JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Pat, we only had to use our snowblower 3 times this winter season.  Doesn't mean we don't have the cold weather though.  Chandraya has been wanting to go sledding but everytime it snows someone gets sick.  Oh, well.  It is supposed to snow again Sunday, I think.  :-\

Karma, Oh KARMA!  I ordered a print the other day and I got it in today.
Guess whos it was?
Wow, it is beautiful!!! :o
I love it. Now I need to order a special frame for it.  I would like to hang it in my dinning room.

A little something for Travis.

I guess I will load the kids up and help Zachery with the paper routes.  I will be back in later.

I found this article, and thought it might help some of us understand, ok?

Jesus' Return Is Our Hope
"Grandpa and Grandma are coming today!" Perhaps those words thrilled our young hearts as we hurriedly dressed for breakfast. Our grandparents were wonderful. They overlooked our faults and noticed how much we had grown or praised us for how fast we could run. They enjoyed our happy stories and sympathized with our sad ones. They were full of neat surprises such as new toys or trips to the zoo. They were our heroes because grandpa fought in the war and grandma knew how to clean a chicken and make homemade bread. We were proud to be with them wherever they took us. We looked forward to their coming.

In the same way, we Christians look forward to the second coming of Jesus Christ. We have no fear of that great day because He has forgiven our sins. The only things He will notice are how much we have grown in righteousness, and how we have learned to endure the trials of life. He has already told us the words of praise we can expect: "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!" (Matt. 25:21).

We also anticipate His return because we know Him to be compassionate. He has always listened to our joys and our sorrows, but we would like to talk to Him face to face. At His coming, we will be able to do so. Jesus said, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am" (John 14:3). There He will wipe every tear from our eyes.

We also anticipate the surprises Jesus will bring with Him. He said in Rev. 22:12, "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done." He will give us a glorious crown, a white garment, and a new name (Rev. 2:10,17; 3:4). He will permit us to enter the paradise of God where the tree of life grows by the river which flows from the throne of God (Rev. 2:7). He will give us a seat of honor with Him on His throne (Rev. 3:21).

This last surprise is perhaps the greatest honor we could expect. We will be seated with the One who loved us and gave up His own life in order to save us from evil. He is our Hero, our Deliverer, and our Savior. He is the one of whom we boast. By our close association with Him, we will share in His glory. Paul said, "When Christ who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory" (Col. 3:4).

When we were young, it may have seemed it took forever for the day to come when our grandparents would arrive. Often we were ready for their arrival days before they came. Likewise, it has been a long time since Jesus promised to return, but because we so urgently hope for that day, we should be ready at all times. Jesus said, "It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. I tell you the truth, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night" (Luke 12:27-28). If you are ready, His return is your hope also. DM

Jenny

Thanks Chris

Thank you so very much, Pat, for posting that song.  It's one that's close to my heart, as we used to sing it at our Intervarsity Christian Fellowship meetings when in college.  My Anchor will hold, because HE is my Anchor.

I think it's only natural to fear a bit in anticipation of the Great Day.  We trust Him, we love Him, and we want very much to see Him and converse with Him Face to face, but we also know that the unbelievers will be screaming out for the rocks to fall on them to hide them from His Face.  Oh it is good to have longing for His coming, but it is good to be filled with awe and reverence also, for He is GOD.

Thanks Chris & Margit for posting Ps. 37:4.  I have above my desk a little plaque with that verse upon it.  Oh that I might delight in His glory so much that He would control all the desires of my heart - then it would be wonderful to have all those desires!

Sonja, Ria, and Jenny............

I cannot sit back and not quote God's holy Word regarding "When Jesus comes back".  Please do read (1 Thessalonians 4:15-18) Also, all Christians should be looking forward to His comming to gather His church.  Personally, I would love His coming to meet us in the clouds this very moment.  Remember, He said "In the twinkling of an eye."  Do you know how fast that would be?  Now, Jesus says either we are "Taken up" when we are alive, or we who are in the graves will be taken up first.  Taken up where?  Jesus says, "In the clouds to meet (Him) the Lord in the air." This is God's Word.   I also call your attention to "Oh death, where is thy sting, oh grave, where is thy victory."  Our actual death, the moment of passing from life to our heavenly home will NOT be painful, it will be glorious, and if we are in our grave before He returns for us, we won't be there for very long.

You know the very old joke, 'Why do the dead rise first?  Simply, because they have six more feet to go than those who are alive."  Yah, I know, it's an old one.

I've read where some people say they would rather not slip away into the Lord's arms quietly and without mortal pain.  Then, I've also heard others say they would rather experience the pain and suffering (some experience) because our Lord went through such a horrible and painful death (For us).  We have absolutely no control over the events leading up to our wonderful passing from this life into eternity with our Lord, so I'm simply trying to be a servant until He says it's time to come home.  Why worry about something that's in the Lord's hands, and one neither of us have any control over?

Lee Kirkwood

Chris..........

Well said Chris.  And how awesome to know that we will not only return with Him at His Second Coming, we will also rule and reign with Him for a thousand years.

Back from shopping in Crescent City. It rained all day. We saw a bunch of emergengy vehicles on the side of the road on the return home  2 ambulances, 2 fire trucks, and several highway patrol cars but no other vehicles they could have gone down the side . So we all took the time to pray for whomever was involved. It certainly made more aware of the bad weather. Sorry no photos were taken today.

I bought a few personal things that I needed and a gift for my Secret Pal, and a gift for a baby shower I am going to tomorrow night.

We had lunch at a Mexican resturant. Yummy, but I have had better. The salsa wasn't hot enough for me.  ::)

I AM going to the chiropractor on Monday morning, Al Your doctors office recommended me to one who takes medical over on Buhne. At Grace Chiropractic.

Here it is...a Friday night and I am sitting here eating a croissant with honey and drinking hot cocoa, trying to catch up on my favorite site.  Last night I went to a Ray Boltz concert !!! and it was AWESOME.  He has really been blessed with not only a wonderful voice, but being able to express his thoughts in song and in a powerfull witness.

I was truly blessed.

Got a phone call..will be back later

Work this morning, then a couple of hours working on the computer at home.  A little housework (very little  ;)) and a short nap, supper, TV game shows...  an interesting day, n'est pas? ;D  And now Gene is watching an auction of classic and restored cars.  For me that's as exciting as watching paint dry or grass grow.  :-\

Cold, blustery...  that's January in this "neck of the woods".  Only a couple of inches of snow, though - nothing like Pat and Judy Mc and all the other Guelphians got.   But it hasn't been anywhere near mild enough for Gene to go out - at least until he gets the OK from the doctor next week.  Once he gets out I'll probably have a really hard time getting him back in the house!

I'm reading one of Max Lucado's many books, "The Applause Of Heaven."

Here is a quote from it....

Max is writing that God has spoken to him and this is what God told him: "You'll go nowhere tomorrow that I have not already been."

MY RESPONSE TO THAT:
He has been there, done that.  He knows what we will be up against and He made our path smooth...well, there may be a few bumps in the road.

He has not only been there, done that, but He is waiting at the end of the road for us, and yet He was walking beside us all of the time.

There is a somebody
That can save anybody

Such a comforting thought, Fast Eddie

Max Lucado has a way with words, too.

I feel so blessed to live in this age where I've been able to take advantage of so many different Christian  saints.

Praise God for all of you!

Hi Everyone...

I managed to get my car out of the drive after finding out that the wipers quit working.  I cleaned the windows as best I could, drove to the Esso station and they took it in saying that the wipers had come "off the rod".  You guys will know what that means.

So, they took the cowling off, fiddled around and fixed the wipers.  They were putting the old arms back on with the blades attached and one of the guys was banging off the ice and snow from the one from the drivers' side and it broke!

Well, all the Saturn dealers were closed till Monday so they tried so many wipers from other vehicles that will see me through the weekend.  I think that the one they put on is from a truck or something...it sticks out sort of far but it cleans the windows.  Then I went and had supper with a friend and then went and bought a ball of wool that I needed to make a touque for my grandson and then planned on how I was going to try to get into my undug driveway.  Getting out by taking a run at it when there was no traffic coming was fine but getting in more slowly and uphill was going to be sort of difficult.

Well, as I neared my house, I could see that my drive was cleaned out completely!  My next door neighbour dug it!

Oh, I was so thankful.  The Lord sure looks after us, doesn't He?

Thanks Chris for your lovely Psalm on the photo today.  It sure blessed my heart.  Enjoyed the Grandfather story as well.  Thanks!

Nice to see you Ed.   I've sent you an IM and I'll fix your photo in your profile for you.

Hi Kathy!

Elizabeth

It is now 7:30 in the evening and I have finished reading today's posts.  Lots of rain here on the island and snow in the forcast for our weekend.  Hope they are wrong...seems they are mostly wrong when 'nice' weather predicted!

I went carpet bowling today and got my tail feathers whipped again.  Badly out of practise at the moment.  First  time back in many weeks.  Still figuring out the bus service and get Wendy to drop me at the mall when Amanda goes to school.  Also went to Wal-Mart as it is also one of my favorite spots.  Price is right!

Reading 'The Purpose Driven Life' every morning but have not started my daily program of Bible Reading.  Still trying to recover from all the stress and get back on a schedule....

Boots, I love the Elvis site!!
Larry, you are right and I will send off a letter to head office of Staples.  Will be polite but clear about what happened.

Interesting comments about being with the Lord.  I especially liked what Chris & Margit posted.  Guess most of us are a little afraid at times and need to remember that He is our dear friend.  Someone we can trust above all others...

Where is Iain?  Is he ill?  I have missed some of the posts and not clear about his absence.

Thanks Marilyn.  I will go there next.

Must close now.  God Bless and pleasant dreams.

Ruthie

I had a good time tonight reading in the area of "Songs of Worship and Psalms Studies" by Al Moak.  When I came across Psalm 100 it reminded me that my little granddaughter Sydney only 4 years old had memorized this Psalm.

Sydney is so cute and not shy as she puts her finger up and says "Know that the Lord, He is God;  It is He who has made us and not we ourselves; We are his people and the sheep of His pasture"

It is wonderful to know that the Lord, the Good Shepherd, looks after us, His sheep.

I have decided to read one of the Psalms every day under Songs of Worship and Psalms Studies and then post my thoughts.

God Bless

Love Ruthie :)

Thank you!  I hope you like it.  Maybe someday, ya'll can come and see it "live."

I will ahve to show Travis that peekaboo thing.  He has started playing that again, and laughs hysterically everytime! ;D

Hey, Ruthie!  I'm so glad that you spent some time in our "Songs of Worship" area tonight.  What a feast we have in there--studies in each of the Psalms free and at our fingertips!

I hope that many more will go in there and print them out and enjoy them along with reading the songs in their Bibles.

Well, it's that time again...time to start a new topic for tomorrow.

Any of you who are "night hawkes", please feel free to post all night if you wish.

Here's a link to our new topic...
