JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Thy brother is come. . . thy brother was dead. . . thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living.
Luke 15:27, 32, 30

In speaking to the older brother about the prodigal son, the servant and the father both used the term "thy brother."

The older brother would not say, "my brother," saying instead to his father, "thy son," thus distancing himself from his brother.

Holding ourselves aloof from brothers and sisters in Christ is not of God. "Is Christ divided?" (1 Cor. 1:13).

Heaven will not be partitioned to accommodate our carnal divisions. Christ prayed that we "may be made perfect in one" (Jn. 17:23).

Let us seek to make that prayer a reality.
--David Logan

All these once were sinners,
defiled in His sight,
Now arrayed in pure garments,
in praise they unite.

I'm awfully sorry that you won't be here every day, Ria. I always look forward to your wonderful messages.

We'll look forward to you coming back really often. I wish I knew about digital cameras, but I don't even own one, except for a camera inside my cell phone, which takes very tiny pictures.

I think you will really enjoy being in the christian bookstore. You have such an outgoing personality and are such a deeply committed christian that the people with whom you come in contact will see your love for Christ shining through.

Y'all have a good day.

Good Morning Everyone...

Just got my little job done on SeniorNet that I do each morning.  Had a bit of trouble with the program I use but finally got it straightened out.

Soni, how is Lila Mae?  Oh, please give her an extra big hug for me today!!

Travel safely, Ruth Ann.

Ria, please don't stay away from CP.  I look forward to your posts so much.   For your photos, Ria, you may be trying to print them by using "Fit to page" in the Printer Properties.

You've sent one to me this morning and yes, it is very large but so easy to resize it if you have the program on your computer to do this.  With Paint Shop Pro, it is so very easy.  Is there any chance that you can re-install that again on your computer?

Good morning everyone:-  :)

I get Spurgeon's Morning & Evening Devotions daily and I thought I would share a devotional with you all this morning,

"Only be thou strong and very courageous."
- Joshua 1:7

Our God's tender love for his servants makes him concerned for
the state of their inward feelings. He desires them to be of good
courage. Some esteem it a small thing for a believer to be vexed
with doubts and fears, but God thinks not so.

From this text it is plain that our Master would not have us
entangled with fears. He would have us without carefulness,
without doubt, without cowardice. Our Master does not think so
lightly of our unbelief as we do.

When we are desponding we are subject to a grievous malady, not
to be trifled with, but to be carried at once to the beloved
Physician. Our Lord loveth not to see our countenance sad. It was
a law of Ahasuerus that no one should come into the king's court
dressed in mourning: this is not the law of the King of kings,
for we may come mourning as we are; but still he would have us
put off the spirit of heaviness, and put on the garment of
praise, for there is much reason to rejoice.

The Christian man ought to be of a courageous spirit, in order
that he may glorify the Lord by enduring trials in an heroic
manner. If he be fearful and fainthearted, it will dishonour his
God. Besides, what a bad example it is.

This disease of doubtfulness and discouragement is an epidemic
which soon spreads amongst the Lord's flock. One downcast
believer makes twenty souls sad. Moreover, unless your courage is
kept up Satan will be too much for you.

Let your spirit be joyful in God your Saviour, the joy of the
Lord shall be your strength, and no fiend of hell shall make
headway against you: but cowardice throws down the banner.
Moreover, labour is light to a man of cheerful spirit; and
success waits upon cheerfulness. The man who toils, rejoicing in
his God, believing with all his heart, has success guaranteed. He
who sows in hope shall reap in joy; therefore, dear reader, "be
thou strong, and very courageous. "
When I think upon my God, my heart is so full of joy that the notes dance and leap from my pen- Franz Josef Haydn.

Janet

Ria, I am so happy that you will stay with us on CP.  If you are short on time, just stop in and say hello!  Then we know you are thinking of us.  I love your posts so much.  I agree that the Christian bookshop is the perfect place for you to work, and I think you will enjoy it a lot, and for sure, you will be a great asset to them there.  Blessings to you....and how nice that you have a good butler.  I know he likes being appreciated!

We had our swim, Beth was there, too, so that's a good thing.  I am going to get my hair done today, because I have to give a little talk at the care home where my mom lives on Sunday.  So I'd like to look nice for that. ;)

They are getting ready to grill Rumsfield on the prison problems.  It was not his fault, but they have to make someone pay---seems to be the feeling.  They are using it as an excuse for a lot of political hot air and blame games.  Terrible.

I need to get busy---see you all later.

Good morning.

Ria, if you have pictures you want to post...just send them to me.  I will resize them and compress them and send them back to you to post.  Or I can post them for you.  I would love to help my favorite Dutchwoman!!

We just had some freaky weather this morning.  Instantly the wind became so fierce blowing leaves, corn husks and dust everywhere.  The temp dropped about 20 degrees in a matter of minutes.  It rained huge drops of rain.  Now an hour later, the sun is trying to come out.  Freaky!!!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

Etta Sue, that sounds like typical midwestern weather.  I so will remember growing up in Missouri and we had a saying if we didn't like the weather just wait a little while and it would probably change during the day.

Ria, I am not aware of any freeware program that will compress photos in the resizing.  Like Pat, Etta Sue, Marilyn and others I use the PaintShop Pro program and it does wonders in taking a large sized file and resizing it and then compressing it to the size needed for the Internet.

Your new job at the bookstore sounds great.  As Janet said, just a quick hello when you don't have much time will let us know that you are there.  As the others have said I also always enjoy your postings.

Janet, glad that Beth was able to get to the pool.  Sure that type of exercise will be good for her.

Welcome to Gord Brown.  It sounds as if you have known Pat for a long time.  Hope we will see a lot of your postings here on CP over the weeks and months ahead.

Hayley, thanks for the Spurgeon devotional piece this morning.

Ruth Ann, hope you will have had a good trip out of town by the time you read today's postings.

Pat, another fine devotional message this morning.

Have some more of the "Christian One Liners" to share today.  Not sure I understand this first one but guess the six strong men refer to pallbearers at a funeral.

QuoteDon't wait for six strong men to take you to church.

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

God grades on the cross, not the curve.

God loves everyone, but probably prefers "fruits of the spirit" over "religious nuts".

"The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;"
Deuteronomy 33:27 NKJV

Author:  Fanny J. Crosby, 1820-1915
Musician:  William H. Doane, 1832-1915

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o'ershaded, sweetly my soul shall rest.
Hark! 'tis the voice of angels, borne in a song to me.
Over the fields of glory, over the jasper sea.

Refrain

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast
There by His love o'ershaded, sweetly my soul shall rest.

Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe from corroding care,
Safe from the world's temptations, sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow, free from my doubts and fears;
Only a few more trials, only a few more tears!

Refrain

Jesus, my heart's dear refuge, Jesus has died for me;
Firm on the Rock of Ages, ever my trust shall be.
Here let me wait with patience, wait till the night is over;
Wait till I see the morning break on the golden shore.

Refrain

In Oregon we had a slightly different saying.  It went, "If you don't like the weather here, wait a minute!"  Especially at this time of year it was that changeable.
But remember - God sent it all.

Oh, for a Heart to Praise My God[/u][/size]
(Click to hear music)

Create in me a clean heart,
O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10

Author:  Charles Wesley, 1707-1788
Musician:  James J. Walch, 1837-1901

O for a heart to praise my God,
A heart from sin set free,
A heart that always feels Thy blood
So freely shed for me.

A heart resigned, submissive, meek,
My great Redeemer's throne,
Where only Christ is heard to speak,
Where Jesus reigns alone.

A humble, lowly, contrite, heart,
Believing, true and clean,
Which neither life nor death can part
From Christ who dwells within.

A heart in every thought renewed
And full of love divine,
Perfect and right and pure and good,
A copy, Lord, of Thine.

My heart, Thou know'st, can never rest
Till Thou create my peace;
Till of mine Eden repossest,
From self, and sin, I cease.

Thy nature, gracious Lord, impart;
Come quickly from above;
Write Thy new name upon my heart,
Thy new, best name of Love.

Papa John

I want to add my welcome to all the new members.

My brother, Steve, came late yesterday and we had a big dinner. Rachel and her family came over. We really enjoyed the evening. Steve spent the night and left this morning to go back to North Carolina.

Also, yesterday my new camera came. It is really a nice camera much better than my old one. It is a Toshiba PDR-4300, 4.0 MEGA PIXELS, 2.8X Optical Zoom, a Movie Clip, and SD memory chip which can fit into a slot in my laptop.
Sonja, as soon as I can find time I'll try to show what this camera can do.

Good to see everyone today.  Ria, I join the rest by saying that we don't want you to stay away from us.  I always enjoy reading your comments every morning.

I Jn 4:16-21
16   And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
17   Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
18   There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
19   We love Him because He first loved us.
20   If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?
21   And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.  (NKJ)

Well, it's not morning, I didn't get online this morning, but evening is better than not at all. In fact I haven't gotten much done today at all, except go get our propane bottle refilled, take all our wall pictures out of their frames and put them in an album (can't take walls full of pictures in the RV), run 5 miles, write up a checklist for my "replacement" at work (who starts Monday).... I planned on cleaning out a whole room of the house, getting it emptied of everything carrying an aura of our life as house-dwelling working folks. Our camper is beautiful, and our clothes, food, dishes, cookware and even our guitar and Steve's golf clubs are in their places, but where in it do we put our lives?

Papa John, what a wonderful camera for you to get.  Wow!  We're looking forward to seeing lots of photos from you very soon.

Hi Jane...  I'll be over to see the news about Geli as soon as possible.  Thanks so much for your faithful news about your friend.

Nice to see you posting, Ellie!  Before long, you'll be one of the "regulars" in here.  How do you take your coffee by the way?   :)

Hope you're doing ok with your PSP lessons, Marilyn!  You'll be making lots of nice welcome graphics in here and Birthday cards for our members before long.

Soni, how's Lila Mae?  Any repercussions?  Give her a great big hug for me, OK?  Missed seeing your cheery posts in here today.  Lovely flower shots over in the Flower Challenge though. I must get busy and get some posted.

Thanks for the devotional Pat.  I haven't  been on the computer lately and am not up on  the postings.  Hope that all is well with everyone and I will spend time checking the photo section....Must get busy and take some pictures.

Have joined a Spring 5 Pin Bowling league and feeling the pain of using neglected muscles.  Couldn't seem to do anything wrong and so will get stuck with a high average...that I can't possibly maintain!  Ever had a day where you try not to 'shine' and it happens anyway???

We went to church on Sunday...finally.  It seems to be a nice church, filled with young couples and many kids.  Not many folks my age tho' so not certain how it will all turn out.  Wendy won't go every week, so that is still a problem.  Hope that time will change that...

Amanda will turn 17 on Monday and is having a small party tonight.  How time does fly.  The wild bunny she adopted has become quite a hit at her 4H Club and also here in the neighborhood.  I will take some pictures.

I do so enjoy your postings Ria and hope that you will continue every morning.  Things seem to have been quiet on the site lately.  Guess we have all been taking a Spring Break.

Have a pleasant evening/day and God Bless.

Good Evening Everyone-
I have been going crazy for a couple hours looking for our cell phone contract-originally we were supposed to be signed up for nationwide long distance-well I found out today after looking on the net to find a number to get the phone fixed-that our bill was over 300 dollars-they charged us roaming charges which we were told we would not have with this plan..anyway-pray i find that contract..
On another note-we are all doing well here-I am glad its the weekend and I think the kids are too-Im going to try and catch up with grading and do some much needed house cleaning-we won't do to much for Mothers Day as we just don't have the $ right now..
Hugs to all of you-
Rachelle
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on thy own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct thy paths.

Rachelle, definitely I'll remember this request.  Please keep us posted.  Hope you find it.

Now, it's time to lock the door.  Sorry I'm so late.
