Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...
Strengthened by Your Foes

BIBLE MEDITATION:

"Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not." Numbers 14:9

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

Joshua and Caleb faced formidable foes in the Promised Land, and yet what was their response to their enemies? "They are bread for us." (Numbers 14:9).

What is bread? It is the staff of life. What happens when you eat bread? You are strengthened by it and you grow by it.

Paul also faced formidable foes. He wrote, "For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries" (1 Corinthians 16:9).

Why isn't the door to victory easy? Because if it were easy, then you would become weak in your effort to work out your faith in God. God places obstacles in your path to give you strength. "Wheaties" is not the breakfast of champions— giants are. God wants you to feed upon your difficulties and depend upon Him to make you a conqueror.

ACTION POINT:
What does it take to strengthen your body? What does it take to build your intellect? What does it take to grow love in relationships? Work. Read Philippians 2:12-13 and apply it to your life today.

WELCOME HOME, JANE!!  ISN'T GOD GOOD, TO SEND A LOVELY RAINBOW, JUST FOR YOU??

This has been one mixed-up Sunday for me!  I heard at least a dozen times, "Be sure to set your clocks back tonight"......and still forgot!  :-[  So I was getting a little ticked this morning, thinking the TV schedule had all changed and none of the programs I like to watch on Sunday morning were on, then finally, the realization hit me!  DUH.  Since we took Beth to church last night, we didn't go again this morning.  I finished a book I was reading on my Kindle, then got dressed and worked on decorating my new sun room!  I am going to enjoy that little haven so much!  I bought two new chairs for it, and both are very comfortable.  I sat in the sun and read a while this afternoon, between 'decisions' of what else I want to do in there.  My blinds came yesterday, which surprised me as it hadn't been that long since I ordered them!  Lon is supposed to be back tomorrow to finish up some things, and I sure hope the replacement windows have come.

Larry, how nice that Pat was able to make a nice meal and you could have friends over.  We don't often entertain, as it seems all our friends are always busy.  We called a couple today that we sometimes do things with, and invited them out to eat, but they had their grandson there and he was sick, so that didn't work out.  I miss having close friends to do things with, but do understand everyone has their own things to do.  Hope your daughter-in-law will soon be well and back home again.  Not good for her or for your son to have the added stress.

My sister told me this week that our brother's wife is in the hospital and not doing well at all.  Always there are so many needing our prayers.

Darrel is watching the Chiefs play.  They are doing surprisingly well this year!  :)

I'm expecting some "atta girls" for this next statement.  The care home was calling me early this morning to come and work (12 hour shift!) And I didn't go!  Yea, me!

Ditto Pat's message to Janet!

Larry:  So nice that Gord called to chat with you.  He and Maureen have heavy loads of health concerns and so much pain.  It is never fair, is it?

Chatted with daughter and granddaughter tonight and daughter has an appointment (work) near us on Wednesday so she may have the afternoon free - we will change anything just to be with her if she has the time

Time to turn off the football - it is never ending, otherwise.   ;)

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful and sunny morning here in Georgia starting out at 42 degrees.  We had a very nice combined church service yesterday, communion, and then making our pledges to the church for next year.  After that we went to our fellowship hall where a Low Country Boil dinner was awaiting us.  There was a very large turnout and the food was delicious.  We did not stay to learn the Carolina Shag dance as there is no way either Pat nor I could physically stand up to it.  Today is the normal things I do on Monday.  On the positive note, I spoke with our son yesterday and his wife is doing better.  Hopefully all the test will reveal what the problem are.  He hopes she will be able to come home today. Good for you not taking a 12 hour shift.

Carol,  sure hope it works out that you can be with your daughter on Wednesday.

Jeanne, thanks for the new devotional for this week.  I haven't read it yet but will after I get home from coffee.

Janet, sure you are not the only one to forget to get back the clocks.  I realized last night that I need to change the time on the thermostat for the furnace.  I think we got everything else changed yesterday morning.  Your new room very pleasant and relaxing.  We eat out with friends a lot and find it very pleasant.  We will do that again on Thursday when the two couples we play Mexican Train with come over.

Jeanne Lee

It's a pretty day today, but Larry it looks like your starting temperature will be close to our high this afternoon.   :D  The news about your daughter-in-law sounds encouraging.  I'm continuing to pray for all your family.

Good news about the health improvement for your son's wife, Larry.  Hope it continues!  Carol, I sure know what you mean about never-ending football.  Another reason I will enjoy my new space--can't hear the TV from in there!

I have been to the gym, and just waiting till time to go to lunch.  Nothing extra on our calendar for tomorrow, but Wednesday is Darrel's checkup with his surgeon, and we have three appointments on Thursday.

Don't forget to listen to Billy Graham's message to America this week!!  I am praying it will spark another Great Awakening in our country--and the world.

I will probably check back in later.

Amazing news.  I feel so blessed - I called my youngest brother on his birthday a few minutes ago and invited him to visit.  He actually said he would try.  This is the brother who has not spoken to any of us for years.  I have called for years and never get a response but my cousin told me to keep on trying.  I am so thankful -

Praise God, Carol.  What wonderful news!

Hi everyone.  It is after 4 pm so I am late getting here today.  Yesterday I finished making about 28 CD's and went to fix the labels for them this morning and discovered I didn't have enough blank cd labels.  So I make a quick trip to Walmart but they didn't had them or went down the road to Office Deport and got them.  I came home and got busy and got them all made but didn't have time to apply them before we left.  We attended a meeting and then went to Arby's for lunch and then to a floor covering store and finally stopped and voted on a local sales tax that must be used on road, libraries and other public buildings and parks.  I voted for this, as I have in the past, as we can actually see what the tax is used for in our county.  I have rested for a couple of hours and finally getting to the computer.  It has been a beautiful fall day.

Jeanne, we haven't heard anymore from our son but follow the rule that no news is good news.

Janet, I haven't seen any advertisements for the Billy Graham program although knew it was upcoming.  Thanks for the reminder.

Carol, so happy you had a good conversation with your brother and hope it leads to a renewed relationship in your family.  We just never give up on folks.

Jeanne Lee

I voted, too, this afternoon.  Not much change in local government offices, but there were 7 propositions I wanted to be sure to vote on.  I especially wanted to throw my weight against establishment of up to seven gambling casinos in the state.  :yikes:  Not that I expect that amendment to fail, but I can always hope.

To day has been a most lovely day and I think that tomorrow is to be the same.  I will enjoy every bit because snow is on its way.

I went to the chiropractor this morning and now I am starting to be
told that things are starting to improve.

Doug came to help his dad on sunday and before he left for home we
had a nice little visit.

Judy have you gone on a long vacation,

It is getting late so bye for now.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Pat

Hi Ruth!

It was a really lovely day here in Guelph as well today.  I went to the Dr. and then to Michaels and picked up a few things there.  Then home as Phil (son-in-law) was coming for supper and staying the night here.  He's sound asleep and I'm shut up in my bedroom here reading the posts.

I don't think Judy is on a long vacation! :D  I always enjoy her phone calls and I had one yesterday I think.  ;)  I know she's doing a lot of knitting (more than I could accomplish) for Christmas presents.  Both her daughters are doing the same and I'm so proud of them.   I had a lovely visit with John down at his truck on Saturday night.  I took him some soup as he'd just come from Atlanta, Georgia and was out of food and you can't just park those huge semi's anywhere to pick up a loaf of bread (I know John could though!!!  Fantastic driver as he is).

Well, off to see the results of the elections in your fair country.  I sure don't understand the meaning of "gubernatorial" though.

Pat:  Thanks for your good night note in here with the lovely picture and song - I will hum it in my dreams tonight.

Tomorrow is bible study and I had to miss two weeks but should make it most of the time - daughter is coming for a quick visit after her meeting schedule - and we will go along with whatever time she can free herself.  She rarely has a meeting in this area as it is almost an hour drive.

Larry:  Thanks for your remark on my chatting with youngest brother.  He really thinks differently - well, we are all made to be different, aren't we?  He can be so congenial and then never call any of us - we shall see. I think he is lonely and he does have health problems now so he may be thinking more of what it is to be alone and not with family.

Jeanne Lee

Pat, "gubernatorial" refers to the office of governor of a state.

The amendment to allow establishment of gambling casinos at up to 7 locations in New York State did pass, although not by as big a margin as was expected.  In fact, there are three counties here in the northeast in one of which a casino is expected to be built and in all three of those counties the vote was slightly against.

hello friends:
I was out earlier his morning yes a chiropractor appointment, I feel that the adjustments are starting to work
but it is going to be a slow and long process.  I took a different route home and found a new to me Wal-Mart store upon asking the cashier she said it is has been there for almost a year.  Then continuing on home it started to sprinkle now I am home to stay for the day.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful fall day here in Georgia.  We had a busy morning as went to Bible study and then to Dunkin' Donut with the group and then out to lunch at Chic-fil-a.  We came home and I rested for a couple of hours while Pat went to have her massage.  We are staying home tonight.  Pat has a call from our DIL while we were at Chic-fil-a telling her she had just been released from the hospital.  Apparently they have decided the gastric by-pass is part of the problem and too much prescribed medication.  She has put on 15 pounds this week, which they wanted her to do as she was going in the wrong direction with her weight.  They have adjusted her medication again and want her to eat more.

Jeanne, at least you had a number of things to vote on and expressed your opinion with your vote whether your side won or not.  We had just one item on the ballot and the one-cent county sales tax and it passed again and I am glad.  I would think there would be a limit to the number of casinos that can be supported in the NE but perhaps not.

Ruth, glad the chiropractic treatment is beginning to show progress in how you feel.  Stacey goes to the chiropractor about twice a month.

Pat, nice that your SIL came to dine with you and spend the night.  Beautiful graphic.  In the Garden was my mother favorite hymn and we had it played at our funeral.

Carol, with your brother you are willing and it is up to him what he will do with your willingness.

Pat

Well, where in the world is everyone?

I've been to the dentist and my mouth is still all frozen up and I came to read all the posts and there's only one!!!  Thanks Larry!  (I had seen yours Ruth just before I left for the dentist).

Larry, where is Woodstock, Georgia in relation to where you live?  Is it far away?

I'm here too, Pat, but had to google the site to get here.  :(  I sure wish the email notifications would work for me...so much easier!

We went to Liberal today to see Darrel's doctor again.  He is going to have 6 weeks of therapy, once a week, starting next week, and continue the testosterone injections.  I will be happy for him when he feels like doing something other than sitting in his chair all day!  We made a Walmart run, and so are stocked up on groceries again.

Hey, everybody!  If you  haven't visited there yet this week, please go to "Our CP Family" to read the latest story!

I will talk to you all tomorrow!

Hi everyone on a cloudy but mild 61 degree morning here in Georgia.  We have showers predicted for today. This afternoon we are playing dominoes at our house and then will have a quick evening meal so that the other two couples can get home before dark, which is about 6 pm here now.  Both of the other men are over 85 years old and don't drive at night and the one couple is going by to pick up the other.  We will probably order a quick pizza or get a sub to share.  A man is coming this morning to measure our kitchen for the new floor covering.  This is a different retailer than from the first we looked at.  Pat is having a hard time deciding what she wants but they need to have the measurements on file.  That will be plenty for today.

Pat, we few who have been posting have also been wondering where the others have gone and sure would like to see some new people join in.

Janet, I will certainly be pulling for Darrel that the therapy and shots helps him to get back his energy and desire to do something as sure he doesn't like where he currently is in this health journey.  I will check out the latest story this morning.

Jeanne Lee

The rain that was falling when I woke up seems to have stopped, but as promised, now it's the temperature that's falling.  :) I guess winter is on the way.  But at least my furnace is keeping me warm and my roof doesn't leak any more and I have food on my table.  Thank you Lord!

I agree, Larry!

I was reading this morning and I really like the way  Ivor Powell handled John 3:16. See if you agree:

A Great Love - For God so loved the world,
A Great Gift - that he gave his only begotten Son,
A Great Opportunity - that whosoever believeth in him
A Great Deliverance - should not perish,
A Great Possession - but have everlasting life.

That's a great way to learn the full meaning of John 3:16.  Thanks, Pat.
