JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

      Morning Devotional...

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
      Psalm 51:10

The Lord spoke these words to me 18 years ago and they changed my life forever. I had lived as a stranger to grace and to God for 25 years. Drinking, swearing with no thought of God or my eternal destiny.

The last words that my father spoke to me on his sick bed in hospital were these, "I'll be all right in the morning". I thought that he meant that he would be better physically the next day.

My father died at 00.25! He knew where he was going and he knew that all would be well with him in the morning.

For me it was a devastating blow. I loved my father and we had had a wonderful relationship although he had been very strict with me in my earlier years.

His death started me thinking about where he had gone and what happened to us after death. I had not been in church for years, however when it was announced that there would be special evangelistic meeting to be held in Garrabost church, I decided that I would attend.

I was only able to attend the one meeting. It was not the one that I had intended to go to, however it would do! I never heard much of the service that the minister preached, however when he read out the words of the final Psalm, I heard not the preachers' voice but God's.

I went home, told my mother that I was going up to my room to read my Bible. I read and read, day after day simply because this Book was alive and I was hungry for the Bread of Life. I found peace with God six months later, but that is another story. I can honestly say today, that I love my Lord more today than I ever did.

I commend this same Jesus to you today, He is my best friend.

God's grace is new every morning!

I know without a doubt that God is directing in the lives of His children.  He gives us His light and if we will open our eyes we will find His direction.

I too have lost parents and await the day when I will be with them and the Lord.  I thank God for my parents who, though they were not perfect, taught me from a young child to love the Lord and taught me His Words and His ways, setting my feet early on the right path.  And like them, I am not perfect either, so I need to each day go to Him for a clean heart and to experience His grace and mercies new each day.

Well, well, Nards!  Perhaps this will make you more holey!  Hope you don't fall in.

I bent over and strained forward too far the other day, and now I have to go to the chiropractor today.  Pray for me - I'm ouching.

      Etta Sue

I am hoping that today will be my last doctor appointment for awhile.  Since the new year, I have had an x-ray, MRI, injection in my neck under anestetic, eyes examined, mammogram, endoscopy under anestetic, yearly physical, blood draws, dental exam and today I go to my Urologists to see if any cancerous turmors are growing in my bladder.  After today, I ought to be squeaky clean!!!  Thank God for insurance.

I tried to read all the posts but I suddenly saw that I was running out of time...so skimmed real fast near the end....sorry!!!

I didn't get to respond to all of the animal talk yesterday, so I'll offer this today:

Remember the Irish Folk song that went like this:  "Green alligators and long-necked geese, some humpty-backed camel and some chimpanzes...."

Remember that the Unicorn was off somewhere smelling the roses?  And that it misses boarding the Ark.

My question is this:  Why did Noah bring those two mosquito's on board?  Why couldn't they have been biting the Unicorn and thus missed the Ark?

As for animals being Heaven...of this I'm sure: we are told that our mind cannot conceive what is in store for us in Heaven.  And that there not be any crying...so if we do or don't see our favorite pets, it won't matter.

Of those gray areas in the Bible where there doesn't seem to be clear cut direction, I believe in the "Pan Theory"

In the end, it will all pan out.   However, I like to think that Casey (our cocker spanial) will be there to greet me.

Pastoral Ministry: We Languish for Men

Then Paul answered, "What do you mean by weeping and breaking my
heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at
Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."
      --Acts 21:13

The Church at this moment needs men, the right kind of men,
      bold men....

We languish for men who feel themselves expendable in the warfare
of the soul, who cannot be frightened by threats of death because
they have already died to the allurements of this world. Such men
will be free from the compulsions that control weaker men. They
      will not be forced to do things by the squeeze of circumstances;
their only compulsion will come from within--or from above.

This kind of freedom is necessary if we are to have prophets in
our pulpits again instead of mascots. These free men will serve
God and mankind from motives too high to be understood by the rank
and file of religious retainers who today shuttle in and out of
the sanctuary. They will make no decisions out of fear, take no
course out of a desire to please, accept no service for financial
considerations, perform no religious act out of mere custom; nor
will they allow themselves to be influenced by the love of
publicity or the desire for reputation. Of God and Men, 11-13.

"Lord, what would it take for me to be that kind of man? Do in me
whatever work You need to do today, that I might die to the
allurements of the world and serve You with high motives. Amen."

Al I understand the ouchies. :o

This is another bright sunny morning.  minus 11*C though so a cold day.

I   Have to take John to work today, and then is Air cadets and AWANA this evening for the girls.  They are working through their books quiskly.  Hiding the word.

Etta Sue How are the cats doing?  We have 2 and they are killers.  They have killed all the fish in Melaura's fish tank.  I realize that is their nature but when we raise babies to adulthood only to have them killed it is a little hard to take.  We wvwn put a lid and a heavy weight on top of the aquarium. :'(
Well we will try again later this week with more babies, and we will have a different lid, and see if that works. ??? ???

We had Lords Supper yesterday, and from there into an awesome sermon on the salvation story.  It is so good to be reminded of how we received our salvation.  I do so enjoy listening to Pastor Dennis, He is more than a pastor he is very definately a friend.  His mother was out in the morning, she has a severe case of cancer and has been given 4 - 6 months to live.  As he said yesterday the more often she is able to get out to church the longer she will be with us.  She refused cancer treatment, as it would extend her life but reduce her quality of life.  She chose quality over quantity.  She is in her late 70's early 80's.

Well I need to get ready for my chiropractors appointment.

Bye for my chiropractors appointment and I am slow these days.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ASKED FOR THIS LOVE STORY.

Margit and I met when she came across my scripture website.  She was new to the wide world of the web and curious as to what a website was; when AOL announced that they had chosen winners for the "Christian Website of the Month" she saw that as a way to still her curiosity.  She liked what she saw in the first two of AOL's choices and somehow could not find rest until she had contacted the author of the second site.
She wrote a short note, commented on the gift that God had imparted and encouraged the author of the site to continue taking pictures, not knowing if "Chris" was a man or a woman.
We became friends, then prayer partners.  We opened an AOL Message Board which included photos with scripture and soon had several Christians asking for prayer or just chat or giving back praise reports.
One of the most present prayer needs was the illness of my wife, she was suffering from emphysema.  We prayed intensely for her healing. The Lord answered, He chose to give her rest, we had not expected that.  He granted her complete healing and peace for eternity.
In all Margit had been a faithful friend for more than two years and now she became a real soul mate to me as never before.
A few months after my loss,  Margit found her employer, an eighty-six year old gentleman for whom she had worked for seven years, dead in bed upon arrival to work.  Christmas was a month later and when my children heard that we shared having lost someone very dear to us,  they thought that a time together could benefit us both.  Margit  was able to combine a visit to us over Christmas and New Year with a visit to her mother in Germany.
During the two weeks we went on walks together, enjoyed the snow and I showed her some of the sights.
My children eyed us both with great care though saying little, they made her feel welcome.  Margit was a little nervous, naturally, being among strangers although we felt we had know one another for years.
When we sat together in the living room she reached for my hand and held on.  One of my daughters remarked to me "are all Americans so 'touchy feely'?"
To the loving friendship that we had a whole new component entered in, we were falling in love.  Near the end of our time together, at an outing in the park, Margit turned to me and asked "Chris, what's to become of us?"  At that moment all I could say was "I really don't know."
Silently tears ran down her cheeks and I knew that I couldn't let this woman go, she had become too precious to me!
Once Margit was back in Oregon we chatted away every day, sometimes for hours.  Eventually we decided that I should come to Oregon for a visit, we had decided in our communications that marriage was possible.  My children were astonished, maybe even a bit wary but not really surprised, Dad had never been out off Great Britain before and had never flown.
Once I arrived in Eugene, was met by my soul mate at the airport, I knew that we were going to spend the rest of our lives together and we made arrangements to become husband and wife. We were wed a few days later in a little country church by the husband of a friend of Margit, a Lutheran pastor.  On March the eighth, 2002 we were married in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
It's a long story of God's workings, events no one could have foreseen or orchestrated apart from God but briefly, Margit then listed her home for sale and there too God's hand was moving to an expedient sale and move here to Manchester, England where I earn my living...and......the story and the love goes on...

      (Click to hear music)

Words and music by Alfred B. Smith and John Peterson

"I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys."
      Solomon 2:1

There's a Beautiful Rose ever blooming,
      In the Garden of God's Love for me;
It has filled all the world with it's fragrance,
      It will last for eternity.

      Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
      Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me.

Precious Savior, I'll always adore Thee,
      For with Thee no one else can compare;
By Thy Love so divine, I'm enraptured,
Thou are fairer than all of the fair.

      Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
      Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me.

Are you lost in your sins ~ tired of living?
Is your heart filled with bitterness, too?
Come to Jesus, the sweet Rose of Sharon,
He has the power to make you anew.

      Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
      Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me

Sonja, in answer to your question, yes, the kids love Margit, she is not just a "touchy feely" American now but a good friend, and when they meet she gives them all a big hug, and they love it, it was Mother's day here Sunday past, and my children feel it so much, they still miss their mum, so it helps to have Margit to talk to.

      Sarah

hello everyone, this is my statment for today ( a cute email i got!)

      Ever feel this way?
      RESIGNATION
I hereby officially tender my resignation as an adult.
I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.
I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant called Mac & Don's Supper Club.
I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks across the little creek.
I want to think M&Msare better than money because you can eat them.
I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hotsummer's day.
I want to return to a time when life was simple, when all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care.
All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.
I want to think the world is fair.
That everyone is honest and good.
I want to believe that anything is possible.
I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
I want to live simple again.
I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes,
mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.
I want to believe in the power of smiles, :)hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
So . . . here's my checkbook and my car keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood.
And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, cause............."Tag! You're it."

      Jeanne Lee

That's cute, Sarah.  But I don't think I'd want to have to go through growing up and growing old all over again.  I'll just stay here, an old lady, knowing it's the best time of my life so far.  And so much closer to my new beginning.   :D
