Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
Philippians 4:11

For his flight home, my friend's comfortable aisle seat was taken by another person. As the plane was about to take off, my friend was hurried to a crammed section near the back, right beside the engine.

How quickly most of us would have complained and demanded something better!

But this person quietly settled into his new seat and started talking about the Lord to the man beside him. Before the plane landed, that stranger became a child of God!

As we go into today, let's think twice before we start complaining.

Our unexpected circumstance may turn out to be the brightest part of our day!
--Brian Cretney

Oh help me learn the lesson, Lord,
Your ways are higher than mine,
You see the total picture,
so to Your will I now resign.

As many of you know, Neil over at Photo-Sense has been kind enough to let our members post photos on his site and then link to Christian Photographers so that we can all enjoy seeing them.

I'd like to encourage you to PLEASE POST COMMENTS IN SOME OF THE OTHER MEMBERS PHOTOS!  It's so nice to be able to post our photos there and it's nice to see that some people from other countries have been kind enough to comment on our photos and I'm sure it's pleased us greatly.  Let's return the favour.

So, let's return the favour and comment in many of the other members' areas.  Let's say that for every photo you upload there, let's try to comment on 2 other member's photos.  Tell them what you like about their photo or how you'd change it or improve it if you really think it could be improved.

This will be our way of thanking Neil for allowing us to use his bandwidth!

Well, actually, PAT ... I'm not a photographer and I don't use those other sites so maybe I should just keep my mouth shut.   ???   :-X

Often, as time permits, I look at all the wonderful photos posted on different sites, but not being a member I can't post comments.   :-[   :-\

QuoteHi Jane:  Sometimes I want to come in here and just say "Hi Jaywalker".  That was a cool name!!  We had a great time at that bash, didn't we!
You can say "Hi Jaywalker" any time you wish .... that's still my name!  See?  J. Walker   :P  And, yup we sure did have a lot of fun at the PA/NY bash.  I'm so glad I got to meet you and hang out with you for those few days.  I don't stray too far from home any more, though.  I tell people I don't need to travel any more 'cause I've found my stopping place!   :D

By the way ... I think I made the #1 spot for the day!! WhooHoooo   [after our fearless leader, that is]
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi, Jane.  Looks like we're both out browsing now. :)

I know the closing of the church is really painful.  I'm one of those Jane mentioned who haven't found another place to fellowship yet.  Jane also.  I know our Father is so in control, but we are not immune to the pain of loss or feeling lost.  I'm so glad He works that into what He is doing in us and for us.  Jane has been so effected by all that's happened at the church. Being on the board has put her and her character on the front line.  I know you are just plain tired, dear Jane....emotionally and physically.  I saw your eyes fill more than once today when we had coffee.  "Lord, give my sister Your own strength and peace."  I love you, Bestest.

Shawn, I had that book.  I had the workbook.  I really liked it, and as usual, If I like it, I think of someone else who would too, and end up giving it away.  It is a great book, and I found the same as you......that in learning more about God, in knowing him more, you are drawn to being aware of His presence in greater measure.

Larry, what neat story about the tomato man.  Such an original way to help your grandchildren.  I imagine that story will flow through his families lives long after he's gone.
He sounds like a neat man.

I tried to remember and post in response to comments...but once I turn the page, I've forgotten who said what.  Sorry.

Pat, I've not been to Neil's site yet.  I know what he did is such a nice thing to do, and I'll try to get there soon.....but not tonight.

I'm about ready to turn in for this day.  I had my grandson(3 yrs) Kaleb, from 5 pm (picked him up from pre school) until 8.  He's as good as can be, but still I get tired.  He has all my attention when he's here, and loves it.  He's always saying, "I love you, gramma Nita".  How precious to hear this from his little mouth.
I know he means it.

Soni, I sure like Power In The Blood.  I forget who it is, but someone did it in a more modern version, slowed, and every word seemed more meaningful.  It's funny how we get used to hearing something and after awhile it's so familiar that we don't really hear it...it's just there. THen someone changes it a bit, and it catches our attention again.  And then again....haha.....maybe it's just me. :)

Have a blessed rest and wonderful day.

If you said something to me and I didn't respond......it's because I forgot.  I didn't mean to ignore anyone.   :)

1 John 4 : 21 NIV
And He has given us this command:
Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Some things are very simple.
We can't love God and refuse to love each other.
This is not hard to understand.
On the other hand some of our
kinfolks in the Lord are just down
right hard to love because they can be so difficult.
But, we need to remember who we were when
Christ died for us -- powerless, ungodly, sinners,
enemies (Romans 5:6-11) -- yet God loved us
and sent Jesus to save us.
So before whe whine about our "hard-to-live-with"
fellow Christians, we had better give thanks that
God loved us when we were sinners.
Then we need to thank God for His grace by
being more loving each other.

PRAYER...
Almighty God,
please give me the strength,
compassion, and courage
to love my fellow Christians
as you have loved me.
In Jesus name i pray.    AMEN

Bye love Ria

Good morning - I think the new medication is making me exceptionally tired. I slept until 7:45 this morning! Good rest, but now I'm on double - no, TRIPLE time to try to make it to work.

Yikes!!

Have a good day.

Hello, all of you!  I'm posting from work; our internet connection at home was completely on the blink last night (At least part of the time).  :(  It's getting to be a real pain.

A quick prayer request....  Singer George Beverly Shea, who most people know from the Billy Graham Crusades, is hospitalized here in Asheville with a possible heart problem.  He's 95, and is a favorite singer of a lot of people in this area.  Probably in other areas as well.  I'm sure he would appreciate our prayers.

Karma is incredibly busy testing homeschoolers again today (as she has been most of the week).  I hope we don't get too frustrated with our tiredness to enjoy the weekend.

Then my car tore up last night :(

Oh, well.  At least I have other cars!!!  Thank God for that.

You guys all have a good day!

nards

I hope everyone has a good day.
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

NARDS:  Wow, I didn't realize that Bev Shea was that old.  It seems like he has been around forever.  I sure will pray for him.

When the B.G. Crusade came to Detroit in 1976, we went to a church gathering where B.G. spoke.  We took my wife's sister as she is a dear fan of Bev's and had all of his records.

After the meeting, we left and were waiting for traffic to clear in the parking lot.....Bev Shea walked right in front of our car and my sister-in-law got so-ooo excited that Bev Shea was walking right in front of her.  (smile smile)

NOW TO PUT THAT IN PERSPECTIVE:
Won't it be exciting to see all of the saints in Heaven?  Won't it be exciting to see Jesus?

nards:  So sorry to hear the news about George Beverly Shea.  My father loved his songs and I really enjoy a little cassette I bought last year.   His voice is a great memory - I had no idea he was in his 90's.

Jane:  When a church in Seattle was burned to the ground by an arsonist - the congregation met on Sunday and declared themselves the church - people are the church.  So, whatever happens it must have been planned and there are good things and good deeds to do now.  I can certainly see why you have grief over losing your pastor friend and your comforting place to gather as well.

Carol

Papa John

Nards, thank you for the message about George Beverly Shea.  I expect he is known the world over for his beautiful singing voice.

I'm sorry I didn't get in here yesterday.  We did have a busy day.  We went over to Robbie's house to see the new baby Elsie.  She is beautiful.  I held her in my lap and she said, "I love you Papa John."  Well. . . at least I felt like she was saying that and I hope to live long enough to hear her say it to me.

Pat, thanks for the devotional.  Contentment is a great blessing God gives to his children.

1 Tim 6:6-11
6   But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7   For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.
8   But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
9   People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.
10   For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
11   But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.  (NIV)

Thank Nards for the news about George Beverley Shea...  He was born here in Canada and we cherish him.

Here's a hymn that he certainly made popular the whole world over...

I'D RATHER HAVE JESUS
(Click to hear music)

I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or land;
I'd rather be led by His nail-pierced hand:

refrain:
Than to be the king of a vast domain or be held in sin's dread sway!
I'd rather have Jesus than anything this world affords today.

I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause;
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than world-wide fame;
I'd rather be true to His holy name:

He's fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He's sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He's all that my hungering spirit needs -
I'd rather have Jesus and let Him lead:

At the age of 23 George Beverly Shea (1909 - ) had a hard decision to make. He could accept a job offer in a secular singing position in New York City with a great salary and wide respect;  or he could continue singing in
churches and for Christian radio programs.

While sitting at the family piano, he started to prepare a special hymn for the Sunday service.  On the piano he found a poem by Mr. Rhea F. Miller.  He immediately began to compose the music for the poem and used the song that same morning in his father's church service.

He also used those words to direct his life and has shared his song, "I'd Rather Have Jesus"  with audiences around the world.

I'd Rather Have Jesus

Forty years ago Bev Shea was attending the Bible School in Ottawa (Ontario) where I was teaching. He loved to sing. After more training in New York City he was given an audition at one of the radio stations and was offered a contract.

He asked that he might sing Gospel songs. He was told that he might use one occasionally, but he would have to use the songs on the Hit Parade.

What would he do? His mother was praying.

On Saturday night she placed a poem on the piano. In the morning he composed a tune for it. One verse was:  "I'd rather have Jesus than silver and gold: I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide fame; I'd rather be true to His holy Name!"

     Bev turned down the contract.

A short time later he was offered a position with a Chicago radio station where he might use the Gospel songs he loved. While there he met Billy Graham.

The rest of the story is well-known.

Thanks NITA ... you're such a good friend -- my BESTEST!!   :D  You're right: I am very tired but I also KNOW the Lord is my strength!  He will carry me through this and we'll all be better for the experience.

That church still had a pastor.  After Bev died things just seemed to go awry, and it came down to only a handful of people attending.  Our pastor was given a leave of absence while we worked through the issues and, after 5 weeks, the decision was made that I quoted earlier.  I've never been through anything quite like this before.  Hopefully, never again!   :(

All through this horrendous job of clearing out the building -- two stories and a huge attic filled with years and years of accumulation -- (A family lived upstairs for several years and a lot of their personal stuff is still there, besides the things "stored" in several rooms, refrigerators and other large items).  All this clean up has been on the shoulders of a few women--who are not in good health or strong -- we have no men to help!  This morning I heard from another board member that she had spoken to the district superintendent and he advised her to have us take a few days off and he'd round up some "strong bodies" to complete the task.  Finally!!   :o
We should have contacted him two weeks ago!   ::)
Anyway, after we are worn out, we have the weekend off and can take a break!

Hi everyone.  Just wrote a posting but then got called away and when I posted I had timed out so lost it--UGH!  I know to do a quick copy to the clipboard but didn't do it this time and paid the price.

I will try to be brief today as wrote such a long posting yesterday.  Sorry to hear about George Beverly Shea being hospitalized.  I am also concerned about Billy Graham, who fractured a hip a few days ago.  He is scheduled for a Crusade in Kansas City shortly and wonder if he will be up to attending.

Pat, that was interesting background of Mr. Shea.  I had not read that before.  Obviously God was providing the direction in his life and has blessed him with a very long and productive life.

Jane, sorry to hear of your church disbanding at your location and that it is very hard on those left with the responsibility of seeing to the final details.  Sure your efforts are appreciated.

We did get the air conditioning installed upstairs and it is very nice.  The contractor is now putting on the first coat of paint on the closet we are having built up there and it should be finished up early next week.  Then just have some cabinet work to finish and he will be done here.  This contractor is a fine Christian man and I feel blessed to have been lead to him.  We know his parents from our church and have sung in the choir next to him until recently when he had to drop out do to surgery on his eyes.

We are going to our step grandson's high school graduation this evening.  He has attended a school which is about an hours drive from us up in the Georgia mountains (at least think it is the mountains).  Towards the end of June he will go into basic training for the National Guard at Fort Knox and will be there for about 26 weeks.  He then plans to transfer into the regular Army.  He has had 4 years of ROTC and has loved it and that has been go good for him to have that structure in his life.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Marilyn

Good Morning: Sorry I wasn't here sooner. I was busy  uninstalling programs no longer needed now that I have AOL as my isp.

I had a nice note from Margit with 3 photos attached. They are still  under the influence of "Jet Lag" although Chris did go to work. They will be posting the photos as they go through them and resize them.

My new neighbors are already moving in a week early. I saw them yesterday but have not met them yet. Maybe today if I see them. I will be going over there this afternoon to pick some more Swiss Chard and radishes from the  garden. .

Pat I have changed my aim ID in my profile, didn't need 2 of them.

Hello to everyone. Hi Nita haven't seen you in awhile.

God Bless you all

Soni and Shawn, isn't it wonderful how you see a scripture just at the time you need it most?  Or a song that just blesses you at that moment?

Abby and I went to swim, then I got my frome order called in, made some copies of old family photos for my sisters, fixed lunch.......well, it's a busy day around here.

Darrel is feeling bad, congestion and low grade fever.  He finished tearing down that old trailer of Beth's, there was a lot of mice dirt, so I am concerned about the possibility of hantavirus.  Prayers appreciated for him.

Hi Nita....I used to have the same problem as you did about forgetting what someone has said when posting and then Pat told me how to do it.    You should open up 2 windows. One in New Every Morning and one to post.   Then you can go back and forth.   You see what someone has said and then you click on your task bar that says post and post what you what.   Then go back to NEM.     It works great.

Nards..I will pray for George Beverley Shea for sure.  What a wonderful old saint.

Yes Eddie it will be wonderful to see all the saints from the beginning of time until now in heaven.   That will take a lot of time just getting caught up.   But I agree, JESUS will be the one we all will adore.  Wow!

Great story about George Shea Pat.   I was in a small church in Richmond Hill where he was singining.   In spite of him being such an important person, he was so sweet and friendly.   Godly man.

A few free minutes before it's time to start supper and since I missed yesterday entirely  :-\,  I though't I'd better stop in.

Every year two pairs of Canada geese raise their young on ponds near us and I've been watching and watching the last few weeks.  We've spotted them three or four times in the past couple of weeks and then last night on my way home from a meeting there they were - both families - crossing the road in a single line, right in front of me.  One adult led, followed by 6 fluffy little goslings, then two more adults, four goslings and a final adult.  Of course, I didn't have my camera!   :'(  Would have been a perfect time for a picture, too, since I had to stop to let them cross.

We got off early from work today so I thought I would come home and take some pictures of my house & yard.
Now if I can only send them to Pat...... ::) and ask her to post for me.

I got your message Ria and looked to find your pictures..You really have a big home and I know you will be sooooo proud of the painting and improvements you are making.

At church about 8 years ago we studied the book, Experiencing God   by Henry Blackaby and it was quite any eye opener for me, too.   Soon after our course ended our pastor turned in his resignation.  We were better prepared to deal with the agony and frustrations that go along with losing a pastor.  I know we all grew closer to the LORDand waited for Him to show us where He was working so that we would join Him there.

Now I am doing a series called MasterLife with about 9 others.   This involves a LOT of memory verses so that we can be better prepared as God's witnesses.  My feeble 64-yr old brain is getting quite a workout.

Now, I'm off to see some of the other posts.

A blessed evening to all.
