JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

God. . . hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6

It's amazing. In taking on humanity, Christ concealed and revealed the glory of God.

On His earthly sojourn, so that man could see Him and live, He concealed in flesh the outward manifestation of His glory.

On the cross, by allowing His flesh to be rent, He revealed the essential glory of God--in a language that all of humankind could comprehend.

And so we see that the essential glory of God is shown in His love for all of us.

Praise the Lord!
--Daniel Lee

Gazing on the Lord in glory
While our hearts in worship bow,
There we read the wondrous story,
Of the cross, its shame and woe.

GOODMORNING ALL 11.10 AM in Holland

PAT thank you for the devotional this morning and the hymn yesterday was awesome you are doing a lot work for CP thank you for that.

RUTH i am coming so often as i can but mostly i work only in the afternoon only on saterday then the hole day.

This morning i have read this:

IS GOD'S WILL MY WILL?

1 Thessalonians 4 :3
This is the will of God, your sanctification.

Sanctification is not a question of whether God
is willing to sanctify me - is it my will?
Sanctification makes me one with Jesus Christ,
and in Him with God, and it is  accomplished only
trough the magnificent atonement of Christ.

         TENDER  LOVE
Though the multitude may press Him,
we are blessed that God's own Son
cares for every child as tenderly

I read the Book of Ruth this morning. What a wonderful story of loyalty and love. It was good for me to read it because, excited as I am about moving into a life on the road in a fifth-wheel, I am also very sad to be leaving the job that I loved and the house that has been our home, giving away or selling things that have decorated our living space for 31 years --or longer, things I had as a child, things my mother had as a child, even things my grandmother had as a child. Of course we're keeping these things in the family but I am sad to part with them. Special gifts people have given me.... I'm being shown constantly how attached I can become to "things" and that there is relatively little I can take with me -- "now" is a powerful metaphor for "eternity." I am going with my husband, I can take my love, my memories, a few cherished items and mementos, my cameras, my music, my sports essentials (a bike, biking shoes, running shoes, swimsuits), a conservative amount of clothing.... but it's a reminder that the day will come when I stand before the Lord clothed in His righteousness alone.

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness,
No merit of my own I claim,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand,
All other ground is sinking stand.

When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, his covenant, his blood,
Sustain me in the raging flood.
When all supports are washed away,
He then is all my hope and sway.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Redeemed to stand before the throne.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

(I love this hymn best when sung to the tune of the Navy Hymn, "Eternal Father, Strong to Save.)

Hi everyone and welcome Tracey to the CP site.  It sounds like you have an interesting family.

Ruth Ann, sure hope the babies fever doesn't get any higher as that seems terribly high.  Know the parents are very concerned as they should be.  Glad you had a safe trip home.  Guess you know the roads between Atlanta and Nashville pretty well.

Happy Birthday Papa John and Amanda

Rachelle, that would be quite a house.

This is Monday so it is the day for me to coach the computer class on Quicken at the Senior Center.  This is week 5 of 8.  Then I get to go and have another blood test done.  Sure am getting tired of them sticking that needle in my arm but am thankful they are able to do the test.  So I will be later this afternoon getting home.

Ellie - that's such an excellent hymn!  It's all we need - the righteousness of Jesus.  The wonder of it is that He's willing to be our righteousness!

 :'( :'( :'(Lost my post..........again.  Phooey.

I hold my mouse on my lap, and if I swivel my chair around, it sometimes hits the mouse against the edge of the desk, and Whoosh!  Bye-bye post!  Not always the cause, but this time it was.

I had told Ria how much I liked the little poem she put in today, and that it reminds me of the similarities between God's love and a mother's love (or a grandma's!)

Ellie, you are so right---no matter how much we like our stuff, we must always remember it is all just stuff!  Moving into a fifth wheel would surely make us get rid of a lot of stuff, too.  Then those decisions come as to what is really important, even while still here on this earth.  We need to be about discarding a lot of things too, to save our kids having to do it should something happen to us.  Your description of your trailer's former decor -- I think you said "plain oatmeal with no salt"--- gave me a chuckle.  I call that kind of decorating BBB---Boring Builders Beige.  Not very imiginative, for sure.  I'll bet your trailer is beautiful now, though.

Pat, how are you feeling today?

Marilyn, I was glad to read you are no longer taking Lipitor.  My sister's problems are from her taking that drug.  We did some research online and found there are many, many people whose lives have been ruined by taking that stuff!!  It is just terrible all the bad side effects, some completely debilitating, that Lipitor causes.  So if any of you are on it---please check it out!  Read the fine print!!

I need to go check on my sister Jeanie and see if she needs some help today.  I hope she can get that stuff all out of her system and recover her mobility and strength.

Hi Karma!  Good to see you today!

Hi, Sonja---happy Stepping! ;D

Be back later, folks!

Janet I have watched the Doctor shows on TBN and knew the bad side effects before they put me on it. I had refused to take it when I was down south and here too at first, Then The PA comvinced me that I could get off in just a few months so I accepted it for 7 months. I am so glad to be off it now. I will do all I can to keep my cholesterol down rather than go back on any Statin type drugs.

Larry I hope you can help me fix my computer. I have tried everything which really isn't very much knowledge.   :-[
If you can't help then I will have to goto Dell teck support and that takes so long. On the phone it really takes a long time and I get someone in India.

Here's a lively one that you all might enjoy singing.  Haven't had it here for a long time.

STILL SWEETER EVERY DAY
(Click to hear music)

To Jesus every day I find my heart is closer drawn,
He's fairer than the glory of the gold and purple dawn;
He's all my fancy pictures in its fairest dreams, and more,
Each day He grows still sweeter than He was the day before.

Chorus:

The half cannot be fancied
This side the golden shore;
O there He'll be still sweeter
Than He ever was before.

His glory broke upon me when I saw Him from afar,
He's fairer than the lily, brighter than the morning star;
He fills and satisfies my longing spirit o'er and o'er,
Each day He grows still sweeter than He was the day before.

Chorus:

My heart is sometimes heavy, but He comes with sweet relief,
He folds me to His bosom when I droop with blighting grief;
I love the Christ Who all my burdens in His body bore,
Each day He grows still sweeter than He was the day before.

Chorus:

Rachelle ~ That's a neat house.  Lots of potential bedrooms.  I love looking at house plans.  BTW, where will the washer and dryer be?

Soni ~ The first time I was in the Big Horn Mountains was July 3rd.  There was a 6" snow fall the night before.  Beautiful with the snow on the pine trees.  July 4th we were in Las Vegas and it was 110°.  Quite a contrast!!

Ruth ~ I agree with your opinion of dentists.  They think you need all this stuff done and charge you an arm and a leg.  But when you tell them you don't have that kind of money, they look at you like you are the stupid one.  When I had Inky spayed and declawed I told the vet that I didn't want to put a lot of money in Inky...cats are not suppose to outlive people...I got a card in the mail telling me I needed to do some follow up shots.  I called today.  Kitten shots that are very necessary...similar to immunization shots that children get.  I told her that Inky was an indoor cat.  She said, but your cat may still get something that these shots would immune her from.  I then ask her what the cost would be.  $25.  I cancelled the appointment.  I think vets and dentists and general prationers are all in the same scam business.  Everyone is out for the mighty dollar but I haven't seen my income raise for 8 years!

I have shined and polished my living room in getting ready for my small groups meeting next week.  It will be here much before I will know it.

The edgers and the stepping stones were delivered today.

Janet

Etta Sue, I agree!  It really gripes me to have to pay the Dr. $86.00 just to have my prescriptions re-written!  Highway robbery!  Consequently, I stay away from doctors as much as I can, and I think I am much healthier for it!

I need to go find something for lunch.  We have a habit of waiting too long before we eat our meals, trying to correct that.

Marilyn, I saw your IM to me and replied.  I will certainly try to help you if I can.

Just back a few minutes from coaching the class.  Today we were studying recording stocks in Quicken and it was sort of tough going.  We will do more of that next week.

WHEN THE "WHOLE WORLD STINKS"

Do you remember the story of the sailor who over-imbibed and fell
asleep at his table? His buddies smeared a bit of strong smelling
cheese dip on his mustache, which caused him to wake up and look
around. He sniffed and then walked outside, sniffed again and came
back in, walked out and back in one more time and finally sat back
down in his seat. "It's no use," he said to his friend, "the whole
world stinks!"

Ever felt that way? We have all experienced bad days and horrible
situations. We've felt trapped, helpless and, at times, hopeless. We
may have even believed that the whole world stinks.

But I like the tremendous way one woman has learned to approach
living. She grew up in extreme poverty, but was privileged to be in a
Sunday School class taught by a young woman named Alice Freeman
Palmer, who was later to become president of Wellesley College. One
Sunday, the teacher asked the children to find something beautiful in
their homes, and then tell the other children about it the next week.

The following Sunday, when the little girl was asked what she found
that was beautiful at home, she thought of her impoverished condition
and replied, "Nothing. There's nothing beautiful where I live,
except...except the sunshine on our baby's curls."

Years later, long after Mrs. Palmer's untimely death, her husband was
lecturing at a university in the western United States. He was
approached by a distinguished looking woman who fondly recalled that
she had been a member of his wife's Sunday School class. "I can
remember that your wife once asked us to find something beautiful in
our homes, and that I came back saying the only beautiful thing I
could find was the sunshine on my sister's curls. But that assignment
your wife made was the turning point in my life. I began to look for
something beautiful wherever I was, and I've been doing it ever
since." That one suggestion turned her life around.

If you have been thinking your "whole world stinks," the daily habit
of looking for something beautiful can help you see the good that is
in the world, and transform your hope into enough positive energy to
build a life that counts.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! ;D

Papa John

Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday.  Al, I know the birthday celebrates when we were born but it can't help but remind you that you are a year older, especially when the day you were born is so long ago.

We have had a nice day today and tonight we had steak cooked out on the grill.  Yummy.

Sonja, I can't help but remark again on your picture, the one who is a dancer.  You are a very photogenic young lady.

We had good news today about one of our grand-sons-in law.  Rebekah's husband got the job he had applied for with Vanderbilt University.  He graduated with a degree in Computer Technology and this is a very good job for someone just out of college.  They will be living here in Nashville instead of moving away.

Ps 100:3-5

3   Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4   Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5   For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.  (KJV)

Thanks Papa John!

I know that song that was made from those words "  Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name."  I just don't know the name of it.

I wonder if Pat does?

I had a pretty good day.  I am very tired.  I got up at 3:30am and couldn't get back to sleep.
I wonder how Janet is doing with her restless nights?

I am just goofing around on the computer, not much else to do, or that I want to do.

I will be back.
