JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

But He was wounded for our transgressions.
Isaiah 53:5

While standing in the intensive care unit shortly after our son's accident, looking at the bruises and wounds on his body, watching the monitor as he labored for every breath, holding his hand to feel for a pulse, whispering words of hope into his ear, I thought of my heavenly Father's love.

His Son was wounded for me and when He bore those wounds, He bore them alone.

He was not kept comfortable with modern medical technology.

Nobody whispered words of hope into His ear.

He said, "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?" He suffered, bled and died alone--for me.

Let us rejoice in this and remember Him today.
--B. Sloetjes

Love's redeeming work is done, fought the fight, the battle won!
He Himself our ransom paid, peace with God forever made.

Hi, Pat and everyone else.  Good night (or good morning).

Pat, when did your son have an accident?  Just now?  If so, I'm very sorry.  If one of my children was hurt, I don't know if I could think clearly like you did in that situation.  But your words are so true, He died for us, for our sins, for all people at all times.

Take care,

Ursula

Hi everyone.  Have caught up on the postings here as I wait for our son to arrive to take us to the airport.  We had planned on just going to the subway stop and riding the train to the airport but he said he wanted to take us so we didn't argue with him.  It will save us about 45 minutes in travel time.

Pat, sure sorry to hear of your car problems.  That does sound like large dollars but know that has been a pretty reliable car up to now.  Did I miss something about your son having an accident.  I looked back but didn't find anything.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Etta Sue

We are all ready for church and a day of rest and to reflect on what God does for us each and every day of our lives.  I have nothing but praise for His goodness.

It looks like we will be staying for both services.  I looked at the A/V Team roster and the other person that knows the duplicating is doing the sound board today.  That's okay.  I love listening to the Youth Minister.  He is great.

Another bright and sonny day for a Sonday!

Pat, I noticed the name on the devotional today is B. Sloetjes.  Could this be the father of the Ben we have been praying for so long, who had an accident?

Ursula, it isn't Pat's own son, but the son of the person who wrote the devotional Pat used here today.  Easy to make that mistake.

Larry, have a wonderful trip, and we look forward to your popping in and posting when you can.

Etta Sue, I'll bet you are glad to have all the landscaping finished, and it looks very nice.

We have to figure out when we can go to Dodge City and bring Beth's car home.  It's sitting at the airport over there.

I posted quite a few photos yesterday, if you all want to take a look.  A few of you have already, and I thank you.

It will soon be time to get ready for church here, too.

I am stopping in very quickly this morning to say hello and I pray your day will be blessed. I need to get ready for church now, going a little slow this morning for no particular reason. Been here reading a nd looking at photos for about 1/2 hour.

Happy is better today than yesterday. He wants to play with Bebe, which is what the Vet told me not to let him do. How do you stop a 59 pound dog from doing what he wants to do?

Liz Jenny pops in now and then to read the posts but doesn't post. She is using her time for other things. She has been getting out and handing out tracts on the good days and staying in on the bad days.

Do All you SN'ers remember Mark (Rusty's Paw)? He is in his final series of 35 Chemo/Radiation treatments, he could use some prayers and encouraging words. If you need his email address I will post it.

Thanks so much, Janet, for clearing up the little misunderstanding about the devotional.  Yes, that's Ben's father writing that devotional--the Ben that we've been praying for for a long time.

I'm sort of feeling "down" today just wondering what to do about the car.  I can't do anything about it till Tuesday as I work in the elections tomorrow till late at night.  So that's what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Larry, have a wonderful trip.  Hope you're able to login here as soon as you can.

I still love your little graphics, Etta Sue.  They are so cute.

Ursula, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.   Hope that we see more of your lovely photos soon, Ursula.  Love your work so much.

Just further news about yesterday...

Any Mechanics out there?

Well, I had a busy weekend planned but you know all about that poem by Robbie Burns?

The best laid schemes o' mice an' men
Gang aft a-gley,

Exactly how my day went yesterday.

I was on my way to the first event where I was supposed to be singing at a 60th Wedding Anniversary and I forgot to put my new partial plate in and thought, "I'd better go back and get my teeth!"

I was only a few blocks from my home and so parked in the driveway a bit away from where I normally park thus seeing something that was under my car before I left. I thought that some idiot has let their dog do its business in my driveway!

Well, came out of the house, thought I'd go and get the oil checked just because what was on the driveway that was tan coloured and rather liquid but not "oil-like" looked as if it had dripped from my car. Found that the oil was empty! I said, "Impossible! I just added 2 quarts on June 16th!" As he was putting in the oil, I noticed this crazy marshmallowy tan stuff oozing out from around my antifreeze tank (should be GREEN!!!!)

Drove to the Esso station, no mechanic on duty but a young kid who's training to be a mechanic and only there to pump gas said, "Look's like a gasket is gone!"

So I drove very carefully home, parked the car in the drive, and went in the house and started to cry! (as if that would do any good! LOL)

In the meantime, I couldn't get the church number where I was supposed to be singing but then my son phoned and said, "You coming to Lee's Retirement Party?" Oh, I felt no more like partying than flying without wings! But anyway, he said he'd arrange for someone to come and get me which he did.

Now I have to try to figure out how and what to do.

I have a 1995 Saturn in the driveway which has been very well looked after with 140,000 km on it with maybe a head gasket gone! How can you live in today's world without a car? and how can you get them fixed without a big income?

So, big problems in the Scott household.   Please pray with me regarding this situation.

I know that this is more than you ever wanted or needed to know! LOL But I had to tell someone! LOL And I chose you guys~!

Pat I understand how you are feeling about your car and the financial dilemma you face. I am praying with you for the situation to be fixed for little or nothing. I pray that your car will be back onthe road very quickly. I pray that God will send someone with mechanical expertise to your door. God is able.  Take care my friend and know that you are not alone.
Love ya bunches.

My plans for the day are go to church, come home and fix something to eat then go next door to water my garden. After that it is rest for a bit and back to the church for prayer meeting at 4 pm. No evening services tonight. I have read my Sunday school lesson this morning, it is on Philippians 3. Time for me to leave now.

Dear PAT~Please know that I fully understand your dilemna and the discouragement you are feeling just now.  :-\  Also, we need to focus on the fact that our Father said He would never leave us nor forsake us.  He is aware of every tear you shed ... and every ache in your heart.  :'(
And He loves you!! ;)
I pray that He will comfort your heart now and give you the assurance that He has everything under control and will bring the solution (to ALL things) in His perfect timing.  By the way ... we don't really know what the problem is at the moment...just what someone said "it looks like" right?  Have faith!  :)
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Thanks Marilyn and Jane....

My friend up the road just took me to get dog food for Geordie and some lunch stuff for tomorrow that I have to take to the polling place.  I'm going to freeze water overnight and I'll have lots of that to drink there.

Pat, I am so sorry about your car.  I wish I had a way to get this Fairmont Station Wagon up there to you.  We are not using it, and it is in good condition.  I pray that a Christian mechanic will come along who will be willing to help you at minimal cost.  We will all continue praying for you, dear friend.

At church this morning, the pastor preached on the rapture, and will soon preach a sermon on the signs of the times.  Really good preaching!

Papa John

Pat, I am so sorry you are having car trouble.  Hopefully you will find a solution somehow soon.

We had a great Bible class this morning and a wonderful period of worship.  Tonight we are having a band concert of patriotic music played by an Air Force band.  This is our fifth year for this event which takes place on the grounds of our church building.  We will have homemade ice-cream and cookies for everyone.  Last year we had around a thousand to come and we are expecting that many this year.

Marilyn, I'm glad your Happy Dog seems to be doing better.

Good to see each one today.  Larry, have a safe trip.

Worship: The Program

For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in
the midst of them.
--Matthew 18:20

Now, I freely admit that it is impossible to hold a Christian service
without an agenda. If order is to be maintained, an order of service
must exist somewhere. If two songs are to be sung, someone must know
which one is to be sung first, and whether this knowledge is only in
someone's head or has been reduced to paper there is indeed a
"program," however we may dislike to call it that. The point we make
here is that in our times the program has been substituted for the
Presence. The program rather than the Lord of glory is the center of
attraction. So the most popular gospel church in any city is likely
to be the one that offers the most interesting program; that is, the
church that can present the most and best features for the enjoyment
of the public....

We'll do our churches a lot of good if we each one seek to cultivate
the blessed Presence in our services. If we make Christ the supreme
and constant object of devotion the program will take its place as a
gentle aid to order in the public worship of God. If we fail to do
this the program will finally obscure the Light entirely, and no
church can afford that.  The Root of the Righteous, 107-109.

"Lord, I pray that Christ might always be the center of our
worship--never the program. Even if our church is never the largest
or most 'exciting,' may we never lose that focus. Amen."

Afternoon everyone (its 9.30 pm here!)
Just popped in to say hi and to let you know i have not forgotten you all.
I do visit the site but am not very good at leaving posts!
Am a lot better now than a few weeks back - still recovering slowly though - i have had lots and lots of anti-biotics.
Anyway i am off to York for a few days tommorrow (home of Dick Turpin,) and am on holiday till next week - thank goodness.
Sorry to hear about your car Pat, will pray that God sorts things out for you. I dont drive but can understand how you feel -  i guess its especially important for you to be mobile when going to church and getting out and about over there in Canada.
Will say goodnight for now - but will be back soon.
Love and prayers for you all

Hi chris thank you for taking those photos for me, your mum has already emailed them to me and I have them stored in a folder I call Jenny's pic's. yours is in there too. Also thanks for the little gif you sent for me. God Bless you on your holiday be safe and and be careful.

Chris and Margit, I keep forgetting to tell you how much I have missed you daily devotional from Mr. Tozer. I am so glad that you are back and the computers are working well. I pray we will see more photos of your trip to America.

Life in McKinleyville. I have been to church  a wonderful service. One of the young men from church is going to come and mow my little patch of grass this week sometime. I have been over next door to water my little garden.

There isn't much in there at the moment. I have a tomato plant in a flower box by the fence and also in another flower box I have 1 strawberry plant and an yellow crooked neck squash plant. In the garden bed there are quite a few strawberry plants 4 lettuce, 1 spinach, 1 Lemon cucumber, a few red onions, 3 garlics and a few carrots.I am planning to add more garlic and onions and I don't know what else. I have Lemon Basil in a pot, I may put some of that over there, I also have sage and lavender in pots.

It is a beautiful day here today, just exactly the right temperature, I don't like HOT Had enough of that in Lucerne Valley. Over in Blue Lake where Gilbert is, it has been in the high 80's* and 90*.

The Wm's have a fireworks booth in the church parking lot that will be open for only this week, closed on the 4th (Sunday). A family in our church has the corner on fireworks for all of this and the surrounding counties.

Well I see I have been rather prolific in this post so I will sign off for now, perhaps I will return after prayer meeting.

Hi Everyone...

Andrew and Terena are going camping for the week and so for tomorrow, I have Terena's car to get me to the Polling Station where I'll be for 14 hours!

Thanks so much, Chris and Margit.  I love that photo.  I think I'll try to print that out.  Just a great photo and a perfect verse.

I so enjoy Dr. Tozer's little talks too, Chris.  Thanks for being so faithful in bringing them to us here.

It's so nice to see you popping in too, Chris.  I'm so glad that you are feeling so much better now.  It does take time as we shared together.  It took Jack awhile when he got his tonsils out as an adult.   Yes, it's just a necessity here to have a car.  So, we'll see what happens in the next few days.  I feel kind of lost as Andrew will be away and I sort of use him as my helper for things like this.  But this is holiday tiime for him as well.  I hope you have a great holiday this week.  I really enjoy the area where you are going.

Thanks Marilyn.  I go the photos from you and they are really nice.

There's some great photos of Janet's in the "From Below, Looking Up" challenge.  She's flying a kite!  Wish you lived closer, Janet and I'd be able to borrow that car! LOL

Yes, Jane, you've had your share of car troubles over the years I know.  My little car is still so pretty!  LOL  I just shined it up last week.  The monkeys in the African Lion Safari sure left it a mess!  Jane, where's Nita?   I sure miss her.

Thanks for your kind thoughts, Papa John.

Good afternoon to everyone,
Again I seem to be a late comer. I want you to know my heart felt prayers are over each and everyone of you.
Pat, I am so sorry to hear about your car problem.
It seems like we too have been under attack that way. Craig has been taking the duele  to work and leaving me the subaru and now the truck won't hardly make it up the mountain when he comes home on Thursdays.  We had to have are other subaru fixed it cost over $3000.00. But now he can at least have a car that will run better and cost less gas in the end. I paid $2.51 cents a gallon on Friday when I came home.
I have horses waiting to be fef so I'll will return after I get Cheryl in bed.
I will return  shortly. Pat my prayers are over you. God Bless.~ALMA

ABOVE ALL PUT ON LOVE..

In Jesus Name, Alma

Pat

Thanks Alma...   I'm going to try to be patient and just wait on the Lord.  His ways are always perfect.

Sounds like you have a lovely view from up top that mountain!

Hi, friends,

Leslie and I have returned to our home. The weekend was a very busy one, but unfortunately, his headaches kept him in bed down there.

The children took me (had planned to take us both) on the large lake not too far from their home. Wow, it was so breathtakingly beautiful, we ate at a marina, then back into the boat to watch the sun slowly sinking through the clouds, but leaving a beautiful golden trail on the water. Memories I'll treasure for a lifetime.

Then, today, I baked a chocolate, chocolate cake for his birthday. It's tomorrow, but friends gathered right after church for a picnic-style dinner and we all sang as he huffed and puffed and actually DID blow all those 39 candles out at once.

A good weekend, but I'm very tired and plan to go to fin my resting place in a few moments.

Just wanted to say "hi" to all who come and to let you know I love you, but God loves you MOST!!!.  :)
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Jeanne Lee

What a beautiful service we had this morning! A women's quartet called "Hearts in Harmony" led the entire service - almost all music, of course.  Totally different from our usual service and a real blessing.  Gene was laid up again with one of his debilitating headaches and had to miss it but I brought him home a tape.  Not quite as good as being there, but still great.  I also tried to get some pictures but haven't checked them out yet.

We were invited to a graduation party for a young man who lives next to us, being held at his grandparents' home.  But with Gene feeling so lousy, it didn't seem like a good idea.  I managed to catch the boy's father to explain why we wouldn't make it and gave him the card and money with our regrets.  There are three boys in the family and we've enjoyed watching them grow up over the last 12 years.

Pat I see over in the bi-weekly challenge folder that you said you announced the new challenge here in NEM, why don't I see it.

Ruth Ann so happy to hear that you have enjoyed your weekend with your family.

Alma it sounds like you have your work cut out for you being a 24 hr. home nurse, and you care for all the animals too. You certainly do keep busy. However it also sounds like you have more time to yourself than I do and I only work 7 hrs per day 6 days a week. Although it feels like i am working much longer than that. I just pray that I can keep on working long enough to put something away and pay off my current bills before I HAVE to fully retire.
