JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

I think this will work.  I tried uploading to the Gallery but I don't think I have an album there and couldn't figure out how to make one.  So I saved this in photobucket.

Kitten Chemo Wrap.  33"x49".  Rows of white and dark rose kittens.

I wish I could spend the afternoon with Janet and help her with her cell phone.  I am not techie but I seem to be able to help others with techie things.  I had two people tell me Monday that their browser was Yahoo.  Yahoo isn't a browser.  They both said that's what they use.  So I asked them to close everything out on their laptop.  Then I said, if you want to go to a website what do you do now?  Both clicked on the Internet Explorer icon on their desktop.  Then the Yahoo Search page came up.  They both said, 'See?  There's the Yahoo Browser!'...no, that's the Yahoo search page on your IE browser!  One even said ATT.  No, that's your provider!  Technical words!!

Not much happening in my world today.  I took a nap yesterday and therefore, I went to bed late.  And got up late today.

I have a VBS meeting this evening but that is all that is on the agenda.

I like these kinds of days... ::)

You are doing beautiful work Etta Sue.  What is the size for those?  What kind of yarn do you use?  Do they go to a specific ward in the hospital?  How are they used? All questions I have wondered about and never asked!

It is below 70*F here and I am chilly!

Etta Sue, you have an album but you don't have any pictures in it yet.

It's 12:53 A.M. here. I arrived home from a trip to Toronto, by myself....428 miles/686 KM
Thank you for the birthday greetings, Larry, Pat (Hope you had a Happy one on the 10th!) & Judy. It's today, however my son took me out to the Golden Thai Restaurant yesterday.... I really like their food!! and Tuesday I went to Science North in Sudbury.... so I'm hoping to stay fairly close to home today.

Janet

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RUTH!!

I've been up since 5, got the laundry all done and folded, sorted and discarded junk mail, listened to Joseph Prince.  I have an 8:15 chiropractic appointment, then at noon will leave with Beth for the appointment with the oral surgeon in Garden City.  Prayers about this situation appreciated so much!

I'll be back later....... :wave:

Well, being a baseball fan, I'm happy today.  SF's Matt Cain threw a perfect game last night - 27 up and 27 down.  Having been a pitcher in highschool, I really appreciate that.  Much more importantly - may all of us here walk closely with our Lord today!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We had a very hot day yesterday.  It turned out to be a busy one as soon after coffee I took Pat to Kaiser so she could have her physical.  We then stopped to have lunch and then on the way home stopped at Aldi's to get several items, since it was on the way.  By the time we got home we both were literally exhausted and laid down for the rest of the afternoon.  I was still tired and went to bed early last night and don't seem to be very rested the morning.

We have a carpenter here today, who has done some work for us before, as we need to widen the doorway into our master bath, have some grab bars put up in the master bath and a couple of other things.  This man does beautiful work and is very quick about it.  He is a bit expensive but does excellent work and did our upstairs renovations several years ago and built the slide out drawers for our under the counter kitchen cabinets.  I just got back from going with him to Home Depot to get the new door and grab bars and the others things he needs to do the job.  He indicated he will have probably have it done by evening.

Janet, I am confident you wouldn't have any problem with an iPad.  I could certainly help you if you had problems and since it has FaceTime we could even talk face to face.  I take mine with me everyday to coffee as they have free wi-fi at McDonalds and elsewhere.  Did you get an iPhone?   So sorry to hear of the new tumors in Beth's mouth.  Remember the serenity prayer as it will help you get through those really tough days, hours or moments.  You are doing all you can do for Beth and staying positive for her is probably very important.

Ruth Ann, if you know your email address and the password setting it up to get your emails is a snap.  The iPhone would work just the same.  If you want give me a call and I will walk you through the steps.  Just click on settings and you will see on the left "Mail, contacats, Calendars".  Click on that and then "Add an Account", next screen click on "Other" and on the next screen under the Mail heading "Add Mail Account" and fill in your information.  You should be set to go.

Etta Sue, as I am sure you know your friends computer was set to open Yahoo as the home page.

RuthV, you have certainly been busy.  That was a long trip.  I don't know that I have ever really eaten in a Thai Restaurant.

Al, that is an accomplishment that most pitchers never achieve so it is certainly noteworthy.  I just haven't gotten interested in baseball for a few years but still like football, college and pro although I never played it and can't say I really understand a lot about the game.

At the Cross
(Click to hear music)

"There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all men." 1 Timothy 2:5-6

Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707; Ralph E. Hudson wrote the refrain in 1885.
Music: "Martyrdom," Hugh Wilson, 1800

Alas! and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For sinners such as I?
[originally, For such a worm as I?]
Refrain

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine—
And bathed in its own blood—
While the firm mark of wrath divine,
His Soul in anguish stood.

Refrain

Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!

Refrain

Well might the sun in darkness hide
And shut his glories in,
When Christ, the mighty Maker died,
For man the creature's sin.

Refrain

Thus might I hide my blushing face
While His dear cross appears,
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt my eyes to tears.

Refrain

But drops of grief can ne'er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give my self away
'Tis all that I can do.

Refrain

I went through all the pages of albums and didn't find mine.  But I can use Photobucket if I need to post an image on here.

JudyB, If you can imagine these wraps being wide enough to go from shoulder to hips and then long enough to wrap around the back of a person, around arm to around arm, that is the size.  I try to make mine around 30" x 50"...better to be too big than too small but then kids have to have chemo also.  As for yarn, I am using scrap yarn that is 4-ply knitting worsted.  I have learned how to make my starting chains so they work out even by a pattern to make them smaller in width than an afghan pattern.  This particular Kitten wrap was made with Caron One Pound yarn.  It measured 33" x 49".  It is quite heavy since the 'paws' are long puff stitches.  I normally take my chemo wraps to my local hospital for the chemo patients.  The co-ordinator there lets the patient pick out their wrap...it is theirs to keep.  They can leave it at the hospital or take it home and bring it back for their next session of chemo.  Remember chemo is liquid and is room temperature...our temperature is 98.6° so the patient gets quite cool when receiving chemo.  If you knit or crochet or even quilt, you can adapt patterns for Chemo Wraps.  And sorry to say....there is a need for Chemo Wraps.

I usually get bored in doing things like this but about the time I am about done with one, another is in my thoughts.  I think it matters when you put love into every stitch.

Janet, I am hoping and praying that you get great news today from Beth's oral surgeon.

Larry, you must have a fantastic carpenter to change the width of a doorway in one afternoon!  He is a keeper, for sure!  Sometimes time offsets expense!

I don't know why but I seemed to be cold all night last night.  So today I am dressed in jeans and a t-shirt!  It's not cold outside so I don't know why I am chilled.  I have no plans to go anywhere today...maybe to Ivalou's and visit.  I gave her yesterday a day of rest from a busy 10 days with her family!

Hi, friends, Although I've been out and about today a bit, I'm still really tired so will turn in early again this evening.

Much love to everyone - Etta Sue, I really like that pattern!

May our Father Who loves us, grant blessings and strengths for the remainder of our day.

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful morning with a nice weekend predicted for Father's Day.  It has been a busy morning after coffee I went to Lowe's to return and item and get a new kit for one of the toilet tanks so that the man here working can install it.  I then made a quick stop at Walmart and got a new watch battery as mine died yesterday and also picked up a new AT&T phone for Pat to try as hers keeps dropping calls.  We have 15 days to see if this new phone makes any difference and if not I can return it for a full refund.  Then in a little bit my friend from church is picking me up and I am going to my Romeo's luncheon. Today we are eating at Chili's.  Our repair work should be completed by early afternoon.  The new door is in and looks like an original as the carpenter has done such a good job.  He still have to fashion the door plate (or whatever it is called to fit across the threshold.  He is currently installing the three grab bars we are putting in the bathroom and installing the new kit for the toilet tank I just bought.  I will be ready for a nap this afternoon.

Etta Sue, it is obvious from your postings that your chemo wrap project is a labor of love.  Are the ladies of your knitting group at church still helping with the project?  I would prefer to pay a premium and get quality work than hire "Joe Blow" and have no idea of the value of this work and end up with a mess.

Ruth Ann, I understand your feeling tired as have been going through that the last couple of days.  I didn't feel rested this morning when I got up but will do what I need to do and then rest the remainder of the day.

Awake, My Soul in Joyful Lays
(Click to hear music)

"Who hath made man's mouth?" Exodus 4:11

Words: John Needham, d.c. 1786

Music: "Duke Street," attributed to John Hatton, 1793

Awake, my soul, to joyful lays,
And sing thy great Redeemer's praise;
He justly claims a song from me -
His lovingkindness, O how free!
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness, O how free!

He saw me ruined in the fall,
Yet loved me notwithstanding all;
He saved me from my lost estate -
His lovingkindness, O how great!
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness, O how great!

Though numerous hosts of mighty foes,
Though earth and hell my way oppose,
He safely leads my soul along -
His lovingkindness, O how strong!
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness, O how strong!

When trouble, like a gloomy cloud,
Has gathered thick and thundered loud,
He near my soul has always stood -
His lovingkindness, O how good!
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness, O how good!

Often I feel my sinful heart
Prone from my Jesus to depart;
But though I have him oft forgot,
His lovingkindness changes not.
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness changes not.

Soon I shall pass the gloomy vale,
Soon all my mortal powers must fail;
O! may my last expiring breath
His lovingkindness sing in death.
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness sing in death.

Then let me mount and soar away
To the bright world of endless day;
And sing with raptures and surprise,
His lovingkindness in the skies.
Lovingkindness, lovingkindness,
His lovingkindness in the skies.

Well, about the time I think I have extra money, along comes someone that thinks they need it more.  Kaye Don had two maple trees cut down and the others trimmed up yesterday.  Ivalou is hiring them to have four maple trees trimmed and then spraying the trees and around the house.  (Kaye Don had one tree full of Japanese beetles and termites)  And I am having 6 trees and spraying done.  They are doing a great job for Kaye Don and hopefully they will do the same for Ivalou and I.  All the trimmings are being taken to the woods for kindling and burning.

Not much other news.  Ivalou and I did go to Noblesville yesterday for her to pick up her certified letters that our neighbor sent out and then we ate at China Inn.  Seems we have a lot to catch up on since she was gone over a week.

And Ivalou just left my house and we had talked some more.

Nothing more to do today other than find something to eat and then I will read.  I think I will read outside today under my umbrella at my bistro!

I posted on the blog on my website early this morning, if you're reading that.  I had a page full of items to do today and have just checked off the last one--good feeling!  However, that doesn't mean I have everything done I need to do!

We will go to Garden for the book signing tomorrow, then come home, load our suitcases, unload whatever we need to, and head toward Denver!  We may spend a few hours along the way somewhere to sleep a while. We plan to get a fairly early start tomorrow in order to get everything done we need to do in Garden before the book signing, so we can head home ASAP.  Then we fly away to Vienna!

Beth seems to have no ill effects from yesterday's biopsy.

(Written just before midnight, June 14th..... however, didn't post!)

Thank you all for your good birthday wishes. I had a marvelous day. I went up this morning to pick up my 12 year old grandson for a two day visit. His Grade 6 class have gone for a retreat and for various reasons he did not go. While up in North Bay, my daughter took me to breakfast, I shopped for some groceries and came home.
At home we made sandwiches for lunch, watched David & Goliath; the 1952 version, listened to a tape called :the Best Christmas Play Ever"  :D made a birthday cake and also watched two 30 minute DVD's about the last 4 Ten Commandments.

Today:

After breakfast we went over to a friends to help transfer wood into his basement. My grandson helped and met two new friends. I took him back to North Bay tonight as we have a busy day planned for tomorrow. Goodnight and God bless you all!!

 :)  Well as all can see it is very early on Saturday  morning and I have just had a very busy Friday as we had Ernie Haase ans Signature Sound  southern gospel group here in Welland Ontario and this has been one of the best concerts that I have been to in all my Christian life.

  They were so powerful and they did so many different kinds of music but the main thing is that they are such a witness for the Lord and they make sure that you do not leave that concert without being blessed.  If you know that they are going to be in your area try to not miss going to here them.  There were people got saved tonight Praise the Lord for this and that's what it is all about.

Judy B. :  Again thanks for all these great and fantastic hymns.

Al.:  I am so glad to see you here on the site and to see that you are so well and able to be sending your post's it is great how the Lord gives us strength.  Keep on keeping on God's richest blessing's to you and the wife.  Gordon.

Ruth V.:  Belated birthday and I hope you have many more.  God's richest blessings to you. Say hi to your daughter from both of us. :) :hbirthday: :hb2: :hb3:

Janet:  Hope that you are well and I do hope that you have a great trip and a safe one and also get good result for your daughter :thumbsup:

Well I think its time to get to sleep as I have to be at my daughters by 8-00a.m. to pick up her kids as her and her husband have to work.  Thank you all for praying for me for my Vertigo and it seems that it is almost completely gone Again Praise his name for ever.   Gordon and Noreen :thumbsup: :nanadance: :pine: :cp:

Missed all of you while we were on a celebration trip to Iceland, Norway and the Riviera area of France.  Iceland had terrible weather, even snowing and wind but it is so interesting and a stark beauty.  Loved the cruise to the fjords in Norway - even endured strikes at the Oslo port and all - loved those shrimp sandwiches.  Everyone spoke Norwegian to me the entire time.  It was crazy.  We rented an apartment in a house in France and took the train and bus or boat daily.  Stopped in Minneapolis for visits with friends but not relatives this time and they had a storm of almost 8 in. of rain while we are searching for a house address.  Angels got us home safely.  There is a big fire west of Fort Collins and smoke is 100 miles away even at our house - please pray for all the firefighters and all who are losing property.

Happy birthday Ruth V.

Gord:  What a wonderful experience for you.

I took a break from deleting emails that have built up while we were away - it is so deflating to see so many - we only open the most important ones.

Coyotes woke me at 4:57 AM today.  I saw two of them scurry away.   We are waiting to hear if our youngest son will get a new roof - they had 7 leaks from the last storm.

Because He Lives
(Click to hear music)

Words and music by William J. Gaither
copyright 1971

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
Matthew 28:6

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

I think today is going to be about the same as yesterday....a lazy, do nothing day but read!

We are so in need of rain.  I haven't mowed the grass for two weeks and my grass is brown in a lot of areas.  And no rain today either.  Not a cloud in the sky!  There is a gentle breeze so I may take my book outside and read will swinging in my swing.

Hi everyone,  Just got up from about 3 hours of resting as had a super busy morning and was really dragging by the time I ate lunch and could lay down.  After coffee I headed down to Atlanta to pick up Stacey but made two brief stops at Home Depot and Lowe's to return items we didn't need for the projects of the last couple of days.  Then got the transport chair out and went and got Stacey and had to make a second trip with the chair as she was bringing out a big bag of laundry to do this afternoon.  Then we made the hour drive back to the house and unloaded.  She seems to be getting along pretty well and this time brought out her walker as she isn't suppose to walk without it until she sees the surgeon again on Tuesday.  Later today we will go out to eat and that will be the day.

Etta Sue, I bet your place will look very nice with the trimmed trees.  Having a home can be an expensive venture as I found out the last couple of days.

Janet, I don't think you had mentioned where you and Darrel were going on your trip.  Vienna sounds very nice.  I used to live in Vienna, Virginia, but guess that isn't the same thing!  :)  Hope you sold a lot of books today at the book signing.

RuthV, it sounds like you had a great time with your grandson.  That transferring wood doesn't sound like a great thing to do around your birthday.  :)

Gord, the concert must have been something very special.  Glad you were able to attend.

Carol, what a wonderful trip.  I had lunch with a church friend yesterday who just returned from Norway and Amsterdam and they had spent some time on a cruise.  He doesn't like to cruise but his wife does and she went with him this time.  Those fires sound terrible.

Janet

Hello, everyone!  We are just home from Garden City.  The book signing was a success, and I got to talk to several people about NF.  Sad that so few ever heard of it, but I am doing my part to change that!

Carol, I would love to have been on that trip!  We are considering joining friends we met last year for a trip to Iceland next year.  Glad you are home safely and hope those fires don't get any closer to you!

We are leaving about 2 AM for the drive to Denver (Darrel changed his mind on the plan.)  So we will be heading to bed VERY early tonight!

Gord, the concert sounds great, glad you got to be there and enjoy it.

Etta Sue, hope you get some rain soon.  It looked like they had a good rain north of us, the fields were quite muddy.  We got some rain and lots of wind.

I got a lovely rolling bag for this laptop and other items, so I'm a happy camper!  Now I can keep in touch with all of you while I am away!  And if you would like to send Beth an email, you can go to TheLegacy@ParkView.com and send one through their system.  She would like that a lot!  That's how I plan to keep in contact with her.  I will check that address and make sure it's right.

I need to finish packing a few things and get ready to try to sleep!  Shouldn't be too hard, as I've been up since 5:15 this morning.

Good evening, friends,

After finally waking up, I felt so much better.  Also, the humidity was down, so it was wonderful to have the car windows rolled down. Friends had a flat tire, so I left to give them assistance, but a nice couple (actually the ones who noticed the tire was flat) were standing beside the car after having used their compressor to inflate the tire. So, I followed them to make certain they made it to a Firestone store. Then sat and enjoyed the breezes while the man really went over that tire, and finally found a tiny, odd-shaped puncture. So, the tire is now fixed, praise His name, and then we went on to an inexpensive serve yourself pizza place.

Yum! Their ultra thin crust version was wonderful, the staff so friendly, and company of course was best of all. :)

My 8 year old granddaughter has been ill all week with high fevers, etc. So, this morning was the 3rd visit to get medical care. One of her lungs sounds a bit bad, but the doctor said to let her finish the antibiotic, and then to cough it out until the lung is well. What a blessing to know our Lord not only heals, He answers prayer.

Much love to all,
Ruth Ann

Let's start this week off with a bang for Father's Day!  We can all go to a nice, clean place to start chatting again here.
