JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

How To Know The Sufficiency of Jesus

    Hebrews 12:2 says...
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

    John 6:35 says...
And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

    Morning Devotional...

The Lord is on my side
    Psalm 118:6

This I know; for God is for me.
    Psalm 56:9

If God be for us, who can be against us?
    Romans 8:31

Blessed privilege--to know that the Lord is "for us"!

    Who can be against us?

    Who can condemn us?

Who can separate us from Him?

Though the world be against us, Satan and all his demons attack us, and our feeble faith fail us, we can rejoice in the promise of God. "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Heb. 13:5).

"I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end" (Jer. 29:11).

"What can man do unto me?" (Heb. 13:6).
    --Wm. Gustafson

A mind at perfect peace with God,
oh, what a word is this!
    A sinner reconciled through blood;
    this, this indeed is peace.

                          THE GIFT OF A DAY

                                     Lord of life...
this is the gift of a day
                             which You have made -
                                     i rejoice in it.
May all i think or say or do
Throughout each moment of the day
                              be rooted in and nourished

    MATTHEW 6 : 1
"Be careful not to do your 'acts of
    righteousness' before men, to be
seen by them. If you do, you will
have no reward from your Fahter
    in Heaven.

Compassion is not for personal glory,
just as it is not a private internal emotion.
    Christian compassion must always motivate
us to act in the best interest and for the
greater good of those in need, without
calling attention to ourselves or our sacrifices.
God provides what we need to bless others
and takes care of the reward when our goal
is to please Him and to be used by Him
to bless others who are in need.

    PRAYER...

    Loving God and tender Shepherd,
use me each day to be a blessing
    to someone in need.
Please open my eyes and ears to
see those around me who need
    emotional support or financial help.
Please give me the courage to bless
them and lead them closer to You.
In Jesus name i pray  AMEN.

    Bye love Ria

    Carol

Good to be reminded that we will never be forsaken.  This is the message that sustained me through several critical times in this lifetime.

Pat:  Thank you for the message that could be a daily message as far as I am concerned.  Oh, sorry that your Calgary team lost - isn't it strange to have hockey in the south?

Ria:  I didn't realize that there were concentration camps in your country as well.  What dark days in history.  None of us know what it must have been like to be without freedom.

I have not seen Jenny posting or have I missed her?

Larry:  Thinking of you at this moment and do hope you find out what caused your short spell of dizziness.  Don has gone to the university for a hearing test - time to bite the bullet and buy hearing aids.  He has been reluctant because most people say it only increases noise all around.

    Carol

Great devotions Pat and Ria.  Thank you!

QuoteBy Carol~Don has gone to the university for a hearing test - time to bite the bullet and buy hearing aids.  He has been reluctant because most people say it only increases noise all around.

Carol, it isn't so bad.  That is how I hear all the time.  It can be a bit noisey in public places.  Hope it all works out for him.

The family and I are going to go folfing today.  They built a new folf(frisbie golf) park here.  We will probably do some more clean and getting the garage sale ready.

    Be back later.

    Good Morning Everyone!

It's a lovely sunny day here.  You wouldn't know that it had rained so heavily yesterday.  There are many little villages and towns almost flooded but hopefully with today's nice sunny weather this can be abated here in Ontario.

I've been having a lot of fun with my photo site.  I like that way I can share the URL with my family and they can enjoy the photos and leave comments.

Enjoy your day "folfing", Soni.  Never ever heard of that before.

Etta Sue, enjoy your evening.  It's so good that you are able to go to little Bible study groups like this.  Just wonderful!

Carol, I haven't forgotten your email about Ireland.  Last week I was so busy that it did leave my mind then.  I'm not sure if I can help you much but I do know that ANY VISIT to Ireland will be worth it.  And if you can get up to the North and do the Antrim Coast Road, you'll never forget it.

Ria, I so enjoy reading your devotionals.  Today's especially touched my heart.

This past weekend wasn't a special day here in Canada but we do it all in November.  November 11 is a very big day here for remembering our veterans.

Now, let's get some of our people back in here posting that haven't done so lately.  Drop them a PM and tell them you miss them.

    Papa John

      Good morning.

It looks like we are going to have a beautiful day here in Middle Tennessee after some stormy weather especially Saturday night when we had high winds and tornadoes.  Our neighbor lost one of his big trees.  A seven year old little girl was killed in a neighboring county.

On a sad note, some of our church members lost a grandson yesterday who drowned in a private pool.  It is hard to imagine anything more devestating than this.  Many of our members gathered at their home last night for prayer.

    1 Pet 1:3-9
3   Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4   and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-- kept in heaven for you,
5   who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
6   In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
7   These have come so that your faith-- of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-- may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

8   Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
9   for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.  (NIV)

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Good Morning. Thanks Pat and Ria for the devotionals this morning.

I have been here earlier to read and now to post my good mornings to every one who will be here today and those who have already been here.

Tonight at the church there is going to be a Cookie Lee Jewelery show,  30% of the profits will be going toward the purchase of the Power Point system the Worship Team is going to buy for the  church.

We are also having a fireworks  booth in the parking lot at the church to raise money to buy books for the missionaries.

Abby and I had fun swimming this morning, and my sister Jeanie was there, too.  I have been encouraging her to come and exercise in the water, to help her joint pain and mobility problems.  It might help her lose some weight too, which she needs even more than I do.

Several of us seem to be thinking of hearing problems.  I am noticing I am having trouble understanding what Abby says lately.  I had my hearing checked about three years ago, he said I had some loss, but not enough that it would be worth the problems of wearing a hearing aid.  But he also said to have it checked once a year, and it has been longer.  Darrel is having a lot of trouble hearing with his right ear, and his right hearing aid was the one Beth's dog chewed up a while back.  So both of us need to go get checked.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of two precious children in your area, Papa John.  I agree that losing a grandchild would be absolutely devastating.  Prayers go upward for the parents and grandparents.  We had a similar situation a number of years ago here in our town.  A toddler fell into his grandparents hot tub and technically drowned.  They were able to resuscitate him, but he was never able to swallow food after that, nor walk or talk, etc.  He lived about three and a half years longer, then died of some complication.  It was a terrible time for the family.

It is another really lovely day here today, not hot and not windy!  God is so good!  Last evening, Abby and I went for a walk down in the pasture, looking at animal and bird tracks, wild flowers, cactus blooms, etc.  All the grandkids have enjoyed doing that with me.  We are making memories.

I'm so sorry to hear about the awful accident near Niarara Falls.  We must live ready to go at any moment, mustn't we?

I wish I weren't having so many photo problems.  I got some nice photos I would post, if I could find them.  :'(  Oh, well.......some day Pat and I will both have some free time and she can probably help me sort things out.  In the meantime, I am frustrated, big time! :-\

SOME neighbors of my grandparents' gave them a pumpkin pie as a holiday gift. As lovely as the gesture was, it was clear from the first bite that the pie tasted bad. It was so inedible that my grandmother had to throw it away. Ever gracious and tactful, she still felt obliged to send the neighbors a note. It read "Thank you very much for the pumpkin pie. Something like that doesn't last very long in our house."

Janet~I am sorry you are having problems with your pictures.  grrr...I understand how you feel.  I wish I could drive down there and help you.  Some day I will fly with Chandraya down there and spend a few days with you.  We have been talking about it for awhile now.  Just need to figure out how Mike is going to care for Lila Mae for 2 or 3 days with out me. hehehe...

    Liz

Good morning everyone.  I enjoyed the devotionals and have also used those verses to get thro' hard times.  Have often wondered about Christians who try to deliberately hurt one another.  Do they still believe that?

We are having a cloudy day and might get some rain.  BC is in serious trouble from a shortage of water and restrictions are becoming very strict.  So much building going on and people moving here....no thought given to the water and power supply.  Even small towns who have never had a shortage are now on rationing.

I am moving around again and hope to soon start normal activities.  The kids have put up two nice fence panels to give me some privacy and they will need to be painted.  Their neighbors are always complaining about something and really hurt my SIL by saying they didn't approve of fences.  (It 's not a fence)  Have complained for eight years about the beautiful hedge in the back yard....can't spy on things this way!  Also that the squirrel feeder made too much noice when the lid goes down,,,,,and on and on.  These are people that try to get Wendy to go to their church!!  Guess I am a little miffed.  The kids do so much to help those two people and their selflishness is beyond belief.  Does little to enhance their testimony....

So, on to lighter things.  Like Miss Squeek.  She certainly brightens up the day.  Etta Sue, what do you feed your cats?  This one seems to look with longing at people food, as if that was part of her diet.  I used to give my cat cooked chicken livers every little while.  Is that good or bad?  They keep changing the rules for pets and humans.

Must go have lunch and try taking a walk if the rain holds off...Hope our Calgary team does better in the coming game.  Both teams are giving it their all and it will be a close fight for that cup.

    God Bless,
    Liz

    Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just going to leave a brief message as haven't felt very well since I went walking this morning.  I went later today with Pat and think some of my medicine had worn off.  We did go to the church this afternoon as this was Calvin Cove day.  Just going to take it easy this evening and should be as good as new tomorrow.

    Al Moak

Larry - sure hope you do feel "as good as new" tomorrow AM.  But if you do, please tell me how you did it!  "New" was a long time ago, and I've had problems even feeling second-hand lately!  Thankfully, there's a day coming when we actually WILL be "new!"

    Janet

Sonja, you asked about Darrel earlier.  He must feel a lot better today because he went out and dis work in the yard.  I'm looking forward to yours and Chandraya's visit, whenever you can work it out.

Larry, I do hope you feel "good as new" tomorrow!

Liz, those neighbors are defeating their purpose when they talk one way and act another.  Sorry things are uncomfortable for you in that way.

My painting class ladies just left, Abby is asleep, and I need to get some supper, as Darrel is worn out.  See y'all later!

PAT: yesterday, a scripture was mentioned and I meant to get on and ask if you had the hymn in your collection, but we left to visit our daughter before I could do it.

    "I am crucified in Christ
And I no longer live (not exact words)
But Jesus Christ who lives in me."

I did a search on a hymn site with no luck.

When I think of what I was compared to what I have become it is all because Jesus Christ lives in me.

He is not about me, nor near me, not even close by.  He lives IN ME.

Pat - We haven't had a drop of rain here today!  One time Norm was over to the hardware store, just up the road from us., and when he came home, his jacket was soaked!

We didn't have a drop of rain at home., and we were only a five minute drive away......strange eh?

Soni and Janet....you were talking about hearing problems...well Norm did highway driving to work every day for over 30 years with the car window down. (before a/c)., and he is partially deaf in his left ear.

Tonight I was looking over the list of members we have here in C.P.  There are so many who haven't posted for quite awhile.

I plan on sending out some personal messages to see if I can't encourage them to come back and post.

I've just been able to read today's posts. It's so good to hear all the chatter and news both good and bad. Certainly the bad news draws us so much closer to our Master, who sens his Comforter to us when we need comforting the most.

I was up way too early this morning (in to work at 6:40 am) and must be at work very early tomorrow, as well.

Kinda hard on an ole lady.

The doctor wants to see me again - cannot seem to understand why all his potions haven't stopped the dizziness yet.

Fast Edie.  I was going to continue with the verse today, and you beat me to it.  It is a wonderful verse isn't it?  Well I will continue with the next phrase.

I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live yet not I but Christ lives in me,......and the life I now live in the flesh........ That can be a problem to us as we get older.  Larry you speak of not feeling well, and hope to be as good as new tomorrow.  The problem is we are waiting for our eternal bodies and being rid of the flesh.  Don't know about the rest of you but I can't wait for the New Body, with no aches and pains just praising God!

A  man was exploring some caves by the seashore. In one of the caves, he
found a canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone
had rolled up some clay and left them out in the sun to bake. They didn't
look like much, but they intrigued the man so he took the bag out of the
    cave with him.

As he strolled along the beach, to pass the time, he would throw the
clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could throw. He
thought little about it until he dropped one of the balls and it cracked
open on a rock. Inside was a beautiful, precious stone. Excited, the man
started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained a similar
treasure.  He found hundreds of dollars worth of jewels in the 20 or so clay
balls he had left, then it struck him. He had been on the beach a long time.
He had thrown maybe 50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure
into the ocean waves. Instead of hundreds of dollars in treasure, he could
have taken home thousands, but he just threw it away.

You know sometimes, it's like that with people. We look at someone, maybe
even ourselves, and we see the external clay vessel.  It doesn't look like
much from the outside. It isn't always beautiful or sparkling, so we
discount it; we see that person as less important than someone more
beautiful or stylish or well known or wealthy. But we have not taken the
time to find the treasure hidden inside that person by God. There is a
treasure in each and every one of us.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

    Jeanne Lee

Ladybug, that is so true.  We so often tend to judge other people by their appearance.   And we sometimes find the people we most looked up to are just shallow, empty shells and those we were apt to try to avoid turn out to be precious jewels.  Hmmm.  I said "we" but maybe I should just admit I mean "me".   :-\
