JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful morning here in Georgia, a bit cool but sunny. This is going to be a full day as Pat has a dental appointment this morning and while she is there I will go to a drug store to pick up one of those grabbers for Stacey, the Post Office and also to Belks as they are having a special sale of winter clothes and I need a couple of new sweaters. I will also have to get the car filled with gas because as soon as I bring Pat home I will head down to Atlanta to pick up Stacey and bring her out for a day or two.  That will be plenty for one day.

Either our satellite receiver or the remote in the kitchen quite working this morning.  The last couple of days it wasn't acting right and this morning I can't do anything on it.  So I will have to call them and probably exchange out equipment.  Fortunately the store is in the same shopping center with McDonald's so it isn't a long trip but there is usually a line waiting to be served.

Ruth Ann, I have never used the Virtual PC.  I am not much on playing games on the computer but do enjoy jigsaw puzzles.  Thanks for the update on your family.

Janet, so sad that your friend died before you could gather the material to write the book about her life.  I will have to come back and read Leon's story later as am a bit rushed for time this morning.

RuthV, glad you stopped by and gave us an update.  You certainly have been busy.

Janice, also good to see a posting from you yesterday.  Janice, check out the site www.pixelofink.com as they offer free books daily of various types.  They also have a daily Inspirational site.  You can sign up for emails daily that has the same thing as the website.  I have downloaded many, many free books since I found the site and many of them are very good.  I like mysteries but have also found some other very good books.  Also, you might check with your library if they have books to loan for the Kindle.  I recently set my wife's Kindle up to be able to use the Overdrive books from our library, although that wasn't a simple process.  I did find a great YouTube video that walked me through the process.

Interesting that there is an application Virtual PC to let you use programs from older operating systems.  Way back 10 years or more, in the days when I was using only the Mac, there was an application called "Virtual PC" that let you use Microsoft applications on the Mac.  That disappeared when "Back Door" or whatever it's called was introduced with later OS's.

Janice~ www.amazon.com has free Kindle books also.  I look on the computer for the ones I like and then I download it to Kindle on my Droid Razr.

Yesterday I think was a record breaking for the amount of people in the pool.  I stopped counting at 20!  The maximum limit is 87.  You really had to look over your shoulder or you were running into people!

Today is our Class Lunch.  Kitty is going with me.  We are driving to US40 almost to I-465 to an Olive Gardens.  We have one lady that comes from Bloomington, IN, and one guy from St. Paul, IN.  We are trying to make their trips shorter this time!

I haven't heard anymore from Chuck.  Doesn't surprise me.  It will be a surprise if I do get to see him.

I am still fighting the awful overload of emails!  Have gotten those on pld.com down to about 900, so am making progress.  It's a job I hate, as I feel I am wasting time and I do not like to waste my time!

Thanks for all the comments on the Legacy stories.  I am to interview another lady this afternoon, hate to do it today as it is Darrel's birthday!  But maybe it won't take so long.  I have spent over three hours with my friend Maxine getting her story.  I wish I had done that a year ago, as she has forgotten so much in the past year.  But one can only do so much.....

RuthV, good to see a post from you!  You have been missed here!

Janice, it's good that your daughter is urging you to get out more.  I can see from my time at the Legacy how much social interaction keeps folks' minds alert, plus the other physical benefits.  Maybe it will help you not to think about the pain you are enduring, as we can only think of one thing at a time.  Hugs to you!

I need to call my kids about the Sunday gathering for celebrating Darrel's birthday.  See you later!

Carol

I am glad someone mentioned the overload of emails.  There are just too many to look at and it takes so much time to go down the line and delete delete and delete.

Just poking along today after a medical treatment yesterday.  Bad night sleeping so I went to the bed in the basement and listened to nightime talk radio on low so I finally fell asleep.  I was going to make clam chowder in the crockpot and could not find any canned clams.  Fresh would be better but this is no where near the salt water.

We had a letter from the community stating that our fence and brick must be repaired 21 days from the date on the letter.  The joke here is that they forgot to date the letter.  This irks me because the homeowner's group insurance of 101 houses has had problems getting two people out to fix the problem.  It is not our personal problem but the entire group's issue.

There has been a tremendous effort to find a 10-year-old girl here and now they have discovered remains but not identified as yet.  Terribly sad for everyone.  I do hope the family turns to faith.  Speaking of, the RN helping me yesterday kept talking about Thanksgiving and not wanting anyone to even mention God.  She was such an unhappy person.

Happy Birthday greetings to Darrel on Sunday!!!

Marilyn

Good afternoon or evening where ever you are. Probably evening since I am in Oregon on Pacific time. It's been a busy day here at home don't go back to work  until Saturday. Today I've been doing laundry etc.  Just being busy. I though you might like to see a photo of me at work. In this photo I am doing the final clean up on a Pit Bulls  surgery area. we have to make sure there is no blood or bleeding from the incision and that the tattoo isn't bleeding either. Joan is at his hear  untying the string from around his muzzle that hold the breathing tube in place during surgery and making sure his tongue is hanging out so he won't choke on the tongue. We also put Karo syrup  on the gums as it helps them to come around, and help us to see them coming around when they start to lick their lips and swallow. we remove the tube when they can swallow or when they pull their tongue back inward.

Thanks, Carol.  Darrel's birthday is today, but we are having a dinner for him on Sunday evening.

I got another interview done today.  Evelyn is 92, but her memory is sharp and she enjoyed our visit, as did I.

Darrel is frying chicken for his birthday supper tonight!

Pat is home in  Guelph again.  She has Dr's appts and other things to get caught up on.  However she is around.

I have been scarce as well.  No particular reason, just not on the puter as much.

I wish i had realized my camera was at my fingertips yesterday. We have a white cat who we are/were keeping because of her mousing abilities.  Last night I walked in to the kitchen and saw her laying under a chair, and a mouse was walking around the cross bars while she seemed to "pet" him with her paw.  Nothing vicious just gentle touching.  I moved and he jumped, she looked at me and meowed!  What is with her that she didn't "get him"!  We may have to get a new home for her!

John has another trainee this week, then a different one next week.  Busy time for him.  We are praying for a windy day and clear for Saturday.  we have wood to get in, which is difficult to do in the rain.

Off for now  Have a good night everyone!

Janice

A short reply, as I need to get to bed soon.  Coming down with a sinus infection and have felt sick all day.  I seldom get sick, but I sure recognize what this is.

I wanted to say Thank you to Larry for the link where I can get free books for the Kindle.  I sent the link to daughter and both gr dtrs as well, they all have Kindles.  I will check it out further tomorrow as I need rest and sleep right now.  Thanks again.

Also thanks to Etta Sue, although I had used that one already tonight.  I must get my stylus in control better, I downloaded a book that I really did not want.  ha.  I will learn eventually, how to do things.

Marilyn, I have a feeling you make a good helper at that clinic, because you love animals so much.  That is a good picture.  I see several people helping at the Vet's office where I take Jackie, my little Boston Terrier.  She was spayed at 6 months, in August.  And then in September she had to have two teeth removed and some bone cut away beneath one of them.  I saw several helpers out there.  I hope no more surgery for her....that gets expensive!
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. Â  Ps 118:24

Hi, friends, it's so late, I think I should say "Good morning, most likely I'm the first one here today!"

It was such a busy day, and I needed time to unwind before trying to go to bed.

Now, to set the alarm, find a comfy place in my bed, and snuggle up for this chilly evening's rest. :)

It's wonderful to hear from everyone, and I'll try to talk more tomorrow.

Love to y'all, and most of all, love, honor, and glory to my Saviour and Lord.

Ruth Ann, thanks for the explanation of your kids!

Janet, thanks for all the stories from The Legacy.  A great bunch of people and I hope their families thank you too for such great stories and memories of their loved ones.

I only have a few minutes.  I take Ivalou to her Nurse today for her Medicare Wellness Exam.  She does have her rotor cup surgery the 24th.  I think her daughter is coming for the surgery and will probably take Ivalou home with her.

They are picking/combining Kaye Don's cornfield as I am typing!  Yay!!

Yesterday was a great lunch with 12 of my classmates and spouses.  Good food...great conversation.

Today is another beautiful day.  Cold but very pretty out.

Tony called this morning and wanted to know if I have heard from Chuck.  No, I haven't.  Tony and Charlene are leaving for Gatlinburg NEXT Friday evening.  So hope if Chuck comes, it will be before that.

Kitty gave me a Canon G9 camera.  She got a new one and said she paid too much for it to just set.  And of course, she couldn't find the instruction book but I will see what I can do.  She said there are manuals online so I might have to find that!

Well, better get to Ivalou's and get on the road again.

Hi everyone.  Just back from the Senior Center and then going to McDonald's to get Pat and Stacey something for breakfast.  Stacey is planning on staying again tonight and I will take her home tomorrow morning.  I couldn't believe it when she reminded us she hadn't been out since my birthday in February.  Of course we had seen her but had gone to Atlanta to do that.  This has been a very tough year for her with her broken hip and numerous hospitalizations.  We are going to go to Red Lobster for lunch today as that is her favorite place.  She loves shrimp.  That will be our main activity for the day.

Etta Sue, nice of your class to try to accommodate the classmates who attend from further away.

Carol, are you aware that you can listen to radio using the iPad.  I no longer have a radio but use the TuneIn Radio app or IHeart radio.  Most radio stations now stream their programming.  I use ear buds to listen as they are comfortable and not hot.  I used to use a headset but it covered my ears and they would get hot.  Do hope you had a better night last night.

Marilyn, how interesting about the Karo syrup used on the animals.

Janet, what a guy Darrel is to fry his own chicken for his birthday supper.  Hope you all had a nice time.  Did he get some type of special gift for his 75th birthday?

Judy, don't cats sometimes like to play with the mouse to keep themselves amused?  Glad to know that Pat has safely made the trip back to Guelph.

Janice, sinus infections are always so uncomfortable.  It has been a lot of years since I have had one and hope yours is short lived.  To remove a book from the Kindle just hold down on the cover in the library view and then choose to put it in the archives.  If you have purchased the book from Amazon, even the free ones, it is saved in your account in the cloud and can be downloaded again if desired.

Ruth Ann, hope you didn't need to get up too early today as you were certainly up late.

Janet

I'm fading fast!  Had a really short night, sleep-wise, up early, to work by 6:25, (seems I am having a hard time getting Debra to understand the words I'm retiring!) after work went to Liberal with the seniors on the bus to go to the Mid America Air Museum.  It is very nice!  Then back to Ulysses, to Pat's to get my hair done, then home, and been on this computer almost ever since.  Whew!  So it will be early to bed for me tonight!

I enjoyed each post, will try to do better next time myself.  Maybe not tomorrow, it is my painting day again, and then also need to bake a couple of cherry pies for Sunday.  That's when we are having the family plus a few friends to celebrate Darrel's birthday.

Later!

Janice;  It is really nice to see you popping in here with your posts and I do hope you won't have that sinus infection very long.  You can load free Kindle books from the library as well but most are only available for 14 to 21 days so that can be too short of a time in some instances.  It is worth a try though.

Larry:  I have Pandora for songs but radios placed around the house close to sitting areas.  Was not aware that a book could be saved in the Cloud.  How great that Stacey has been back to visit you and Pat!

In our area, there is a massive manhunt for the child killer - actually in the north end of Denver and we are SW but the backpack was found near our daughter's area.  And, we had had a big rain this afternoon with snow was predicted for over 8,000 ft.  I hope and pray for a good snowfall for water next year.

I am not feeling up to par having to wear support stockings for a few weeks and they make me cranky and the procedure has given me a non-stop headache.  But all will be well one of these days so I am so grateful.  The weather has cooled and that is such a relief.  We will go and watch a grandson in his band uniform tomorrow.  Two nights now have had webcam of other grandson playing hockey - his family is there with him for family weekend.  Don calls in for jury duty on Mon and we seem to have nothing but appointments.

Update:  A suspect has been arrested in the above case.  Please pray for all the children and families in the area as this story unfolds.  The news really should have held back details we really do not need to know.

Hi, friends,

Today was "social butterfly" day at lunch - 3 of us met at a neat restaurant across from Opryland Hotel called Caney Fork Fish Camp. It's really a hoot to go in there - stuffed wild animals, half an old pickup truck, painted fire engine red mounted on one wall, several wooden items like the wooden Indian, the cowboy, another fisherman carrying a large fish, and, in one area, an actual pond with a waterfall and real fish in it. So, the most shy one of our bunch really had a lovely time. And, the food is good, too. And reasonably priced. Check out the video tab.

http://www.caneyforkrestaurant.com

Then, met with the SHIP volunteers coordinator to exchange the 150 or so data sheets I input last month and got the ones for this month - of course with open enrollment coming up, it's really important to keep all this reporting up to date for Medicare.

Next, I attended a revival service at a local Salvation Army church. Everyone was so nice, and the sermon was great.

Finally, a run out to the house with Son #1, who actually "rescued me, and also Son #2's clothing." It was what I brought back when I was gone this weekend. I went to my car yesterday to wait and listen to the radio before putting the clothing in the dryer. Well, it's a good thing it was chilly last night, and cool today, for the house keys were on the dryer! Fortunately he had a key and agreed to ride out to the house this evening to let me in. I don't like driving at night without someone in the car with me.

So, now, it's time to "rest my eyes" for another evening of sleep, resting safely in our Father's arms while I'm sleeping.

G'night, friends,
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  Just now back from taking Stacey back to her apartment.  It is a beautiful morning and the traffic wasn't heavy this morning so was a nice drive.  I will rest this afternoon and watch some football.  Both the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech have a weekend off from football.

Janet, you sure had a busy Friday after having had a short sleeping night.

Carol, sorry to read that you are not feeling well.  The case of the missing child in your area has been on our news so knew the little girl had been found.

Ruth Ann, you also had a avery full day yesterday.  Glad you were able to get back into your apartment.

Etta Sue

My mind wouldn't quit last night and let me sleep.  I was trying to remember the name of one of my bosses where I worked for a year and a half in 1982 and 83!  I even got up and sat at the computer searching.  Finally back to bed at 3:15am and it came to me...Chris Barkley!  I went to sleep right after that.

Tony called last night and asked me to unlock the little door to the garage.  He was coming early this morning..he arises at 4:45am to go to work so gets up early on the weekends too.  He didn't want to wake me up.  He fixed the tire on the mower with Slime but now I am to drive it around the yard to coat the inside of the tire with it!  Bless his heart!

And I didn't get up until 10am, had breakfast, read my devotions, and made papers for the next two weeks Sunday School lessons.  My coffee was terrible this morning so now I am running water through my Brita pitcher with a new filter in it.

Need to see what the temp is and go move the mower around!

Well, Larry, it was the key to the house that Son #2 is buying from me that I locked inside. And, I had washed the clothes that he sent back with me whenI was with him last weekend. So, it certainly is a good thing that the weather was cool enough his clothes didn't need to be re-washed last night. And, also it's even "cooler" that Son #1 still had a key to the back door from the years he had lived with me at that house. Whew! Glad that senior moment was able to be remedied.

Etta Sue, one of my sons gets up really early, so I understand that he wanted to get in prior to your wakeup time. :) How nice he fixed it for you.

Y'all have a good rest of the day. I believe I'll go back to the Salvation Army revival service again tonight.

Much love to all, and even MORE love for our Lord.

I'm back home again!  I am seriously thinking of dropping out of the painting group, even though I enjoy the painting and the fellowship with the gals.  But driving 2 1/2 hours each way, to paint a simple piece just seems a waste of money and time, at least sometimes it does.  Today was so hectic.  I got up at 5 AM, got dressed and got my painting stuff together, then worked on a story from the Legacy for 45 minutes.  I left home early, wich was a good thing, as the fog was like potato soup!  I was so tense by the time I got to Lakin to pick up Winona, that I felt every nerve was stretched to the breaking point.

The fog lifted pretty soon after that and was sunny by the time we got to Spearville.  But we have two or three gals who talk so LOUD, and all at once, and my nerves just weren't in the mood for it today.  Okay, I will shut up now.   :-X  Sorry for the rant.

Larry, so glad you had a pleasant trip to Atlanta with Stacey and are safely home.
Carol, sorry you are having problems and do hope the awful killer of the little girl is caught soon---hope they don't just assume the one they arrested is the one and stop looking.

Ruth Ann, glad things worked out well for you and your sons.

Etta Sue, glad Tony got the tire repaired.

Hello to anyone else I may have missed.  Need to get busy putting the leaves in the table and doing a little decorating for tomorrow--and making cherry pies!

Hi everyone, It was a long hectic day at the clinic today we had upwards of 55 cats and 1 dog. I worked 6 hours, my back hurts and my feet hurt. So I am going to call it an early night and hit the sack by 8 pm.

Tony got the tire fixed and told me to run the tractor so the Slime would coat the inside of the tire.  No use doing that without the mower blade working.  So I made about 5 rounds between Ivalou and I and the tractor stopped.  The motor was working.  The blades were working but it wouldn't go forward or backward.

I called Tony and did everything he suggested...nothing.  I hung up.  Got off the tractor and thought I saw a stick on top of the mower.  It was a belt...broken.  I got the manual and determined it was the drive belt.  Tony got here and we found another drive belt but it was bad, too.  Would break soon!  So I came to the house and ordered a belt from online.

Then Tony came in and said that maybe there was a parts store around.  Duh!  There is a Sears Hometown Store in Noblesville!!
I called there and sure enough they had the belt.  But what do I do with the one I ordered online?  I can't cancel it but when it comes in, I can take it, box and all and the receipt from yesterday's purchase and get my credit card refunded!

I went to Noblesville to get the belt.

Tony is to come sometime today and fix the mower.

Tomorrow I can't mow...it is Senior Saints day at the Indianapolis Zoo.  Tuesday is Euchre and I take Ivalou for her pre-op Wednesday.  No rest for the wicked!

Good morning, friends,

Well, the Salvation Army people asked me to return for their morning service which will be the revival conclusion. They asked me to play piano last night, and enjoyed it, so I'll be playing this morning again. The message was WONDERFUL. The minister preached two sermons from Jeremiah 24. Oh, what good points he brought to mind. I'm glad my cell phone bible allows me to take notes!

Now, to get ready to go and pick up the friend who has been going from here.

Y'all have a good day with our Lord.

Hello all,
I have read through many of the post but have not had time to completely catch up from some time ago. A lot has happened for us here. We have moved to a new town (still in the OK panhandle), Ruth is getting big and ornery (over a week she grew 2 inches), my dad had a heart attack at the end of June but he is recovering and doing well, and work has been crazy busy. I would update more but need to get off here to get ready for church Hope you all have a great day!
Sarah

JudyB

Have been thinking about you Sarah, sorry about your dad. Keep us updated and know we are praying.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Am ready for church and think Pat will also be going with me this morning.  That will be our main activity for the day.  I expect we will find somewhere to eat lunch but that will depend on how she is feeling when the service is over about 12:15 pm.  Other than taking Stacey home yesterday I had a nice quiet afternoon of napping and watching football.  This afternoon and evening will be more of the same.  I see the Atlanta Falcons play the Oakland Raiders at 1 pm.

Etta Sue, don't think I have heard of Slime to fix tires.  This has not been the week for your mower.  Is there urgency to mow or is it to pick up leaves at this time of the year?  Our yard is not growing very fast and is showing the signs of fall as are the trees, although very few leaves have fallen yet.  They will once we have a frost.

Ruth Ann, thanks for the explanation of the key situation.  Life gets a little complicated on occasion.  :)  I have never attended a Salvation Army event.    Is the revival in preparation for the Christmas season?  I am sure they appreciate your playing the piano for them.

Janet, better to let off steam to us as sure we can understand and are not involved in the situation.  I think we always feel better when we share our frustrations with another person who isn't directly involved.  I can understand why you feel it may be time to stop attending your painting group.  You have added your writing to your schedule and have plenty of other responsibilities.  Being around folks who speak too loudly is very fraying on the nerves.

Marilyn, doesn't your clinic schedule its work so it isn't overloaded on a given day or is that a normal caseload.  Hope you were able to rest last night and feel better today.

Sarah, good to see you posting and glad to read that your dad is doing well in his recovery from his heart attack.  You have had a busy summer for sure.  How old is Ruth now?
