JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Sorry, Marilyn!  I jumped to that conclusion, I guess, because you said you had gotten a suitcase, etc.  Yes, Lists are very helpful!

Greetings Marilyn  We found if we have a train or plane journey to our destination, that is part of our holiday, before we start the holiday itself.  Not many holidays of late though!

Rebot

Greetings Janet  Tramadol are very addictive.  A few years ago they were placed on the list in the UK and the Isle of Man as a class C drug.

It could be I am a chatterbox!

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Splendid to see your post.   Sometimes I think some people like complaining and  at staff, when it is not the member of staff's fault.  Civility and making one's  point about a product in a pleasant way is what is needed.

Janet

Ellie, I know--that's why they will only prescribe one week's worth of Tramadol!
I certainly don't want to be addicted to any substance! Aren't they bad to constipate one, as well?  I have stool softeners, in case.  Not a pleasant subject, sorry folks.  :-[

...welcome back home, good to read you enjoyed your trip, and Florida will be your next...Yes please do just call me Jackie, everybody else does...Well apart from my late father and his mother, my gran, they both called me Jacqueline, only my gran could never pronounce my name correctly, God bless her, it was always Jake-elin...Of course I would never have the courage to correct her...

Hi Everyone. We are to have another cloudy day with it getting to 80 this afternoon.  It wasn't that warm yesterday but still comfortable to to sit out on the porch yesterday afternoon, which I did for 30 minutes or so and hope to do so again this afternoon.  I had to wash the pollen off the porch chairs.  In the past I have done that with the garden hose but can no longer get to the turn on valve.

Happy to say I had a day yesterday that I was not anxious to have it end as was feeling a 100% different than on Friday and enjoyed the day.  This is the second day in a row my blood pressure was too low to take the diuretic as was only 59 and the doctor told me it must be at least 60 or above to take it.  The main thing I have on the agenda today is to go to Church by listening to last weeks Church service online as I can visualize being there. I did watch a couple of hours of golf yesterday afternoon and then watched the first game of the Semifinal of the men's basketball game.  I didn't try to watch the second game as came on too late.  However, when I got up to have my Camomile Tea I did catch the last few minutes of it.

Janet, I keep testing my limits on the days of I better and yesterday before coming into the house walked to the mail box at the end of the short driveway  but decided that was too much by the time I got into the house and settled in my easy chair. I hope the no news from your Nurse Practitioner was good news concerning possible broken ribs. I think Pat also has the same pain medicine as you but may be wrong and tries to not take it if she can avoid it.  Yesterday she did have to take it and also used the TENS unit, which gives her relief from the back pain.  Fortunately we had some left over potato soup that we had for our supper so she didn't need to cook anything.

Marilyn, I hope those flower pots will not be too heavy for you to lift when they have the new potting soil in them.  I am sure it is not fun to travel with the CPAP machine.  Years ago, when Pat had her first CPAP and we did occasional traveling it was pretty heavy and had a big carrying case.  Our big ones are not very heavy but we would also have to carry the distilled water for the tanks that are attached.  Since we have not traveled for several years we have not had to pack them up and take them.  The last time I flew I read the requirement and it strongly suggested taking the medications in their original bottles to aid in getting through the TSA lines.  That may have changed but suggest you go online and read the current TSA guidelines.

Ellie, the pain medication Pat takes is also a controlled substance and when I picked up the prescriptions for her I have had to let them scan my driver's license and sign a special form.  It has been a few months now since I picked up her medication. I am sure customer service folks really appreciate calls from customers who are polite and pleasant to work with.

Jackie, about everyone calls my granddaughter Jenn but she will always be Jennifer to me and that is what I do and will continue to call her.

Jane, let me add my belated birthday wishes as well.  I depend on others mentioning birthdays as that is something I am not good at keeping track of.  I hope you treated yourself to something special.

Larry Hanna...
...you are the same as me...my daughter I christened as Vivienne, she has always disliked that name, and over the years she makes sure her friends call her Viv, some might call her Vivi, this is what she likes them to call her, I am sure as she is soon to be 50, she still plans on being called by Viv - Vivi...She knows I will always call her Vivienne whatever age she becomes...whether to her face or written in a card...
I liked that name then, and I still like that name now...Vivienne it will always be to me...

Larry, great news to read that you are having some better days, and even enjoying sitting outdoors for a bit.  Sunshine and fresh air are God's remedies for lots of things that ail us!  :) We have been to church, ours gets out at 11:00, as they have Sunday School and Small Groups after church.  I was glad to get home, as I got very uncomfortable before we got out.  I always think I should be all well in this length of time.  Not this time.  :-\  But soon, I hope!

Jackie, I think Vivienne is a pretty name.  But I've noticed through the years that many people, especially girls, dislike their names.  I did, for many years, then decided Janet is a good name.  It means God's gracious favor!  And is the feminine form of John, my Dad's name.

Happy Birthday, dear Jane!  :hbirthday:    :hb3:  :hb2:
Let's have a party!! (even if it's late!)

I'm hurting a lot through back and chest, think I will flop in my recliner and maybe take a little nap if I can get comfortable.

Carol

Since March we have had 8 visitors and perhaps the last left today.  They drove from Seattle and we took them for a desert hike and visited a store so she could shop for lighter slacks. Three days - Don is taking an early nap.  This is getting hard for him.  Mornings are still cool and afternoons are warming up quickly.  Quail have returned - they are my favorite sightings.

Ellie:  It sounds like you know London very well.  Still a fascinating city.  Our youngest son and daughter-in-law are scheduled to visit Scotland this summer.

Marilyn:  I hope you have a stress-free time in Hawaii and everything goes well for you.

Larry:  Always nice to see your note - I don't check anything when company is here as they always stay in "my laptop room".   ;)

Janet:  Sorry about your fall - I hope you do well in getting off the pain pills.  What a wonderful and moving experience you had at Normandy.  We didn't see any ceremony but just looking over the cliff is enough to make a person cry - what a tremendous effort for all the youngsters - bless their souls.  I don't think we teach enough about WWII in our high schools.

House is all cleaned - and this is a Sunday where we couldn't get to church because cousin stayed and stayed.  They loved the crockpot of cooked oatmeal with dried fruit in it and that is the easiest thing to make for company.

We took a drive through Phoenix to show some sites and have vowed to never even drive through that city again.  Reckless speed is all they know and they drive way over the speed limit then slam on brakes - do I sound like an old driver?

Jane Walker

Thank you all for the Birthday greetings.  I was trying to keep quiet about that. :-[  It was a very quiet day, just the way I like it.  Facebook does a great job letting everyone know, and I did receive greetings from almost all my family and certainly a huge number of friends.  Dottie called in the evening and she had her grandson there. Bladen in six and he wanted to tell "Great Grandma" Happy Birthday.  He asked if I was doing anything special for my birthday and said "You should get a cake".  So ... Janet we will have that party after all, I guess.  :) At 84 I am now the longest living female in my family.  ::) I still have a brother in Phoenix who is two years older.

I have to smile to myself whenever I'm talking with Dottie and she mentions how "old" she is.  She's the youngest of my three girls and will have her 58th birthday on Thursday.  ;D
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Jane, your comment reminded me of something my grandmother said years ago, "The strangest thing about getting old is having to sit around and listen to your KIDS complain about how old they are!" Thanks for sparking the memory, and glad you came out of your corner to say hi to us!  We miss you, you know!

Hi Everyone.  I have read all of the postings since yesterday but am only going to check in today as not feeling very good and am very tired.

Carol

Larry:  It sounds like you need a peaceful and restful day.  Take care.

Rebot:   Greetings:  Going from a London to your more quiet area must have been a refreshing change yet so different.

Belated Birthday wishes to Jane...

I counted visitors from the last 4 weeks and it is 10 - forgot two people.  Good grief.

It is going to be 90 F. today.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  We had a stormy and rainy late afternoon and evening yesterday and more rain is in the forecast for today but tomorrow and Thursday are suppose to be nice.  At least it is warm.  They had to suspend the first practice round at the Master's Tournament yesterday due to the lightning and high winds.  We have the chance of having the same situation again this afternoon and evening.  I had a very good night's sleep last night but am still tired today so am just going to check in again this morning after reading the posting from Carol yesterday.

Janet

Larry, I pray your days of feeling so tired will very often be interspersed with much better days.Remember we are here, cheering you on, loving you, and praying for you.

I was shocked when I tried to get out of bed this morning! I felt so much better yesterday.  We had to get the oil changed in the car, so went to Garden City (about 60 miles away) shopped for groceries, had lunch, then took the car to the garage.  I didn't do anything hard, but I guess all the walking around in Wal-mart was enough.  I hurt so much through my chest, a bone-deep, throbbing ache, I could barely move!
Ugh.  So the pills are being taken today, for sure!  I'll be glad when this incident becomes only a memory.

Like Larry, I'm not going to add much today.  My recliner is calling me!

We are slowly getting ready to leave for home at the end of the week.  There is one last (hopefully last) snowstorm that is coming to our driving area this week but we leave on Saturday and it should be clear.  Only one little mountain pass in New Mexico so it should be OK.

Janet:  Sounds like you should talk to your doctor just to be on the safe side.  Rest well.
I have felt like a wet noodle just from the upkeep with company and taking them to new sites.   It is fun - it is exhausting.

JudyB

Good evening folks.  I have not been able to get on to the site till this evening.  Every time I would try I would get an error message.  I will start a new page tomorrow..

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  Finally a sunny and totally cloudless day for the first major even of the Master's Tournament.  However, the weather is looking iffy towards the weekend.  Scott and the girls will be here late this afternoon and Scott will make the Taco Pie for our dinner.  One of my good coffee drinking friends stopped by yesterday afternoon and we had a nice visit.  I am still feeling very tired this morning so am just going to check in again for today and hope tomorrow will be better.

Janet

Carol, I have been to a doctor since we got home, more X-rays, no broken or cracked ribs.  Deep bone bruises, which are very painful and take a long time to heal, so am just doing what I can, and when I need to, I rest.  Hope you can do the same. Even though you're a wonderful hostess, you need to cut back on your entertaining, it is taking too much out of you!  Surely your relatives will understand (?(

Larry, enjoy your TV golf!

I'm off for Wed. painting.  The former owner of the gallery is to be there today visiting, they have invited several others, so don't know how much painting will be happening.  And if I get too tired, I can always come home!  But it's good to be with friends.
