Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

We will try to post again.  I don't know what happens but I touch something when typing and poof!!  The post disappears.

We had a rainy day around noon yesterday but it ended up being a pretty nice afternoon and evening.

Today I am to call a lady that I see at the pool back in Noblesville.  She is around the corner from Kaye Don...less than a mile if you could go as the crow flies.  I am to call around 1pm and then go to her place.  Her husband won't let her drive their big truck down here but I have my car.

It is nice and sunny today.  Home?...freezing rain again and snow!  I think we have missed a nasty week of weather at home...

Thanks, Janice, for sharing about the mini-series "The Bible"  -saw the ads but like your update; very informative.

Can't wait to watch--hopefully it will come out on DVD , too, so I can watch all at my leisure and without interruptions.

My posting haven't been posting well--don't know why...

Marilyn

I haven't been on my computer much for the days I was working. Just enough to check email and look for family on Facebook. It is good to hear that Pat came through her knee surgery  in good shape. Now Larry get some much needed rest.

As for my surgery on my toes, It didn't happen, I am scheduled to go back on March 13th, If I still need the procedure it will be then and I will have some days off for the toes to recover. he did do a lot of debriding  of the callouses and thick skin around the edge of the toenail. I am not going to wear my tennis shoes  and see if just changing shoes will prevent the callous from forming. So I am now wearing the old orthopeadic shoes from a few years ago. I stopped wearing them because they are suede and kind of water stained.

Now I need to go back and read some of last week.

Hi everyone.  Good news here for us.  Pat was released from the hospital and we got home about 3 pm this afternoon.  The trip home was hard on her and especially getting out of the car.  She immediately went to bed and was asleep in probably 5 minutes.  Tonight she walked out to the table and ate the fine dinner her sister had prepared.  She now will have to concentrate on doing the exercises they showed her before she gets up and once she stands up.  I know we will all have a good nights sleep tonight and tomorrow will probably be a let down day as we can all relax.

Janice, sorry to hear your sister has had so many problems and is now in the hospital.  We are planning on recording the Bible series shows that Roma Downey and her husband.  Your blizzard sounds like what they had in Kansas City. I am still amazed my SIL was able to get out of there during a brief window when the snow had stopped.

Bonnie, that is an encouraging posting from you and glad you are feeling better.

Marilyn, sure hope the new foot treatment plan works for you.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I'm peeking in the door tonight. Am very tired, so will just say I love all of y'all, pray for those needing prayer, and hope to post more tomorrow.

Here's a little "upper" -

I'll Testify To That

Several women, each trying to one-up the other, appeared in court, each accusing the others of causing the trouble they were having in the apartment building where they lived.

The judge, with Solomon-like wisdom decreed, "Okay, I'm ready to hear the evidence...I'll hear the oldest first."

The case was dismissed for lack of testimony.

Well, our lazy, laid-back vacation is almost over.  Tomorrow we head back to the cold north!

Plans today is to go to Anna Maria's Oyster Bar and then what else, I don't know.  Barb had a blood draw this morning and this afternoon she has rehab.  I think we are all going with her and then to the restaurant.

We played Hand and Foot last evening with the neighbors and I was on the winning side!  Yay!

Janice

I am going to try to answer some individually today....easier said than done for me!

Bonnie, thank you.  Yes, I feel better now.  Those spells happen now and then, both tachycardia and bradycardia.  An EMT told me awhile back that the slow heart rate was more dangerous.  Mine has gone down to 35 several times.  And up to 163 once.

Larry, so good to hear that Pat is doing so well.  Best wishes for complete recovery soon.  My sister is still in hospital, the doctor wants her to get better enough to not be released too soon.  One daughter said that she still gets confused now and then, but is much better.

Ruth Ann, I too have a perforated ear drum.  Right side.  Completely deaf there.  I do have a hearing aid in left side, but it is not perfect...I called that my good ear and the audiologist said "Don't call it your good ear, because it is not good either."  Oh well, one day we will have perfection whereas in today's world, nothing is perfect.
I am sorry that Don has such a bad problem with his hearing.  I know how frustrating it can be.

Judy, I don't imagine I could answer your question concerning accounting, but I was a full charge bookkeeper for a number of years, and I also took a couple of classes in accounting....but have my doubts that I could give you any help.  But you are welcome to ask, OK?

Speaking of that subject, I prepared and filed my income tax return on Jan. 29th, and I just got my refund this week.  It is not much, close to $500, but anything is welcome.  Earl had WH from his two annuity checks last Jan/Feb and I had a little bit too.

Marilyn, best wishes for your upcoming toe surgery.  I have not ever had an ingrown toenail but I imagine it can give you fits.  Hope it lasts longer this time.
Your new picture, looking good!

Jeanne, thanks for the joke, about two women in court!  How funny, it made my day...first laugh I have had in awhile.

Hello to everyone who stops in today.

Janet, I meant to ask, are you able to get much reading done on your KindleFire?  You keep so busy...makes me dizzy to try to keep up with you and Etta Sue!   :)
I read a little bit, and also do some catching up on emails etc on mine.  It is not as easy typing replies there, and also here, on the KindleFire, but can at least stay put in my easy chair.  My biggest problem is the Kindle wants to anticipate what word I want to say, and if I am not careful it will put in a word I didn't ask for!  for instance, when I wanted to say y'all, it put in yakk and I didn't notice.  grrrrrr.

Joyce, thank you.  I look forward to the mini-series too, on The Bible.

Well I had heather help me with accounting.  She took the course I am on.  Where my problem is, is in applying the principles to the problem.  It is an application problem.  She didn't do the work however did teach in my learning style.  This brain is getting to old for this!  I wrote the test today, very difficult, and not enough time.  This should either make my memory better or make me realize how old I really am!!!

Now to go out into the windy cold day and get some shopping done.  Paid bills first!

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
(Click to hear music)

May I never boast except
in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 6:14

Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707. Charles Wesley reportedly said he would give up all his other hymns to have written this one.
Music: "Hamburg," Lowell Mason, 1824; first appeared in The Boston Handel and Haydn Society Collection of Church Music, third edition, 1825

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o'er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Hi everyone.  It has been a pretty quiet morning here.  We had a good night.  She walked to the dinner table last night and then back to the table for breakfast.  She then sat up in a special chair we had prepared in the family room for awhile and after getting ready for the day she has been asleep for a couple of hours this morning.  Her sister isn't feeling great today as didn't sleep well last night and has also been sleeping.  I have been moving pretty slowly this morning just attending to a few chores that needed to be done and just now finished my lunch and soon will lay down to rest this afternoon.

Ruth Ann, sure hope you were able to get a good nights sleep.  Pat and I both had good rest last night but don't think her sister did as she was attuned to her being needed.  I assured her this morning she needs not worry about that since I am right beside Pat and wake up easily and can help her during the night.  Hopefully she will sleep better tonight.

Jeanne, funny joke.  I'll have to share that with the ladies here.

Etta Sue, your vacation time sure flew by as it seems you just got there.  Hope the weather cooperates on your trip North.

Janice, glad your sister seems to be improving.  I am very fortunate in that I have great hearing and eyesight, for which I am so grateful.  You may find a setting on your Kindle telling it not to auto fill as you type.

Judy, I have an accounting degree and might be able to answer some simple questions but it has been many years since I was in school and while I worked in positions where I had an accounting department or earlier as an auditor, I have forgotten a lot of the details.  (I see that Heather was able to help you over your current accounting hurtle.)

This is a highschool accounting course, taken on line through an online school. It is a very different course to what I expected.  I received a 90% in the first assignment, there were 3 assignments before the test, however they were tough as well.

I decided to stay home and not go out into the weather.  Good choice considering how poorly the plow company clears the highway.

Janet

We are back home!  Had to spend the night in the hospital, sure didn't expect that!  But I must run now, will post in the morning, though!

Hello to all my friends "out there in computer-land." ;)

That's kinda the way the radio announcers used to greet us, isn't it.

Well, it has been a day of busyness here at the apartment with an inspection to work on any issues with the apartment itself, such as replacing the window the storms broke about 8 weeks ago, etc. Now, I'll enjoy being here more knowing it's in good repair. The staff at this apartment complex are extremely diligent about keeping things up to date. A person would have absolutely no idea the buildings were built in the late 1960s, for everything is spic n span and floors shiny, etc. It's good to rest in the knowledge they're so good at maintenance and upkeep.

Now, time to rest, watch a bit of TV, then rest, sweet rest, tonight.

May our Lord bless each of us "real good."

Ruth Ann, I sure like your expression "Rest, Sweet Rest."  That describes my hope every night as I go to bed.

We are back from staying at friend's home in Tucson for two nights and we spent a day chatting with my twin cousins.  Another cousin had us over for coffee this morning and both of us are ready to hit the hay tonight.  Our friend is having hip surgery on Monday and he has health issues - he had 7 stents for his heart several months ago.  Not worried - faithful and not fearful at all.  He really needs this hip replacement.

Janice:  Thank you for reminding us of "Bible" on the History Channel.

All of you are so busy -

Stay warm and well and please get your needed sleep.

Pat

Rest, sweet rest!

Thanks Ruth Ann.  I'm going to bed hoping I get rest, sweet rest tonight.  ;)

Same here too, Jeanne!  Time is flying for me as well!

I think we're going to go to London again to see Ross in the Palliative Care unit.  The weather is good for driving so we'll make up our minds in the next hour or two.

Praying for Nita and her whole family circle today.  (and every day!)

Darrel had his "little" umbilical hernia repair on Wednesday.  It was supposed to be just an 'in-and-out- outpatient thing, but we wound up spending all day and all night there!  He had several issues:  oxygen levels way too low, was put on 3 liters of oxygen all day, blood sugar shot up to 330 (that's MUCH higher than he's ever had before, and his heart rate was much too fast.  We didn't go prepared to spend the night, but spend the night we did!  I learned that I can sleep in my clothes, including a jacket!  And can get a few hours' sleep on a very hard sofa in a hospital room.  He seems to be having a lot more pain than expected, so is on Percoset. (Oxycontin)  The best laid plans of mice and men....    Well, he is doing all right, really, but it sure is more of an ordeal than either of us expected.

I went to a concert last night, after making sure Darrel was settled in for the evening.  It was a guy named Terry Barber, and the pianist was Billie Whittaker.  My goodness!  I had never before heard such a voice talent!!  Larry, you might google him, I was thinking about you as I listened, about how very much you would enjoy that program.  WOW!!

Darrel has had his shower, I have re-dressed his wound and got the binder back around him; now I am going to exercise!  I have to take care of myself so I can take care of him and Beth!  Need to stop by to see Beth, as she is having issues with blood in her urine--still--and the doctor wants her to see a urogolist.  The nurse called and left me a message while we were in Garden City.  Always something!

Janice--yes!  I am loving the Kindle, have read several books and have so many on it now!  They always have at least one free one I don't want to resist!  Thanks for your tips on the use of the Kindle.  One more question, for you or Larry.  When you tap a book, just to look at it and decide if that's what you want to read next, how do you get back to the home page, without that book popping back up, over and over?  I tried shutting down; doesn't work.  I know there must be a way....

I must get to exercise or I will be behind all day, again!

The birds must have their calendar marked.  The chickadees have started checking out nesting spots and were looking into the birdhouse just outside the window here by the computer.  Goody!  Time for pictures!

I ran to get my older camera that doesn't pick up the screen.  Turned it on and got the message "battery empty".  No problem, got the spares inserted, back to the window.  Turn it on again...  but no birds any more.  :(  sigh!  Lesson learned - keep the camera near the computer, recharge the batteries I removed and keep those spares right here, too.

Hi everyone.  I am writing from the car dealership where I am waiting to get my oil changed and another maintenance item done.  I am using my phone to write this morning so can't easily refer to posting since yesterday.  Pat had a good day yesterday and I can just see daily improvement.  She has not yet heard from physical therapy but will call them today as needs to get started on the program.  She is walking and getting up and down with some pain.  Mary said she was feeling some better today.  I dropped off a prescription at Kaiser before coming to get the car worked on and will pick it up after I leave here.  I also need to stop at Kroger's and Walgreens.  It is pretty cool here this morning and will remain so for the weekend.  They just told me I should be getting my car back in about 10 minutes, which is fast service.

Janet, sorry to hear of the difficulties Darrel experienced.  I can relate to your unprepared night at the hospital.  Glad Darrel was able to get home.  I don't have access to the Kindle but will try to check it out if Janice doesn't respond with the answer first.

Cartersville, Georgia, again!  We left Florida at 6:42am.  Ate breakfast at a Cracker Barrel, had a Blizzard for lunch and Chinese buffet tonight.  Traffic was superb...until we got 22 miles south of I-675 and came to a screeching halt...then not over 30 mph until we got to I-675.  Then drove the speed limit.  I went west on I-285 and west on I-20 and north on SR 6.  Moseyed through the country until we got to SR20.  I turned left and found the Chinese restaurant.  Then went back east to the Red Roof Inn.  Larry may know what I am talking about.

Tony called me when I was around Atlanta.  I told him I would call him back.  While at the restaurant, my phone was only 5% battery.  So when we got to the room, I used Ivalou's phone.  Her phone is as old as Methusela but it still works.  Mine eats the battery whether I use it or not!

Now I am ready to get horizontal and head home tomorrow.

Hey, what's this about what I heard on the radio.  Winter storm watch in northern Georgia???  Possible snow...a ½inch to an inch!!  Tell be it isn't so!!

March is one of the snowiest months in the Rockies so snow doesn't sound impossible.

I am aching all over from chiro movements today but should sleep it off.

Jeanne:  Chickadees are tied for favorites with quail for me.

We had a long chat with daughter who has to drive her son back to Minnesota this weekend.  He is a senior so all of this long distance travel to school will be over this June - they have surely put the miles on and plane miles too.  Good thing they have free tickets from all the travel our SIL spends on planes.

I put a patio table on sale and no calls and just thought if it didn't sell, the church will have a rummage sale next month so maybe someone can store it in a garage for the sale.  If not - donation.  It was left here and much too big for the little patio.

Our daughter-in-law's sister's husband is in ICU in Forth Worth - a retired fireman so we don't know the details but our son posted that we need to pray for him.

Etta Sue:  Have a safe trip home!

Janet:  I hope you have a good night for sleep and Darrel gets healing quickly.  Beth gets those infections much too often - so sorry to hear that she has another one to deal with now.

Janet

I'm enjoying a quiet Saturday morning here. n Darrel still isn't up, but need to be getting up and doing his breathing treatment soon.

Etta Sue, good to know you and Ivalou will soon be home!

Carol, hope you are feeling better this morning!

I hear water dripping on the AC unit, so it must mean the last of the snow on the roof is melting.  Send us more, please, Lord.

Hello and wishes for a wonderful day to everyone who checks in today!

Hi folks. See that we are only at 2 pages of posts this week. guess everyone must be busy this week with other things. I would like to see more posts as I enjoy reading them when I get home. Thank you to those who are faithful on this site and hope some of the others come back and take a few minutes each day or couple times a week to post and keep in touch. I'm mindful of the fact that I have had opportunity to meet and visit with folks on the road due to CP contact and am looking forward to meeting with some others who i have not had an opportunity to get together with yet. it is so nice when traveling the continent to have friends in various places who I can call and have a visit with, even if it is only a short visit in a truck stop. I see this as an opportunity to broaden our horizons and get to make more christian friends and have people that we can fellowship with. I was out in Minnesota this week and the weather was great this trip. Oh we had a little dusting of snow here and there but no accumulation. There wasnt enough to cause and difficulties with the driving. Looking forward to the spring so I can get started on the mountain of work I have to do at home here this summer. Enjoying Saturday with my girl, Judy who is sitting beside me working on her computer beside me. Boy this Hub we got is wonderful as w can now work at things at the same time on diffant units at high speed. Anyway will run for now God Bless Folks.

Hi from a chilly 37 degree area of the country and an overcast sky.  I had a busy morning as after coffee returned some frozen food that was bad to a local grocery store.  I then went to the shopping area to a drug store to get some lambs wool to protect Pat's foot and found the type that they use in the hospital to prevent sores.  I then stopped at the Belk's Women's store to get her some new slip into house slippers.  Unfortunately she isn't going to be able to use them so will have to return them and also go back to the drugstore to return the cane rubber tips I had purchased this morning as they were too big.  I have a couple more things to do later this afternoon after I rest a bit.

Etta Sue, I certainly am familiar with the Interstates that you mentioned.  Glad your drive went well and you will be home by the time you read this.  The snow in North Georgia is nothing to worry about but we make a big deal out of snowflakes down this wey.

Carol, how much longer will you be in Arizona?  Hope the man in ICU will soon be better.

Janet, as you know the breathing treatments are important.  Pat is doing them with the device they sent home.  Glad you can enjoy a quiet Saturday.

John, nice to see your posting and to know that you and Judy now have access to highspeed internet.  I marvel at all Judy did with the old dialup and not sure I would have had the patience.  I am glad you didn't need to drive into Kansas City this week as they have had 18 inches of rain.  Pat talked to her aunt in KC and she hasn't had mail delivery for 4 days.  They had a couple more inches of snow yesterday.
