Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart. . . He shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until He have destroyed thee.
Deuteronomy 28:47-48

Moses was reminding the children of Israel that their behavior would either bring God's blessing or judgment.

At the forefront of the warnings was the exhortation three times to listen to the voice of the Lord and to do His commandments. Yet doing His commands was not enough--to avoid judgment one must serve the Lord with joyfulness and gladness of heart.

The Lord wants more than mere submission; He wants our willing and happy service.

Only then are we truly submitted to Him!

Give of Your Best to the Master
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Howard B. Grose, 1851-1939
Musician:  Charlotte A. Barnard, 1830-1869

Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every
heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof,
even the hallowed part thereof out of it.
Numbers 18:29

Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth.
Throw your soul's fresh, glowing ardor
Into the battle for truth.
Jesus has set the example,
Dauntless was He, young and brave.
Give Him your loyal devotion;
Give Him the best that you have.

Refrain

Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth.
Clad in salvation's full armor,
Join in the battle for truth.

Give of your best to the Master;
Give Him first place in your heart.
Give Him first place in your service;
Consecrate every part.
Give, and to you will be given;
God His beloved Son gave.
Gratefully seeking to serve Him,
Give Him the best that you have.

Refrain

Give of your best to the Master;
Naught else is worthy His love.
He gave Himself for your ransom,
Gave up His glory above.
Laid down His life without murmur,
You from sin's ruin to save.
Give Him your heart's adoration;
Give Him the best that you have.

Refrain

Pat..........

You need a system that will save, or pass forward posts that are made at the time you close.  You closed early (I know why) and boy did I lose a post.

Mary Shackelford is holding her own.  She's not in pain at this time, and as I hear more I'll post it.  Thanks for asking.

Sorry about that Lee.  There's more expensive software for forums that probably has this feature but the price was right for me for this (FREE!) so guess we just have to grin and bare it.  I try to look to see who's online just when I'm about to lock the door but tonight I was in a hurry.

Again, I'm sorry!   :'( :'( :'(

Thanks for the news of Mary.  I've been remembering her in prayer and I'm so glad that she's not in pain.

One way to do it might be to start the new thread, then wait until the next morning to lock the old one.  Just an ideeee.

Hello, all of you!
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

Check out my blog at www.bernardshuford.com.

Nita

Good morning!  A nice dry day forcast for us here.  I'm driving my daughter to her eye appointment, so that's perfect driving weather.  We're taking my grandaughter and one of her friends and staying overnight in Portland.  The last time we were there, Kim found a yummy Teriaki noodle place so looks like carbs tonight. :) I know that's not how you spell it, but I don't have my dictionary handy. :)  This should be a nice peaceful trip........2 teenager girls..haha   It'll be fun.

I just wanted to come and say hello.  It was so neat seeing Meika's nice long post, and also I was able to be with her and Jane on Yahoo for a little while the other night,  so got to enjoy her sweet humor too.  She is so funny!  :P ;D

Today we are nearer to the Lord's coming than we were yesterday.  Today, if you hear His voice, dont' harden your heart or hastily promise a later meeting, but stop and listen.  Really listen, with your whole heart.   That's what He is telling me lately.   If I am His, and I am, if I love Jesus more than anyone or anything.....do I?.....then His needs must always be the most important thing to me.   I believe that sometimes the Lord comes to us, wanting us to be in agreement with Him about something....wanting us to be with Him, to listen to Him, and intercede with Him.  This is such a mind boggling thought to me.....that God, The Holy Spirit, would come as a Friend looking for a friend.    For me....He is saying LISTEN.  And I have to reply, "Lord, you know me..you know my heart.  Please, stop me!  Teach me to hear You in the small things.  Teach me to listen when you whisper.  Master, quieten my heart so that I can hear you when you whisper my name. "

Have a blessed day in the Lord's Kingdom.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I extend a hearty welcome to WAD,  Donna and Megan.  I look forward to reading your posts as you join with us on CP.

Pat, thanks for the devotional thoughts this morning and posting the hymn "Give of Your Best to the Master".  It has been a long time since I have heard that hymn but remember singing and playing it in the church where I grew up.

Yesterday my daughter had a flat tire just a little ways from the house and called me, of course.  She was on her way to school and had a couple of tests so I let her have my car to get to class.  Later I called our Goodyear store and one of the mechanics offered to go with me and change the tire, which he did.  While he was changing the tire in our discussion he mentioned the Lord's return that could be today.  We had a very nice conversation on the subject and Nita was interested in your comments as well.

However, it turned out to be an expensive day yesterday as had to put on two new tires on her car and have the oil changed.  Will have to take it back on Friday to have them find out why a service soon light is coming on as must get it inspected and can't do it with the code showing something wrong.  So more expense.  The perils of trying to keep up three cars gets very expensive.

We are leaving in about 15 minutes to go to visit our former neighbors.  This is her 84th birthday and we are going out to eat and we are taking a special birthday cake and some flowers to her.  We will then play some bridge in the afternoon.  These have been our wonderful friends for the last almost 25 years and it is sad to see their health fail but they are still in solid mind and a joy to be around.  Tonight have choir practice so it will be a full day.  I got up early and was at the "Y" at 7 am to walk my two miles and then had coffee with my retired friends at the cafe.

Ria, sorry to see you are not feeling well and sure hope it isn't the flu.  Get lots of rest.

Nita, hope you have a wonderful trip with your daughter and granddaughter and her friend.  Sounds like a nice change of pace.

Ruthie, Judy and Pat I hope you have a wonderful worshipful day hearing Dr. Charles Stanley.  His home church is here in Atlanta and his son also has a large contemporary church in north Atlanta.  Charles Stanley is often on television here.

Marilyn, my wife and daughter often see a chiropractor and find relief from their pain.  However, it is sound advice to be sure that they know the condition of your bones before adjusting and I think most of them insist on x-rays before starting any treatments.

My fifteen minutes is up so better stop for now.

Hello everyone. How are you all doing?

Way to go, Troy!  I am so proud of you.  You rock, son!

I am a bit under the weather today.  I got the cough lila mae and Chandraya had.  It isn't as bad as theirs, thank goodness.

Not much going on today, just the usual.  We are going to start algrebra today.  I finally found a good book. Well, my mom gave me her college book.  I read some of it and it seems to be easy enough for all of us.  ;D

I am going to go eat now.

Have a good day!

Hi to all,

Sorry for your pain , Marilyn, do take care; I see so many well informed postings on what to do.

Take care,

Hey, Lee, glad to see you here.  Hope you and Viv are doing well; especially after your Hawaiian "trip".

Sorry, that you are not feeling well, Sonja, looks like you will get better when you get a very, nice , breakfast cooked by someone other than yourself!!!

Papa John, your postings are touching home--feel so refreshed in my soul whenever you post.

Nita, dear, you did it again --really reached me with your posting.

I, too, have promised to listen more closely to the LORD and  put aside the thoughts to hurry up with work and go to the LORD' s words later.

So much better when I respond to HIM immediately.

Going over to prayer forum to check on the needs of so many.

Anxiously waiting for Judy and Pat to let us know how thier experience was with Charles Stanley.

Know they were feeling good after seeing him and if he had a chance to spread the LORD's work, they will benefit ever more.

Will check back later.

Love in CHrist,
Joyce

If a  Godly Pastor makes us feel uncomfortable,
by his preaching against sin, then we should bless him for it, because it is true, never hold back any tithe or gift just because you disagree with a Man of God.
God will hold back from blessing you in this, for an unforgiving spirit stays His Hand. :D

Personal Life: Dependence on God

Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever
state I am, to be content. I know how to be abased, and I know how
to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be
full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
--Philippians 4:11-12

We can learn important lessons by considering God's disciplines in
dealing with Elijah. As Elijah fled to the wilderness following his
first confrontation with King Ahab, God said to him, "Elijah, go to
the brook Cherith, and I will feed you there." God sent big, black
buzzards--ravens, scavenger birds--each morning and evening with
Elijah's meals. What humiliation! All his life Elijah had been
self-sufficient. Now he waited on scavenger birds to deliver him
his daily bread....

Elijah was like so many faithful preachers of the Word who are too
true and too uncompromising for their congregations.

"We don't have to take that," the people protest. And they stop
contributing to the church. More than one pastor knows the meaning
of economic strangulation. Preach the truth, and the brook dries
up! But the Lord knows how to deal with each of us in our
humiliations. He takes us from truth to truth.  Men Who Met God,
96.

"Lord, I commit myself anew today to never compromise the truth,
even if it costs me my job. Amen."

Judy McKenna

Well, I guess you are all wondering how our visit went to Burlington today, to see Dr. Charles Stanley.

Unfortunately for us........ it was a TAPED segment...so, we got a good laugh out of that. Disappointing of course, as I had really looked forward to meeting him.  As soon as we walked into the Television building , I knew....there just wasn't the crowd there, that would have been there, had Dr. Stanley been the special guest.

I still enjoyed the program,...next time a special guest is booked, I'll check to be sure its not taped.
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Oh Judy how disappointing for you and Pat. I would love to see John Hagee, i would drive a long distance to see him. San Francisco is 275 miles away and I would go there if necessary.

Hi Everyone!

Here's how we saw Charles Stanley!

;D ;D  As Judy said, his segments were pre-taped but we enjoyed watching the "live" parts.  I'm glad we went.

I came home, had a further short visit with Eunice (my son's mother-in-law) and then went to lie down to see if I could get rid of a tooth ache and now I'm glad to say it's gone!

Hey, I am just now getting in here.  I have Norton installed and even Spam and Ad stopper.  When you order online, you get all kinds of rotten emails.  I got all my email addresses in my Address book.  Boy, what a job!  And I forgot to save my Fonts on the old computer.  I had a lot of neat fonts that were used with my PSP lessons.  Don't know how I can retrieve them.

Well, I am not going to stay on here much longer.  Need to rest up for my injection tomorrow.  I have had two short nights of rest in a row.  I can feel it, too!

Welcome to all the newcomers on CP.  I even lost my 'brains'...my notepad with all kinds of URLS!

Etta Sue, I hope your injection helps you.  As I said they didn't help me at all.

This morning we went to the doctor's for our yearly physical.  My doctor said it looks like I'm in good condition.  We will find out in a few days how the blood tests turn out.

I like this passage in Colossians.  It gives us some things to think about which are practical and helpful as we serve the Lord each day.

Col 3:12-15
12   Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
13   Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
14   And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15   Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
(NIV)

It is good to see each one today.  Welcome to the new comers.  We are going to our mid week services tonight.  We have a guest speaker tonight so we will be meeting in the auditorium.

--- Papa John    ;D          <:))))><<

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Last night I went to a meeting of a newly reactivated American Legion Auxiliary.  The ladies who have joined are all new to the Auxiliary and need a lot of help and information, so when I heard about them I contacted some of the state officers I've known for several years and we were able to induct the members and install the officers and get them started on the right track.  A very satisfying evening - plus I got to see three dear friends again and have a really great gabfest down memory lane.

Gene's doctor was not at all pleased to hear about what  had happened and I don't doubt that some heads will roll in that office.  But the Lord did help me be understanding, although my flesh would have loved to rant and rave about it.   ;D  Anyway, we now have another appointment for next week and I'm sure this time Gene will get full attention.

Just over in the glory land
(Click to hear music)

I've a home prepared where the saints abide
Just over in the glory land
And I long to be by my Saviour's side
Just over in the glory land

Just over in the glory land
I'll join the happy angel band
Just over in the glory land
Just over in the glory land
There with the mighty host I'll stand
Just over in the glory land

I am on my way to those mansions fair
Just over in the glory land
There to sing God's praises and his glory share
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

What a joyful thought that my Lord I'll see
Just over in the glory land
And with kindred saved, there forever be
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

With the blood washed throng I will shout and sing
Just over in the glory land
Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King
Just over in the glory land
