JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Here is another warm, fuzzy story for you.

NO SHOES
By Roger Dean Kiser

He appeared to be very nervous as he walked through the large,
wooden church doors. His head was lowered, and his eyes looked
directly at the tile floor as he walked very slowly toward the
far back pew, away from the rest of the congregation.

The preacher immediately ceased talking and slowly lowered his
arms, which he had been flinging about during the course of the
sermon. He shifted his eyes toward the young man, as he
accidentally slid the heavy wooden church bench while trying to
quietly sit down.

The deacons and choirmaster began to whisper among themselves,
as several of the other members of the church began to turn
around and look at the unshaven figure. I had noticed when he
walked into the church that he was very thin, dirty and he was
not wearing any shoes. And he looked awfully hungry.

He constantly smiled at all the little children from the
orphanage, when we would turn around to look at him. But then
the matron slapped me on the leg because I dropped the nickel
onto the wooden bench, which the orphanage had given me to put
into the collection plate. So I did not turn around and look
at him any more. I always liked the money collection part of
the church service best because I knew that it was almost over
and we would get to go home soon.

The preacher started talking, on and on about how people
should dress up for church, and they should cut their hair and
be clean before coming to services. I knew that he was talking
about the man in the back of the church because he had long
hair, and he was not very clean looking. But the man just sat
there. He smiled and never said a word. He just sat there
raising his hands toward the church ceiling and saying out
loud "Praise the Father in Heaven", real loud like.

The older church people would look at him like he was crazy or
something, but he sure didn't look crazy to me.

The preacher finally walked off the platform and whispered
something into the deacon's ear. The deacon got up from his
chair and walked down the side isle next to the pretty,
colored glass windows, and he asked the man to leave because
he was disrupting the church service. The young man just
looked up at the deacon and smiled. Without saying a word
he rose to his feet, turned and walked toward the two large
wooden doors leading out of the church.

As he reached the doors, he once again stopped, turned
around and smiled at everyone. He reached over and picked
up the entire stack of "The Upper Room" pamphlets, which
were always sitting on the table by the entrance and he
gently turned them face down. Then he walked out the large
wooden doors.

I will never forget the kindness I saw in that man's smile.
A man with a very kind face having to leave the church that
Sunday morning because of the way he was dressed and not
clean shaven.

I never saw that man again after that, I don't think. But
he sure looked an awful lot like the man who was in the
shinny pictures in the middle of my bible.

Just a quick "fly by"--

I have been so caught up in this crazy world--a few illnesses and a couple of deaths in the family has prevented me from being here in awhile.

A hi to all and a HUGE welcome to all newcomers.

Prayers to all who have been ill and a great BIG Praise the Lord for the blessings HE has given to many here.

I am wandering to the prayer forums and maybe a quick chance to get back and read some more postings on NEM.

BIG Praise the L0rd for the peace and comfort HE provided to me in my time of need.

I sometimes wondered why HE is so good to me but then I remember HIS promises; HE will provide beyond all human understanding when I need it the most.

Blessed holiday to all.

Love in Christ,
Joyce

What Child Is This?
(Click to hear music)

Words: William C. Dix, The Manger Throne, 1865.

Music: "Greensleeves," 16th Century English melody

What Child is this who, laid to rest
On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Why lies He in such mean estate,
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christians, fear, for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading.
Nails, spear shall pierce Him through,
The cross be borne for me, for you.
Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh,
Come peasant, king to own Him;
The King of kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
Raise, raise a song on high,
The virgin sings her lullaby.
Joy, joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Bea and I had a great time out shopping and eating lunch. We wandered around in Longs drug store, where she made a few purchases.

Then we went across the parking lot to Rico's Taqueria and I had a Taco Salad and she had an enchilada plate.

Then we went to the St. Vincent DePaul thrift store where she bought some books and I spent $3.13 on two shirts and a real nice pair of black dress slacks.

I also when by Al's house to see how the move was going and to deliver a beautiful Rose Poinsetta plant for their new house from Bea and me,  as a thank you for taking us out for Thanksgiving dinner.

Congratulations Sarah.

Marilyn, you left us hanging on how Al's move is going today.  Report please. :)

Sarah, congratulations on that great score.  It sounds like you had nothing to worry about.

Mullet, sure am enjoying your cheerful postings and all those graphics.  Is your mother keeping you busy?

Joyce, glad to see you back posting and hope the illnesses are over.

Our friends, Erma and Bernard,  have been here and gone.  We had a good lunch out and then came back home and enjoyed our time together exchanging gifts, visiting and playing a few hands of bridge.  Erma had started a new medication for back pain and the side effects made it difficult for her to concentrate so we didn't play very long.  It has been a beautiful day here.

Boots

Pat, The Old Guide Book and Jeremiah 6:16 that Jack wrote those years ago is still one of my favorites.  :)

I remember writing to Jack after this one was posted (at least the first time I ever saw it) and  thanked him for it.

It brought back memories of my precious Mother and her Bible reading while she churned the butter in the big 5 gallon churn, with the wooden cross on the end of a broom like stick.  :)

Thank you so much for sharing that again with us.

Hi Boots!  Churn butter?  I didn't realize you all had to do that on your own.  Sounds interesting.

Janet~How did your luncheon go?

Boots

Sonja,  yes we had two cows while I was growing up, and sold butter to neighbors.  My Mother had a wooden cup like thing that would hold a pound of butter and when it was pressed a pretty indentation of a flower was on top of the butter. :)

Oh, what memories, Boots!  Yes, I remember you writing to Jack back then.  He really appreciated it too.

Hi Sonja!

Great marks, Sarah!

Where's Mallet?

Great to see you posting Carol.  Looking forward to seeing your photos of your trip.

Janet

Thanks for asking, Sonja.  The luncheon was really fun, and the ladies all had such a good time.

Boots, I started milking cows at the tough old age of four!  But we always had a lot more than two to milk!  Anywhere from 20 to 80 cows.  Lots of work, and so confining!  You can't get far from home when the cows have to be milked twice a day!

I remember churning butter in the one-gallon Daisy churn, many, many times!

Its nice to see all the new members.  Mullett., you put me to shame with all the "fancy stuff" you do here!  I haven't tackled nearly half of what you can do on the computer!!

Pat - I never tire reading Jack's devotions.  They are such a blessing to me each time I read them.  It would be so nice to have them all in a booklet.  Have you ever thought of having them printed?  They are so easy to understand.

I was asking my friend Ann to pray for Norm and I, telling her all about Norm's health problems.

She gave me this verse.  It means so much to me., I thought I would share it with you:

Psalm 42:11... "But O my soul don't be discouraged.  Don't be upset.  Expect God to act! For I know that I shall again have plenty of reason to praise Him for all that He will do.  He is my help! He is my God!."  and another:  Jeremiah 29:11 says " For I know the plans I have for you" says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope".

.... Judy M.
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Pat

Judy, that's so nice that Ann gave you those verses.  When Jack was ill, I was so appreciative when someone did that for me and told me that they were praying.

Those are wonderful verses too.  Print them out in large print and put them up on the edge of your monitor where you can see them often.

I'm so glad you enjoy Jack's writings.  I'll never forget that you were the last person that he visited in the hospital and he read the Bible and prayed with you.  That night he went Home to Glory.

And it's also wonderful to know now that Norm is now saved.  Jack prayed for Norm for over 35 years.

I'm here now. I had to do papers then my other papers
then watch my two sisters then go to swimming. :-\ :D
Are you misspelling again pat!!!

Fun
I am off till around 9:30.

Judy McKenna

Oh yes, Pat... how well I remember that...as if it was YESTERDAY!!!

Jack's prayers (and mine., and hoards of others) have been answered, with Norm's salvation.  How could we ever go through all we are going through without Him?

Thats why I tell people to NEVER GIVE UP., praying for a loved one to be saved.

Where is our Iain these days??

A good reminder Pat, to email those we are missing!!
