Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Dining on a Different Kind of Bread

BIBLE MEDITATION:
"Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us." Numbers 14:9

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

When the Israelites were headed into the Promised Land, there were some demon-possessed giants called Anakim. And when the twelve spies went to spy out the land, ten came back saying, "The land is full of milk and honey, corn and wine, oil and pomegranates, figs and grapes. But, hey, we can't take this land—there are giants in it!"

But two of the spies said, "Don't fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us." Bread, like your toast this morning. "Their defense is departed from them, and the Lord is with us; fear them not." They said, "Look, these people are a piece of cake. They're bread for us."

Why do you eat bread? For strength. Bread gives energy. Bread is the staff of life. What was God saying? These things that look like problems? They are your food. "Anakim—the breakfast of champions."

ACTION POINT:

It's when you feed on these problems that you grow. Our Lord isn't looking for softies as disciples. Remember, you're governed by His providence when you're in a storm. He rules over all. And you are growing by His plan. In the storm you're going to grow and become more and more like the Lord Jesus Christ.

Janice

Jeanne, thank you for today's devotional reading.  I was not able to go to church, but did listen and watch Adrian Rogers on TV this morning.  They are still broadcasting his sermons on TBN although he died several years ago.

Etta Sue, you lucky girl, basking in all that sunny weather!  It is still winter here.  The cold weather has really bothered me this year, unlike all previous winters.

Not feeling well today, heart rate too fast.
Gr Dtr and family safely in Korea now.  Hope that is a safe place to BE,  too close to North Korea to suit me!

Larry, prayers for Pats surgery...May it go as well as the first one.  I had knee replacement twice, 13 months apart, but on the same knee.  My other knee never went bad and it has been 18 years.

Blessings to all on this Lord's Day. .... Janice
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I went to church this morning and then came home and got Pat and we went out to eat.  This was the first day for several that she has been able to stand having her shoe on or guess the bunion pain is over for awhile.  Once again I am writing on my iPad bluetooth keyboard as I have laid down to rest.  We will be off to the hospital early in the morning as the day will finally have arrived.  We are having a beautiful day here as it is about 65 degrees and bright sunshine.

Marilyn,  you might be pushing things a bit to be on your feet a lot the day after your surgery.  Hope it works out well for you and you are able to work.

Janet, it sounds like you had a very special day with your visit to your grandchildren and then with your sister.

Carol, what an unpleasant experience for Don with his hearing a that dog.  I don't think much use is made of molasses anymore.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you got out of town at the right time with the ice.

Jeanne, thanks for the devotional although it did give me pause to try to understand how the giants were food.

Janice, sure you will be glad when winter has past.  Hope you will soon be feeling better.  Thanks for your good wishes for Pat.  I am confident she will do fine.  She has great confidence in the surgeon as he is the one who fixed her knee.

Molasses...  Oh yes, I use it in several ways.  It's the main ingredient in Shoo Fly Pie (a family favorite); a tablespoon or so in a glass of milk is delicious; it makes a great sandwich with peanut butter; one of my bread recipes calls for it.  I used to buy a large size jar of Grandma's Molasses but our local grocery only carries the small 12 oz. size now.

Our electric has gone off three times - once just at midnight for only a minute, for an hour around noon and 1/2 hour just after 2:00.  There must be some heavy, wet snow on wires or tree limbs somewhere around.

I can't get the Adrian Rogers broadcasts on my cable any more, but I do get a regular email morning devotional every day of exerts from his writings.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

It has been a good 2-3 days. My trucker son came through town and we got to spend 1/2 a day together. It was so interesting at lunch to hear them talking, sons #1 and #2 (the trucker). They even with being on opposite sides of the globe almost had developed and done lots of research on a particular type of engine. So, I was "the fly on the wall", beaming as they thoroughly immersed themselves in conversation and information sharing. :)

Now, it's time to rest a few hours before seeing my own podiatrist tomorrow.

May our Lord be with both Pat and Marilyn with their respective surgeries. May the surgeons feel His guidance and knowledge strengthening them as they work on our loved ones.

Also, with a permanent hole in one of my ears, I can empathize with having hearing problems and reacting to certain frequencies that really make my ear, and subsequently my head, begin to hurt.

Thank you all for sharing "He Giveth More Grace." I love that old song.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Carol

Thank all of you for empathizing with me about the stress Don went through.  He was so exhausted and upset that he couldn't make it to church this morning - not at all like him.  We do love well-behaved dogs - this is my cousin & his wife is the one who brings the dog every year - the dog is only 8 years old so we just put up with it every year.  She also talks over her husband and we have reminded them every year that Don can't understand and that never changes either.  Anyway, I appreciate your comments.

Oh, how joyful to hear your children chatting away.

Janice:  Take care of yourself.  Nice to see you posting - now, rest well.

Janet:  It boggles my mind - we never took our dogs to other places but hired neighbor children to watch and feed them and the children learn to be good to animals too.  I felt so bad for Don because he didn't hear what was happening and was confused about when they were leaving and a few other things.

By the way, I walked into the grocery store and they had free hearing tests so I went through the process and yes, I need to think about some help myself.  One thing at a time.

Another record this morning and this is 51 people today.  The church was bursting to the brim.  Ten new visitors.  So exciting.  The quilting group reported bringing 9 new quilts to the place for women & children who have been rescued from trafficking.  Yes, an 11 year old  girl was there.  They love the quilts and anything given to them.

Jeanne Lee:  I remember the large bottles of molasses because of baking an oatmeal bread recipe years ago.  Yum - that was so good.  I added molasses and a baked sweet potato to a store bought muffin mix and it turned out really nice.  It did take extra time to bake with that all mashed together.

Larry:  Our grandson's final hockey tournament was today and his team won.  Since he is a senior, it was a great ending to all of those graduating this year.  He is also playing in Vancouver, B.C. - I think tomorrow and Omaha at the end of the week with other group.  It never seems to end.  :)  Best to you and Pat as she recovers.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We arrived at the hospital a few minutes ago and they have already taken her back for prep.  Had a good trip although there was a lot of traffic on the Interstate.  I got a really good parking place across from the elevator to get to the hospital.  I didn't bring my iPad as didn't want to hassle with it so will just use my phone.  I did bring my charger just in case.

Carol, I believe I would tell the folks with the dog that the situation is such that we can not have them visit if they bring the dog into the house.  I know this is easier said than done.  Your grandson must be very talented with hockey and you all very proud.

Jeanne, the uses of molasses you mentioned sound good.  Hope your power stays on today.

Ruth Ann, wonderful that you could spend that time with your sons.

Jeanne Lee

We didn't lose power again, but the lights began to flicker so I decided better safe than sorry and shut down the computer completely.  Now this morning the sun is shining brightly and we'll be getting a little above freezing as the day wears on - at least it's a promise of better things to come!   :D

Not much happening.  Can't remember when I posted yesterday.  But I did get to the pool yesterday and then watched a series of movies on slavery days.

Then last night we went to Joey D's for a huge sandwich.  My second cousin's wife called and asked us to drop by their house.  Really nice double-wide.
then back home.  Then it was after midnight before we made out the bed and got horizontal!!

I didn't wake up until 9:30am.  I wear earplugs when I am down here so I can sleep.  When one is used to silence, it is hard for me to sleep when there are three others snoring besides myself.... ::)

Barb says that Beall's outlet has sales on Monday so I think we will be going over there.  I got 3 swimsuits there last year!

Another bright and sunny day in Florida.

Oh, yes!  Last evening I took pictures of 7 cormorants in the trees by Kaye Don's house.

Just checking in to see if Larry's wife Pat has finished surgery and how all is going.

Larry:  Easier said than done about the dog - we had dogs for years and we do love them.  But.....

Washing and cleaning everything in site.  Grateful to be moving after another chiropractor deal - bones are feeling better and I feel better about my balance already - almost afraid to write that down.

PAT  Thank you for the quote from Biggs - much to contemplate on today.

Janet

I had to come in via the round about way again.  Wonder what happens to our email notifications sometimes?  :-\

We were to have snow--a real blizzard--today, but it missed our corner of the state again.  :(  I was looking forward to it, even if it meant being snowed in!

Prayers for Pat Hanna continue......

I have a big pot of potato soup made for supper.  I added several things to it:  some chopped broccoli, onions, cheese and corn.  Hope it is good!  (Think I should add some molasses?  Probably not!  ;) )

Boy Kristi worked me hard this morning!  Too hard, I think.  I am so sore I can barely move!  40 minutes on the treadmill at 3.5 and 4.5 MPH, then working with HEAVY weights.... :tiredtread:  Now I feel like doing this

Carol, would the cousin with the yippy dog have her feelings hurt so bad she wouldn't come see you again?  Or would she be mad?  She should consider what it does to Don, for Pete's sake!  What a frustrating situation!  I do remember your mentioning this before.

Etta Sue, now we understand why you need the ear plugs!  ;)  Don't forget that you are to REST some while you are down there!  :) 8)

I am reading a really good book on my Kindle about prayer.  See you later!

Just a quick note to let you know Pat came through the surgery well.  Am spending the night with her.  I'll write tomorrow.

Thanks Larry...  Hope you sleep well.

Talk to you in the morning.  Tell Pat we're all thinking of her and praying for her.

That storm in the midwest is heading our way.  It's supposed to hit sometime late tonight and into tomorrow, but looks like it's loosing its punch.  We may get snow, freezing rain, and/or rain, and anywhere from one to seven inches of snow - at least that's the forecast as of this morning.  Wonderful how definite and precise these forecasts are!

Janet, your potato soup (plus) is probably better off without molasses.   ;D

Larry, good to know your Pat is through the surgery and I'm sure she's glad you're staying with her.  As Pat (H) says, let her know we're all praying for her.  (That can get confusing!  :D )

Al Moak

Thank You, Father, for Your watchcare over Pat.  Now I pray for quick and joyful recovery.  Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Janet

Pat---yes.

Larry--I hope you were able to rest.  We don't want you getting too tired!  And praise God that Pat's surgery is now in the past, and prayers go upward for her supernaturally quick and pain free recovery.  What a mighty God we serve!

Jeanne, they sure do  "hit the nail on the head" don't they?  Our severe blizzard of around 12 inches of snow brought us---not one flake!  It all went to central Kansas, or at least on East of us!  Both Wichita and Kansas City got plenty!

Time to go work out again.  Tomorrow is Darrel's hernia repair surgery, but we won't know what time until we get the call later today to inform us.

God bless each of us today!  And Al, it's good to "see" you today!  :)

Jeanne Snow is melting here, sun is shining.

JAnet I will be there for soup! sounds wonderful, (without the molasses)!

Larry Keep lots of Ice on hand...that will ease the pain and swelling.  A friend just underwent her second leg knee replacement.  The ice was her biggest ally.

Hi Etta Sue!

John is heading to Solway MN.  He has venison for breakfast (sausage) and supper (sirloin steak). It was sitting frozen and was about time I used it.  He will enjoy!

Anyone into accounting?  I have a problem that this old brain isn't getting around. I will work on understanding this afternoon.

Playing on Facebook today I found Zebra Finches.  Any who want to see what they look like go to m home page!

Have a great day I'm back to accounting.

WE'RE GOING HOME TOMORROW
(Click to hear music)

Willing rather to be absent from the body,
and to be present with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:8

Words: Mrs. E. W. Griswold
Music: Philip P. Bliss (1838-1876)

We're going home, no more to roam,
No more to sin and sorrow;
No more to wear the brow of care,
We're going home tomorrow.

Refrain
We're going home, we're going home tomorrow,
We're going home, we're going home tomorrow.

For weary feet awaits a street
Of wondrous pave and golden;
For hearts that ache, the angels wake
The story, sweet and olden.

Refrain

For those who sleep, and those who weep,
Above the portals narrow,
The mansions rise beyond the skies—
We're going home tomorrow.

Refrain

Oh, joyful song! Oh, ransomed throng!
Where sin no more shall sever;
Our King to see, and, oh, to be
With Him at home forever!

Refrain

Zebra Finches

This is a copied picture off FB.  I have 10 finches that can be very noisy.  I cannot imagine the noise from these birds!

Hi everyone.  Good news on the travel front.  Pat's sister just texted me saying she was on tthe plane.  It was delayed boarding over an hour as the plane was stuck in the snow where it had been parked.  Mary stayed last night at the hotel near the airport.  I sure didn't expect she would be able to fly today. I did spend the night here as they brought in a chair that makes into a bed. I probably. Got four hours sleep last night and felt rested this morning.  After Pat had her breakfast I ate at the cafeteria and went home as hadn't brought my medicine and also needed to clean up.

On the way back I stopped at AT&T and increased my data pls to 300 Meg's as used about 60 percent of my monthly plan yesterday.  I added another 100 Meg's to my plan for $5/month.

I do not plan on staying at the hospital tonight as will need to get Mary to the house so she can get a good nights sleep.  I am sure we will come back tomorrow for the day.

Janice

Larry, happy to hear Pat came through the surgery OK.  I pray for a good outcome and she will be coming along fine with the recovery.  Nice her sister could come, I know she will be a blessing to you both.
My only sister is in hospital, in Arkansas.  (I put it that way because of growing up with 5 brothers).  Wilma has had Lupus a number of years, and has had just about every bad side effect possible with Lupus.  They thought she had a stroke, but have decided she did not.  She has low potassium and low sodium, according to her daughters.  Wish I could go see her.

We had an old time blizzard here Sunday night and Monday morning, we got 9 1/2 inches of snow out of it, but Amarillo got 19 I think it was.  I heard on the news today that a Clovis man was clearing off his driveway (or walkway) yesterday and slipped on ice, fell and hit the back of his head on the concrete.  He died later. They did not give a name yet.
A small community about 5 miles west of us got 12 inches of snow.  We have not seen anything near these amounts for a long time.

A few days ago I was watching a program on one of the Christian TV networks, and some one was interviewing a couple who are involved in producing a film called "The Bible".  The lady was Roma Downey who was in the TV show "Touched by an Angel".  I made a note of the channel and time when it will show and I thought it was only a one night program.  But today I rec'd an email from a friend about it, and it is to be a mini-series.  I copied the text of the email and will paste it here (in a separate post) in case any of you might like to see it.

This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

HEADS UP. . . A WONDERFUL NEW TELEVISION MINI-SERIES BEGINNING MARCH 3

Finally some decent television coming to a set near you. This mini-series does not begin until March 3rd but this will give all of us a chance to tell as many people as possible about this series.
Let's use this series to reach as many people as possible.

The Bible is an epic five-week, 10 hour television mini-series premiering March 3, 2013 on the History Channel from Emmy Award winning husband and wife team, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey. For two
hours each Sunday night millions of viewers will see the Bible come to life in a way never before seen. The final episode of the series will air on Easter Sunday and will feature the death and resurrection of Jesus. To help insure the accuracy of the miniseries, many Christian
scholars served as advisors and hundreds of Christian leaders have
given their endorsement. -  (Outreach Magazine) "It is also a project close to Mr. Burnett's heart. In the past couple of years the 52-year-old former paratrooper says he has become deeply religious, a transition he credits to Roma Downey, his wife since 2007. "It wasn't until I met Roma that I truly understood my faith and it's been a dynamic shift for me," Mr. Burnett said. – Wall Street Journal "

Famed television producer Mark Burnett tackles his projects with passion, but The Bible is a special labor of love.  The 10-hour, five-part docudrama, which premieres March 3 on the History Channel, will span the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, presenting some of its best-known stories, including Noah's Ark, the Exodus, Daniel in the
lions' den and the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.  Former Touched By an Angel star Roma Downey, Burnett's wife and fellow executive producer, heads a large international cast in the role of   Mother Mary. Keith David, an Emmy winner for voice-over performances, will narrate with a musical score by Oscar- and Grammy-winning
composer Hans Zimmer.  "In terms of importance, nothing we've ever  done, not Touched By an Angel, not Survivor, not The Voice, not The  Apprentice, none of this could possibly compare to The Bible," Burnett says.

"To us, as a family, we love the Bible. This is not a TV show to us. It's images and sound and sacred text that people will still  watch, way after our grandchildren are old people."  Since the entire Bible can't be covered in 10 hours, the miniseries, which was filmed in Morocco, focuses on a select group of stories and features such compelling figures as Abraham, Moses and David. Some stories had to be
compressed for artistic purposes.  "In the end, what we've done is a meta-narrative, a grand narrative of emotionally connected stories. We  know we're not qualified to teach the Bible. We're qualified to be good television producers and storytellers. By telling these emotionally connected, big stories, hopefully millions of people will reopen their Bibles," Burnett says.

Downey came up with the idea for the miniseries a few years ago. "It is our obligation to tell the stories as written," he says.
"The stories are so brilliant and compelling."  The project will have broad appeal, he says. "If you know the Bible, you'll enjoy seeing the stories come to life. If you've never read the Bible, I think you'll love the stories," he says. "There's a reason the Bible is the most widely read book in the world." - USA Today

This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

It's been wonderful hearing from each one of you this evening.

My day was spent in waiting - first for someone with a dental appointment, and then at a pharmacy.

So, I spent the rest of the day taking a long winter's nap! :)

May our Lord and Saviour be with us all today is my prayer.

BonnieA

Hello everyone.

I am feeling much, much better than I was two weeks ago, and am still planning on returning to work next Monday.

Knowing that there was a storm predicted for overnight tonight, I managed to get out and do two errands today.  That means I don't have to go out tomorrow.

Had a bit of fun on Facebook with Judy and her daughter Heather.  Heather, like me, suffered a concussion recently.  We were comparing notes on how we were feeling, and Judy got into "mother mode."  Love her to bits, and do try to listen to her wise advice.

Though I didn't make it to church on Sunday, I did go to the church for dinner and the Saturday night service.  Wonderful lesson on Psalm 23.

Glad to hear Pat's knee surgery was a success.

Janet, I hope you are feeling better.

Have a blessed week.
Search me oh God, and know my heart. Teach me and know my anxious thoughts. Look for the hurtful ways in me, and lead me in the way...everlasting.

What A Day That Will Be
(Click to hear music)

Martha answered,
"I know he will rise again
in the resurrection at the last day."
John 11:24

Words and Music: Jim Hill

There is coming a day,
When no heart aches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky,
No more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more,
On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

There'll be no sorrow there,
No more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain,
No more parting over there;
And forever I will be,
With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
