JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love Thee.
Ps.  122:6

The world's focus is consistently on the Middle East.

There in the Fertile Crescent was the womb of the human race--physically, spiritually, socially and prophetically.  Today it is the news and nerve center in world affairs.

When you think of Jerusalem (peace), Bethlehem (bread), and Nazareth (good), how great the contrast with Babylon (apostasy), Baghdad (aggression), and Beirut (adversity), the arena of the gathering storm.

Our counsel is to pray.

This is our bulwark as it was for the prophets of the Bible in a godless and lawless age. Are our prayers fervent and forceful at such a time as this generation (Prov. 30:11-14)?

Lord, teach us to pray!
--Les Rainey

Jerusalem the Golden
(Click to hear music)

The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.
Revelation 21:18

Words: Bernard of Morlaix, 1146 (Urbs Sion aurea); translated from Latin to English by John M. Neale, 1858.

Music: "Ewing," Alexander Ewing, 1853

Jerusalem the golden, with milk and honey blest,
Beneath thy contemplation sink heart and voice oppressed.
I know not, O I know not, what joys await us there,
What radiancy of glory, what bliss beyond compare.

They stand, those halls of Zion, all jubilant with song,
And bright with many an angel, and all the martyr throng;
The Prince is ever in them, the daylight is serene.
The pastures of the blessèd are decked in glorious sheen.

There is the throne of David, and there, from care released,
The shout of them that triumph, the song of them that feast;
And they, who with their Leader, have conquered in the fight,
Forever and forever are clad in robes of white.

O sweet and blessèd country, the home of God's elect!
O sweet and blessèd country, that eager hearts expect!
Jesus, in mercy bring us to that dear land of rest,
Who art, with God the Father, and Spirit, ever blessed.

Brief life is here our portion, brief sorrow, short lived care;
The life that knows no ending, the tearless life, is there.
O happy retribution! Short toil, eternal rest;
For mortals and for sinners, a mansion with the blest.

That we should look, poor wanderers, to have our home on high!
That worms should seek for dwellings beyond the starry sky!
And now we fight the battle, but then shall wear the crown
Of full and everlasting, and passionless renown.

And how we watch and struggle, and now we live in hope,
And Zion in her anguish with Babylon must cope;
But he whom now we trust in shall then be seen and known,
And they that know and see Him shall have Him for their own.

For thee, O dear, dear country, mine eyes their vigils keep;
For very love, beholding, thy happy name, they weep:
The mention of thy glory is unction to the breast,
And medicine in sickness, and love, and life, and rest.

O one, O only mansion! O paradise of joy!
Where tears are ever banished, and smiles have no alloy;
The cross is all thy splendor, the Crucified thy praise,
His laud and benediction thy ransomed people raise.

Jerusalem the glorious! Glory of the elect!
O dear and future vision that eager hearts expect!
Even now by faith I see thee, even here thy walls discern;
To thee my thoughts are kindled, and strive, and pant, and yearn.

Jerusalem, the only, that look'st from heaven below,
In thee is all my glory, in me is all my woe!
And though my body may not, my spirit seeks thee fain,
Till flesh and earth return me to earth and flesh again.

Jerusalem, exulting on that securest shore,
I hope thee, wish thee, sing thee, and love thee evermore!
I ask not for my merit: I seek not to deny
My merit is destruction, a child of wrath am I.

But yet with faith I venture and hope upon the way,
For those perennial guerdons I labor night and day.
The best and dearest Father Who made me, and Who saved,
Bore with me in defilement, and from defilement laved.

When in His strength I struggle, for very joy I leap;
When in my sin I totter, I weep, or try to weep:
And grace, sweet grace celestial, shall all its love display,
And David's royal fountain purge every stain away.

O sweet and blessèd country, shall I ever see thy face?
O sweet and blessèd country, shall I ever win thy grace?
I have the hope within me to comfort and to bless!
Shall I ever win the prize itself? O tell me, tell me, Yes!

Strive, man, to win that glory; toil, man, to gain that light;
Send hope before to grasp it, till hope be lost in sight.
Exult, O dust and ashes, the Lord shall be thy part:
His only, His forever thou shalt be, and thou art.

QuoteBy Janet~Today I did something really dumb!    I locked my keys in my car while I was at Dollar General.  Thank goodness, my friend Dee came and rescued me, brought me home so I could get the spares and bring my car home.  I had to call Darrel on his cell phone to ask where the spare keys were.  But the last time I did that stunt was in the middle of a blizzard, and I was in Dodge City.  At least I could have walked home today if necessary..........it would only have been about three miles.

See you all tomorrow!

Troy did this about 2 weeks ago or so.  We had to walk 2 miles to the house to get the extra set of keys from the house and then walk back.  We had the girls with us on our way to the house.  It wasn't to bad though.  We had a good time.

Glad you were able to get a ride.

I got most my prints uploaded.  I will be busy 1 more day and than I can take a little break.

Thanks Papa John! I think I like this picture better too.  :D

I better head to bed.  Another long day tomorrow.

Love you all
Soni

P.s. I will go take a looksee at the new pictures.

I hope everyone sings all 16 verses of today's hymn! ;o)  The words are really lovely.

Ria, it rained all through the night here.  Great for our gardens but hopefully it will stop today so we can go for a walk!

I love that verse you've quoted, Ria.  What a good rule for us to follow today.  Be joyful always and pray continually!  And let's not forget to give thanks for the situations we find ourselves in.

Good morning, friends, Imagine the wonderful fellowship we have here - and how much MORE WONDERFUL it will be in heaven.

I've been thinking about that lately. There's an old old song I remember. The name of it is "Heaven Will Surely Be Worth It All." I think that kinda sums up the way I feel this morning.

Y'all have a good day.

Hi Ruth Ann...  You off to work?  Have a great day!

From "Creation Moments" today...

The Nose Knows

Job 10:10-11

"Did you not pour me out like milk, and curdle me like cheese, clothe me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews?"

We all know that we each started out as a single cell in our mother's womb. Then those cells began to divide and within 21 days we had a working nervous system and a beating heart. How did all those new cells know how to hook up to each other to knit together our nerve connections? How do other cells know to hook up with each other to make our circulatory system, or form the heart? A fascinating new theory has now been proposed, based on the fact that every cell in your body has the same active genes that your nose uses to enable you to smell.

Known as olfactory genes, these genes have no known reason to be active in every one of your cells. Mammals and humans have more than a thousand different olfactory genes. One or another of these crisscrosses each of your cell seven times. Researchers already know that these genes were crucial to the development of your sense of smell as you formed in your mother's womb. As you formed, the nerve cells in your nose sent out growths, called axons, toward your brain. Each of those axons finally grew into the part of the brain called the olfactory bulb. Once there it hooked up with the cell designed to sense the specific scent detectable by the nerve cell in your nose that sent it out. It has now been proposed that olfactory genes are active in every one of our cells because this same method of wiring our noses for smell is used to link all our cells as we form in the womb. If so, this system of knitting our unborn bodies together is an elegant and precise product of a loving Cr! eator. You weren't put together by chance or by mindless forces.

Prayer: Father, I thank You that You hand made me, and still love me. Amen.

I just read the most recent Psalm study (#145). It reminded me of why I take pictures....

I'll be spending the day in and out of the house moving stuff into the RV, and stuff we're not keeping into the garage for the yard sale or for giving to the grown kids or just storing at our son's house. Plus I need to fit in an hour's run and touch up my roots (Grandma here denying the inevitable) :D
And e-mail my replacement at work with tips to make her adjustment easier... I hope I remember to pray without ceasing!

Ruth Ann, we used to sing that song a lot but it has been years since I have heard it.  It DOES speak the truth.  Heaven is worth it all.  Jesus gave his life on the cross so we could go to heaven.

Col 3:15-17
15   Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
16   Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
17   And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
(NIV)

Yesterday I ordered a new camera, a Toshiba  PDR-4300, 4.0 Megapizels and a lot of bells and whistles.

Tonight I am going to speak at our mid-week class on the fact that even when we get old we aren't finished serving the Lord.

Hi Ellie!  You are doing good with posting.  Great shot of your grandbaby.  What a precious moment to capture.

Karma, how's the boot camp coming along?

Good morning to the rest of you.  Hope you all have a fine day.

Marilyn

Good Morning to you all. I have some catching up to do in my novice PSP class if  can ever open that file. I am going to go one with the other lessons in the mean time and come backtothat one later.

The movers are moving Bea today, I got her all packed yesterday and came home tired.

Gilbert and Sarah got that 3 bedroom house so they are packing up to move too. I will sure miss being next door to them.  I am tking Savannah shopping Saturday to get something for Sarah for mother's day. It will be our first outing without with just me and her since I have beeen here.

Ria thank you for telling us all about Rememberance day  in Holland. I am sure that the devastation of WW11 still is very fresh in the minds of Europe  even though all these years have passed.

My thoughts on the latest  news about the  terrible things done to those Iraqi prisoners are that this is just as bad as what the Germans did to the Jews. They need to be held accountable and punished by court martial and prison time themselves.

Good morning!  My body didn't want to get up and go swim this morning, but I said "I'm the boss, and you WILL get up!"  Now the body feels a lot better!  ;)

Ria, you are such an inspiration to us!  And I wonder how you always find such nice little verses each day.  I appreciate you.

Papa John, you're right!  As Christians, we shouldn't even think about retirement.  As long as we have life, we should serve God in whatever ways are available to us.  God bless you!

Hi, Sonja!  My walk home would have been up a long hill, and in a very strong wind, and alone, so I'm glad Dee could come rescue me!  Bet I won't do that again for a while.

I am going to Hugoton to get my flowers this morning, get to see my Abby, too! ;D

Good morning all!

Marilyn, I sent you a PM.  What is the title of the lesson you are doing?

How is Potty Boot Camp doing, Karma!  I remember my mother doing the potty training but Tony wouldn't do it in a potty....he had to go outside!  That was just about as hard to break!!!!

Nice and sunny here in Indiana.  Looks like a great day to work outside.  I need to mow the yard, do some weed eating.  But I am so glad that the dandelions are curling up since Tony sprayed my yard.  Even Inky and Ali are enjoying watching Kitty TV and seeing the birds flying around.

Small Groups last evening was very educational and enjoyable.  I only have 14 days to clean, shine, bake, cook, and shop for all of them to come here.  I am excited as well as apprehensive.

Hi everyone.  Am enjoying a day with no appointments or commitments.  We are not even having choir practice tonight-got a week off.  However, this evening Pat and I are going to the Longhorn Steak House for dinner as I was given a nice gift card from one of the organizations for which I do their webpage.

We found out yesterday that our plan to add a bathroom using space in our attic probably isn't going to work so we are again considering adding on to our house to make it handicapped accessible for our daughter while praying that she doesn't become handicapped.

Papa John, your new camera sounds great.  I would like to get a new digital camera but will wait for awhile and use my old Sony Maciva as it still works perfectly although doesn't produce the best quality pictures (of course that might have something to do with the person behind the camera).  ::)

Marilyn, afraid I must differ with you on the seriousness of what has happened to the Iraqi prisioners.  We are not exterminating the prisioners and what we have is a few people who have become overzealous in the performance of the tasks they were assigned in trying to get information from them that would help in the war effort and a breakdown in supervision.

Marilyn, wish I could help you with the PSP file problem but don't have a clue.

Janet, if you had to lock your keys in your car it sounds like you did it at the right place and time.  Glad it turned out well.  I will often double-check my pocket to be sure I have the keys there before closing the car door.

Sonja, I get the strong impression that you find a way to make most situations a pleasant experience for your family rather than getting upset about a situation.  That is great that you can turn things into a family fun experience.

Ellie, are you all giving up your house and just living in the RV?  I know there are a lot of people who do that and have a wonderful time traveling from place to place in an unhurried manner.  Know you must be excited to get started.

Pat, that was an interesting Creation Moment and your devotional is very timely with the events in the world.  I just have this very strong sense that God in putting the world in position for the Last Days and it is comforting to know that "Heaven Will Be Worth It All".

Ria, I think you are probably right in your concern about the EU but expect that also relates to the point of Pat's devotional posting today.

Rachelle, hope today finds you feeling better.  Glad you are enjoying your new camera so much.

Ruth Ann, you are doing a great job with the Prayer & Praise Lists.

Etta Sue, what is "Kitty TV"?  Don't fret about your house and your upcoming hosting.  The people are coming to see you and the other folks and the house is just incidental.  Of course, this may just be a "man" perspective! :D

Fast Eddie, Jeanne  and June, good to see you posting.

Janet and Karma, I feel a little less silly for leaving my keys in the car.  I was in Downtown Toronto at an eye doctors appointment and left the car with the keys sitting on the seat, passenger side.  The car was locked up.   A very kind lady with 2 children called CAA for me and it took about a minute to get into the car.  God was watching over the car, it could easily have been stollen.  No way to walk home I was about 300 miles from home! ! !  ???

The weather is cold and damp here in the north.  About plus 8*C, and overcast.   >:(

Have a good day everyone.

Talking about locking ourselves out the car-I took my husbands car on sunday and had the keys with me but locked the car up-the problem was i didn't have a key to unlock the car door lol..Thank the Lord we had our Dog Shasta with us and we left the window half way down.
and so my daughter was able to stick her arm in the car and unlock the windows.
Taking a little break from House work now-and then I got to get back to work-Im feeling a little better today.
Good to read all the post-
Well, need to go I will be back later.

I'm thankful today to be sitting here and hearing the sounds of a power mower and weedeater off and on.  I can't do much of the yard work these days, but I have a brother in the church who does yard work for a living.  I pay him what I can, which doesn't cover it all, but I'm able to go over to his house and help them set up their home financial system.  Praise the Lord for His people!

Sonifo

The smell of fresh cut grass.  The sound of mowers and weed eaters.  The children playing and running in the streets.  Awww...the joys of spring.

I am getting ready to head out the door for dance.  Be back LATER.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I took my cell phone charging wire with me to work this morning, since I was so tired last night I ws "addle-pated" and forgot to charge the phone up.

Well, sometime during the morning, I unhooked the phone to use it, and then, when I came back to my chair, I rolled over it with my chair. Now, with the chair, plus my weight, needless to say, I murdered that poor charging wire.

So, I'm a bit less "wealthy" tonight, but a satisfied customer. The folk at the cell phone store took very good care of me.

So, some of us lose keys. Well, I've been worrying about my memory lately, so I have a second set of keys tucked safely 'way down in the bottom of my purse and also another set tucked into the zipper pocket of my laptop case --- just in case!!

Now, if I can just remember where I put my purse and my computer case... ???

Etta Sue first I want to tell you that I found the gradient file. I just didn't know how to find it in the materials pallette.
Next I want to ask where do I find the small picture tubes for the shadow boxes. (flowers or something else.)

This is going real slow for me right now until I get the hang of it. It leaves me with a pain in my right shoulder from holding and guiding the mouse while getting tense about  the whole thing.

On the average I am doing each lesson 2-3 times before getting it right, I still have to go back to 1 and 2 to finish them. Picutres in the Shadow boxes and   putting the gradient in the picture tube of lesson 2.

Happydog escaped over the fence this morning, but I found him quickly out front by the car and had to chase him across the street to get the leash on him.

So I stopped at the vet on the way home and made the appointment to get him neuter, his ears checked, rabies shot, and toenails clipped. The Dr. is going to give me a prescription for something to  slow him down enough to get him in the car and over to the office. His appointment is
Tuesday. Gilbert will help me get him in the car.

Going to Bible Study in a little bit so I Will see y-all tomorrow.

Hello, all!  It's been a while, huh :)

Well, I'm still around.  Somewhere.

Might be buying a new digicam.  Depends on the next 2.5 hours on ebay...

Trav is asleep - long day for that little man!  This is the day that Karma works the most hours, and he spends almost the entire day with my Mom and Dad.  That's usually a lot of fun for him, because they take him to the park and all that kinda stuff.  He loves his "Maw n Ran."  (My dad's name is "Randall" and Trav took to calling him "Ran" very early.)  We dunno if he'll wake up before time to go back to bed or not!

I've still got an ecommerce site to get up and running, and our internet connection has been a terrible disappointment lately.  It's very problematic and very slow, and the fact that DSL wouldn't work has made it even more frustrating.  I really feel a little silly praying about a stupid telephone line, but it's a pain in the neck when you have responsibilities to perform and don't have technology that works.

Grilled some burgers tonight; first time I've had the grill hot this year.  I'm mostly a hamburger cook, but I would love to grill some other things as well.  Maybe I'll stop leatherizing steak one of these days and figure out how to do it right.

Gonna get for now.  God bless all of you!

We haven't had this for a month!  And I've been singing it all day or humming it to myself while I've been working in the garden.

I hope you enjoy it too.

The Way That He Loves[/b]
(Click to hear music)

by W. Elmo Mercer

The way that He loves is as fair as the day,
that blesses my way with light;
The way that He loves is as soft as the breeze,
Caressing the trees at night.
So tender and precious is He,
Contented with Jesus, I'll be.
The way that He loves is so thrilling because
His love reaches even me.

The way that He loves is as deep as the sea,
His spirit shall be my stay;
The way that He loves is as pure as a rose,
Much sweeter He grows each day.
His peace hovers near like a dove,
I know there's a Heaven above;
To Jesus I cling-life's a wonderful thing
Because of the way He loves.

Nards, sounds like you've really been keeping busy.  Sorry you're having so much trouble with your internet connection.  Not nice.

Marilyn and anyone who would like to talk about Paint Shop Pro, we have an area just to do that.  sometimes it's easy for questions in here (New Every Morning) to get lost and so let's go there and discuss.  Paint Shop Pro

I have a crazy thing on my monitor that keeps "playing".  It's a little screen called "Autoplay" and I have no clue as to what it's about.  It just started a couple of hours ago.  Anyone with Windows XP ever heard of this?

Whew!  What a day.  I went to Hugoton around 10:30 and didn't get back home until after 6:30.  I wound up helping in the greenhouse a while, then helped open and check, price and re-pack Christmas stuff that is already arriving.  They have to check it to make sure it isn't broken.  We took Abby to school, then I went back to pick her up.  There is a real, old-fashioned stagecoach there tonight.  These people are driving (pulling?  dragging?) anyway taking it, from east of Branson, Mo. to Clayton, New Mexico.  It is one of the last ones manufactured by the Butterfield Overland Stage Co. and is in really top shape.  I took pictures of Abby by it and inside it, with her Mom's camera.  I hope they can get some of it with the horses hitched to it tomorrow.  They are going to go to the elementary school with it in the morning and talk to the kids.

Pat, you asked what time the pool opens--I think they open at 5:30 AM!!  I usually go just after 7:00, and there are usually only about two to five other people there at that time.  I like having a lane all to myself.  I had a nice surprise when I went into the ladies locker room after my swim this morning--Beth was there, getting ready to swim.  I have been encouraging her to go and exercise in the water, that she needs to do all she can to maintain what mobility she has.  So I was really happy to see her there!  :) :D
