What calendar are you looking at?    Today is not MY birthday ... maybe there's another Jane in your life.  

Really, Jane?  I wrote your name on January 19th!  Oh, well.  I case I forget to say Happy Birthday when it is your birthday, I have already said 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!'

Hi Etta sue and Jenny: I am still here but not "HERE" my computer is running and doing some other things while I have visited with the g-kids who came to see me and we made no bake cookies (I will post the recipe) After Forest had eaten all the cany in the dish he wanted to go back home but  made him wait for some cookies to take with him.  

I have also been sewing , eating and watching TV. Right now and installing my picture it as I write here. Now on to post the recipe.

Sonja, you and I were posting at about the same time this morning and I just now saw your posting about how well Troy did in the swim meet.  Congratulations to him.  Also glad to hear that you had such a great time with your family.  The older we get the more we realize just how important our family is, at least that has been my experience.

When 12 degrees above zero feels good, you know it's been really frigid before.  

Gene went for his follow-up at the cardiologist's office this morning.  First stop was for some blood work, then into the very chilly doctor's office where the nurse weighed him, ran an EKG, asked the usual questions about how he was feeling.  Then she informed us the doctor was at the hospital and a PA would be with us "shortly".  A couple of minutes later the nurse came back - she had forgotten to take his blood pressure.

1/2 hour later we still hadn't seen any sign of a PA so I went into the hall and looked around - every other examining room was empty and no sign of a nurse, doctor, PA or whatever.  So I went to the desk and asked if we'd been forgotten.  The girl at the desk said she'd check.  The nurse came back a few minutes later and said the PA was giving a stress test but was almost finished and would be with us "shortly".  I said "What's shortly?  10 minutes?  2 minutes?  5 minutes?"  She said it would be 5 minutes at the very most.  

10 minutes later, the only sign of life was several employees going into a "staff only" room for their lunch.  By this time Gene was thoroughly chilled and his back was really painful so we decided enough was enough. He went to the desk to pay for the visit while I went to get the car and by the time he came out there still had been no sign of a PA or anyone else taking any interest in him.

So tomorrow morining I'm going to call and ask to speak to the office manager - a lovely young lady we've known since Gene's first heart attack, who is really on the ball.  Gene really needs to have the doctor look at him since he had increased one of the medications and we don't know if it was a temporary measure because of the fluid or if it's supposed to be permanent.  If permanent he has to get a revised prescription to the VA.

So that's my tale of woe for today.  The good news is that Gene is finally starting to feel much better.

Jeanne:  That is just rude and you bet the office manager and doctor needs to be told about it.  So sorry that Gene had to be the one ignored when he really needs to be seen - I hope that he is warm and comfortable tonight.  Carol

Oh,don't worry, Carol.  I intend to explain the whole thing tomorrow - but I pray I'll be able to speak as a forgiving Christian.   I don't think it's right, though, to keep an elderly patient waiting for close to an hour and I'm sure the doctor wouldn't have allowed it if he'd been there.  Once we got in the car Gene began to warm up and when he got nicely relaxed in his recliner it relieved his back.

Jeanne:  I'm saddened to think that Gene had an ordeal like that.  He is fortunate to have a loving wife like you to speak up.  What that physician's staff did was inexcusable.

Now for some good news:

Perhaps I should have this in "Praise"., but I'll tell you here:

I had my hip Xrayed this morning., and the results were excellent.  The grafting has taken so well., and the doctor said that perhaps in 3 years or so, I may not need to use the walker or even the cane!!

I am praying that the muscles and ligaments etc will continue to strengthen!

Oh yes... one other thing.  Dr. Charles Stanley is a guest on a Christian television station, about one hours drive from here., and I plan on going to see him on Wednesday!  I'm looking forward to meeting him, and purchasing one of his books.

I will ask him to autograph it for me.... I think he would do that...don't you?

I urge you all to write a letter of protest. Go to the  ABC website and click on contact ABC for the address. The email address they have posted there is bogus, I got the letter back that I emailed.

Great that you can see Charles Stanley.   Will he be on Huntley Street?  It would be good to have him autograph your book.   He's a great speaker.

hey ya'll
just got in from our game and i'm TIRED! got my ankle kinda messed up agian. it's swollen but i played on it after i rolled it so it will be alright. we won our game in Overtime! it was a good win the team we played is kinda our rivals from way back when. so it was GREAT! ttyl

Hi Everyone...

I've not been around much today but I've been doing stuff in the background that needs doing every so often.

I've also had some really sad news today.  A friend of mine who I was close to has passed away.  Her funeral is tomorrow.  She passed away yesterday but I only got the news this afternoon.  She had pancreatic cancer and it was so sad.

So, I'll be attending her funeral tomorrow.

Now, it's time to lock the door and open the topic for tomorrow.
