald's this morning.  Yesterday the forecast was for temps in the mid-70s and the chance for severe weather so it may be an interesting day.  When I got up from resting yesterday afternoon my wife said we had been invited to join another couple for dinner at a local pizza place.  We told them we would like to join them and since we had a large buffet lunch would just enjoy a soft drink and visit while they ate.  We did this and had a very nice time.  We came home and watched the debate on CNN and rather hope that is the last one among the Replications.  Our primary is March 6th and it is getting time for us to submit our Absentee Ballots, which we have had for several weeks.  We didn't want to vote too early as the field was still narrowing.  I will be working on the Golden Senior Games applications and related work today as I am suppose to get my first batch of applications to process around noontime.

Betty, what is Still's disease?  I have never heard of such a disease before.  Glad you dad is doing well in recovery from his surgery.

Janet, I am sure your painting must be beautiful as you do such nice work.

Ruth Ann, hope you were able to get to the Ash Wednesday service last night.  Our church had one but we did not attend.

Carol, since Stacey will be staying in the hospital overnight (she was told this yesterday by her doctor probably because she experiences a lot of problem with the anesthetic) we won't have to stay downtown the full day once we know she is OK from the procedure.  The following day we won't have to be there so early so it should all work out.  It is only about an hours drive when it is not rush hour so that is doable and we can sleep in our own bed.  However, the idea of staying in a hotel overnight had occurred to me or we could stay at her apartment but would just rather be home.

Carol, thanks for not letting that bus by-pass me!  I have never attended an Ash Wednesday service, as have never been part of a church that has those.  It sounds interesting, and I'm always ready to learn!

Larry, I was concerned about all that driving for you, too.  So I am glad to know it is only an hour's drive, but that is still a lot if you are tired, or during rush hour traffic.  Best wishes to Stacey, you and Pat, and hope her procedure gains optimum results!

It is time to dress and head for class.  I wanted to have a bit of down time this morning, as was so tired last night I was hurting all over.  It's been a really hectic week, and still more days to go!  But I feel a lot better this morning, and God gives me each day the strength to do what needs to be done, at least in my little world!

I wish you all a wonderful day!

Holy, Holy, Holy
(Click to hear music)

Words by Reginald Heber (1783-1826)
Music by John B. Dykes (1823-1876)

Holy, Holy, Holy!  Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning  Our song will rise to thee.
Holy, Holy, Holy!  Merciful and mighty.
God in three Persons,  Blessed Trinity.

Holy, Holy, Holy!  All the saints adore thee.
Casting down their golden crowns  Around the glassy sea.
Cherubim and seraphim   Falling down before thee.
Which wert and art,  And evermore shalt be.

Holy, Holy, Holy!  Though the darkness hide thee.
Through the eye of sinful man  Thy glory may not see.
Only thou art Holy.  There is none beside thee.
Perfect in power,  In love, and purity.

Holy, Holy, Holy!  Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name  In earth and sky and sea.
Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons.  Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!  Blessed Trinity.

Larry I will be praying as you drive and care for your daughter.

Ruth Ann have you found that you are busier than when you were working?  Seems like it looking on from the outside!  Have a good day Sis.

Carol You seem to be busy as you entertain guests.  Does that leave time for rest for you and Don?  Take care.

The hymn i posted was on the radio last night.  It reminded me of a time in life when I visited a friend in another town.  We would sing that hymn every Sunday before the service began.  It put us in the right attitude for worshiping God.  He is indeed Holy.

Must go as I have a lot to do today.

Jeanne Lee

Judy, thanks for the hymn this morning.

Betty, my cyber navigating can probably get us into even more strange places than your GPS.  Some of the folks here will assure you of that.

Janet, I would love to see some of your paintings.  I admire your talent so much!

Larry, prayers for protection as you drive back and forth to the hospital, and prayers for your daughter as she undergoes the procedure and recovery.

Carol

Good Morning or whatever time it is for everyone.  I have a list for groceries and must-do's today.

JudyB:  I really don't "entertain" guests as much as suggest what we might do- or, if they want to go out alone it is just fine with us.  We usually spend many hours just catching up.  Rarely talk politics and do talk religion.

Janet: One cousin goes to a church that is stand-alone and she had never even heard of Lent.  Not all the churches mention that time but surely they must know about Good Friday and the next day leading into our most lovely Easter rising day.  We used to go to sunrise service but not since we have been in the huge church at home. Will be home for Easter.  That sounds so good.

Larry:  That makes sense, I just had a fear for you going through Atlanta's rush hours.  Our daughter has already booked us for next year's graduation for our first grandson in  Faribault, Minnesota at Shattuck.  She thinks we would like to stay three nights - not us!  If she rented a cabin that would be great & good fishing time too.  It is a small enough town that we need to have the reservations or drive quite a ways.

We watched the debate last night and so disappointed in some of the questions that are meant to divide instead of bring together.

Etta Sue

It may be an hour drive for Larry to go to Stacy but what Larry didn't tell you is it is only 7 blocks away!!   :roflBig:  Really, I think rush hour is 24/7 in Atlanta!

And I think I am in the middle of a covey of CPers!  Surely, that big bus can stop here and get me and go west.  And I am with Janet...we need a bash, gathering or meeting!  Any takers on an organizer?

I have already been to Noblesville to deliver three Chemo Wraps to Jerri, the organizer of the volunteer group at the hospital.  I praise God in that Jerri is cancer free now!!  Praise God!  She went through chemo but still had a tumor in one of her breasts.  Rather than to go through more chemo, she opted to have a double mastectomy.  She found a boutique that specializes in chemises with built in breasts.  She looks so good now and you can tell a big burden has been lifted from her and her family.

She also gave me two huge humongous bags of yarn to make more chemo wraps.  One bag is one pounder skeins so I will give them to the group...the other was different colors so they are on my floor ready to be put into chemo wraps.  I probably have 15 wraps I can make before purchasing any yarn!

Etta Sue you are really keeping busy with those Chemo wraps.

I am still trying to knit on the shrug, I have about  20 inches  so far and now I realize I should have done a few rows at the beginning of  a border of k2p2. Maybe I should make the border separate and sew it on after I finish the shrug, I don't know how to pick up stitches for the bottom after it is already done. Maybe Judy or Pat cant ell me which of those would be best to do.

I just got an email from Elaine, Janice's daughter.  Earl passed away this morning.

You may view his obituary
here.

I am sure that Janice and the family would appreciate prayers from all of us.

Ruth Ann Bice

Oh, how sad! I'll be praying, along with everyone here, that she is upheld during this stressful time of grief.

Well, Judy, I'm enjoying what I do lots more. :) It's good to be able to awaken at my leisure most mornings, then "fiddle around" until I want to pick up more productive things to do. ;)

May our Lord bless each of us toda, and be especially close to Janice and her family.

Larry: Still's Disease is a form of arthritis. Our SIL had juvenile arthritis when he was younger, and has lost range of motion in many of his joints, especially his wrists. It is possible that he had Still's Disease at that time, but wasn't diagnosed with it. It is rare and can start with extreme fatigue and spikes of fever every day that get quite high, then go down quickly. He thought he had a flu and strep throat at first, but it continued on and off for about 4 months before they realized what it was.  There's also poor appetite, nausea and weight loss, and a sore throat. It can also affect the heart, lungs, and liver. I'm not sure what else. Finally arthritis with joint swelling occurs. He's had many of these symptoms. Prednisone has helped, but hopefully he doesn't have to continue to be on it. He was looking much better when we saw him a few weeks ago.

Jeanne: Between you and me and the GPS, it could be very interesting.

We are supposed to get snow tonight. This morning we had fog over the lake ... I'll have to take some time to take a picture of it one of these mornings. Seems I notice as I'm heading off to work.

Am praying for Janice and family
Betty

Enjoying God's handiwork!

Janet

I also received an email from Janice's daughter.  I will be praying for Janice and family as they lay their beloved one to rest.  It won't be long until we will ALL be home!  What a glorious day that will be!

I am so tired I am shaking.  Another long, but productive day today.  I got Alexis painted and am starting one of the younger g-g-daughter, Chelsea, covered with mud!  Her bright blue eyes just shine in the photo!

Here is the full obituary for Janice's husband...
here. I only wish I lived closer to Clovis...I would be there in a minute.

Today Ivalou and I go and pickup our tax papers.  Sure hope I don't have to pay...seems like every time I step out the door I am paying some kind of tax.

And I will ask Ivalou if she would like to go to Woody's for lunch.  Their $3.50 hamburger with fries sure sounds great!

It is quit windy out today...constant strong wind.  It is overcast, the temp is 34 degrees and according to the radio, it is to get colder with snow!  Hope it waits until I am back home.

I started Chemo Wrap #10 yesterday.  I am trying to find simple patterns or make them up so they go faster and get done quicker.  New patients every day...so sad to say!!

Hi everyone.  After a very warm day yesterday without storms we are suppose to have a 50% chance of thundershowers today and get up to 67 degrees.  At least there are no severe storm warning in place at the time.  My ROMEO's luncheon group is going to a seafood place for lunch.  A friend is picking me up so Pat will have the car this morning.  I just mailed our absentee ballots for the primary election coming up on March 6th.  I realized it was fortunate we had chosen to vote using the absentee ballots as we will be down in Atlanta with Stacey on that day.  Not much else on the schedule for today.  I did get a lot of little jobs done yesterday and by evening was really tired but a good nights sleep restored me.  Here is a link to a video concerning information about credit and debit cards everyone should be aware of.  It is from a newscast report.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLAFhTjsQHw&sns=em

Janet, it is amazing how a good nights sleep rejuvenates a person.

Carol, interesting that others, especially our children, seem to know what is best for us before they inquire as to our thoughts.  Your trip to Minnesota next year sounds like something to look forward to.

Etta Sue, you are just not used to having to deal with the traffic in Atlanta.  I choose my routes carefully and try to avoid the really busy times.  I go to Atlanta by one route and return by another since I want to avoid a particular section on the way down.  Nice of your friend to give you the yarn.

Janice, am praying for you and your family at this sad time in your life.  I am glad your daughter let us know of Earl's passing.

Betty, thanks for the info on Still's disease.  It sounds like a really terrible disease with so many manifestations.

Jeanne Lee

May our Heavenly Father give comfort to Janice and the family as they cope with Earl's passing.  After Gene died, when I asked the Lord for His strength I felt His loving arm around my shoulders.

Wow! Is the snow ever coming down! It's beautiful even though the roads are not very nice ... I don't think I travelled over 60 km/hr all the way home, and any time I put on the brakes, the car wanted to slide.

Larry: You're right. Still's Disease isn't very nice. I'm always so thankful for our SIL's positive attitude and gentleness towards his family even when not feeling well.
Betty

Enjoying God's handiwork!

Well, our beloved kitty (Bourbie) went across Rainbow Bridge today. He had terrible breathing problems, so my son took him to be checked. His chest cavity was filled with fluids and the vet recommended letting him go.

But, because he loved Bourbie so much, he straightway went to the animal shelter and adopted a kitty with no tail. He said she had been at the shelter quite a while and no one wanted her because she was tail-less. So, realizing she was a loving cat, he wanted to give her a forever home. Her name is Sasha and she is tabby colored with white feet.

This afternoon was taken up for me with my elderly friend (now, you KNOW she's "elderly" if this 71-yr old says so  ^-^ ) to the heart doctor. I laughed and told her she could relax, he has given her at least 6 months, since that's when he told us to return.  :D

Y'all have a great evening with our Lord.

Well, I was updating some of my email subscriptions, and had to change my addy here, so stopped in for a quick visit. I didn't realize that I haven't been around on here since July of '08!
Guess a lot has happened since then.

Tuesday will be one year since I lost my wife, so I'm trying to stay busy and keep myself occupied, so I may well stop in a few times over the next few days. Hopefully this site will become a habit again....

Grace and Peace, y'all

Janet

Good to see you Steeler--welcome back.  Hope you will come in often to visit!

My busy week is done, and I have four completed paintings to show for it!  The one of my little g-grand Chelsea after playing in the mud is so cute!  I will have to figure out how to post photos again, so you can see my paintings.

And Abby (granddaughter, who is now 14) emailed me a photo today that she wants me to paint.  Too late for this class!  But good to know she still wants me to paint her!

Tomorrow I have a book signing at Yardmaster in Hugoton.  That's my daughter's store, and she has done a good job of advertising the signing, so I hope it will be another success.  The Lord is using the book, and I expect it to continue to circulate and sell.  Praise God.

I will send a card to Janice.  She has had a long time of caring for her dear husband, and needs to feel our love and support.  May God wrap His loving arms around the family and hold them close to His heart.

Talk to you later!

Hi everyone.  I woke up to a very chilly 36 degree morning after the warm days we have had.  We had only a little bit of rain yesterday while the ROMEOs were eating lunch.  As the day wore on it got colder and today is only to get to the mid 50s.  Didn't do anything important yesterday.  I am in the last part of a good book and hope to finish it today.  I am reading it on my smartphone so the screen is rather small and the book counted out to over 6,000 screen pages.  However, you can read through a page rather quickly.  I will soon go to coffee and then have a meeting to attend this morning and that will be it.  I need to get started entering the individual Golden Games applications into the database and printing out the individual attendees sheet from the application.

Ruth Ann, sorry bout the beloved kitty.  That is basically the same thing that happened to our cat a few years ago.  Nice your son was able to get another kitty.  It sounds like your son has a very loving heart for animals.

steeler, nice to see your posting and do make us a part of your routine and tell us what you are doing.  Time does go by so quickly.

Janet, it sounds like you painted up a storm but had a great time doing it.  Hope the book signing today will be a great success for you.

Jeanne Lee

Janet, if you want help posting pictures, let me know.  Please!  I'm anxious to see your paintings!   :D

Steeler, great to see you here - I hope we'll be seeing lots more from you.

Ruth Ann, sad that you've had to send Bourbie to the rainbow bridge, but great that you now have Sasha to help fill the void.

Larry, you seem to be really enjoying your smartphone and all the things it can do.   ;)

He Leadeth Me, O Blessed Thought!
(Click to hear music)

Author: Joseph H. Gilmore, 1834-1918
Musician: William B. Bradbury, 1816-1868

He leadeth me, O blessed thought!
O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
Whate'er I do, where?er I be
Still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.

Refrain
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden?s bowers bloom,
By waters still, over troubled sea,
Still 'tis His hand that leadeth me.

Refrain

Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since 'tis my God that leadeth me.

Refrain

And when my task on earth is done,
When by Thy grace the victory's won,
E'en death's cold wave I will not flee,
Since God through Jordan leadeth me.

Refrain

I am seriously thinking of downgrading from my Smart phone back to one that does not have the Internet, I don't use the date feature  except to see how many emails I have. Plus I don't need that extra expense.

I worked very hard for two days on  a Web design for a new website to display some other work I have been doing, so far I only have two pages up and running. My eyes were so tired last night that I shut down and went to bed at 7:30. You can see the new site HERE just click enter to see what comes next.

Keith has come down with a terrible cold so he is still in bed this morning. Have any of you heard about the Adult Whooping cough that has the CDC  telling us to get the vaccine immunizations. It was on the news last night and they said there have already been some deaths. They are recommending that everyone over 65  be vaccinated. Especially those  with any kind of lung issues.

Well, I am home!  I have considerable trouble getting up and down from a sitting  position, however, and I am hoping that Home Health can help me with that when they come today to make my house user friendly.

Etta Sue

Welcome back, Steeler!  Hope your habit brings you back often!

Marilyn, you are getting good with your websites.  Love it!  I would miss the web on my phone...especially the Bible app, the calender, Gas Buddy, and free texting Tony!

Larry, you are right.  I am not used to traffic or closed in spaces.  When I look out my windows I see fields and dirt!  Traffic on my road is three times more than it was when I moved in here 10 years ago but still isn't bad at all.  But I avoid Indianapolis by all means!  I used to drive on the interstates to Indy every day when I worked but that was almost 19 years ago!  So much traffic now and everyone seems to want to get there 10 minutes ago!!

Ruth Ann, glad your son found him another kitty.  I keep thinking when I lose my two, I won't get another.  They keep me from traveling as much as I would like.  But perhaps when that time comes that they are gone, I won't be able to travel and another kitty would be welcomed in my home.  They are such great companions!

Janet, hope your book signing at Yardmaster is a success.  My, would I be happy to see a photo of Abby.  I can't imagine she is 14 now!

Jeanne, so true!  When you ask God for specific things, you can feel his presence!

JudyB, thanks for the music.

Today is cold and windy.  I was cold in the night...mainly because I could hear the wind!  Such a windy winter this year!  Everyone around here comments on the wind.  We got a skim of snow in the night...nothing to brag about...thank God.  It is cold...only 27° right now.  Brrrr!  Partly sunny day!

I need to make a cake today for a pitch-in after church tomorrow.  We have never had a Pitch-In Brunch before.  All we know is biscuits and gravy will be made by a couple.  So I am going to make my Cinnamon Roll Cake again.  Hope it is better this time!!

Edit:  I see Al posted while I was composing!  Welcome home, Al!  Hope your home provides you will all the comforts of home!

That's it for today!  God bless you all!

Marilyn

Welcome home Al it is good to see you posting again.

thank you Etta sue for the comment on my newest website, i am still adding to the other one as well.

AL Welcome home!!  It is so good to have you back.  Hope that Home Health will help you!

Ruth Ann Bice

My goodness! Welcome back Steeler, come again more often. :)

Al, how wonderful to know you're home once again. Yes, Home Health should be able to take care of the rising from a chair issue.

Thank you for mentioning my son's newest addition, little Sasha. Now, if I can ever get that picture downloaded to my computer, I'll try to get someone to help me post it. She's a bit talkative - will meow a tiny little meow when you're calling her. Obviously she's right at home in my son's apartment. She walked right up to her food as soon as I got there, then played with several little toys. Later, she relaxed on the floor nearby. So, I know she'll be a great companion for him since he's confined to the apartment for so many days with various issues connected with his disability.

Y'all have a great evening with our Lord.

We got lots of snow yesterday. I was hoping to post some pictures, and managed to get them into my gallery but not into a message. If you want to see what winter is looking like for us, you can go to my gallery to see them. We certainly don't seem to have any signs of spring yet:)
