JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Grace in the soul is heaven in that soul.
~Matthew Henry~

How To Deal With Lust

    1 Corinthians 6:15-20 says...

Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

    Morning Devotional...

Who can withhold himself from speaking?
    Job 4:2

"Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity" (Jas. 3:5-6).

"For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile" (1 Pet. 3:10).

"Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips" (Ps. 141:3).

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer" (Ps. 19:14).

"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath" (Jas. 1:19).

    Enough said.
    --David Logan

Take My Life, and Let It Be
    (Click to hear music)

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
    Romans 12:1,2

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.

Since the door has come down upon my head, I'm going to quote my post as it was coming.

QuoteThe most joyful thing about the entire "Farewell to Ronald Reagan" was the fact that Jesus Christ was named - as Lord.  May we learn from this that no matter what the liberals may say and do, no matter what the ACLU may say and do - no matter what - we may and ought to stand for Jesus Christ.  When they were singing the Battle Hymn, almost the last words, joyfully and triumphantly sung, were "Let us die to make men free!"  I believe it was an unabashed reference to what we're doing in Iraq.  May we succeed in God's Name.

HAHAHA!  I saw that in the other thread, Al.  Did you think I had locked the door?

It's not even locked yet!  LOL

Well, today (June 12) I celebrate 45 years of being Mrs. Bice. Unfortunately, the husband in our duo was at the riverside to meet President Reagan as he passed over.

I have wonderful memories of a great, strong, christian husband - sang bass in the choir, taught young adult Sunday School class, church treasurer for 14 years, member of The Gideons, loving husband, great father, good provider.

So, while there are days that I am lonely, I have the assurance that we will be with our Lord and Saviour, and our loved ones one day - as said in the eulogies tonight - in God's timing.

    Y'all have a good day.

    Ruth Ann

    Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't been here lately it's been hard for me to post. I went to my doctor appt and I'm back on my meds. They also said I have a cyst that has to be removed that could be cancerous.
    The boys are doing well.

I will write more when I feel better.

    Hugs,

Belated Birthday Greetings Pat.  I was not on the computer in time to post in  today and not on the computer at all on your birthday.  So am posting today in tomorrow...? :P

Have also watched the funeral, etc., for President Reagan.  I was fond of him and found comfort from his words and leadership.  He seemed to combine both strength and gentleness....something that could only have come from his closeness to God.  I also found it amusing that a President would openly admit to being a fan of author Louie La'Mour.  Now that took courage......Can one imagine our late Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau, ever admitting to such eclectic tastes??

Sat patiently in the garden yest. and finally got a picture of a hummingbird, a robin, and a bird in the bath.  Will attempt to post them tomorrow.  Discovered how busy and filled with life the garden is when one is open to the quiet and tuned to the beauty.  Wendy doesn't use any sprays, etc. and it is totally organic.  So much activity from insects of all types...including beautiful colored butterflies.  They are becoming very rare indeed.  She planted special flowers to attract them and plans on using more things to bring them into this wonderous little patch of heaven.

Don't be sad Allan.  When something goes wrong, I always believe 'this too will pass' and it does...God will send the right person at exactly the right time.  Who knows, Chris might even play a part in it happening.......

Time to wish everyone Pleasant Dreams.

    God Bless,
    Liz

In the same way, count yourselves
dead to sin but alive to GOD in
    Christ Jesus.

Just as Jesus died to sin,
    we also died to sin.
    But, simply putting aside
sin isn't going to keep sin away from us.
We must embrance Jesus new life
for us every day, with our hearts
open to the Lord's exciting will for us.
Let's let what is dead remain buried and
    in the past.
Let's live passionately for God with
our eyes focused on Jesus and His
    future for us.

    Prayer...
    Sovereign Lord and Loving Father,
i want the past life of sin to remain
    buried and dead.
Please empower me to vibrant life
that is full of your Spirit and always
    open to your leading.
    Please make Your presence
and Your will plain to me.
In Jesus name i ask it.  Amen

Thanks for today's devotion and for the hymn, Pat. I hadn't thought about that hymn for long time. It fits my life, my running, (take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee), my photography (take my hands and let them move at the impulse of my love).  Our campground got flooded last night after 3.5 inches of rain in the area. A few tent campers at creekside had to move and many RV'ers had to back their rigs up a length as the creek became a lake dominating the entire center of the campground. I thought the whole campground was flat but we must be a few inches higher because it only reached to halfway under our truck, and all we had to move was our firewood pile. I was out taking pictures and a neighbor offered me fifty dollars to do candids of them the rest of the weekend. I'll try to fit that in between grandkids, daughters, sons-in-law, running, and getting ready to pull out tomorrow.... how did I ever fit work into my life??  ???

Good morning!  I'm up and at 'em early today!

Shawnee, sorry to hear about your continuing health problems, and believe God is in control and will prevail in this matter.  You sound like a very positive person, and that makes a great deal of difference.  God bless you.

Rachelle, you are one busy Mom, aren't you?  Well, I was, too, during that period of my life.  And when you look back from the perspective of years, those years will seem to have flown by so quickly you can barely believe it.  Sometimes they seem only a dream.

Good morning, Pat!  Good day to you, Ria.  How are you doing?

Ellie, are you on vacation?  Do you live in your RV full time?  Would you please send some of the excess rain to Kansas?  We could surely use it.

Liz, your little garden sounds lovely, and I look forward to your new photos.

Ruth Ann, it is great that you have such good memories of the years you had with your beloved husband.  And this life is only a little blip on the radar screen of eternity.  You and Pat and Nancy Reagan (if she knows Jesus) will have all of eternity to be with your sweet husbands.  I'm so glad that this life isn't all there is!!

Busy day today, what with taking Beth to Dodge to meet her friend John who is flying in today, going to Boot Hill with them to take pictures, meeting Darrel later so we can go to the birthday party/surprise wedding.  John can drive Beth's car home when they are ready to come, and I will come home with Darrel.

I got a new camera!  I know you will ask, so I'll just tell you-- it's an HP Photosmart 945, 5.3 megapixels, 8x zoom, has the dock to recharge the batteries, and can do more stuff than I have any idea how to use.  It came with a 32 MB card, and I want to buy another larger one as well, for when we go on trips.  It does short video clips, you can email photos from the camera---like I said, more than I know how to operate!  So I have some studying to do!

Time to go put on the coffee and then shower.  I will see you good people tomorrow!  May God watch over and bless you all today.

I was away last evening and I missed President Ronald Reagan's funeral.  When I got home, 20/20 was on so I recorded it to watch this afternoon.  Not to put a damper on the passing of the President but why couldn't everyone talk this great about him while he was alive?  I am praying that he will be known as a President that died from old age (93) rather than a President that died from Alzheimer's.

Okay...enough of doom and gloom.  He was a great President as ALL American Presidents are!  Well, some better than others.

Talk about rain!!!  I was awaken this morning to thunder and darkness and it was 6:30 a.m.  Still thunder and darkness and it is 8:50 a.m.  Lots of rumbling going on out there and lots of rain.  I have to keep an eye on my basement, for sure.

Yesterday a neighbor called and wanted to know if Ivalou and I had anything planned for last evening.  No, not me and I would find out about Ivalou.  So we went to the neighbor's house and played Euchere.  There were 8 of us and it was a very enjoyable evening.  I had forgotten how I liked to play Euchere.

Kaye Don, Barb and Ivalou left at 5:30 a.m. to go to Evansville to see baseball games.  The high school in my area is in the finals.  If they win this morning...(if they play...I don't know what the weather is in Evansville...at the southwest point of Indiana)...then they play again tonight.  So my family may not be home this evening.  It is kind of eerie knowing I am 'home alone' in the neighborhood.

I just caught bits and pieces of the Reagan funeral and I have to say that I felt the emotion of so many when the sun was setting and the camera was much too personal with Nancy Reagan.   The church service was uplifting and lovely to hear "Ode to Joy" (believe it it the right name) song at the end.

Our grands have been visiting and it is too quiet now that they have gone home.  We will be driving down for a family BBQ Sunday afternoon and next week is another celebration.  Can never see the children and grands enough but we do almost drop from exhaustion when we are alone.

Pat Scott:  Thank you for taking on CP.  So many times, I find that anything I think about or want to say just can't be written in SN.  Their political folders are downright awful and filthy name-calling which never gets stopped as long as they call politicans these names.  I don't understand it !

We are dragging a bit today and it is the Saturday to work on the church so will decide if we get there or not - to help paint today.

Good Morning: Thank you for the devotionals Pat and Ria.

The other day when I took Bea shopping I bought a can of Folger's Vanilla Roast coffee. That stuff tastes so good I drank two cups yesterday and today. I usually only drink one cup. My little coffeemaker only makes two cups. I feel like I am really papmering myself by have two cup of great tasting coffee.

Not that y-all wanted to know my coffee habits. TMI

Just stopping in to say hello to you all I will be back later.

I am glad we honor our former Presidents when they are gone. Only in these modern times with TV and 24 hour news have we experienced the coverage like we have had this last week. There was a lot of pageantry when Lincoln was assinated but it was reported in the news papers. There was neither radio nor television back then. I remember when Kennedy was shot everything seemed to stop for a week. T.V., radio, newspapers, and magazines were full of Kennedy. It was a way for us to mourn our fallen President. In any case the funeral is over now and we will hear less and less about Reagan's passing.

When we visited California a few years ago we drove out to the Reagan Library and museum. It was very interesting and I'm glad now that we went because I can better picture that barren but beautiful setting where he is buried.A few years  ago we went to see the Carter library in Atlanta. In both of these Presidential librarys there was a replica of the Oval Office. I imagined I was sitting at that desk. It is the closest I will ever get to being President. I WAS president of our senior class in high school and captain of the football team. We had a very poor football team that year.

    Liz

Nice devotionals this morning and I am now wide awake and able to get the full message.  It is 7:45 A.M. and Squeek is wanting to play.  Keeps calling me to join in the fun.

Marilyn, I often add flavoured coffe to my regular brand.  It certainly gives it added zip.  Didn't know that Folgers made a vanilla one and will check the stores.  We may not get it here on the island.  Have added Dutch Choc. to the one I am presently drinking....yumm!

Janet, I have photosmart 735 and really like the camera.  It is not as powerful as the 935 (or expensive) but is certainly a snap to use.  I bought a battery charger that does four batteries in 30 min. and find that handy.  Photosmart has a nice editing program as well....not as good as Paint Shop-Pro:8, which I have loaded but not explored as yet.  A world of interesting things to learn and try to master!!

Must go now and will come to read later.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  Oh, has anyone read the Mitford Series books, by Jan Karon.  I am reading one and it is a slow but interesting read.  All about an Anglican Minister and his life in the small town of Mitford.  No violence, no vulgar language.....probably bore anyone other than a Christian who looks for meaning in simplicity. Made the New York Times Bestseller list....must be a few of us around. ::)

    God Bless

    Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I just wrote a fairly long message and forgot to do a quick copy before I hit the post button and it had timed out so lost my message.  Sort of takes the "wind right out of my sails".   So I will try again but will be briefer.

Liz, I have read almost all of the Jan Karon books and thought they were a wonderful series to read.  They left you feeling good after you read them and having come from a small town I could relate somewhat to some of the characters.

Shawnee, sure sorry to here of the cyst and do hope it will be beneign.  Hope you will be feeling better shortly.

Janet, your new camera sounds super and will be looking forward to seeing the photos you take with it.  Nice that John is again able to visit with Beth as sure that will be a lift of her spirits.  They obviously care for each other.

Etta Sue, don't wash away up there.  Hope your team wins today and that they are able to get the games in between the showers.

Ellie, it sounds like you all had a bit of a close call with the flooding in your campground.  Hope you will be able to post some pictures to show us where you are staying.

I watched a lot of the funeral services and the burial service last evening for President Reagan.  While I thought it was all done with great dignity I felt for the family at the very last when they stood at the coffin and the composure left them for a bit.  Too bad that couldn't have been just a private moment.  I am sure that we all can relate to our own experiences at that most difficult moment of the final goodbye to our loved ones.

Good to see everyone posting today.  I have read all of the postings.

    Marilyn

Larry: that was the first thought in my mind was that it was such a private moment why did the cameras have to be there. You could actually hear the snapping of the still cameras and I saw one photographer even change cameras when the TV camera swung over their way for just a moment.

Liz I haven't seen you SN for quite awhile, I am sure all the Martian and venusians must be wondering where you are and missing your little jokes.

Hi Ria: Are you still painting your house?

Janet It is so nice that John can come for another visit with beth. She must be thrilled to see him again.

Rachelle~Way to go. One pound is alot considering if you lose a pound a week for a year.  It really adds up.  Keep it up!

Janet~That is great! A new camera to play with is always fun.  Can't wait to see some new pictures.

Etta Sue~You always find stuff to do.  That is so cool.  I hope to be as active as when I get your age.  Hope you had fun.

Pat~Another wonderful devotion that stepped on the toes.  Thanks!

My brother is coming today.  He should arrive around 6:00pm.  We are all excited. He will only stay till morning.

We are spring cleaning this weekend getting ready for the garage sale next week.  I know, we were supposed to have it this weekend but the weather didn't look good so we possponed it.  I better get, Mike is upstairs doing windows and needs my help.

Evening all, Don't worry I shall get even with you all for calling me a matchmaker,, and worse! lol.
But this is not a white surrender flag that I am hoisting, but the Christian one, to show that I forgive you! Hahaa   :)

Let's all fly the flag on Sunday, wearing our hearts on our sleeves too.
We are vulnerable people, because our Lord taught us to love our neighbours as ourselves, and when you open yourself to others, trying to understand and sympathise with them, and perhaps point them towards Jesus, you can sometimes expect sparks to fly, but we have to still be there, for we are called to go out into the world as Ambassadors for Him.
    Have a great Lord's day.
    Love to all of you,
    Chris & Margit.

Well we have wonderful weather.  Sunny with not many coluds, and a nice breeze.  One thing about living here we have a breeze when it is still in North Bay.

We picked mother up today and brought her here to the farm and she has enjoyed watching as we planted our garden.  Peas, carrots corn beans and much more.  I had a local gent till the gardenm for us, this is the second time he has done it since we moved here but what a nice job is done.  I have started 2 barrels of barrel potatoes, only I am using tires, as a friend suggested.  She has used tires for years.  I hope it workd, but it isn't and expensive experiment.

Etta Sue I enjoyed looking at your rabbits.  They reminded me of my Mother and her wild rabbit she kept as a pet.  We started out with 3 that had been abandoned by their mother, and mom fed them and looked after them as if they were kittens.   I know 2 died but "Peter" lived for years and was quite the pet.  Mother could take an abandoned wild baby animal or baby bird and raise it to be a real pet.  Somewhere in the archives of pictures is a picture of a sparrow she and Dad raised with the sparrow helping Dad ear his Shredded Wheat.  Pat do you have those pictures?

    Well God bless you all

Sonja, I was a senior in high school many, many, many years ago.  In fact next year we will have our 60th year reunion.  We graduated in 1945!

And speaking of the long ago Cornelia and I will celebrate our 55th anniversary the 1st day of July.

Speaking of time passing by we don't know how much more time we have do we:

James 4:13-15  Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:  Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.  For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.  (KJV)

I wonder if there was a home anywhere in the US that wasn't watching the Reagan funeral.   Now maybe the media will back off and let Nancy get on with her grieving in private.

This weekend is Americade in Lake George - a gathering of 1,000 or more motorcyclists.  Every year this event grows and it's amazing all the different kinds of bikes.  There are people of all ages, too, from all over the country.  Our town gets a good bit of business from them as they tour the area and yesterday in the supermarket, a couple of check-out aisles away from me, was a young man in his leather jacket with a patch about 2" x 3" that said "100% for Jesus".   :D

The Shuford's weren't/didn't!  We don't own a TV. :-)  (Bernard does admit to having watched some of it at work yesterday)

Hello everyone.  Was a nice day today, between the rain showers!

NEWS FLASH!!!  GOT YOUR EARS ON (OR EYES)???

    Still reading???

    Almost there.

Sometime around the early part or middle of February, the Shuford household will grow by one.  Travis is becoming a big brother.  He has already decided it is a little sister, and her name is to be Christy (where he got that name, we have NO clue).

OHHHH, Karma!  What wonderful news!  I'm so happy for you both!

I'll chat more about it tomorrow as I'm locking the door early due to a little headache tonight.

I'm so happy though.  What wonderful news.

We are home!  :)  John made it in fine, and then the party/wedding was such fun tonight.  And we still got home before dark.  Which is nice, because I am bushed.
