Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

An idle life and a holy heart is a contradiction.
~Thomas Brooks~

Morning Devotional...

Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.
Eph.  6:10

I sought for a man. . . to stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
Ezekiel 22:30

Even the greatest men have their flaws.

With Jacob it was weakness of faith, having to resort to deception to receive the blessing.

With David it was weakness of flesh, as he sought gratification with another man's wife. Yet they did great things for God.

One was known as the apple of God's eye, the other was a man after God's own heart.

We, too, are flawed, by our sinful nature.

Yet God in His grace still seeks for men and women to stand in the gap, to live lives pleasing to Him, and purposing to do His will.
--C. Tempest

Dare to be a Daniel
(Click to hear music)

Philip P. Bliss

Standing by a purpose true,
Heeding God's command,
Honor them, the faithful few!
All hail to Daniel's Band!

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone,
Dare to have a purpose firm,
Dare to make it known!

Many mighty men are lost,
Daring not to stand,
Who for God had been a host,
By joining Daniel's Band!

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone,
Dare to have a purpose firm,
Dare to make it known!

Many giants, great and tall,
Stalking thru the land,
Headlong to the earth would fall,
If met by Daniel's Band!

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone,
Dare to have a purpose firm,
Dare to make it known!

Hold the gospel banner high!
On to vict'ry grand!
Satan and his host defy,
And shout for Daniel's Band!

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone,
Dare to have a purpose firm,
Dare to make it known!

Dare to be a Daniel was one of my father's most favorite hymns and we sang it at his funeral.  He was definitely a "Daniel".

Hello all!  I've got good news, bad news, good news, bad news, etc. etc.

Good news --  My wonderful husband has done something else to the computer, so the Internet is working nicely now.  I should be able to post "normally" again.

Bad news -- All of my posting has to be done at home, now.  No fast connection from work.

Good news -- I have more time to spend on my Mary Kay and with Travis.

Bad news -- I don't have a job until July 1.

Good news -- I don't have a job until July 1. :-P

I really do apologize again for being so scarce the past few weeks.   When it takes four or five minutes for a page to load, it's just not practical to post a lot.  Tomorrow is super busy, but I'll try to get in tomorrow evening sometime.

Take care ya'll!

HEARTLIGHT DEVOTIONAL:

Amos 5 : 14 NIV
Seek good, not evil, that you may live.
Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you,
just as you say He is.

Many illicit and evil groups have claimed to have
God on their side.
Horrific things have been done under the disguise
of a "Christian" movement.
Jesus, however, told us we could recognize people
their fruit. Those who seek good and abhor evil
and those who practice justice and mercy are
the ones who have God with them. Let's make
sure our claim of God's precense is matched
by the precense of God's character in our lives!

Prayer
Almighty God and loving Fahter,
thank you for your precense in my life.
Please forgive me when i let sin and
selfishness crowd you out and bring
reproach to your name.
Empower me with your Holy Spirit to live
as your holy child while displaying your
righteous character to the world.
In Jesus name i pray    AMEN.

Ria

Good morning, friends,

My daughter just phoned and we had a nice little chat.

I hope Marcel enjoys a wonderful birthday, Ria.

Karmat, I certainly understand about slow computers. After my son moved here to the house, we pooled our dial up internet money and got cable modem, then h`1e was able to network the computers, and it certain is `faster.

There are more than 14,000 employees as our company world wide, so the only internet access allowed at work is for business purposes. I can only try to imagine the amount of traffic that goes over those lines!

Pat, I've so often thought of that verse where a man was needed to "stand in the gap." Thanks for that reminder that, though imperfect by far, each of us has a place in the Kingdom.

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Good morning all!!

Ria, work is hard to find here, as well.  Fortunately, I don't have to go out and search for a job.  I can do some other stuff (tutoring homeschoolers, selling Mary Kay cosmetics.  My job should start back in July.  I really do feel for those that are out of work and have to support a family.  That would be very discouraging, I would think.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.  It is beautiful here, but thunderstorms are being called for later this afternoon.  We are super busy today, but I wanted to pop in as we were starting our day.

To all the people who have joined in the past week or so -- a big welcome to you.  Sorry I didn't welcome you individually as you "entered."  I look forward to "getting to know" you, and I think you will really enjoy CP.

Good morning!  I didn't go swim today as I had one of "those" nights again.  Also needed to cook breakfast for Darrel so he could leave early to go install an alarm system in Guymon, Oklahoma.  We are in the process of selling the alarm company to my nephew, Lance, and are praying all goes well with that this time.  This is the fourth time we have thought we had a buyer.  So far, Lance is excited about it, and is out trying to sell systems, and is learning to install, too.

Tonight is the banquet.  Diane and Abby are coming to go with me.  Beth has decided not to go.  I have lots to do today, besides helping finish up the decorating.  We have to put on the tablecloths, the centerpieces, fill the mint/nut containers, put the placemats down, etc.  All of this can't be done until after the noon meal is served today.

My sister is still having so much pain, but thinks she is improving little by little.  Doctors should warn people that those drugs can ruin their lives!  Some people have wound up in wheelchairs because of taking Lipitor.  >:(

Karma, nice to hear a bit more from you.  I understand about the slow loading problem.  When I first started using Darrel's old computer, I used to read several pages of a book while things were loading, and sometimes even fell asleep!  :-\  We get used to speed!!  Quickly!!

Hello Ria!  Hope you have a great day!

Hi, dear Pat.  Love you!

Hello, Ruth Ann.  How is your son feeling these days?  I hope much better.

I will get busy and come back later if possible.  Many errands to do plus work I have let slide while decorating!

Good Morning Everyone!

How are you all today?

Last year on May 14, we had 61 messages posted in New Every Morning and on May 13 last year, we had over 90!!

Please share with us all if you have any idea why our posts have done a belly-flop!  LOL  We have more members and yet our messages on the site are going Down---Down---Down.

Is there something that we are doing differently?

I hope that you have a great day today.

I have an Avon order to pack.  Then tomorrow morning, Andrew and Terena have invited me to the Annual Family Breakfast that their little church has annually.  Jack and I used to go to that church so we know most of the folk who will be going.

What are your plans for the weekend?

I hope it's going to be a lovely one for you...whatever you are doing and wherever you are.

And don't forget to take your camera, Al Moak!

Here is a grin for you!

THE auto auction I attended was selling cars to benefit charity. Vehicles were classified as either "Running" or "No Start." On the block was a No Starter. It had a shattered windshield, two missing tires, a sagging front bumper, a cockeyed grille, a hood that was sprung up at an angle, and dings and dents all over the body. Before he started the bidding, the auctioneer announced the car's year, make and model, and then read the owner's comments: "Please note - the radio does not work."

Hey AL look at what Pat said to you. I didn't even have to tell onyou that you didn't take your camera to the Mini Bash even after I reminded you.

Pat, Do you think our posts are down because it is spring and more people are going out on family outings, it's almost summer.

There are a lot of graduations going on and other things. Savannah has a gymnastics meet on the 22nd, it is her first one, She has been in gymnastics since she was 4 yrs. old.

Karma how nice to see you here bright and early this morning. So happy that you will be around more. Hope you sell lots of Mary Kay.

Janet, you are selling your business Huh? Is Darrell Retiring?? What are your plans after it is sold?

Pat I posted 2 new photos of Bebe in "The Hiding Place" thread after you and Janet posted there.

Papa John

Good morning everyone.  Is this Friday already?  Time is going by so fast.

Karmat, I'm glad that at least you look forward to your job in July.  I can remember when I was a young boy the time of depression when so many people were out of work.  Things are not that bad today but for a person who is out of work it is just as bad.

I am retired now but sometimes there isn't much difference between retirement and being unemployed.  Fortunately with our Social Security we get along fine.

QuoteFrom Ria:  FAITH

Faith does not expect
to have all questions answered...
Faith celebrates the search
and rejoices in life's journey.

Ria, thank you for this verse.  It is so true that faith causes us to believe even though we DON'T know all the answers.

Heb 11:1  Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Heb 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.  (NIV)

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

ON THE NUMBER OF POSTS:  I agree with Al, don't focus on the number of posts.

"I know, I know," we receive confirmation of "How we're doing" by people's praise...errrr....posts.

We can't help it, we're just that way and funny thing, God made us that way.  Whatta joke he played on us.  Jus kiddin, jus kiddin.

Think about it....God made us, right?  And God doesn't make mistakes, right?

So if He made us and He doesn't make mistakes.....Then when He created us, desirous of praise from our fellow man, He did it for a purpose.

When our fellow men do not fulfill our need for a pat on the back....who gives us one?  RIGHT!

I said all that to say this....one Sunday, I had taught the worst Sunday School class I had ever taught.  I walked out of that class feeling lower than an ant in a ditch.

I wasn't going to quit, but I sure was discouraged and feeling very bad over my failure to connect to anyone that day (or so I thought.)

After church, a person came up to me and told me it was a very good class.  She also explained how it was and why.  Now, instead of being a failure (or so I thought), I'm soaring!!!

So, why was I so dependent on personal praise?  It was what I had to use as a gage to let me know how I was doing.

And to be blatiently honest and bear my soul, I want people to like me and what I do.....

SO PAT, what does that say to you?  Not much, except that I too, am pretty much like you.  In that I want things that I'm involved in to succeed.  I want to do great things for Him.

And while the number of posts is a gage to success, it can be miss leading.  Maybe, just maybe...someone read something on this site....and never responded to it....and now, you'll never know it....until THAT DAY.

I think of the Ray Boltz song, "Thank You."
"Thank you, for giving to the Lord."  That kid that was saved because of money you gave towards the mission field...that invitation that you gave in Sunday School....The life that you lead by example (and not necessarily by words you speak)

I think that we will be greatly surprised to see the effect of things we have done...on future generations.

My Great Great Grand Uncle,a Methodist Minister, is seeing the fruits of his ministry three generations later.  Just as I hope to see that my efforts affected lives.

Pat, you affect lives, whether you know it or not.  Keep on keepin' on.

Sorry this post is so long, but I guess I save up my writin's too long.

Time for a laugh or two
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where their
family member lay gravely ill.
Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber. "I'm afraid I'm
the bearer of bad news," he said as he surveyed the worried faces.
"The only hope left for your loved one at th! is time is a brain
transplant.
It's an experimental procedure, very risky but it is the only hope.
Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the
brain yourselves."
The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a great
length of time, someone asked, "Well, how much does a brain cost?" The
doctor quickly responded, "$5,000 for a male brain, and $200 for a
female brain."
The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding
eye contact with the women, but some actually smirked. A man unable to
control his curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask,
"Why is the male brain so much more?"
The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the entire
group, "It's just standard pricing procedure. We have to mark down the
price of the female brains, because they've actually been used."

Pat ~ CP hasn't changed.  All of us have changed.  Doing more because of the season is my reason.  I know I am super busy right now with this landscaping and getting ready for my Small Groups meeting next week.  Hopefully things will calm down after that for me.

Even today is busy.  Dennis and Jerry are outside working on the landscaping.  I am ready to take Ivalou and SIL, Barb, to a cousins house for lunch.  There we will have lunch with other lady cousins.  I am anxious to go because cuzzin' Marilyn and retired minister hubby lives in a huge house in the Geist area...the muckety-muck district!!!  I have no idea why a retired couple needs a two-story, full basement, four-bedroom home... ???  Perhaps I will find out today.  But then two of their children and grandchildren do live out of state.

That was an awesome post, Fast Eddie.   I agree, we feel like we need that praise from a person to feel like we did or are doing good.

(Soni loves praises)  ;D

I read most everyones post on here, just sometimes I get so busy I can't post to them all, so I just leave it be sometimes.

Etta Sue~I hope you are taking before and after pictures of your landscaping job.  :-\
