Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto His people Israel, according to all that He promised: there hath not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised.
1 Kings 8:56

So many promises are made and broken.

Hearts are devastated, relationships are severed and hurts are deep. Is this your experience today?

Then rest on the many promises given to you and me.

We have eternal salvation.

We have the promise that He is with us all through life's journey.

We have the promise that He will never leave us or forsake us.

We have the promise that He will meet every need.

We have the promise of Heaven and "Home."

Claim these promises. Lean hard upon them. Not one of them can fail.
--James Comte

Standing on the Promises
(Click to hear music)

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
2 Corinthians 1:20

Author:  R. Kelso Carter, 1849-1928
Musician:  R. Kelso Carter, 1849-1928

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I'm standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love's strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit's call
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Nice devotional Pat.  Sorry that you are not feeling well.  The virus this year is like that energizer bunny....keeps on keeping on...

The work is developing at the suite...Lots of stress and problems.  Mostly for Wendy, since I am not there.  Certain things will turn out ok...Simply have to keep our cool!

At Christmas
  (Edgar A. Guest, 1881-1959)

A man is his finest towards the finish of the year;
He is almost what he should be when the Christmas season's here;
Then he's thinking more of others than he's thought the months before,
And the laughter of his children is a joy worth toiling for.
He is less a selfish creature than at any other time;
When the Christmas spirit rules him he comes close to the sublime.

When it's Christmas man is bigger and is better in his part;
He is keener for the service that is prompted by the heart.
All the petty thoughts and narrow seem to vanish for awhile
And the true reward he's seeking is the glory of a smile.
Then for others he is toiling and somehow it seems to me
That at Christmas he is almost what God wanted him to be.

If I had to paint a picture of a man I think I'd wait
Till he'd fought his selfish battles and had put aside his hate.
I'd not catch him at his labors when his thoughts are all of self,
On the long days and the dreary when he's striving for himself.
I'd not take him when he's sneering, when he's scornful or depressed,
But I'd look for him at Christmas when he's shining at his best.

Man is ever in a struggle and he's oft misunderstood;
There are days the worst that's in him is the master of the good,
But at Christmas kindness rules him and he puts himself aside
And his petty hates are vanquished and his heart is opened wide.
Oh, I don't know how to say it, but somehow it seems to me
That at Christmas man is almost what God sent him here to be.

Enjoyed all the posts.  Wish I knew how to do graphics.  They sure are cute.

Glad you have the car windows fixed Marilyn.  Now your Christmas will be without stress....

Pleasant dreams all and God Bless.
Liz.

Liz~Wonderful poem you posted.  It is true that everyone seems to drop their burdens, hatred, and they are more forgiving at this time.  I even see it in the stores as I shop.  There are more people smiling and talking in the isles.  It is the greatest holiday.  I pray that all will see the love of Jesus the Christmas holiday.

Kathy! 30 minutes a day is a lot for someone who doesn't get on much.  I hope you can fullfill your resolution. Sounds like you have been a busy lady.  Hope your day goes well. (((hug)))

Hi everyone - just a few lines to say that i hope everyone has a happy and peace filled christmas, wherever in the world they may be.
Also a poem by G.A. Studdert Kennedy (woodbine willy) which i thought was quite nice for this time of year -

CHRISTMAS CAROL.
Come worship the King,
That little white thing,
Asleep on his mother's soft breast.
Ye bright stars, bow down,
Weave for him a crown,
Christ Jesus by angels confessed.

Come, children, and peep,
But hush ye, and creep
On tiptoe to where the Babe lies;
Then whisper his name
And lo! like a flame
The Glory light shines in his eyes.

Come, strong men, and see
This high mystery,
Tread firm where the shepherds have trod,
And watch, 'mid the hair
Of the Maiden so fair,
The five little fingers of God.

Come, old men and grey,
The star leads the way,
It halts, and your wanderings cease;
Look down on His Face,
Then, filled with His Grace,
Depart ye, God's servants, in Peace.

Love to you all from chris.

Good morning.  I will break my silence because of Mieka's message.  It is so nice to see you Miss Mieka!  Do I understand from your message that you are back or that you will be back in America soon?

Luke 2:10-11  But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy[/b] that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. (NIV)

I think during this season of the good news.  There are so many things we hear about which are not good news but bad.  However the "good news of great joy"  out weighs all the bad news.  If a package under the Christmas tree makes one happy, how much greater happiness the present in the manger.

--- Papa John    ;D          <:))))><<

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Good Morning Everyone and Papa John...

Now, PJ, do I understand that if Mieka hadn't posted you wouldn't have either?? :'( :'( :'( :'(  I sure hope not.

Thanks for your scriptural message for all of us.  I'll share about Mieka.  She's still over the Pacific Ocean and was in a hotel when she paged me.  She's maybe going to be in the USA for a short Christmas vacation and then going back to Tibet.  She's just waiting to see about whether she can do this.  Let's all pray for journeying mercies for our girl.

Hi Marilyn!  Glad to hear your car got fixed.  Praise God!

Hi Etta Sue.  How was your visit with your family?  How is your arm feeling?  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I just read three days of posts!  Whew!  You guys have been gabby!

Judy ~ To make a degree symbol, type ALT + 0176.  Like this...°.

So glad to know that Mieka has been online and is coming HOME for Christmas!

Good to see Papa John and Al posting!

I KNOW this hurting arm is from sitting here at the computer.  If I 'recline' and look at the monitor, it doesn't hurt.  But If I raise my head, it does hurt.  So I am trying to keep my chin to my chest!!!!

I went to my Urologists.  For those who don't know, I have bladder cancer.  Now I don't want a pity party!  It is 100% controllable.  Thank God for that!!!  But I have to have cystoscopies about every 3-months.  Yesterday, was the best report for months.  I had surgery two years ago next month...last of 6 surgeries so far.  That tumor was totally different from any before.  Flat like a paint splash.  It took quite a bit of scraping to remove it.  This was the first cystoscopy that didn't show redness in that area.  Dr. Beam was very pleased as I was, also.   ;D The receptionist gave me a paper to update if needed.  One of the questions was how I felt that day.  Welllllllll, I told them about my arm.  I tried to call my Family Practioner before going to Dr. Beam but he is out of the office until after the Holidays.  So Dr. Beam gave me some Celebrex.  That is helping but I still have pain.  I think I will go to my Pharmicist and see what they can tell me to do!

Just an inconvenience at this time of year and makes me angry that it won't go away!!!!

PICTURES OF BABY WILL COME WHEN I AM FEELING BETTER!!!!

I'm so sorry you're suffering with this arm, Etta Sue.  Great news though in the other department.  That's terrific to find out.

I think that over the next few days, you might find celebrex to work.  It won't work immediately.  It has to build up.  I take it twice a day.
