Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

How To Handle Spiritual Trials

    1 Peter 4:12-13, 16 says...

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

    Isaiah 43:2-3 says...

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

    Morning Devotional...

A friend of publicans and sinners.
    Matthew 11:19

A friend loveth at all times.
    Proverbs 17:17

Need a friend? I mean, a true friend, one to whom you can pour out all your heart and know that your confidence is safe.

    There is such a Friend.

    His name is Jesus.

Gentle and kind, yet true and faithful so His compassion never overrules His honesty.

He will love you every day. He will always act in your best interests and never remind you of your past failure and the sins He has forgiven.

Oh, what a Friend! He waits; receive Him now.
    --J. Boyd Nicholson

O Gift of gifts! O Grace of grace!
    That Thou shouldst condescend
To make my heart Thy dwelling place,
    And be my bosom Friend.

    WHAT A FRIEND
    (Click to hear music)
    Tune:  The Rose

Traditional Tune:  Charles C. Converse, 1832-1918

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He'll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer
Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.

    1 Corinthians 6 : 19-20
Do you not know that your body is a temple of
The Holy Spirit, who is in you,
whom you have received from God?
You are not your own; you were bought
at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Yesterday, we were reminded of Solomon's
great dedication speech of the Temple in the
    Old Testament.
Incredibly, Paul asserts that God has taken
up his dwelling inside of us through His Spirit,
just as majestically as he took up his dwelling
in the Jerusalem Temple. Our acceptability
to God as His holy dwelling
came at a great price to Him -- the death of His Son!
How we can refuse to honor His Holy presence in us?
How can we not live a holy life in response to His Grace?

    PRAYER...
    Forgive me, dear Fahter,
for the times that i have lost
sight of the wonder of Your presence
    within me.
The gift of Your Spirit is a dazzling and
    humbling grace.
Once again Father, i pledge to present
my body as a living sacrifice to please
and honor You as Your Temple.
At the same time, i acknowledge that
i need the presence and power of
Your Holy Spirit to please and honor
    You as Your Holy Child.
Lead me, cleance me, purify me, and
make me like Jesus by Your Spirit.
In Jesus name i pray.  AMEN.

    Bye love Ria

    Good Morning Everyone...

Well, I'm feeling a little better in comparison to how I felt last evening when I posted the new NEM.  And that's good as there's a Family Reunion today but not entirely sure yet if I'm going.  It depends on whether my son and family also go as I don't really feel like travelling alone.

I'll check back in later if I don't go and if I go, we don't expect to be late getting back here.

    Enjoy your Saturday, folks!

Pat:  I worked one election day at the university and we only managed to drag in one student in that long and hot day.  And, they are the first to protest  ???

A haircut for me today and lots to prepare for tomorrow's visit with the children, another birthday.

Marilyn:  I will check out the site for Gloria.

Al:  Well, we have another CT scan to pray about for you, don't we?  Have a wonderful Sunday!

Everyone:  Enjoy your Sunday service - we are going to a service tonight so we can be on the road in the morning.

Whew!  It is quite cool here today.  Only 63°F right now.  That is cool for June.

I am expecting a call any minute from Tony saying he is bringing some river rock.  That means w*rk but also means another load of river rock closer to being finished with my landscaping.  Well, at least that part of my landscaping.   :-\

Tony called last evening and we talked for over an hour and a half.  I love it when he does that.   :-*

Jerry says he is itching and oozing.  When his stuff dries up, then he can get out and about.  He says he is contagious when he is still oozing.  So I will be going to church on my own tomorrow and will stop by his place afterwards.  If you have had Chicken Pox, I guess the shingles aren't contagious to you...I don't know.  And I had Chicken Pox, Measles and the Mumps all before I was a year old...thanks to an older sister and brother.   ::)

Euchere!  :D  Euchere is the card game of Indiana.  (Next to basketball)  About everyone here knows how to play Euchere.  It seems very easy to play by me but then I learned watching my mother, dad, brother and sister play before I was in school.  Euchere and Double Solitaire was the games when I was little.  You could afford a deck of cards and if you could get your brother or sister to play with you, you had great entertainment.

    PAT - I'm glad you're feeling a bit better.

RIA - 12 degrees Celsius is about 54 degrees Fahrenheit.  I'm just curious, why is it that you do not take pictures anymore?  Did you take pictures before?

ETTA SUE - My father-in-law used to play euchre and pinochle.  He passed away about 5 years ago.  Are they similar, euchre and pinochle?  I know how to play pinochle.   My in-laws weren't from Indiana, but that's where they ended up, in Fort Wayne.

JANET - It's your birthday?  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

    Sonja,
QuoteIt is true that it is the way God made us, but do I have to?
.  --- Sorry, but the answer is YES.  There are so many things we must do which are sometimes difficult.  However the time comes when we have to cut the apron strings.  It hasn't come for you yet.  But it will.

Matt 19:4-6  And he  answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,  And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife:[/b] and they twain shall be one flesh?  Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.  (KJV)

Unfortunately divorce and remarriage seems to be the rule in our culture today rather than the exception because our people have turned their backs on God much like Israel did back in the days of the Old Testament.

We need to impress on our children the fact that marriage is sacred.  Also that when they choose a mate they should choose someone who also believes marriage is sacred.  The time to teach them is when they are young.

Hi everyone.  For those of you who are experiencing cold weather I sure wish I could share as it is blazing hot here in Georgia today.  It is to be over 90 degrees with humidity around 95%.  Typical Georgia summer weather and we are still two days away from the official beginning of summer.

We are awaiting a call from the refrigerator repair lady to come and replace the computer board in the door of the freezer that controls the ice dispenser and cold water dispenser.  It acted up for several days and we had her out to repair it but she had to order the part.  The last 8 or 9 days it has been working fine but we decided to go ahead and replace the part to avoid a further service charge.

Pat is going to a late luncheon that is a support group starting for people with fibromyalgia.  She went once before but no one else showed up.

Sorry to read that you had a rough day yesterday and sure hope you have been feeling better today and were able to attend the family function.

Sonja, I don't believe I ever heard of disc golf before.  Hope you or your team does very well today.

Papa John, your words regarding family are so true and it is so sad to see so many families torn apart.  Please express your thoughts anytime as you speak the truth based on the Bible.

Ursula, it sounds like your daughter's first date was special and went very well.
I look forward to seeing photos from the super new camera.

Ria, I liked the little poem you included with your devotional thoughs today "The Hope of Heaven".

    Happy Birthday Janet.

Al, do hope the doctors will determine the cause of your problems.  It sounds like the doctor isn't willing to just except the status quo and is seeking futher answers.

Carol, hope you have a good journey tomorrow.

Etta Sue, I see that had misspelled the word "Euchere".  I am finding it fun game and am catching on to it.  The hardest part seems to be to remember about the other jack of the color of the trump suit.  There really isn't any similarity to the game of Pinochle, which is another card game I haven't played for a long time.

Marilyn, I haven't been to the prayer requests yet so know you may have posted more about your friend but do hope things are looking better for her.  I will check out your postings as soon as I post this message.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  My goal is to try to stay in and stay cool for the rest of the day as I don't tolerate the heat very well for very long.

    Marilyn

Here it is almost 5 p,m  and we are still on page 1. I have been to the Salmon feed and it sure was good and well worth the $10.00 charge. There were testimonies fromt he young folks who have been in the program and those who still are. One young woman was only 20 yrs. old what a sad life she had before teen Challenge and god changed her life.

The same group will be putting on the service tomorrow at church, our Pastors are on vacation.

HEY EVERYONE!  Where are you all?  I left here at 9 am and am just home.  It's 8 p.m and you're only on page 1!!!  Wow!

Amazing that we have over 200 members but not many post messages.  I'd sure like to know why.

Anyway, we had a wonderful time at the Family Reunion.  There weren't as many as last year and some have passed away so it's kind of sad when you realize that they were there last time but not this time.

We travelled the back country roads home so it took a little longer but it was such a nice drive.

    I feel like singing.

    Any favorites?

We went out to Alice's farm today to get the water and electricity turned on so it'll be ready for her when she arrives next week.  Gene got the pump running and we had all the faucets open and everything seemed to be working well, when we discovered water coming out from the cabinet under the bathroom sink.   :(

I grabbed some of her towels and started mopping up and when I got just about everything out of the cabinet I suddenly thought to check the drain to see if that was where the leak was, rather than the cold water pipe.  She had forgotten to tell me she had taken the nut off the elbow to make sure the drain was empty before she shut down last fall.  And that's where the water was coming from!  ::)

Tonight we have to pick up a friend's wife from work at 11:00.  Their teenage son blew the engine on her car (ignored the "check oil" light!!!!) and the husband works nights so she needs a ride home three nights a week until she gets some transportation.

    Beneath the Cross of Jesus
    (Click to hear music)

May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    Galatians 6:14

Words: Elizabeth C. Clephane, 1868; published posthumously in the Family Treasury, a Scottish Presbyterian magazine, in 1872, titled "Breathing on the Border." The magazine's editor, W. Arnot, wrote: These lines express the experiences, the hopes and the longings of a young Christian lately released. Written on the very edge of life, with the better land fully in view of faith, they seem to us footsteps printed on the sands of time, where these sands touch the ocean of Eternity. These footprints of one whom the Good Shepherd led through the wilderness into rest, may, with God's blessing, contribute to comfort and direct succeeding pilgrims.

Music: "St. Christopher," Frederick C. Maker, in the Bristol Tune Book, 1881

Beneath the cross of Jesus I fain would take my stand,
    The shadow of a mighty rock within a weary land;
A home within the wilderness, a rest upon the way,
From the burning of the noontide heat, and the burden of the day.

O safe and happy shelter, O refuge tried and sweet,
O trysting place where Heaven's love and Heaven's justice meet!
As to the holy patriarch that wondrous dream was given,
So seems my Savior's cross to me, a ladder up to heaven.

There lies beneath its shadow but on the further side
The darkness of an awful grave that gapes both deep and wide
And there between us stands the cross two arms outstretched to save
A watchman set to guard the way from that eternal grave.

Upon that cross of Jesus mine eye at times can see
    The very dying form of One Who suffered there for me;
    And from my stricken heart with tears two wonders I confess;
The wonders of redeeming love and my unworthiness.

    I take, O cross, thy shadow for my abiding place;
    I ask no other sunshine than the sunshine of His face;
Content to let the world go by to know no gain or loss,
My sinful self my only shame, my glory all the cross.
