JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Love is of God...God is love.
1 John 4:7-8

Love!

Poets anguish for inspiration to define in words its elusive fragrance.

Songwriters weep to capture in notes its dreamy spell.

Symbols abound; the chocolates!  the hearts!  the roses!  the toasters? to give substance to its ephemeral nature.

Quietly God says, "Walk with Me to a hill called Golgotha.  See My Son dying in agony and blood.  See there in tangible form that expression of love which all the poets, songwriters and symbols combined, could never hope to define.

See there, that without doubt--God is love.

No, Christian, build on that, touch others for good, without thought of reciprocation, and your life will exemplify that love is of God.

The Love of God
(Click to hear music)

The Love of God is greater far
than tongue or pen could ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star
and reaches to the lowest hell.
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His son to win
His erring child He reconciled
and pardoned from his sin.

Chorus
Oh, Love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
the saints' and angels' song.

Could we with ink the oceans fill
and were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on Earth a quill
and every man a scribe by trade:
To write the Love of God above
would drain the oceans dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
tho stretched from sky to sky.

Chorus

When worlds of time shall pass away
and Earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray
on rocks and hills and mountains call,
God's Love so sure shall still endure
all measureless and strong,
Redeeming grace to Adam's race
the saints' and angels' song.

Thank you Pat for the devotional.   The Love of God is so wonderful.  It is hard to understand how God could love the world, but I'm glad He did.   He sent Jesus, His beloved Son, to die for mankind so that we all can have eternal life.   Because of His great love to us how can we not love Him in return and give our all to him.

My heart is breaking this evening for one of our members, TurboTech.  John was so excited about his new baby due in October and we were just speaking of it at lunch time together on another site.

Tonight the Lord had other plans for this wee one and John and Johanna are pretty sad.

Please join us in praying for this dear couple as they struggle with the news that they will not be welcoming this new little baby into their home in October.

Valentines day..........

Flowers? No, they die quickly.  A card? No, someone else wrote it and it's not of me.  Then what could I give my lovely wife that comes from my heart?  I wrote a short letter she will find by the coffee pot in the morning.......

"What can a man say to his wife on Valentines day?  The same thing he has said, and felt, every day of their marriage.........I LOVE YOU."

Question......Could any of us sit at the feet of a Bible teacher 16-hours a day, 7-days a week, for three years?  Do we have any idea as to how much that teacher could teach us, and how much he would have to say in that amount of time?  The 66 Books of the Bible don't come close to what Jesus taught His disciples.  And Judas betrayed Him?  What a wonder.

To those who welcomed me back I thank you.  To those who joined me in a good laugh at the lipstick joke, I'm pleased you enjoyed the humor.

Pat

Lee, you are a romantic!  I love what Vivian is going to find beside her coffee pot.

And I don't think I told you that I laughed so heartily at that story of the kids and their lipstick!  What a great lesson that was!

Hi Lee....that joke about the lipstick was so funny.  I'm going to tell my kids tomorrow when I see them.  My sons will get a kick out of that.

Good to see you.   Have a great day tomorrow.

Lee, somehow I missed the joke about the lipstick.  Sometimes if I miss a day, I don't make it back to all the posts.

I came in to say that I just heard on ABC that there will be a review, preview, whatever..of The Passion on Monday morning and then on Prime Time that night, Diane Sawyer will do the interview with Mel Gibson.

It's bedtime in my corner of the world, so guess I'll tuck Shadow and Katie in and go to bed myself.

  Have a blessed tomorrow.

Not a shadow can rise
Not a cloud in the skies,
but His smile quickly drives it away;
not a doubt or a fear,
not a sigh or a tear,
can abide while we trust and obey.

But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
for the favour He shows,
and the joy He bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey;
For there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.

May we here also rejoice in this Joy.

 Happy Valentine's Day

Welcome to our new members, aaronshaf and Holderjoy.

Sarah, congratulations on your basketball win last night and good luck for tonight.

Pat, what a fine devotional for Valentine's Day.  God's love for us in awesome.

Jeanne, I get the sense that if you are not a teen or in your twenties or thirties that the TV people really don't care about us.  If they did there would be some decent programs on TV.  Karma, you and Nards are wise in your TV viewing.  It if weren't for the news, sports and cooking shows I wouldn't fine much to watch on TV.

Zachery, sure glad to read your words that you are feeling better.

Etta Sue, isn't it interesting how often foods we remember being so good aren't so tasty when we have them again.  That has happened to me often.

Pat, glad you posted about clearning out your Outbox.  I was keeping the Inbox clear but didn't even realize there was an Outbox for the Instant Message feature of the software.  I deleted all of the old messages I had sent.

Our son is on his way over to do some additional work on our computer network and is going to have breakfast with us.

Hope everyone has a fine day and those of our membership that have been hurting will be feeling better.

The Holy Spirit: Confirming Signs

And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them
and confirming the word through the accompanying signs.
--Mark 16:20

Such words as these in the second chapter of Hebrews stand as a
rebuke to the unbelieving Christians of our day: "God also bearing
them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles,
and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will." A cold
Church is forced to "interpret" such language. She cannot enter into
it, so she explains it away. Not a little juggling is required, and
not a few statements for which there is not scriptural authority,
but anything will do to save face and justify our half-dead
condition. Such defensive exegesis is but a refuge for unbelieving
orthodoxy, a hiding place for a Church too weak to stand.

No one with a knowledge of the facts can deny the need for
supernatural aid in the work of world evangelization. We are so
hopelessly outclassed by the world's superior strength that for us
it means either God's help or sure defeat. The Christian who goes
out without faith in "wonders" will return without fruit. No one
dare be so rash as to seek to do impossible things unless he has
first been empowered by the God of the impossible. "The power of the
Lord was there" is our guarantee of victory.  Paths to Power, 12-13.

"May the power of the Lord be with me in my ministry today, so that
I might not be 'outclassed by the world's superior strength.' Amen."

Carol

GoodDay to all and best wishes for everyone.

We are looking forward to another wonderful service tomorrow - in a park of about 1,200 people, the attendance is over 500 and I think that speaks well for the pastor.  Since there is no real "church building" in the park here, they have the service in a main area with fold-away chairs.  This pastor comes between services at his own church just a few blocks away.  It was a real struggle to get a Christian service here as the managers wanted to keep out anything religious but the people pushed for many years and it is amazing to see the huge percentage of attendance.

We will be back home in about a month and a half - I do hope everyone is well.

Thank you, Pat, for the devotional.  It awakened a thought in my mind.  Not only is God's love far, far greater than ours, but it's also of a different kind altogether.  It infinitely outclasses ours.  He Himself defines it through His apostle John.  1 John 4:10 says, "In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."
He gave Himself to the utter rejection of His Father as our Sponsor, as One Who is counted responsible for all our sin - He Who knew no sin. THAT is love.  At least a tiny reflection of it should permeate all that we say and do.  Oh Christ, live in me.  Amen.

Yes, today is Valentines Day.  Early in our marriage, we we very poor (US Army) so we decided, together, that Valentines Day was just a commercial holiday and we would not get each other anything for the day.

We told each other that we were very much in love and didn't need some holiday to remind us of our love for each other.

Fast forward 10 or 15 yrs.....we are no longer "poor." We have four kids and buying Valentine candy for my wife and three girls would be very expensive.

My solution...go to the store on the 15th and get the boxes at half-off.  My kids all thought that this was GREAT.  Each one had their very own box of candy that they could take a bite out of a piece and put back if they didn't like it.

I did this every year till our daughters married.

Fast forward another 10 yrs or so.  Donna says to me, "Aren't you getting me anything for Valentines Day?"

I reminded her of how we agreed 35 years ago that this was just another commercial holiday, meant to make candy sales go sky-high.  So on the 15th I bought her the biggest box of candy left on the shelf.

Fast forward another few yrs....Now Donna says, "Don't you dare get me any half-off candy.  I don't need all of those calories."

I knew it would only be a matter of time till she came around to my point of view.  Neither of us needs any of those calories.

Now if I can just convince her that she doesn't need a Valentine's Cards..............

Troy made it to the finals today.  He needs to cut off 5 sec. to go to state on the 200 yard freestyle.  I sure hope he makes it.  He will be swimming at 11:00am.

Not much else going on.  Hope you all have a good day.

On a more serious note........
PAT:  You did it again.  Another of my favorite hymns.  As I listened to the music and sang the song in my heart...I began to realize just how great a change God has made in my life.  I had trouble reading the words for the tears in my eyes.

As the song says" "...tongue or pen could ever tell."  I cannot write words strong enough, nor true enough, nor complete enough to express my feelings for God for the miracle that transformed my life and my marriage.

Think about it.....if everyone one of us were a gifted author or orator.....and the ocean was a bottle of ink......all of our writings would drain the oceans and there would still be things left to say or write about the love of God.

Churches in our area are straying from singing those hymns.......see what they are missing?

Chorus's are nice, but I think these hymns that you put up on this site speak mountains more.

Thank you for the reminder every day!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, I just said "Farewell" to JudyB's mother-in-law and Bonesy's mother.  Judy dropped in on the way and I took a photos of her.   They are now driving north to North Bay and I pray that the weather stays nice for them.  There are no snow flurries here right now but you can't tell further north what it will be like.  I'll miss her a lot but we'll keep in touch I know.

It's nice to read all of the posts in here.

I'm so glad that you enjoy these hymns that I put up, Ed.  Go out and buy her a nice smoochy valentine.  That's one thing that Jack and I enjoyed doing.  And if he couldn't find one that suited what he wanted to say, he made one!  They are so special now to me. ;D ;)

I'm not going to address everyone right now.  The dog is barking to come in and I have a load of washing that is ready for the dryer and a friend is dropping by very soon.

Good morning.  Wish I could look outside and see a scene like above.

A lot of meaningful posts today.  Lovely.

Happy Valentine's Day to all.

My favorite Valentine memory isn't my own but my parents.  It came Valentine's day and Mom hadn't gotten Dad a Valentine's card.  It was terrible outside and she didn't want to get out in the weather.  So she looked around and found the card she gave Dad the previous year.  She left it where Dad would find it when he got home from work.  He opened it and thanked her for the card.  Well, for about 15 years, Dad got the same card.  Everyone knew what Mom was doing but Dad.  He would open it and read it and thank Mom for it.  He would show everyone who visited for 2 weeks afterward the Valentine that Ruby got him.  He was so pleased!!!  This Valentine had turned yellow with age.  It had a clear covering over that had grandkid kisses all over it.  If Dad knew it was an old card, he never let on.  Precious Memories.

Today is bright and sunny and hopefully some of this icy snow will melt.  It is dangerous to walk anywhere on the snow.  It is slick like an ice rink only not as smooth.
