JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

How To Control Your Tongue

Proverbs 18:21 says...

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Ephesians 4:29, 31-32 says...

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Morning Devotional...

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Acts 17:11

Hidden in the Word of God are priceless treasures that are often difficult to find.

These treasures are easy to miss if you are in a rush. But they are there waiting for your discovery.

This book is a deep, deep mine of truth and blessing. Devote yourself to investigating the Scriptures daily.

What wonderful treasures and blessings await you!
--James Comte

I have a wonderful treasure,
The gift of God without measure,
We will travel together,
My Bible and I.

LOL... Judy Mc.  You know who I get mixed up every now and again? Al and Larry.  I sometimes have to modify my posts because of it.

I am just glad it isn't me having another baby.  I think 4 is enough. :-)

Thanks Jane! (hug)

Ruth Ann Bice

As I've grown older, I've learned that four children is just the right size family! Plenty to love (and to receive love from!).

There were times when I wondered what I'd do WITH them, and now I wonder how I would ever do WITHOUT them.  ;)

I'm sorry I missed Mieka, too.

Our sweet little sea sprite - we really love you. And, as someone has already said, your questions cause us to look to the Bible for answers and to check deep within our own selves for our response to His Word.

How great you're back with us.

I can't mention everyone by name, please forgive me. Just know that I read every post, pause to pray with you and for you, and treasure the beautiful quotations, poems, pictures, delicious recipes, the learned and wise devotionals that inspire me. (And, I remember with fondness those who may have moved on - they may not be active here at CP now, but the memory of their profound influence on my life remains.)

In short - CP is a wonderful place. Sometimes I think of it as my spiritual CPR - I come here to be challenged, questioned, led, and occasionally, "resuscitated."

I love you all.

Ruth Ann

I tried to post twice today and got interupted both times.  Anyway, congrats. to Karama & Nards.  (I read your blog, Nards) and Happy Birthday to Jeanne Lee and Margit.  Pesky birthdays just keep coming around.....this person would love to pass.

The weather is gloomy and it makes me that way.  Went to the Mall with Wendy and spent the afternoon doing this & that around the house.  Not very exciting.  Wanted to get to the computer and try again with the picture posting.  Will try tomorrow....which on here, is now today   ::)

Here is a little joke:

A 95 yr. old woman at the nursing home received a visit from one of her church members.
"How are you feeling? the visitor asked.
"Oh, said the lady, "I'm just worried sick!"
"What are you worried about, dear:" her friend asked.
"You look like you're in good health.  They are taking care of you, aren't they?"
"Yes, they are taking very good care of me."
"Are you in any pain?"  the friend asked.
"No, I have never had a pain in my life."
"Well, what are you worried about?" her friend asked again.
The lady leaned back in her rocking chair and slowly explained her major worry:
"Every close friend I ever had has died and gone on to heaven.  I'm afraid they're wondering WHERE I went."

Do you think that they gossip in heaven?????  Time to put the cat to bed.  She is sleeping on my best chair...which is now HER chair.  Pleasant dreams all.

God Bless,
Liz

farwel to our dears how sad that also is. But i say when we are being older then there are a lot people they have a place in our heart. Then no more in our lives.

MATTHEW 6 : 15 NIV
But if you do not forgive men their sins,
your Father will not forgive your sins.

Can you think of a more frightening thought
than God not forgiving our sins?
We know how much he paid so our sins
could be forgiven!
We know how much He loves us!
We know how much he wants us to be in
relationship with Him!
So why would He withhold His forgiveness?
Because we demonstrate that we have
not received it or do not understand it!
God is gracious and He will not accept
those who are not gracious!

Prayer...
Holy God, there are those that
i do find it difficult to forgive.
Please, right now while i'm praying,
soften my heart  by Your Spirit,
cleanse my soul of any bitterness or
resentment, and please empower me to
let go of the pain of the past and forgive.
I thank You for this grace to not only be
forgiven, but to also forgive.
In Jesus name i pray.   AMEN.

I am relieved that the phrase "one nation under God" in our Pledge of allegiance is safe for now, at least.  But the Supreme Court made the ruling on a technicality, that Michel Newdow had no standing to bring te case, because he is not the custodial parent.  Now we will see if another idiot comes up and challenges it again.

Ria, I understand now why you aren't on here on Sundays.  Your father deserves your time and attention.  It is so hard to see our parents deteriorate. My mom has gotten so she can no longer dress herself.  But even that doesn't hurt as much as watching Beth try to get around.  I was moved to tears at the pool this morning, watching her try to walk with her walker.  I sent her and John to the medical supply place yesterday to have larger wheels and new glides put on her walker, which helps her some, but my, how she is struggling.
:'( :'( :'(

Soni, I like the new photo, too.

Liz, I like that joke, too.  I love reading jokes and comics, and laugh out loud all alone when reading some of them.  Laughter is inner jogging---really good for you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARGIT!!  And many more!  (((hugs)))

You know what struck me in today's devotional?  That if we would be NOBLE, all we need to do is receive the Word and search the Scriptures!!  What a great thought!  I want to be noble!  Thanks for that, Pat!

I love this, too, Ria.  I have lived it.  It is hard to forgive when someone abuses you, but it is so freeing when you can come to that forgiveness.  (There are numerous kinds of abuse.)

I missed Mieka....and I sure don't know how I did that!!!

I did not miss Sonja's new picture and it is wonderful!!!

Funny joke, Liz.  Never thought that your friends might wonder that if you lived a longer life on earth than them.

Yesterday was one of those days that when I got online I thought today will be a quick day on the internet.  Well, I ate lunch at 2 p.m.  It seemed that everywhere I ventured on the internet, I hit a snag.

Today will be better because I prayed about it while trying to go to sleep.

Also I am going with Ivalou to get her eyes examined at noon and this evening is our Small Groups.  So it will be a busy day.

Hi, Etta Sue!  We often seem to be posting at the same time.

Time for another grin.  This would be funnier if it didn't symbolize what is wrong with our society these days.

I'M a driving examiner for the state of Indiana, and while I was giving a road test to a young man, he went through a red light without stopping. I told him that he had automatically failed the test. We met up with his mother back at the office, and I explained what had happened. At first she was speechless. Then she asked incredulously, "He ran a red light?" "Yes," I replied. "Well," persisted the mom, "how red was the light?"

Last night, we attended a Prayer Vigil at a  Catholic Church for a friend who worked at the homeless shelter with us.  She was only 56.  She wasn't a grandmother yet and two young sons are still going to college.  The songs were uplifting as well as people who spoke about her compassion and work all her life for social justice.  She and her husband spent their first three years of marriage in the Peace Corp.

I have been thinking about how people are catergorized in their religions and it is so easy to dismisss someone who is not Protestant or not this or that.  What a humanitarian she was and I do know from my coversations that she was a Child of God as well as any of us.

Good Morning everyone. I have been busy making this card for Margit for the past 45 minutes. Jenny sent me a few photos that I am using for cards- for both her and myself. If you will notice I have added the lady,  a few cats and the borders. Quite proud of my work. Oops I better not get pridefeul, not Christian.

I am off to Eureka to Bea's house this morning, I don't know if she is still mad at me or if I still have a job with her.
You see Thursday night her son called me at 9pm and wanted to to make a 70 mile round trip to pick him up and take him to her place. I did not do it because it is my belief that a Christian Woman would not go out at night alone to drive all those miles to pick up a man in a town whre she has no idea where to go. He was at some druggie house.
Bea was very angry with me for refusing to go because he is also crippled. So It really doesn't matter to me. It is costing me too much for gas anyway to drive there.

Karmat, it is nice that you are able to write the program for your VBS.  I'm sure you are doing a good job.

Larry, our congregation is relatively large.  We usually have over 1,000 in attendance each Sunday with two services.  We have many young people and children.  I'm not playing any role in the VBS this year.  I just didn't feel like volunteering this time.

Mieka, it is so good to see you back with us.  I am looking forward to seeing you back with us.  I hope you will stick around for awhile.  I may add to the good remarks of Brother Al that we should not trust in our own feelings or desires but put our trust in God.  Isa 55:8-9  "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.  "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.  (NIV)

Etta Sue, I'm looking forward to seeing some of your VBS pictures.

Liz, that is a pretty good one.  But I don't think they will gossip in heaven so if we live to be that old we shouldn't worry about it.

Janet, yes someone else will challenge the "one nation under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Hopefully the Pledge will be upheld as it is when that time comes.

Marilyn, you did right by not going to get that man.  Sometimes we have to follow good common sense.  I hope this doesn't cause you to lose your work but if it does you will find something else to take its place.

O.K. not us but; Karmet and Nards is and their just like

A new born ; just what we need here.

Count me in as "grandma"--let me know all about my new little
grandchild to be.

Counting the days already!!!!

Going around forums to see what I missed.

Will get pictures of our family get together and my grand daughter's
graduation for all to see what I was doing while not here.

take care and as always,

Love in Christ,

Hi Joyce.  I had to laugh at your statement "we're having a baby!!!"  I feel the same way.  We are so close with everyone here that the baby feels like part of the family.

Sonifo

@ Janet and liz! Thanks for sharing those jokes.

Etta Sue

I just got back from Noblesville where Ivalou got her eyes examined.  We ate at a Mexican restaurant and about drowned going out to the car.  We decided that whatever we needed at WalMart could wait until a dryer time, so we came on home.  And I got wet again going from the car to the door.  I might just melt....

WOO EEEEEEEEEEE!  I finally got to talk to Mieka on Instant Message this morning.  That really make my heart smile.

Hi everyone.  Just back from singing with the folks at Calvin Cove and then went to the library and stopped and had some ice cream as it is a very hot day.

A belated happy birthday to Jeanne and also happy birthday to Margrit.  I understand what you are teasinga bout Jeanne but I find I relish each new birthday since I know I came close to not having anymore a couple of times due to my heart.  I decided then I would enjoy each one God has allowed me to have and there have been 15 of them so far.

It was indeed nice to see Mieka posting and I hope she will be back with us often in the days ahead.

Marilyn, I think you certainly did the right thing by refusing to go out at night like that.  I am shocked that you would be called with such a request.

Ruth Ann, your explanation of what CP means to you certainly says a lot and I expect most of us share those thoughts.

Janet, we will be thinking of you all as you travel.  Hope you have a wonderful trip and nice reunion with your family members.  Hope Beth tolerates the trip well.

Sonja, was a bit surprised to read that you often mix Al and I up.  Al is a minister and I am not.  However, I am honored to be included in his august company.

I am not going to try to comment to each person today.  It has been a long day and I think someone has already said about all I would say anyway so I would be mainly repeating.  Enjoyed all the postings.

Pat

I just love that sentence from Joyce... "We're having a baby!"

Anyone got a burden that they are carrying by themselves?  Oh, this hymn is so special.

Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary
(Click to hear music)

Words & Music: John M. Moore

Days are filled with sorrow and care,
Heart are lonely and drear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

CHORUS
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

Cast your care on Jesus today,
Leave your worry and fear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

CHORUS
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

Troubled soul, the Savior can see
Ev'ry heartache and tear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary -
Jesus is very near.

CHORUS
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.

And for those who missed the background of the hymn before, here it is again...

Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary

Today's featured hymn was writen in 1952 by one of our contemporary song writers, John M. Moore, currently a Baptist pastor and evangelist in Toronto, Canada. The hymn was prompted by an experience that Dr. Moore had while serving as the assistant superintendent of the Seaman's chapel in Glasgow, Scotland, one of tht area's outstanding evangelistic centers. He recalls:

I wrote 'Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary' after a most interesting experience. The company secretary of a large shipping firm telephoned the Seaman's Chapel and requested that I visit a young merchant seaman who was lying critically ill in a Glasgow hospital. After getting permission from the nursing sister, I went in to visit the young sailor. I talked for a few moments and then put my hand in my case for a tract, not knowing which one I would pull out. It happened to be a tract based on 'Pilgrim's Progress', with a color reproduction of Pilgrim coming to the cross with a great burden on his back. I showed the young seaman this picture and told him the story in brief, adding that Pilgrim's experience had been my experience too. I explained that when I came to the cross of Christ, my burden rolled away and my sense of sin and guilt before God was removed. He nodded his head when I asked him, 'Do you feel this burden on your back today?' We prayed together and never shall I forget the smile of peace and assurance that lit up his face when he said that his burden was lifted!

Later that night, sitting by the fireside with paper and pen, I could not get the thought out of my mind--his burden is lifted! I started writing, but never for a moment did I imagine that this little hymn would become a favorite throughout the world. Since that time, I hear of people all over the world who are being blessed and saved through the singing of this hymn."
What a wonderful hymn this is!  And oh, so true.  We only have to give our burdens to our Saviour and he'll carry them for us.

What a loving Father we have!

OUR BEST WISHES, ALTHOUGH BELATED, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, JEANNIE LEE
We didn't mean to overlook your special day, maybe a belated wish just means the celebration is going on................................................

I'm writing this on Chris' computer, he is working on getting my birthday present installed onto mine, a CD burner and he's getting burned in the process, it's giving him problems.

None of this though is keeping me from coming here, reading all the well-wishes for my birthday, the lovely creations many of you have made, they are so special and I too am saving them.
It has been a nice day and my celebration will carry on too, the kids have given us a weekend at a Hotel in Grasmere, in the Lake District, for this coming weekend.  I don't mind sharing it with Chris, after all it's Father's Day on Sunday,  I'll take him along because he's a nice guy and the father of many kids.  :) ;) :D

To you, dear Friends, thank you for remembering me on my birthday,  I know that we'll spend many more gatherings here, many returns and turns.

God bless you.

In His love, Margit

Larry - first of all, you too are a minister.  All of us in the Kingdom are ministers.  Secondly - "august company!"  Wow, I didn't know you knew!  August is my birthday, so I am indeed august company!  Thirdly, we get confused for one another because we ARE confused - that's just the way it is.
