JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.  Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not.
Isaiah 35:3-4

The malady of the day is not so much physical overwork. "The sleep of a laboring man is sweet" (Eccl. 5:12).

It is worry, anxiety and stress that overwhelm our lives and often prevent sleep.

Yet broken arms and legs attract far more sympathy than anxious and broken hearts.

Look out today for some believers who need encouragement and strength with a word from the Lord.
--Brian Russell

A little word of kindness spoken
--a motion or a tear--
Has often healed the heart that's broken
and made a friend so dear.
Then deem it not an idle thing
a pleasant word to speak;
The face you wear, the thought you bring,
a heart may heal or break.
John Greenleaf Whittier

Here's a lovely hymn by our family friend, Dr. John Moore.

Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary
(Click to hear music)

Words & Music: John M. Moore

Days are filled with sorrow and care,
Heart are lonely and drear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

CHORUS
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

Cast your care on Jesus today,
Leave your worry and fear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

CHORUS
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

Troubled soul, the Savior can see
Ev'ry heartache and tear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

CHORUS
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary

    "Today's featured hymn was writen in 1952 by one of our contemporary song writers, John M. Moore, currently a Baptist pastor and evangelist in Toronto, Canada. The hymn was prompted by an experience that Dr. Moore had while serving as the assistant superintendent of the Seaman's chapel in Glasgow, Scotland, one of tht area's outstanding evangelistic centers. He recalls:

    I wrote 'Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary' after a most interesting experience. The company secretary of a large shipping firm telephoned the Seaman's Chapel and requested that I visit a young merchant seaman who was lying critically ill in a Glasgow hospital. After getting permission from the nursing sister, I went in to visit the young sailor. I talked for a few moments and then put my hand in my case for a tract, not knowing which one I would pull out. It happened to be a tract based on 'Pilgrim's Progress', with a color reproduction of Pilgrim coming to the cross with a great burden on his back. I showed the young seaman this picture and told him the story in brief, adding that Pilgrim's experience had been my experience too. I explained that when I came to the cross of Christ, my burden rolled away and my sense of sin and guilt before God was removed. He nodded his head when I asked him, 'Do you feel this burden on your back today?' We prayed together and never shall I forget the smile of peace and assurance that lit up his face when he said that his burden was lifted!

    Later that night, sitting by the fireside with paper and pen, I could not get the thought out of my mind--his burden is lifted! I started writing, but never for a moment did I imagine that this little hymn would become a favorite throughout the world. Since that time, I hear of people all over the world who are being blessed and saved through the singing of this hymn."

Good morning afternoon night, whatever it may be whereever you may be!!

I thought I had posted on Sunday, but apparently, I just read.  oops.

I hope you all have a marvelous week!

I'm off of here now to do a bit of work so that I can hit the ground running in the morning.

Take care
karmat

You know i love that hymn. We used to sing it in church all the time. It was one of my favorites. As a pianist I sometimes got to pick the worship music. That was a lot of fun and I truly miss that.
We had fun at the zoo just really tired today. I had trouble with my legs for a while and just really needed to come home and rest.
Here are some of our photos from the zoo. Let me know if these links don't work.
Some of the photos are Jason's hotel with the new landscaping. I'm very proud of him.

Dalton still has a headache so remember him in your prayers. I feel so bad for him. He said he didn't want to take a bath anymore. So I will have to see what I can do for him. He gets his staples out next week I think on Friday.

Have a great day all.

GOODMORNING ALL 10.42AM in HOLLAND

PAT thank you very much for the devotional this morning and the nice hymn "Burdens Are Lifted At Calvary", and also for the story about this hymn.
I hope you have had a good night in the basement are there still tornado's where you live?.

RACHELLE i hope and pray that the results of your blood test are good.

LARRY you have put an ask about the deers by the photo's. But the deers they are living in the park it is een very great park they can not come out they are giving no problems they are eating grass and when there not enough grass is there are each day caretakers they are bringing something to eat in the park and they take a look
or the deers are in a good health.
But there are also live deers in freedom in the fields and woods they are a great problem for the farmers and no own may shoot death a deer. We may in Holland not have guns or other weapons in home. But there are people also in Holland they have one. But we are liable to
punishment when we have weapons in home.

SONJA thank you very much for the nice hymn yesterday "There's Just Something About That Name" lovely you are doing the work very good when Pat is away.

There are coming on Sunday so many people in the church a lot are in the wekends in their mobile home's on campings now they are thinking in the summer month with an other church together in one building. Because their have more churches problems in the summer months.

But it is no summer in Holland a lot wind and very cold
on this moment it is 12*C. At the end of the week it shall be warmer they say. Now we wait. But we have the central heating on.

Hi everyone.  I have a very busy day ahead so will do a short posting before leaving for walking at the "Y".  The contractor is coming today and I have to coach the class at the Senior Computer Learning Center.  We have just two classes left, this week and week after next.  The Center is closed next Monday for Memorial Day.

Ria, thanks for explaining about the deer in Holland.  The problem we have is that most of the natural predators of deer, that help maintain the balance of nature, have been eliminated.  Thus there are just too many deer.  Around our cities and towns the housing and business developments are destroying their natural living spots and thus they invade yards and are a danger on the roads.

Etta Sue, glad the tornados missed you and also Pat.  I know those storms can be very scary as I grew up in the midwest.  We are not sheltered from tornados here in Georgia and have had them in our area.  Don't think we are scheduled for any rain today and it is suppose to get close to 90.  Ria, wish I could send you some of the warmth.

Karmat, hope you have a very productive week.  I see you already know it is going to be busy.

Time to get in the car and head up the road.

chris

Hello and good morning Pat, Larry, Ria, Karmat and everyone else on cp.
I'm slowly getting better - but have another week off work, and will hopefully be fully recovered by then. Gosh it does take a long time!
Love to you all

Good morning, friends,

It's great to be here and to experience the great love of Jesus, my Brother.

I thoroughly enjoyed our worship service yesterday morning. Missionaries from Guatemala were with us. They work in the communications area, rather than preach or teach.

Since I'd like to do some behind the scenes work for missions after my retirement, their visit was especially meaningful.

Y'all have a wonderful day today.

We had really strong winds, heavy rains and loud thunder last evening.  My power flickered a few times.  I heard sirens and saw either firetrucks or ambulances on the highway north of me.  I haven't heard why.  Later my house was getting hot and then I remembered that when we have a power outage, I have to turn on the A/C again.

I went to bed late.  I read.  I tossed.  I turned.  I got up.  I watch TV for a couple of hours.  Back to bed at 3:30 a.m.  Up for the day at 7:15 a.m.  Either too much caffeine in a Vanilla Coke or too long of a nap at Jerry's yesterday.  I should sleep good tonight.

I am going for a blood draw this afternoon.  That should be fun!

So, Etta, are you going to use pencils, markers or charcoal to draw that blood? :-)

My son slept late (yea!!!!) and hit the ground running.  Right now, he is playing in his room, so I'm here.  We will see how long it lasts!
<one potty interruption>
Anyway.  Something i was thinking about this morning before I got out of bed.

Thank you God for today.
Yesterday is gone.  I can't change anything about it.  I can only learn from it and not make the same mistakes.
Tomorrow is not here.  I can't predict what is going to happen in the morning.  I can only do the best today to make sure that tomorrow I'm not regretting mistakes I make today.
Thank you God for today.

I guess it was important to me, because sometimes I get hung up on trying to "fix" yesterday, or fretting over tomorrow, and completely forget that I have things I need to do "today."

Talk at youns later!

Janet

Another Monday, another work week starting.  Even for those of us who do not work away from home, there is always work to be done.  Have you ever thought about how life would be without the blessing of work?  I don't think I would like it!  Of course, we can always find something to do, to help others.

Pat and Etta Sue, glad the storms weren't any worse.  On TV, they showed so many storms and tornadoes in Iowa and that area.  We have no basement here, so I hope the tornadoes stay away!  We can go up to the big house and get in the basement there, but would need a bit of time in order to get Beth there with us.

Ria, I enjoy your little poems so much.  As for having guns, that is one freedome we still have here, but the liberals are fighting a continual battle wanting to take that away from us.  They will have a fierce battle on their hands in this part of the country, for sure!

Etta Sue, I haven't mentioned it lately, but I do so enjoy your little quotes at the end of your posts.  Thanks!

Oops!  I posted before I finished!  (Accidentally.)

I wanted to say that I hope little Dalton's head feels much better today, and that the fear caused by his accident will be taken away.  Might I suggest you pray with him about this?  I'm sure you have already done that. :)  I looked at your zoo pictures, very nice!

Karma, you do stay on the run, don't you?  I remember those days when my kids were little.  Precious memories, but some days I was too tired to care.  :-\

Larry, hope you have a great day today.  Your plans for the renovation sound good, and I hope you are able to get a good price for the work.

Hi Pat!  Hope you are having sunny skies and calm weather today.

Hello to Marilyn, Chris, and Ruth Ann.  Blessing to all of you today.

Hi, all!  Just doing the lunch break thing and thought I would pop in with a note.

It really sounds like everyone's life has just accelerated.  It really amazes me how Karma and I both were once able to find time to spend a couple of hours almost every day on the Internet in some fashion, and now that time is just non-existent.  I think others here have the same problem.  I don't think it's just the "summertime" thing; I honestly think we're all seeing the results of Satan "piling more and more" on us to occupy our time.  It's harder and harder to stay focused and still be able to relax, for me.  But, maybe it's just me :)

I hope all of you have a good day.  I'm going to focus on focusing, and I don't mean photographically :)

Bye for now!

Hello Everyone-
Today has been a very busy day for me and productive! My husband and I came up with a plan this weekend and got off today with that new plan. As most of you know we homeschool-and our children are a little behind so we will have summer school-I get up every morning and have the kids up and fed-by the time my husband gets home -he takes the older two and schools them for me-(I am so blessed). And I school the younger two.
This worked well for us today. We will school 4 days out of the week-Monday and Tuesdays-take wensdays off for Family time and then Thursdays and Fridays.
We were through with school by noon today..I got up at 7:20 and was able to get the house cleaned. It has been a nice day.
Shawnee-let Dalton know I am praying for him..and will pray that the Lord removes that fear from him.
I haven't heard anything yet on the results of my test. I will let you know when I hear something.
Thank You for your prayers.
Rachelle
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on thy own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct thy paths.

Hi Everyone...

Well, I had about 1 1/2 hours sleep last night.  It really sounded as if a steam engine was going around and around the outside of the house spraying high pressure water at the windows as it went!  Geordie followed the noise barking all the way.  What a night.  We spent it in the basement again but I mostly read or listened to a CD.  It was a terrible night. Seems calm enough now but just got another weather alert that thunder storms are still in the area.  The little "ditch" at the back is like a might rushing river right now.

Here's a good hymn for the time we've been having... ;o)

Till the Storm Passes By
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Mosie Lister

Mark 4:39
"And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,
Peace be still.  And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."

In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face,
While the storm howl above me, and there's no hiding place.
'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try,
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by"
But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

When the long night has ended and the storms come no more,
Let me stand in Thy presence on the bright peaceful shore;
In that land where the tempest, never comes, Lord, may I
Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Pat, a most apt hymn for these last few days.   :D

Last night was even more spectacular than the night before.  This time, at about 1:00 a.m., the storm was right over us for about 20 minutes with almost constant lightning and rolling, crashing thunder.  Just fantastic!   The line from How Great Thou Art kept running through my mind:  "...I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed..."  I just love a good thunderstorm.  (Of course, we haven't had any tornado threats and that would probably change my mind.   ;D)  There were a couple of much less intense storms later during the night that I didn't bother getting up to watch.

Papa John

Pat, the song "Til the Storm Passes By" is certainly appropriate for you and others who are in harms way during this stormy period.  It is a beautiful song.

Titus 3:1-7

1   Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good,
2   to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.
3   At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.
4   But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,
5   he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

6   whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7   so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.  (NIV)

When all the storms of life are over we can be sure that by the kindness and love of God we will have been kept safe for eternity.

Hi Everyone:
We are thsnkful to be home from Michigan safe and sound.  After reading Pat's posts about the storms that were here in Guelph, I am so thankful that our basement keep dry!  It is a finished basement, complete with an apartment that we rent out.

The drive home from Michigan was scarry enough.  One road that we normally take (and the only route that we knew), was completely washed out.  Fortunately there was a pick-up truck just ahead of us, and when Norm saw all the trouble he was having just trying to get through the water, Norm was able to turn around and find another way to come home.  A trip that would normally take us 4 hours, took close to 6 hours!

We thanked the Lord for His watchful care over us.

I hope little Dalton is doing better, Shawnee., and that you are feeling well today.

Rachelle: I can't imagine home schooling.  I give you credit.  I don't think I could have done it.  I was always glad to see them off to school.

Al:  Well...how many came out to the evening service?

Marilyn:  I love Swiss chard....its one of my favourite vegetables., that and spinach.!, and of course, they are almost the same.

Etta Sue:  I hope you were able to get a good nights sleep.  Please tell Jerry I was asking for him.  He hasn't posted for awhile.

Chris and Margit:  How are you doing?  Whats the weather like where you are?

I thought we were getting another electric storm., but its FIRECRACKERS!!!  Its the Victoria day holiday here., we have a park nearby, and thats where they are being let off!

Well, I'm off to check out the photos., and will be back later!
