Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.
Genesis 23:13

This godly patriarch was marked by a clear testimony before the world; his integrity shows itself here as he conducts himself with the sons of Heth and Ephron.

He would not take advantage of them  and insisted on paying a fair price for their field.

What is our main focus in life?

Do we have a sensible perception of the basics of life?

Are we people who speak and live consistent lives?

One shudders to hear of the questionable reputation of local believers in their business dealings.

If we can't convince them by our teaching, let us at least win them by our testimony.

BETTER THAN GOLD...

Better than grandeur, better than gold
Than rank and titles a thousand fold
Is a healthy body and a mind at ease
And simple pleasures that always please,
A heart that can feel for another's woe
With sympathies large enough to enfold
All men as brothers, is better than gold

Better than gold is a conscience clear
Though toiling for bread in an humble sphere
Doubly blessed with content and health
Untried by the lusts and cares of wealth
Lowly living and lofty thought
Adorn and ennoble a poor man's cot
For mind and morals in nature's plan
Are the genuine tests of a gentleman.

Better than gold is the sweet repose
Of the sons of toil when the labours close
Better than gold is the poor man's sleep
And the balm that drops on his slumbers deep
Bring sleeping draughts on the downy bed
Where luxury pillows its aching head
The toiler simple opiate deems
A shorter route to the land of dreams

Better than gold is a thinking mind
That in the realm of books can find
A treasure surpassing Australian ore
And live with the great and good of yore
The sage's lore and the poet's lay
The glories of empires passed away
The world's great dream will thus unfold
And yield a pleasure better than gold

Better than gold is a peaceful home
Where all the fireside characters come
The shrine of love, the heaven of life
Hallowed by mother, or sister, or wife
However humble the home may be
Or tried with sorrow by heaven's decree
The blessings that never were bought or sold
And centre there, are better than gold.

PAT Thank-you.  This is such an encouraging devotional to me this morning.  Surely to go to bed in peace with a good name intact, is a blessing from the Lord...... "a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold".PROV 22:1

A cold dull morning here.

My poor milkman Phil, left me a note bless him.  He broke a bottle full of milk in the entry. He cleared it up as best he could.  I have been out with the bleach solution to finish the job.  It is so nice when people admit to errors and apologise isn't it...Very unusual.

I must pop in later this afternoon to catch up with you all properly., also I have some of yesterdays posts to read.

CHRIS AND MARGIT, thanks for the "word in season".

RIA Goodmorning sister.

Pat, that is prettiful. Good morning!  How are you feeling?

Pat

Good Morning, Sonja!  I'm feeling a bit better.  I slept well.  It's a beautiful day up here in Guelph.  I'm going to be getting all of the dead flowers out of my garden today.  It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada--a family time so we'll be busy.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Sonifo

Pat, if you take a sling shot and fling a turkey leg at me, I am sure it would reach Wyoming.  Just give me the time and I will be out in the yard with a sack to catch it.  ;D

JudyB

Better still Sonifo I will pick one up from Pat and have John sling shot it to you from Colorado next week? HAHA

Yes Thanksgiving.  We have a tradition as a family that will proove interesting this year as Bonnie and Sean will be with us.  We go around the table and mention one thing we are thankful for.  It focuses the eyes on being greatful rather than greedy.

Jenny here in north america we don't have door to door delivery of milk or bread any more.  There are times I would really appreciate it as we live in the country.  I try to buy enough to last 2 weeks and save myself trips to the store.

Ria We have a good radio station here in the North Bay/Sudbury area.  It is nearly all music.  It is so nice to have on, it really is restful.  It is unusual that CRTC allows a truly "Christian" station without having all the other religions invading it.  Our southern neighbours have christian radio in nearly every community.  God has blessed them.

QuoteAre we people who speak and live consistent lives?
Do we speak and live consistant lives.  WOW Pat you are hitting spots that we need to focus on, alot lately!

John wants me to have my hair stylled and permed.  Not a frizzy perm rather a wavy one.  So that is my afternoon activitiy.  Then shopping and preparing for Sunday Dinner.

Jenny Look in your mail box I answered your email.

Bye for now
Love all

Hi Ria...  Yes, it's a beautiful day here in Guelph too.  Glad your rain stopped.

I was wondering where everyone was too! ???

Marilyn

Good Moring. Thank you Pat for the devotional, I am glad to hear you are feeling better today and getting ready for your Thanksgiving this weekend.

I am feeling better this morning even if I didn't sleep well last night, I don't know why but I was up and down at least 15 times during the night.

I will return later, I have some house cleaning to do before  I go to work. Working 6 days a week I have to take care of my own house when I get the chance.

I am sorry you are not sleeping well.  It is hard when you have to work and sleep is disturbed.  Praying for you sis.

JudyB

Ria I am glad the rain has stopped.  We have Indian Summer here, it is beautiful weather almost like summer.  It is also the last of the nice weather before the cold really sets in.  Usuall it is accompanied by a really BIG full moon.  It is so bright that farmers who have still to harvest crops can and they can see to do it.

I am going to take my camera out this weekend and take some pictures of the colour surrounding us.  As well as our thanksgiving dinner.

Bye for now

Draw Me Nearer
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Fanny J. Crosby, 1820-1915
Musician:  William H. Doane, 1832-1915

I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Refrain

Draw me nearer, nearer blessèd Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessèd Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

Refrain

O the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!

Refrain

There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.

Refrain

Karma ~ The major islands of Hawaii are Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, Kauai, Lanai and Molokai....the first four being the major tourist attractions.  So Maui and Oahu are two different islands.  My favorite is Kauai....the garden island.  Ivalou's is Hawaii...the big island.  I love everything about Hawaii.  If heaven is anything like Hawaii....I am certainly ready!!

Jen ~ Then congratulations, Jen!  If you announced it here then it went over my head.  June, hunh?  Now tell us about your man.  Curious minds want to know!

Lee ~ I can't remember the name of the town but I visited the Mexican town across the border at the southern tip of Texas and we ate in a Mexican restaurant.  I was  disappointed when the food was really bland...not much spice/heat at all.  And they served saltine crackers and salsa instead of corn chips.   ??? ???  Our Mexican TV dinners have better flavor than that meal in Mexico.

Pat ~ Sounds like you had a rough time at London...at least, last night you sounded as if you were in pain.  I am glad that this morning you are much better.  Have a happy Thanksgiving.....send white meat to me, please!

I have done a load of laundry and dried it inside since it is predicting rain today.  Right now it is partly sunny and 66°F.  Nice day.  I walked a letter to the mailbox and a lot of leaves has fallen over night.  Funny....lots of leaves in my yard....Ivalou doesn't have any in hers and then KDon has lots in his.  Weird!  I don't have anything planned for today so it will be a lazy day.

Oh, Pat, what a great song; I love it, thank you, and for our devotional, too. So ghlad your trip was safe, and that you are feeling better today! It is really nice today here, too, but we have lows in the 20s forecast for next week, Brrrr! I started a Bible study last night with some other ladies of my church called "The Purpose Driven Life," are any of you familiar with that one? It looks like it will be very informative, and helpful in my walk with the Lord. Marilyn, my friend, I sense an interesting story behind the fact that the only Russian you know are "bad words." Mieka, I, too, want you to stay, but do understand if you must leave us for a little while. Well, must get Dandy out for his noon walk, hope you all have a blessed day!
Love in Him,
Cami
Welcome to Pookybear and Emily!

Jenny

Hi Pat...
My reflexes are not working well today..........

I thought of you telling me to be careful on the main road this afternoon.

I set out to go upto the precinct on my "chariot"....The traffic was horrendous, no really it was! I waited and waited to go across to the service road and I didn't feel safe..so guess who has got to go to the precinct tomorrow instead?  DID I USE WISDOM PAT?
Yes Chris and Margit this fits with the "Jordan.........onto dry ground".

We've enough food in the house and as I went to the little shop yesterday I also have a magazine and Elmlea cream and a few extra tins for the pets, so why worry?  GOD IS GOOD.
"The stops as well as the steps are directed by the Lord".

Since you are talking of food again Etta Sue and Karmat, we are having chicken and sage and onion stuffing with roast potatoes and fresh cabbage and carrots., and of course gravy. (These were delivered by the greengrocer yesterday, a great service to me.  I telephoned the order through.) I made some little banana cakes so Chris can have some with cream if he wants dessert. Then my nice favourite, A CUP OF TEA....OR TWO CUPS OF TEA!

I am popping off now .....Hungry!

Love to you all.
Jenny.

Maria

Thank you Chris and Margit for the webpage

I wonder why you find Mexicans in Chinese places, but you never see Chinese in Mexican places, Huh?

I am here, but lurking as usual.

Pat thanks for the devotional, and the hymn Draw Me Nearer often comes to mind when I am feeling down. and yesterday was one of those days.

It is sunny and warm so beautiful, it is hard to believe that the cold days are only around the corner,  as for thanksgiving we will be going to the Erin Fair on Saturday.   The Big Turkey that most have,  never really happened at our house, as our children chose to go to the local fair instead, they also entered baking and rec'd prizes as well.

Welcome to Pookybear and Emily

Need  to start over as my message ended in that great wasteland...

Good morning and thanks Pat.  I loved the song and we used to sing it often when churches still did that sort of music.

Welcome PookyBear & Emily.

Chris, I loved your poem and also use thee & thy, etc. when praying.  When first saved, my church only used KJV Bible and we all did that...have other bibles now, but still love the old language.  Saved 'This Is The Day.'
We always used this as an opening song in Sunday School at one church.  Sort of warms the heart as well as the voice.

Ria, I hope you have a good day.  Didn't realize that Holland doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving.  Al never mentioned that.  The kids are coming and we are having turkey, brussel sprouts, cranberry sauce, with pumpkin pie for dessert.  Cholesteral Heaven!

Sorry that you are still not well Marilyn.  Will pray for you.  Not at bedtime, as also get sleepy.  Early in the morning and while out walking.  I think God hears us no matter when or where....

Have a nice day all.  God Bless, Liz.

Well I got my Cedar Chest moved from the living room to the dining area, it was under the front window and the dogs were always jumping up to look out the window and have scratched it up some. The dining area was the only other place I could put it. I had to tak most of the stuff out of it to move it by myself.

I am ready to go to work and waiting on the dryer to finish with the bedspread that covers the cedar chest.

All this talk of food has made me hungry.

Cami: my maiden name is Sheptenko and my father was born in Odessa Russia I did learn a few other words but I can't remember  them now. Can't even remember the bad ones.

Lee: Dos Vedana Does mean good bye. But it also means hello and is used as a toast like Good luck.

I do know a lot of Spanish and Italian.

Janet

It's too late to say good morning to anyone, I guess, so...HELLO!

I went swimming this morning and when I got home, Darrel was ready to srart laying the tile in the laundry room.  We had taken up the carpet and cleaned the floor last night.  Now the tile is laid, not all of it, but a strip through the middle of the room.  There is a sort of alcove where my sewing machine and a bookcase are, and we lack that, plus under the washer and dryer.  At least, everything will get cleaned again. ;)

This afternoon I think we will finish grouting in the kitchen, and seal the grout that is dry.  We are getting a little antsy to put the kitchen back together.  Lucky for us, we have another kitchen in the back, we use it for canning, so that is coming in really handy right now!

I'm sorry if I am boring you with all this.......we will be through soon, and I will have other things on my mind. ;D

WELCOME TO POOKYBEAR AND EMILY!!

Wasn't "Pooky" what Radar called his bear, on M*A*S*H?  I really enjoyed that show.  Still enjoy seeing occasional re-runs.

Pat, hope you're feeling "chipper" today!  And Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian family!!

Gotta run--more work calls!

Biblical question (If you're interested).........

What two great events happen immediately after the Rapture of the Church?   I'm asking what happens after we meet Him in the air and He takes us to the third heaven?
