Well, close your eyes when you get to the middle of the fountain, Anthony!  ::) :o  There's one similar up in Chester in your country!!!  HAHAHAHA!

Denise, anthony's message reminded me -- my mom, too, had been following this particular reporter.  when he died, Geraldo had said something about his faith in generic terms, but then she heard President Bush read his last email to his wife.  Apparently it was something to the effect of "I am at the pinnacle of my career.  But it is nothing compared to you, the girls, and my relationship with Jesus Christ."  That isn't the exact quote, but rather the gist of it.

Pat

Thanks Denise, for sharing that with us in here.  I had heard about his conversion to Christianity on one of the TV stations and I said, "Praise the Lord!"  It's so good to hear of a brother or sister being promoted to glory.

I just posted a prayer request from a woman at DPChallenge.  She posted it in the forums over there, and I brought it in here.  I am sure she would appreciate your prayers.

Pat

Thanks Karma...  I wonder if you can use DPC private IM's and give her the link to ours so that she will see the replies.

I'm sure that there will be some on our site.

I'll go now to read what you put.

Pat, you made me think then.  I haven't been to Chester for many years.  Maybe it's time for another visit.

The talk about the reporter is very interesting and wonderful to think that he is enjoying the presence of God.

I just wanted to say goodnight before I go to bed.  It has been a good day today on CP.  The fellowship has been great.  Have a good evening and I look forward to reading everyone's messages tomorrow.

Anthony.

Pat

Good night, Anthony!

The sun is shining here in Guelph still! ::)

Very thought provoking....

  • Isn't it strange how a 20 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?

  • Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

  • Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying, but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

  • Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel?

  • Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games, but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

  • Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?

  • Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others, but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?

  • Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say, but we question the words in the Bible?

  • Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven, but they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

  • Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away, but when we are going to send messages about God, we think about it twice before we share it with others?

    IT'S STRANGE ISN'T IT?

Papa John

MIEKA,  I will add my thank you too.  Thanks for sharing with us your feelings at this difficult time.

King David's baby son died.  He had fasted and prayed but the child died.  After the baby was gone he quit fasting.  His friends did not understand.  This is what he said:

2 Sam 12:22-23  "While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?  But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me".  (KJV)

One of the blessings we have as Christians is knowing we can go when our time on earth is over to be with our loved ones who have gone on before.

Well, I did go see my doctor today.  He wants me to have a Lumbar Spine MRI which is scheduled for this Friday.  In the meantime he prescribed some pain reliever and muscle relaxer.  Thanks for all the good wishes.  I'm sure everything will be all right.

--- Papa John    ;D

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Ohhh, Papa John...  What a lovely message for our dear Mieka!  Thanks!  It was a blessing to me as well.  It's still fresh in my mind about losing my darling Jack and I appreciate any verses or portions of scripture that will help me too.

Thanks!

Yes, Mieka, you've become very special to us here.  Please stay in touch as much as you are able.

Now, Papa John, about your back. . .   I'm so sorry!  I do hope that it will be better very soon.

There's a doctor up here who wrote a book called "The Back Doctor" and he was being interviewed just yesterday on the TV and he said that 98% of back surgeries aren't necessary and he's a back surgeon.  So, I hope that you're in that group!

He was my father's doctor and my father needed the surgery.

God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain.                                        Revelation 21:4

???
It is my wonder, If we will all have a house that is a prepare for us in heaven, Who will live there with us?
I want everyone in my house.

Will my family know me in Heaven? or will my new family be my family in heaven? will i ever be alone there?

karmat

Mieka, It is wild that you are asking that.  Tonight at a women's Bible Study, we got to talking about heaven, and we were wondering the same thing.  Will we have a mansion all to ourselves, or will we share it?  Or do we totally misunderstand the mansion thing??  I wish I had an answer, but fact is I don't.  Especially since I was asking the exact same thing about an hour ago. ;)

Jerry L. Sowers

Mieka ~ I understand that we will know our loved ones in heaven, but you will never be alone in heaven, Jesus will be your constant companion. You will be living in Gods house as all of us will!

Judy McKenna

Meika:  You are so sweet.  I just wish I could give you a hug!  Yes my dear friend, we WILL know one another in heaven.  It is a place where there will be no tears, no pain (I can't wait for THAT), no sorrow.

I am just thrilled to read that David Bloom knew the Lord.  He was a reporter that I truly admired; I thought he was Jewish (by the sound of his name).  If anyone knows where I could read his bio., would you pass that information on to me please?  Also, I would like to read any information about his memorial service that Pres. Bush read.

Speaking of migraines.  My mother suffered from them for many years.  One winter, she and my dad vacationed at a resort in Florida, called Keswick.  There happened to be a physician/evangelist there for the week as the special speaker.

Mom went to him after one particular morning service, really in a lot of pain.  He prayed for her, layed hands on her, and almost immediately, the headache left her, and never returned.

I could hardly believe it when I saw her.  She looked so different without that pain; she looked at least 10 years younger.

That was in 1972.  Mom lived until 1998; never again having a headache!  She gave the Lord all the credit.  He used the doctor; but the Lord healed her.  I totally believe that!

What wonderful thoughts today.  I am in awe at who all will be in Heaven.  All of my grandparents and great-grandparents that I never met.  I long to see and meet all of them but I can only imagine that I only have eyes for Jesus.

On a lighter note...we are told we will get a new body.  I have told God many times that I want a size 6 when I get to heaven... ;)

A busy day today.  I put Weed B Gone on part of my yard.  Hope it gets those nasty dandelions before the fluff ball come out and some of the clover and other weed-type growths.  Wish I could get those nasty moles as easy!

Good night to all....I will try to get on here in the morning but Ivalou has lazer on her other eye tomorrow so it may be evening before I can post.

DENISE RANEY!!!
We visit every day.  We talk about our children, grandchildren, local politics, aches and pains, sorrows, triumphs.  We discuss the Sunday sermon, our reading of scripture, a new book that touched or troubled us.  We post photographs.  We laugh a lot.  Sometimes we cry.  We make an effort to listen intently.

Our visits to CP is our holy time.  As we read each others posts and look at each others pictures, we posts our thoughts, hopes, and fears to each other and to God.  Our posts are a manifestation of Christ in the world.  Being part of the Body of Christ is not a private walk with Jesus; it is two or three people gathered together with Christ in their midst.  When we show compassion or 'listen' with love, we are expressing Christ.  We are being the church in the world.  Even though we aren't perfect and we don't have all the right answers, we experience Christs's presence in these times together.

Who needs someone to listen???!!!

Marilyn

Judy MC You keep on believing girl. God is the one who gives the wisdom and knowledge to the doctors and the ability to learn all that technical stuff they have to learn in order to be a doctor. I believe in the laying on of hands myself and the annointing with oil.

In James 5:14-15 it says"Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, annointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has comitted sins, they will be forgiven him."NAS

Such WONDERFUL messages today. I'm so thankful I was able to get here without difficulty. At times (like this morning), I finally give up because of the graphics problem I continue to have.

Oh, well, maybe I needed to return tonight to gain the peace I need to ponder some weighty matters.

Y'all have a good evening.

Thank you Marilyn, for that scripture verse! :)

I tried to add this on to my post above, but it wouldn't let me .

Marilyn - what does "NAS" stand for after that scripture verse?
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

I think the "mansion" waiting for us in Heaven is God's Presence, not a physical structure.  If, as I have understood it, there will be no weather as we know it, why do we need any kind of house?  We will be with Him, worshipping Him constantly throughout eternity.  At least that's how I visualize it.   :)

Pat, I enjoyed that lovely walk tonight.  But you know, I realized when I got home, I completely forgot to talk to you about what I had intended in the first place!  I'm sorry, but like I said, I should have a free evening tomorrow as well.  I'll see if I can't give you a call.

Well, I am very sore from running, I need to get some rest.  God bless you all.  Jen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

"Our Father which art in heaven."
--- Yes?

Don't interrupt me.  I'm praying
--- But you called me

Called you?  I didn't call you.  I'm praying.  "Our father which art in
heaven."
--- There you did it again.

Did what?
--- Called me.  You said, "Our Father which art in heaven."  Here I am.
What's on your mind?

But I didn't mean anything by it.  I was, you know, just saying my
prayers for the day.  I always say the Lord's prayer.  It makes me feel
good, kind of like getting a duty done.
--- All right.  Go on.

"Hallowed be thy name."
--- Hold it.  What do you mean by that?

By what?
--- By "Hallowed be thy name?"

It means... it means... Good grief, I don't know what it means.  How should
I know?  It's just a part of the prayer.  By the way, what does it mean?
--- It means honored, holy, wonderful.

Hey that makes sense.  I never thought about what "hallowed" meant
before.  "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven."
--- Do you really mean that?

Sure, why not?
--- What are you doing about it?

Doing?  Nothing, I guess.  I just think it would be kind of neat if you
got control of everything down here like you have up there.
--- Have I got control of you?

Well, I go to church.
--- That isn't what I asked you.  What about your temper?  You've really
got a problem there, you know.  And then there's the way you spend your
money -- all on yourself.  And what about the kinds of books you read
and what you watch on TV?

Stop picking on me!  I'm just as good as the rest of those people at church.
---Excuse me.  I though you were praying for my will to be done.  If
that is to happen, it will have to start with the ones you are praying
for it.  Like you, for example.

Oh, all right.  I guess I do have some hang-ups.  Now that you mention
it, I could probably name some others.
---So could I.

I haven't thought about it very much until now, but I'd really like to
cut out some of those things.  I would like to, you know, be really free.
--- Good.  Now we're getting somewhere.  We'll work together, you and
me.  Some victories can be truly won.  I'm proud of you.

Look, Lord, I need to finish this up here.  This is taking a lot longer
than it usually does.  "Give us this day our daily bread."
--- You could cut out the bread.  It would help you lose weight.

Hey, wait a minute!  What is this, "Criticize me day?"  Here I was doing
my religious duty, and all of a sudden you break in and remind me of all
my hang-ups.
--- Praying is a dangerous thing.  You could wind up changed, you know.
That's what I'm trying to get across to you.  Keep praying.  I'm
interested in the next part of your prayer... (Pause) Well, go on.

I'm scared to.
--- Scared?  Of what?

I know what you'll say.
--- Try me and see.

"Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us."
--- What about Ann?

See?  I knew it!  I knew you would bring her up!  Why Lord, she's told
lies about me, spread stories about my family.  She never paid back the
money she owes me.  I've sworn to get even with her?
--- But your prayer?  What about your prayer?

I didn't mean it.
--- Well, at least you're honest.  But it's not much fun carrying that
load of bitterness around inside, is it?

No.  But, I'll feel better as soon as I get even.  Boy, have I got some
plans for that neighbor.  She'll wish she had never moved into this
neighborhood.
--- You won't feel any better.  You'll feel worse.  Revenge isn't sweet.
Think of how unhappy you already are.  But, I can change all that.

You can?  How?
--- Forgive Ann.  Then I'll forgive you.  Then the hate and sin will be
Ann's problem and not yours.  You will have settled your heart.

Oh, you're right.  You always are.  And, more than I want to get revenge
against Ann, I want to be right with you.  Ann, I want to right with you...
(Pause)...(Sigh)
All right.  I forgive her.  Help her to find the right road in life,
Lord.  She's bound to be awfully miserable now that I think about it.
Anybody who goes around doing the things she does to others has to be
out of it.  Some way, some how, show her the right way.
--- There now!  Wonderful!  How do you feel?

Hmmm.  Well, not bad.  Not bad at all.  I feel pretty great.  You know,
I don't think I'll have to go to bed uptight tonight for the first time
since I can remember.  Maybe I won't be so tired from now on because I'm
not getting enough rest.
--- You're not through with your prayers.  Go on.

Oh, all right.  "And lead us not into temptation, but delivers from evil."
--- Good!  Good!  I'll do that.  Just don't put yourself in a place
where you can be tempted.

What do you mean by that?
--- Don't turn the TV when you know the laundry needs to be done and the
house needs to be picked up. Also, about the time you spend with your
friends, if you can't influence the conversation to positive things,
perhaps you should re-think the value of those friendships. Another
thing, your neighbors and friends shouldn't be your standard for
"keeping up."  And please don't use me as an escape hatch.

I don't understand that last part.
--- Sure you do.  You've done it a lot of times. You get caught in a bad
situation.  You get in trouble and then you come running to me:  "Lord,
help me out of this mess, and I promise you I'll never do it again." You
remember some of those bargains you tried to make with me?

Yes and I'm ashamed.  Lord, I really am.
--- Which bargain are you remembering?

Well, there was the night that my husband was gone and the children and
I were home alone.  The wind was blowing so hard I thought the roof
would go any minute and tornado warnings were out.  I remember saying,
"Oh God, if you spare us, I'll never skip my devotions again."
--- I protected you, but you didn't keep your promise, did you?

I'm sorry, Lord I really am.  Up until now I thought that if I just
prayed the Lord's Prayer every day, then I could do what I liked.  I
didn't expect anything to happen like this.
--- Go ahead and finish your prayer.

"For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen"
--- Do you know what would bring me glory?  What would really make me happy?

No, but I'd like to know.  I want to please you.  I can see what a mess
I've made of my life.  And I can see how great it would be to really be
one of your followers.
--- You just answered the question.

I did?
--- Yes.  The thing that would bring me glory is to have people like you
truly love me.  And I see that happening between us.  Now that some of
these old sins are exposed and out of the way, there is no telling what
we can do together.

Lord, let's see what we can make of me, OK?
--- Yes, let's see...
