JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Zachery, the biggest ol' hugs in the world to you, and a little smack on the cheek, too!  I LOVE my special Valentine!  You know just what I like, don't you?  What a little sweetheart you are! And I love the photo of you finding the teen room, too.  I wish all of you teens much joy and friendships along with growing in the Lord through having your very own room on CP!!  Woo-Hoo!!

I have painted and painted and painted this week!  It was fun, but I am tired.  Today was my WKPP (Western Kansas Prairie Painters) meeting, and again a long drive to it, around 90 miles each way.  Sometimes it doesn't seem worth it, but I love seeing all my painting friends from all over the area.  When I get some photos, I will show you what I have been working on this week.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ALL MY CP FRIENDS!!  My husband used to not give me anything for Valentine's day, either. (You have to train some of them, I guess.)  But this year he got me the cutest little red bear!  It has such a funny expression on its little face, I must show you a picture of it!

I'd better go take a look around and see what else has been happening here.  Then I have to go get gas, and visit my Mom, so she doesn't think I have forgotten her on Valentine's day, either.

CHRIS:  I have heard the present chorus' referred to like this, "We sing the 7 - 11 chorus' in our church.  We sing the same seven words eleven times."

Amen to that!!!

Isn't that considered "vain repetition?"

Our newest pastor said that those old hymns do not mean anything to the new people.  I told him that when I first started coming to this church, they didn't mean anything to me, either.  They grew to mean everything to me.

At least he has conceded a little anyway, we sing one hymn a week now, but not always.

The one that really could be our theme song (at least for me) is:  "And Can It Be."  Especially when.... "my chains fell off!!!!!"

Hey, Pat, ya gots that one in your baliwick?

By the way, when to I move out of the "Newbie" status?  Is it time or number of posts, because if it's number of posts, I may never make it out.   Just curious!!!

Eddie - I wondered the same thing when I was posting here.

I "think" once you reach 100 posts you are no longer a "Newbie"...LOL - Pat will correct that if I'm wrong.

Eddie - I mean't to add this... we sing the "7/11" choruses in our church too!.

...vain repitition... I like that!

I'll check for "And Can it Be?", Ed!  Post and Post and Post!  Soon, you won't be a Newbie!

TEEN ROOM

Well, as some of you have read here in New Every Morning, we've now opened up a place JUST FOR TEENS.  I guess it's starting out as an experiment but we ask one thing--no, maybe two things--of our adults on the forums.

First, we ask that you pray for our Teens.  It's difficult in today's world to live as a Christian and they need our prayer.

Secondly, we want you to notice that this area is labeled "TEEN ROOM~NO ADULTS ALLOWED!"

This is really for their safety.  We don't want any adults in there period except for the Administrators and Moderators of Christian Photographers and then maybe invited adults that they want to ask a question of or something.

It's pretty serious business on the internet having a place for teens and for new folks coming to our forums, we don't want them posting in there.  We're actually still working on the legalities which are pretty strict.

So...

In the first section of the Teen Room, you'll see this post:

    In a world where adults "rule," teenagers often have a hard time find a safe, secure place to call their own.  Here at CP, we have a section called the "TEEN ROOM."

    Please respect their need for responsibilty and ownership and refrain from posting in any of the teen sections.  It is carefully moderated, and the privacy is the foremost concern of the moderators.

    You are welcome to read, but let's let the teens do the posting!  (In the interest of safety, unsolicited posts may be deleted)
    .[/list]

    I just thought that now it's a few hours old, I'd tell you what we've been working on for over a month now behind the scenes.

    Thanks everyone.

    Well, dearhearts, I just have to comment on your mention of praise and worship in music.

    I love the old hymns.....not all of them, but many.  Some are as dry as can be, and it seems to me the Holy Spirit was no where around when they were written. :)  Just my opinion. And then there are others that have lyrics that come from a heart that knows...These move me to love God more, as they are meant to do.  Amazing Grace is my theme song.  I could sing it forever.  In The Garden.  My story.  Be Thou My Vision, I Surrender All.  Oh, so many..

    And I love the fresh worship songs that are being birthed today.    I think "vain repitition" is applicable only when it is to you. If it feels like that, I can understand why you'd tire of the song. :'(  There are times when we are loving Jesus in our singing to Him, I want to tell him over and over.    Isn't that what the song part of our church service is for?  Most of the newer songs are not written about Jesus.....they are written TO Jesus.  Have you noticed?  That's what I see anyway.  Our church does mostly newer ones, but we do sing the hymns too.

     It's all about preferences, isn't it?   I'm glad God likes all kinds of music.   ;D  I know with my daughter, Kim, who loves the Lord with all her heart, and is a singer and songwriter, the old hyms aren't very important to her.    I would imagine she is much like our Nards, Karmet, Soni, and our even younger ones.  And, oh my.......the lyrics coming from these young hearts, loving Jesus, are incredible.   I do believe it all comes down to whether the one writing the song was in love with our Jesus.  A lover's language is different.  A Jesus Lover is my kind of song writer.  In old hyms and in new songs...it's the same.

      Pat, the teen room is great.  I'm going to see if I can get Angel (14) to check it out.  And, of course, I won't go there at all out of respect for her privacy.  Who wants their gram hanging out in the teen room? haha

      Zach, you are my Valentine.  Thank you so much for my card.   :)  I've gotta get some cool pictures uploaded so that I can use them here like you do.  I like all the cute ones you have.

       I took Shadow to have her stitches removed today, and she got her last shot in the 4 in 1 series.  I'm not very popular right now, as she hates the crate.  She has too big a heart not to forgive me, though, so we'll be tight by suppertime. :)

    And Can it Be That I Should Gain[/u]
    (Click to hear music]

    Suddenly there was a great earthquake,
    so that the foundations of the prison were shaken;
    and immediately all the doors were opened
    and everyone's chains were loosed.
    Acts 19:26

    Words: Charles Wesley, Psalms and Hymns, 1738.
    Music: "Sagina," Thomas Campbell, 1835

    And can it be that I should gain
    An interest in the Savior's blood!
    Died He for me who caused His pain!
    For me who Him to death pursued?
    Amazing love! How can it be,
    That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
    Amazing love! How can it be,
    That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

    'Tis mystery all: th'Immortal dies!
    Who can explore His strange design?
    In vain the firstborn seraph tries
    To sound the depths of love divine.
    'Tis mercy all! Let earth adore;
    Let angel minds inquire no more.
    'Tis mercy all! Let earth adore;
    Let angel minds inquire no more.

    He left His Father's throne above
    (so free, so infinite His grace!),
    Emptied Himself of all but love,
    And bled for Adam's helpless race.
    'Tis mercy all, immense and free,
    For O my God, it found out me!
    'Tis mercy all, immense and free,
    For O my God, it found out me!

    Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
    Fast bound in sin and nature's night;
    Thine eye diffused a quickening ray;
    I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
    My chains fell off, my heart was free,
    I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.
    My chains fell off, my heart was free,
    I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

    No condemnation now I dread;
    Jesus, and all in Him, is mine;
    Alive in Him, my living Head,
    And clothed in righteousness divine,
    Bold I approach th'eternal throne,
    And claim the crown, through Christ my own.
    Bold I approach th'eternal throne,
    And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

    Glad you like the Teen Room, Nita.  I hope that Angel will come and check it out.  You'll have to tell her that it's very, very new still and not much activity.

    As for the singing...  I was watching a program on TV the other night and I thought I'd listen to the singing.  It was coming from somewhere in the south.  They (this group on the platform) started out singing a lovely piece that we've all heard.  It only has about 6 or 8 lines to it.  I thought to myself...  "This is really lovely!"  It was being sung quietly and reverently by the group on the platform.  I sand along with them.  Then they sang it again....and again and over and over.  In total, they sang it 16 times the same 6 or 8 lines and by the time it was finished, the drums were beating, the guitars were playing and people were standing (some of them) and some were still sitting, hands were being clapped and the music was so very, very loud and I thought that this was sheer emotionalism.

    I understand that all isn't like this but I wouldn't have enjoyed being in that auditorium that night.

    Isn't it great that we have a freedom though to come and say how we feel about this here in CP?  I personally really enjoy listening and reading and singing the very old hymns written during the Puritan times.  Most of them are doctrinally sound and that's so important in our lives.  Many of the modern hymn and song writers through the doctrine out the window and just write what they like.

    Now...  <<<<Pat gets down off her soapbox>>>>  HAHAHA!

    Let me share with you a devotional for today from The Herald of Truth:
    Arnold Palmer's Golf Club
    by Lou Seckler

    Several years ago, the great Arnold Palmer played a few golf matches in Saudi Arabia. His playing so greatly impressed the King of Saudi Arabia that, before Palmer left the country, the King told him he would like to present him with a special gift.

    "What can I offer you?" The King asked. Palmer expressed his gratitude for the offer, but said he had enjoyed his visit very much and that a special gift was unnecessary. But the King insisted, and finally Palmer gave in and said, "Alright, you can give me a golf club; that would be a really nice remembrance of your hospitality."

    The next day (so the story goes), a messenger appeared at Palmer's hotel and handed him the deed to a 300-acre golf club!

    Hannah was barren. As such, she was the laughingstock of the other women in her community. So Hannah was a prayed fervently to God for a child. In fact, Hannah made a pact with God, promising that if the Lord gave her a son, she would give him to God — meaning that she would give the child to serve at the temple of God.

    Hannah's prayer was heard, and she soon gave birth to a son, whom she named Samuel. Hannah's wish for her son was simply that he would become just a priest's helper. Instead, Samuel not only became a very important and respected prophet of God, but he was chosen to carry out crucial missions for Jehovah, serving God's spokesman for Israel. Read First and Second Samuel!

    Whenever we pray and petition the King, we may not receive what we expect. Instead, God lavishes his people with much, much more than we ask or even hope for.
    Paul opens his letter to the Ephesians by stating, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ" (Ephesians 1:3)

    We have these blessings reserved for us. All we have to do now is claim them through prayer.
    He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all — how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:32)

    Nita we also sing most of the new songs in praise and worship service. The youth do the sunday night service and are supported by the adults. we are all singing the same music in both services. Sometimes louder and other times, we have a bass guitar, electric acoustic guitar, electric lead guitar, electric durms, electrid key board and a piano. One thing I didn't know though is that we have to pay a certain amount every month in royalties for the songs we use.

    Get out!!!  I can't believe that.  Our church doesn't.

    We have drums and electric piana and a regular piano.  Someday we hope to get a guitarist.
    It is hard to believe we are a baptist church, but we are.

    I agree Pat.  I can't stand it when songs repeat the same thing over and over and over.  What on earth were they thinking when writing the song.  Gets a little boring.  I always shut my radio off when I hear a song like that.

    We just go through watching the "lion king 1 1/2"  it was pretty funny.

    Hi Nita~I love all those hymes too.  My favorite is Amazing Grace.  I sure hope your cat came around to forgiving you.  ;) :D

    Papa John~Thanks so much for the story.  I had read that before, but it is good to read it again.  Have a good night.

    Love you, Janet!  I was missing you and wondering where you went.  90 minutes each way is a long drive.  You are really putting the miles on that new car of yours.  How is little Abby doing?

    I better get off and get the kids ready for bed.

    P.s. Hi karma and Nards!

    Jeanne Lee

    I hope everyone has had a lovely Valentine's Day - it's just about over here on the east coast.  Gene gave me our traditional single red rose and I have it sitting right on top of the TV.

    We've had some lovely mild weather but tonight it's supposed to come to a screeching halt - frigid temperatures for the next three or four days.  Ah well, that's February around here.   :-\

    Old songs?  New songs?  Fast songs?  Slow songs?  What's best?  All and any of them at the right time.  I particularly love the old hymns that came from the period between 1500 and 1800, but I also appreciate some of the songs that came from the 1960s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.  I don't  think the Scripture was kidding when it said to "sing a new song!"  But many of the old hymns are appropriate too.  I would only be concerned that our singing should be to music that reflects the order and beauty of all of God's creation.  This means I am opposed to those "songs" that contain a lot of meaningless disonance and lack of harmony.  May awe and reverence before our great and holy God be the watchword. (no more soapbox today)

    Soni We do pay royalties once a month. I don't know how much per song it is, I don't think it is an outrageous amount. But  lawfully  if we didn't pay the royalties that would be like stealing. Just like  recording someone elses tapes or CD's and using them it is still stealing. The only reason I know this is because our Pastor told us about having to make those payments.

    Hi all!  Won't add to the music discussion.  All my points (both ways) have been made.   :P

    About the royalties.  I will let Bernard explain that.  He understands it better than I do.  At our last church, we bought a license that allowed us to make copies.  Without it, we were in violation of the law, and had we been caught, the pastor could have been held responsible.

    Travis is breathing some better, hopefully we won't have to go back to the dr. tomorrow.  Now, he has given it to Bernard and me.  :-\

    JudyB

    I have to responmd.  I absolutely love the Contempory Christian Music.  Michael W Smith and Carmen are my all time favourites.   In church we have a college and career sunday once every quarter.  They show us how they wordhip and we join in.  Last time there was a rap with the words on the overhead.  It was awesome.  I realize some don't think God can be worshipped this way, But if you had been there you would have seen otherwise.   Now I will get off my Soap Box.

    Mom is in her new home.  95% of the unpacking is done and she is happy.  The appartment is slightly smaller, but the common areas are larger.  The residents welcomed her and she will fit in well.  Melaura is staying with her tonight and sleeping on the couch.  This is a very good move for her, at least there is family close by for her and we will be in to see her often.  The Doctor had been pressuring her to move closer and saying if she didn't he would have her go to a nursing home.  This way she is able to maintain her independence for a while longer.  I must say though we are tired.

    Well I am off to bed.  Be praying for Bonnie as she is going through a very rough time right now.

    Night all, Happy belated Valentines Day,
    Love to all

    Nards where are you? Help in explaining the royalties. I also would like to know more about them.

    I can't listen to music while I am reading either, 'cause I sing too.  ;D

    I grew up listening to Italian Opera at home. My step dad was an opera fan. he also sang in a local group. But he sag regular music. Like 40's style of music, alsthough we did practice the Christmas Carols together when I was in the School glee club. And the church girls choir at Catholic church we sang in Latin

    However when moms family got together it was all southern music, and string insturments with piano too.
