JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

How To Handle Suffering

1 Peter 4:1-2, 12-17 says...

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

Morning Devotional...

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment. Philippians 1:9

In John's first epistle we read that "God is light" (1:5) and that "God is love" (4:8 ).

In our flawed, imbalanced character we often find one expression overstepping the other, so that we either become truthfully terse or lovingly lax.

In the apostle's prayer for these generous Christians, he desired that both attributes would be evidently harmonious in their lives, as they most certainly are in the Person of our Saviour. Undue emphasis in either direction will ultimately become a destructive extreme.

"Speaking love in truth" is the divine balance.
--Rick Morse

Engrave this deeply on our heart,
conform our ways to Thine,
That so we may, in some degree,
reflect the light divine.

Pat, your so welcome.  I don't mind at all.  Glad you got your computer fixed.

Etta Sue,
thanks for the cat movie email.  we had a great laugh watching it.

Hi Janet!  Everyone says hi back.  Love you!

Hello Alma!  You are doing great.  I will write you back tomorrow.  I was pretty much gone all day with the kids.  I am so glad you are enjoying this site.  It is a fun site and to meet good folks.

I spent the whole day with the kids.  The boys wanted to go turtle herping.  We found some but wasn't able to catch any.  I did catch a leapord frog.  He is so cute.  The boys have him with the bronze frog.  We plan to go early in the morning to catch some more, hopefully.
As we were looking for turtles I see the biggest snapping turtle.  I took a pictures of it as it was swimming through the water.  I am so glad I had my camera.  Here is a picture of him/her.

I better get to bed.  We have another busy day planned.

EPHESIANS 6 : 24
Grace to all who love our Lord
Jesus Christ with an undying love.

Ephesians makes some of the
greatest declarations in the entire
Bible about the grace of God.
This one, however, may be the very richest.
Grace is offered to us whether we accept it or not.
But, grace is with us in rich abundance and blessing
as we love Jesus and hang to His love with a grip
a grip of faith that is unwavering.

PRAYER...
Holy Father, i do love
You and Your Son Jesus
with all my heart.
Forgive me when my display of
this passion dims and my
communication of His grace
to others lags.
Rekindle in me an
unquenchable desire to show
my love for Jesus in all that
i do and say.
In His name, Jesus, Your Son,
i pray. AMEN.

Good Morning

Wild and windy outside.  Did somebody mention it was summer??  Another day without work.  Only part time but it does help pay the bills.

A big welcome to Alma and if I missed any other newcomers apologies and also also a big welcome.

See Al this Al is always later.  Ha! Ha! Ha!

Camera is poorly and I have been looking at the Canon 10D depending what the experts quote on the fixing price.

It would be nice if you could tell me what you think of this camera.

I find people in your line of work have a special calling along with nursing and other callings were the special comfort for the sick and needy is a gift.

I do remember hearing the story about the medical school trainees finishing their final year at medical school.

They sat their final exam one question asked.  "What is the name of the cleaning Lady who cleans the corridor in the morning when you walk in"

One guy jumped up shouting,  "this has to be a joke"  the teacher said it is no joke.

He asked them to put down their pens and listen!

From here you will all take up positions of high importance and high salaries.  Many becoming top surgeons and specialists.

But do remember from the humble cleaning Lady to the man who brushes the street  to the high powered leaders of the world.  We all are members of that big wheel and all have our part to play in this world.

He then told them her name was Mary.

I always say a friendly hello to people I meet in my daily life.  For a stranger is a friend you have not spoken to yet.

And also that person may be feeling very low and a friendly few moments is all the tonic they may need.

Civility costs nothing!

Alan

Papa John

Thank you Pat for the morning message.

Good to see you Ria.  Sorry to hear you have been depressed.  Cornelia likes white walls too.  All our inside is painted a kind of egg shell white.

Etta Sue I saved your thing on the English language.  Very funny.

Alan, you are so right.  It doesn't cost anything to be nice to people whoever they are.  A smiling face and a friendly hello may be all some people need as they start the day.    ;D

It is very unusual when I can't sleep in the morning but I got up at 5:30 this morning and couldn't sleep so I came in here a little early, put the coffee on and visited here in CP.  I'll be back later today.

Good morning, friends,

Each message this morning has been a great one. And, I was able to sleep pretty well last night. It seems the pain (whatever is causing it) is diminishing. So, will be grateful for movement and for the ability to rest.

Y'all have a wonderful day.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

We had a lovely evening with the kids and grandkids.  We went down early and spent some time with Curtis.  At dinner, Jeff read the verses in Ecclesiastes 3 which talk about a time for everything.  Then he talked to the boys about this being a season in their lives when they have acquired a lot of knowledge, and are on the brink of leaving home and striking out on their own.  He encouraged them to always take everything to the Lord, get His direction, and then move ahead.

We all assured Curtis of our love for him and that we will continue to pray God's protection over him, Mark and Abby.

When I look at those two big guys, it seems such a short time ago they were small, and fighting over my lap.  My, how fast the years fly past.  And yes, Sonja, sometimes I wish they were still at the age of potty training bootcamp!  But time marches on for all of us.

Mark showed us his Top Pilot Award, he is proud of that, and we are proud of him.  He showed me his log book telling how many take-offs and landings he did, how many hours flight time he logged, etc.  He really loves flying!

Alma, I hope you will soon be posting your photos.  I will post more soon.

Larry, thanks for your email and the suggestion.  I should check that out, as I'm sure you wouldn't steer me wrong!  And I do need a lot of help.

Marilyn, I cannot carry a purse, it really hurts my shoulder.  Not even a small one!  When I travel, I use a fanny pack, but have to use it in the back, not a "belly bag."  Otherwise it hurts my back.  I want to find a way to carry my camera on my waist as well; just works so much better for me.

I'm going to Wal-Mart today and get some prints made from my camera card, because my sister and niece want some.  I'm not good yet at printing my own.  But I will get there!  Darrel has a dr.'s appointment and an alarm trouble call in Liberal, so that gives me a chance to go to Wal-Mart without making an extra trip.

Larry, we are happy that gas here has gone down to $1.85, your price is much better!

Ruth Ann, you are a ray of sunshine!  Your attitude is so positive and you are an encouragement.  Thanks and God bless.

Ria, I'm so sorry you are feeling blue.  It is probably the lack of sunshine that causes it.  Lots of people in Alaska and other far North countries where the sunshine hours are so short in winter have that condition, the acryonym for it is SAD.  I can't remember the words just at this moment.  :-\  I wish for you bright sunshiny days and all white walls finished soon.  I love you dearly, Ria.

Darrel is almost ready to go, so I'd better grab a bite of breakfast or I might get really hungry before I get to eat!

Sorry if some of you have read some of this already, I posted last night just as Pat was closing the door.  But she missed my head! ;D  See you later!

Good Morning.

Pat it is so good to see you back with your computer all clean and working just great.

I have a bunch of photos in my camera and  some I have already uploaded to my computer that I really need to work on and get posted. However I have been so busy that I just have not had the time to get that done. I will try to get some posted this evening.

Margit thanks for clarifying that Chris was not literally "burned."

Alma and Woodenshoe it is so nice to see your photos.

We got up early this morning to hunt for turtles and frogs, but it was so cold out.  49 degrees...brrrsss...

Oh well, maybe next month will be a bit warmer.

Chandraya has gymnastics this morning and we are planning a picnic with the family.

Be back later.

Etta Sue

Sonja ~ I am glad the family enjoy the Cat Video.  Do I remember you saying you got a cat for the family?  If so, how is the cat doing and your allergies to cats?  Do we need pictures?

Papa John ~ Glad you enjoyed the English thingy.  We English speaking people speak English and write and read English but when it is spelled out like that thingy, I even wonder how we do so good with English.

Janet ~ Sounds like you had a ball with the grandkids.

Pat ~ I am so happy you got your pc back.

Alan ~ I remember your stories of the cleaning lady.  Great to remember that.  Also when speaking to strangers you never know if that stranger is an angel.

Great pictures of Alma and Tom.  Looking forward to reading more posts and seeing pictures from both of you.

I am stopping there.  I know I have left out many, many but I didn't take notes.

My pc is dragging this morning.  Very slow.  Perhaps I need to defrag...something that some people say isn't necessary for Windows XP.  I haven't defragged this since I installed everything I wanted in January.  Hmmmm.  It is June now.  Maybe that is what I need to do.

I will be gone with Ivalou and friends this morning and afternoon.

Everyone have a God-blessed day!!!

Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven
(Click to hear music)

Praise the Lord, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise His holy Name.
Psalm 103:1

Words: Henry F. Lyte, Spirit of the Psalms, 1834

Music: "Lauda Anima," John Goss, in Supplemental Hymn and Tune Book, third edition with new Appendix, by Robert Brown-Borthwick, 1869

Praise, my soul, the King of heaven;
To His feet thy tribute bring.
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
Evermore His praises sing:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King.

Praise Him for His grace and favor
To our fathers in distress.
Praise Him still the same as ever,
Slow to chide, and swift to bless.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Glorious in His faithfulness.

Fatherlike He tends and spares us;
Well our feeble frame He knows.
In His hands He gently bears us,
Rescues us from all our foes.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Widely yet His mercy flows.

Frail as summer's flower we flourish,
Blows the wind and it is gone;
But while mortals rise and perish
Our God lives unchanging on,
Praise Him, Praise Him, Hallelujah
Praise the High Eternal One!

Angels, help us to adore Him;
Ye behold Him face to face;
Sun and moon, bow down before Him,
Dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise with us the God of grace.

Hi everyone.  It was indeed good to see the photos of Alma and Woodenshoe.  Knowing what a person looks like helps to increase the bonds of friendship that we quickly form here.  Sometimes my mental image is close to what a person looks like and other times it is way off.   :D

I have had a quiet morning since getting home from walking and coffee.  Pat was ready to leave for the morning at the Senior Center so I have had the house to myself just working on projects on the computer and listening to music.

Pat, we are going to leave Sunday morning and fly to Kansas City to visit with Pat's sister and our granddaughter and see our two great grandchldren.  We have never seen our great granddaughter, who was born in February.  It has been about 18 months since we have seen our great grandson.

Then we will fly on to Denver on Thursday to attend a 50th wedding anniversary of my cousin and his wife and visit with a number of relatives in the area.  My cousin from Michigan and his wife are also coming to Denver so we will get to see them.  They are the ones we had planned to visit last year when we had hoped to come on up and visit with you.  We will also do some sightseeing in Colorado.  We have not purchased return tickets so we will have some flexibility as to the exact day we return home.

I am planning on taking my laptop with us as the hotel in Denver has a wireless system.  So we hope to stay in touch while we are gone.

Ria, sure sorry to read you are feeling depressed.  Know that extreme weather isn't helping the situation.  You all are certainly having a lot of storms.  Is this a typical summer for you all?

Since I have written such long postings the last few days am going to sign off for today.  I have read all the postings.

It would be awesome to meet up with you, Larry while you were in denver, But I don't think that would be possible.  :(  Hope you have a fun time with your family and that new great grand baby.

Worship: The Art of True Worship

And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the
earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard
saying: "Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits
on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!"
--Revelation 5:13

It remains only to be said that worship as we have described it here
is almost (though, thank God, not quite) a forgotten art in our day.
For whatever we can say of modern Bible-believing Christians, it can
hardly be denied that we are not remarkable for our spirit of
worship. The gospel as preached by good men in our times may save
souls, but it does not create worshipers.

Our meetings are characterized by cordiality, humor, affability, zeal
and high animal spirits; but hardly anywhere do we find gatherings
marked by the overshadowing presence of God. We manage to get along
on correct doctrine, fast tunes, pleasing personalities and religious
amusements.

How few, how pitifully few are the enraptured souls who languish for
love of Christ....

If Bible Christianity is to survive the present world upheaval, we
shall need to recapture the spirit of worship. We shall need to have
a fresh revelation of the greatness of God and the beauty of Jesus.
We shall need to put away our phobias and our prejudices against the
deeper life and seek again to be filled with the Holy Spirit. He
alone can raise our cold hearts to rapture and restore again the art
of true worship.  That Incredible Christian, 130-131.

"Lord, help me personally, and then as a church leader, to do my
part to help us to 'raise our cold hearts to rapture and restore
again the art of true worship.' May it no longer be said, at least
in my sphere of influence, that true worship is 'a forgotten art.'
Amen."

School Is Out

Yes it is a wonderful feeling knowing that you can do whatever the mood decides.  None of this being back home on time to get the children.

Mind you I have plenty of little jobs to get done so the time will go by so very fast.

In fact we just rec'd a call to join a cousin for dinner at the Wishbone Restaurant In Bolton this evening.

I got a huge envelope of photos!  Also had them put on a CD, which I should do myself, if I knew how.  :-[  We stopped by the store and Diane (daughter) said Curtis had called and said he's arrived safely in Rapid City, S.Dakota, and was turning off his cell phone.  They aren't allowed any calls or visits during boot camp.

Our son in law just finished a big sod laying job and has a bunch of sod left over.  We have lots of weedy areas we would like to have grass on, so Darrel is mowing the weeds very short, then we will drive back to Hugoton, load the sod, bring it home and lay it on those areas, and hope it will survive.  It would have done great had it been done a week ago, because we had 4 inches of rain since then!  Whoopee!!

Anyway, I will be back later,

Hi all.  Just poking my head in for a minute.  I'm going to take a quick nap then tear into cleaning the house.

Interesting posts and nice devotional.  I am stopping in for a minute....possibly to avoid the huge pile of ironing that waits in a basket ::).

Miss Squeek was very bad this morning.  She was upstairs when Ralph went to the door and couldn't avoid her hasty escape to the great outdoors.  Sneaked out again when his back was turned and got very muddy and did much travelling before second capture.  Dangerous outside, hawks, eagles, dogs, etc.  Not to mention the forest we are surrounded by...even tho' this is a modern subdivision.  Think we will have to change her name from Squeek to Sneak.  She was supposed to be a house cat.  Methinks they shaded the truth somewhat!!

Here is a wee joke:

Carrie's little great-nephew went to a summer program last year.  He was four years old.
One day he came to visit and tried telling them about what he was learning.  He had a slight speech problem, so sometimes it was hard to understand him.
He told his Aunt that he had gone to 'Cajun Bubble School'.
She asked him to repeat it several times because they didn't know what a 'Cajun Bubble School' was.
He got upset with her, and finally told them it was where he learned about Jesus.
Seems the 'Cajun Bubble School' was actually a Vacation Bible School!

Pleasant day and God Bless.

Cute joke liz.

I have been doing a couple of loads of laundry and putting the new brush on my Carpert cleaning machine. Going to try to start shampooing the carpet tomorrow after work. I am going to the hardware store shortly to buy a small Shop Vac to get in the places I can't get with my upright vacumn cleaner.

NO AL I won't come and do your carpet too.

I need to find someone to come to mow the 2 small patches of grass out front.  Gilbert procrastinates too much. However about the time I find some one else he will show up.

What a beautiful photo that Alma sent for me to post for her.  I'm willing to help folks post their photos until they find some way of doing it themselves.
