JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Stand against the wiles of the devil. . .  withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore.
Ephesians 6:11-14

[They] went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak. . . a lion met him by the way, and slew him.
1 Kings 13:14, 24

The need of the day is to stand for God.

Through sin, Satan attempts to weaken our resolve to stand. When we allow him an inroad, we shall soon be "found sitting," relaxing our spiritual vigilance.

Beware!

If we are sitting when we should be standing, it won't be long until the lion meets us "by the way."

"Watch! Your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour" (1 Pet. 5:8).
--Brian Cretney

"Oh, just relax," I heard him say,
"Why don't you take your ease?"
But stand I must, and simply trust
the One who stands with me.
B. C.

Will Jesus Find Us Watching?
(Click to hear music)

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Matthew 25:7

Fanny J. Crosby, 1876

When Jesus comes to reward His servants,
Whether it be noon or night,
Faithful to Him will He find us watching,
With our lamps all trimmed and bright?

Refrain:
Oh, can we say we are ready, brother?
Ready for the soul's bright home?
Say, will He find you and me still watching,
Waiting, waiting when the Lord shall come?

If, at the dawn of the early morning,
He shall call us one by one,
When to the Lord we restore our talents,
Will He answer thee, "Well done"?

Have we been true to the trust He left us?
Do we seek to do our best?
If in our hearts there is naught condemns us,
We shall have a glorious rest.

Blessed are those whom the Lord finds watching,
In His glory they shall share;
If He shall come at the dawn or midnight,
Will He find us watching there?

Happy Birthday to Al Moak and Ken!!!!!Have a wonderful day!

We are off to the bank this morning - hoping to get enough cash to carry us through the next five weeks - wish us luck.

Rachelle:  I just love your new puppy, Dexter.  They always look charming all curled and sleepy but oh, the trouble they can get into in a minute.

We are not used to inner city noise & the neighbors (muslim immigrants) let the little children play in an alley until 11 at night.  So much noise & we must have the windows open for air - no fans or air conditioning here.  Groggy this A.M. and tomorrow, we rise & shine very early to go to Dublin, Ireland for the first time in our lives.

QuoteThe need of the day is to stand for God.
A very great reminder, thanks Pat.

Anthony

Good morning to everyone on CP.  I trust that you are all well.  Thank you for the devotional Pat it was much appreciated.

Marilyn I am sorry that your hand is so painful and that you soon get some relief from the pain.

Happy birthday to Al and Ken I trust that you will have a great day today.  Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.

Carol you are going to be fairly close to me at Dublin.  I think it's about a 20 minute flight from Birmingham to Dublin.  Actually Birmingham airport hold classes for people who are frightened by flying and they usually take them to Dublin because it is so close.

Janet, I hope the day goes well for you and Beth.  We will be remembering you in prayer.

God bless to everyone.

Anthony.

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends,

Leslie and I are back from Atlanta.  Baby Georgia's birthday was a great success. She is such a ladylike little thing. Yesterday morning, she had on a dress with some swing in it, and, since she has been taking a few steps for three weeks, now, she can stand pretty well.

Mark was playing Christian music with a bit of a beat on the CD player. And, she was standing in the middle of the floor, swaying back and forth clapping her hands in time with the music, and then she discovered that her dress was swinging, too. It was such a joy to see the delight in her eyes at the simple pleasure of "dancing" to music glorifying our Lord and Master!

Then, instead of diving head first into her cake, she daintly took little pinches of the icing and tasted the cake. She really enjoyed it, but never went beyond those little pinches. It was hilarious. All the folk there really had a good time.

And, she was so cute when her gifts were opened, paying attention to each toy, thus giving all the persons bringing the gifts good feelings, too.

She really loves my son Leslie. So, after the party, in his arms she crawled for an afternoon nap.

All told, a fine visit and we both came home tired but glad we had been able to be there.

Y'all have a wonderful day.

Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.

Happy Birthday to Al and to Ken.  Don't these years seem to fly by as we get a bit older?  Hope you both have something special planned to mark the special day.[/b]

Ruth Ann, it sounds like you had a wonderful weekend.  Those little ones are so entertaining.  It is great that you live close enough to be able to see your son and family on a fairly regular basis.  The little ones really change a lot in just a short time.

Carol, I read on SeniorNet that you were able to get the cash you needed to complete your trip.  Enjoy your trip to Ireland.

Anthony, hope you have had a good day so far.  Know we have quite a time difference.

Pat, thanks for the devotional message this morning.

I started to get up in time to go walking but was feeling so tired that I laid back down for awhile and didn't go walking.  I think my cold is still sapping my energy so am taking it easy today.  I did stop at the hardware store for some brass screws for my frames project and then to the grocery store for a few itesm.  The housekeeper was suppose to come today but she called and said she was having trouble with one of her eyes.  She plans to try to come later in the week.

Marilyn, do hope your hand is feeling better.

Etta Sue

Marilyn, Power Point is used in a lot of churchs.  We have PP in both of our worship rooms.  In one we have a screen that we project the PP onto and the other we have two walls that we project the PP onto.  The pastors prints out their sermons and highlights what he would like projected.  All our words to songs are projected.  We don't use our hymnals at all.  I think that when you hear and see, it makes the worship service better.  But that is my own opinion.

Janet, my prayers are for you and Beth today as you travel to Lubbock.

Sarah, my prayers are for you.  Seems you are going through some tough times that God will ease if you open your heart.

Ruth Ann, sounds like little Georgia was the star at her own birthday party.  What a delight she must be to everyone she sees.

Jerry and I worked hard at church yesterday doing the duplications of tapes.  And we didn't have to do as many because last week's Master was bad.  We didn't leave church until 12:40 p.m and we still weren't done.  It was my day to choose where to eat and I was hungry for a steak.  So we drove 25 miles or more to Texas Roadhouse for steaks.  Yummmmm!  Superb!!!  I was so tired last night and couldn't stay awake watching TV so I went to bed early.  Good thing, because Inky woke me up early wanting attention.

It is bright and sunny here but soooooooo humid!!!  You feel like you just stepped out of a shower with your clothes on when you come back inside.  Yuck!!!!

On SeniorNet, in the Denmark discussion, they've been watching for several weeks some stork eggs incubated by Mum Stork and now they have hatched and are frequently leaving the nest.  It's really nice.

Oh! I see what you mean lol. ;) :D

Happy Birthday Al & Ken

This is a slightly cooler day on the island.  I was outside doing a little watering and petting the wee blind bunny.  Amanda likes to spend extra time with Cinnabun when possible.  Feeling lazy today. We went to Chemainus yest. and it was extremely hot.  Everything is so brown and dry looking in the town.  They are on severe water rationing (first time ever) and it does little for a tourist attraction.  I took a few pictures and will post something in the photo section.  Did a couple in the Challenge section this morning.

Janet, I will pray extra hard for Beth.  So sorry about all the problems your daughter is having.  This week, Wendy goes to the ICBC hearing and it will be decided about court...or if they  will settle without that happening.  It is called a Discovery Meeting.  She is nervous and upset about it all...doesn't do much to help her pain.  My, isn't life complicated?  I understand that ICBC is pretty nasty at these things.  Guess a lot of people try to fake injuries...don't get that tho' as their medical records should show the facts.

Here is a little chuckle, (I hope):

       "Answering Correctly"

A certain little girl, when asked her name, would reply, "I'm Mr. Sugarbrown's daughter."
Her mother told her that was the wrong way to answer, she must say, "I'm Jane Sugarbrown."

The preacher spoke to her in Sunday School, and said, "Aren't you Mr. Sugarbrown's daughter?"

She replied, "I thought I was, but mother says I'm not."

Must go and do some work now.  Pleasant day all and God Bless.

LOL - Liz - that was a cute one!..

Happy Birthday to both Al and Ken!  I hope this was an especially happy one for both of you!

Ruth Ann - How old is Leslie's little girl that you were talking about? She sure sounds like a darling.

Marilyn:  How is your hand today?

Pat - Abba Father is beautiful.  I hadn't heard that before.

Etta Sue;  We hardly ever use hymn books either.  But unlike you, I REALLY MISS the old hymns.  I have a CD player in my kitchen, and play all the old hymns, and sing along with them.  Now, don't get me wrong, there are some lovely choruses out there that I like as well, I guess my favourite would be: 'As the Deer Panteth".  I know Pat has printed that out for us before, so I won't ask for that again.....LOL ;)
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Marilyn

Judy "As the Deer Panteth" is my very favorite too. My hand is better today, I took a Vioxx last night instead of the Bextra and the pain left. Mayber the Bextra isn't strong enough.

I have a post of vegetable soup brewing on the stove, but not vegetable like you would think. It has tomatoe sauce, chicken broth, cabbage. corn, crooked nex squash, tofu, kolrabi, garlic, onion and brocolli. Oh yeah and some spices.

I am going to have my Nurse Practicioner give me a referral to a Rheumatologist tos ee if RA is really what it is with my hand.

As the deer panteth for the water[/size]
(Click to hear music)

Written by Martin Nystrom

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Last Friday I got a call could I come in to work this morning.  They needed some previously paid vouchers and copies made of the invoices that went with them.  I fully expected to spend a good bit of time in the basement going through the old records.  But when I got there, they only wanted two vouchers/invoices - one each for May and June of this year.  So I was finished in an hour.  Gene wasn't even up yet when I got home!   :o

He did get up soon after that, though, and we ran some errands together - replenishing suet and seed for the bird feeders, more books from the library, checking out some lumber for a couple of projects he has planned, turning in his trip sheet at the Senior Center...  nothing earth-shaking, but time consuming.

It's been a couple of hot, sticky days - real August weather, I guess.  July was one of the wettest on record - slightly more than double rainfall than "normal".  And now every time there's any suggestion of rain in the forecast they issue a flood watch.

Yes, that is a lovely song.

Pat, I went to Photo-Sense and discovered that my photo won 8th in the water contest.  That was a real surprise.  Have trouble using the site an only loads when in the mood.  That is why I sometimes use Photo-Bucket.  It always works!!
