JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.
1 Timothy 1:15

If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
John 14:3

These are two mountaintop verses and, as believers, we find ourselves living between the two great events of which they speak.

It is our privilege to look back and explore the first and then with all of the warranty learned from the first, move on in full assurance that the second is soon to unfold.

Soon we'll be home!
--Edwin Fesche

I wake in the morning with thoughts of His love,
Who is living for me in the glory above;
In glad hope awaiting till He calls me away,
And that keeps me bright as I go day by day.

I also want to say a big WELCOME to Luke!  I read your introduction and am very impressed.  ::)  You will really love being here in CP with other Christians who also happen to be photographers!   ;)

Good morning, friends,

My, goodness, I must have "slept slowly" last night - still tired and wonder where the night went.

At any rate, today's a new day to be with our Lord.

Pat I've always loved both verses in the devotional this morning.

Luke, and all our other new friends, thank you for becoming part of us. It will be interesting to read your posts.

Ruth Ann

Etta Sue

Pat, I hope you are feeling much better today.  Also in the post above, I couldn't get GLOW or SHADOW to work!!!!

Etta Sue

Larry ~ Yes, that groundhog is too smart.  He ate another four pieces of apple and didn't trip the trap!  (Say that 10 times real fast)  The guy said he got this trap real cheap from a Chinese man.  I guess you get what you pay for even in animal traps.  I am waiting for a call from the trap man to tell him his trap is faulty.

Janet ~ No groundhog on my menu!  That is about as appetizing as Mike's fish!!!!

Chris ~ I love your dolphin animation!  Very apt for Jenny's comment about lots of rain and water in your area.

Alan ~ The cottage garden sounds beautiful.  Will we see pictures later?

Marilyn ~ Yummmmm! Blackberries.  I loooooovvvvvveeeee blackberry anything!!!

Papa John ~ I am thinking and praying for you today about your possible tooth extraction.  That isn't fun!  But then, more fun than a toothache!!!

Ruth Ann ~ When I read about your deadlines, I thank God that I am retired.  Now my deadlines are less stressful like watching my favorite TV shows, getting my lunch before I get weak, catching up on the computer, and remembering to thank God for all the gifts he gives to me and my family and friends.  Isn't it wonderful to have precious memories of our spouses home-going?

Kind of cloudy and looks like rain.  Not much planned for today.  I did sit here and put Waypoints on my software for my Global Positioning Satelitte unit but when I went to upload it to my GPS unit, it wouldn't upload.  Me thinks it is another one of those Window XP non-compatible softwares.  So I may follow Jerry to his house and use his computer to see if I can upload these 80+ waypoints.

Etta Sue, remember you can run Windows XP to emulate Windows 98.  Just check your Help menu for details.

Welcome Luke to CP.  It is nice to have some young folks participate with us.  Fortunately we have folks of all age.  I am 63 and live in Atlanta.

I just had a call from the nurse at the cardiologist's office regarding the echocariogram I had done last week.  The doctor had just reviewed it and felt there had been no change in the ejection factor and that is good news.  When I saw him the other day he told me that I need to consider whether I would be agreeable to a heart transplant.  I do not have too many years before I would be too old to even be considered.  Right now I am doing fine and feeling fine most of the time so this doesn't sound very interesting.  I know this is a very tough procedure.  Needless to say I have made no decisions.  I will see him again in 6 months and perhaps discuss it more with him at that time.

I have had a frustrating morning in that I couldn't keep a connection with my DSL line to the internet.  It was connect and then in about 30 seconds the connection with be lost.  I called techical service and got a man in India, whom I could hardly understand, and he had me do a reset and told me to call back if that didn't work.  It didn't work and I didn't call back.  I tried changing some cables and bypassing my network but that didn't help.  Finally about 20 minutes ago I got a good conenction that is still working.  Computers can be very frustrating!! :-[

I had hoped to get a lot done this morning and it is now noon and just now getting to NEM and haven't even looked at the e-mail this morning.  Oh well, have all afternoon.  Pat went to the church this morning to help fold and put the address labels on our monthly newsletter.  This evening we will go for the Wednesday night supper, vespers and then I have choir practice and Pat will fix the children's packets for Sunday.

Marilyn, that blackberry jam sounds good.  Been a long time since I have had any of that.  My mother used to make it occasionally.

Janet, glad you were able to make those improvement for Beth.  Sure that she is appreciative of all you do for her.

Papa John, if you had to have the tooth extraction do hope it wasn't too bad.

Mieka, you have been given good advice.  All persons sin, whether we are conscious of them because there was only one perfect human.  We don't have to have broken the 10 Commandments to sin.

Jenny, so nice to see you feeling up to posting again.  I missed your postings there for awhile but understand that we all will have times when we don't feel up to posting.

Alan, also good to see you posting once again.  Your garden project sounds very nice.

Pat, sure hope you are feeling better today.

Ruth Ann, so glad that you were able to get the one deadline delayed.  Sometimes our bosses just have to face reality as to what can be done in a given period of time.

Guess I had better get a bite to eat.  A special hi to anyone posting that I haven't mentioned.

Carol

How wonderful to come in here and find so many birthday greetings!  You are making me "homesick".

Thanks all who wrote such special greetings.  It is different being away from home and missing the family.  We have been in France for the past week and so difficult to find an internet - was only able to check e-mail once.

It is good to read the notes from wonderful, loving people - like you!  Carol

Evangelism: Only the Spirit Can Give Sight

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are
perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not
believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who
is the image of God, should shine on them.
--2 Corinthians 4:3-4

The uncomprehending mind is unaffected by truth. The intellect of the
hearer may grasp saving knowledge while yet the heart makes no moral
response to it. A classic example of this is seen in the story of
Benjamin Franklin and George Whitefield. In his autobiography
Franklin recounts in some detail how he listened to the mighty
preaching of the great evangelist. He even walked around the square
where Whitefield stood to learn for himself how far that golden voice
carried. Whitefield talked with Franklin personally about his need of
Christ and promised to pray for him. Years later Franklin wrote rather
sadly that the evangelist's prayers must not have done any good, for
he was still unconverted....

The inward operation of the Holy Spirit is necessary to saving faith.
The gospel is light but only the Spirit can give sight. When seeking
to bring the lost to Christ we must pray continually that they may
receive the gift of seeing. And we must pit our prayer against that
dark spirit who blinds the hearts of men.
Born After Midnight, pp. 62-63

"Lord, I'll do my part today to share the Gospel with anyone You'll
bring my way. But Holy Spirit, I'll wait for You to open eyes and
give sight. I'll leave the results with You. Amen."

Marilyn    :-* save me some of that jam!  ;)  I remember reading a book when I was small called "Jam Tomorrow" and it  must have been a good read because it belonged to was my sister Lesley and she enjoyed it. She isn't "bookish."

Larry I do hope and pray that you will not have the heart transplant and that Our Lord will put His hand on your heart.  Yes, I am making headway after this virus.  Still feel rather chesty and weak.  I am taking Metatone Tonic which my Christian friends all call the 'Jesus' tonic. We use it at such times and find it beneficial after flu and other such resistance lowering illnesses.

Ruth Ann.  Do you think if I sleep "slowly" I can stay in bed longer?

Papa John.  Thanks for your comments last night.(yesterday afternoon your time).

Carol.  Hello. I am sorry you have difficulty finding internet cafe in France.  Nice to see you. K.I.T.

Going off air now folks.  I have some reading to catch up with.

Love,

Chris & Margit Saunders

It rained so heavily today that motorways and main roads were impassable in many of our areas.
But praise the Lord, He knows best!
And if we accept all things as such, then we have peace in our hearts.
To accept God's will at times can be painful and we can fight against it, but when we surrender to the fact that He knows best and that His plans will work out, always, then we can rest.

Please remember this good saying.
" The will of God will not lead you, where the grace of God cannot keep you!"
The greatest blessing comes through acceptance of that Loving Will.

The same peace that comes through the knowledge of sins forgiven, and a walk with our Saviour to Eternity.

mieka

My Papa John (hi Papa John  ;D 8) (((hug)))
Mieka, the Bible teaches we have all sinned.  As Christians when we do recognize our sins we confess them and He is gracious and forgives us.  As long as we put our faith in Jesus and do our best to live for Him we do not have to worry.  Remember that God loves us.

Rom 3:22-24  This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (NIV)

I Jn 1:8-10  If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. (NIV)

Mr Chris and Ms Margit
Jesus
came to bring us back to the God on whom we had turned our backs.
We were all born rebels, and had no desire for God, nor the things of God, they were completely foreign to our sinful nature.

Mr Moak
Mieka - please carefully read what Chris and Papa John wrote.  I think it will help you to understand.  If your heart can truly say to God, "I have sinned.  I am a rebel.  I am estranged from You," then you are repenting.  Then you simply must believe what Jesus said.  He said, "He that comes to Me I will in no way cast out."

Mr Hanna
Mieka, you have been given good advice.  All persons sin, whether we are conscious of them because there was only one perfect human.  We don't have to have broken the 10 Commandments to sin.

I thank you all VERY VERY much that you help me to undarstand this more.  I do know I have sin many times here and I am forever sad of this. I know where I have sin. But am I to be sad of my sin in the Heaven?   ??? Or is it all away now because Jesus did die for me?   ??? I do not remember what is my sin in the heaven at all.  ??? :-[ :-\

Papa John:
James 5:16  Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.  (NIV)

Papa John, must I talk of my sin with every one? So it is a repentant?  :-[ :-[ :-[ I have such shame at times for this.  :-[ :-\  Is it ok to only share this with God in my time of prayer?  ???  I do not wish to talk of my sin with others.  :-[ :-\ :-[ :'(

Dear Mieka, confess your sins to God alone, He already  knows all about them, there is nothing hidden from His eyes.
Your life is an open book before Him.
All your life is, as it were, being video-d
Only God needs to hear you repent and ask His forgivenness, because although you may have sinned against others, you ultimately have sinned against Him.
We can ask others to forgive us if we have sinned against them,( and  we should and must.)
Mainly God is the One we offend for a Holy God cannot look upon sin, but Jesus took our sins upon Himself while He hung on the cross of Calvary and when you ask forgiveness you are owning that Christ Jesus is your sin-bearer and admitting your need for an Advocate, a Saviour.
When we admit to God that we need Jesus, then it pleases the Father, for that was His purpose in sending Jesus to us to bear our sins away.
When we repent of our sins and confess them to Him then we are washed clean in Jesus' Blood spiritually, our conscience no longer condemns us, so there is no longer a feeling of sadness but instead a great feeling of thankfullness and gratitude and joy!

The words of this beautiful hymn will help.

Hi Mieka!!!  I agree with Chris.  You do not need to tell us (or others) your sin because they are private.  Sometimes, public confession is helpful because it lets others know how to pray and lift you up.

We took our dog to the vet yesterday (figured it was our service to the neighborhood).  Poor little Travis.  He could not understand why we would leave his doggy there.  He cried to hard he was sobbing.  I get teary just thinking about it.  He was most happy to hear that Boomer was home today.

My work shift has just finished up, so now it is time to find a bite to eat and try to get to church on time.  Maybe we'll make it.

I hope all is going well.  I'm doing better.  Still tired, but only sick once in a while, and usually then because I didn't eat right.

Mieka - if your sins are washed away through the death of Jesus, then they will never appear again - and you will never need to repent again.  You will indeed be eternally free of guilt!  Isn't THAT good news!

However, please be aware of the way God views our sin.  It isn't merely individual sins (the cross words, the mean thought, etc.) that God is concerned about.  The thing that truly must be dealt with is the sinful nature[/u].  Our natural hearts are in rebellion against God and do not want Him ruling over us.  We naturally want to go our own way, do our own thing.  It's THAT - the rebellious heart - of which we need to repent, as well as of individual sins.  We need to say, "God, all my life I've tried to avoid You, and I've wanted only to go my own way and not Your way."  We need to see that our Lord Jesus upon the Cross took the full punishment deserved by the wretchedly rebellious heart - as though He were guilty of it Himself (even though He wasn't).  If you believe this, if you trust Him to have done this for you, if you trust Him to be your Savior now, then you absolutely are eternally free!!!!!

Al Moak

Larry - I too hope you won't need the transplant.  However, I got to thinking about it, and, lo and behold, in the larger view you've already been given a transplant!  If your citizenship is in Christ's Kingdom, then you've been given a new and spiritual heart, one that will carry you into and through eternity!  Even your doctor needs to know about THAT!

Ruth Ann Bice

I see you've been interested about "sleeping slowly" - well, I will often say to my son that I must "sleep fast" if I've worked late that evening and know I won't get a full night's sleep because of needing to be at work really early the next morning (like at 5:30!).

So, since I didn't feel very rested when I awakened, I decided I must not have slept as fast as I should have. ;)

Pat, I certainly hope you feel better really soon.

Larry, such a challenge to face! I'll be praying with you that God will make plain the correct choice for you to make.

Y'all take care, I'm about to eat a bit of dinner, and then find my bed quickly so I won't have to "sleep fast" tonight!  :)

Love to all who come our way.

Ruth Ann

My goodness  I was typing away here and I saw my post just disappear except for a few words. This place has gremlins that eat our posts, me thinks. ::)

Only here for short time then off to Bible Study.

Al don't worry about getting out there to get more berries. I have discovered a wealth of berries at Gloria's apartment complex and no on is picking them.  will get out there as soon as it isn't raining while I am at her place.

Hi everybaody. No time right now to address anyone specifically except for dear sister Pat.

Hey Pat how are you feeling?  I am praying for you.

Larry I pray that your decisions will be whatever is right for you. either way you are a winner with Jesus.

Another really busy day for me.  I haven't read thoroughly today's messages, but will read them again tomorrow (I skimmed them quickly.)

Hi Pat, how are you feeling?  I hope the antibiotics are working and you are starting to feel your old self again.  I have been praying for you.

At 11:00 o'clock I want to hear the news.  I heard a man took a woman hostage at our Union Station and the police shot him.  Should find out the details.

Boy the Canadians do not have many medals in the Olympics compared with the States and the other countries.  But we are proud of the ones we did get.  One sprinter fell going over the first hurdle.  She probably would have been a gold for Canada.

Everyone have a wonderful day tomorrow.   God Bless

Hi from rain drenched Vancouver Island.  Happy to finally get some steady rain for a few days.  I have not been on the computer due to being ill with some sort of virus.  Gather that Pat is also having some problems.  People are spreading their germs all over the place and I was in the path of something or other....

Have not read all the posts so a little out of date.  A friend sent me this in an e-mail and I thought it might give a chuckle.  Not religious but certainly true about growing older....

This is all so true that I laughed very hard.  I hope you enjoy it.

  Retirement

I worked forty-five years for someone else
So that I could retire.
I dreamed of sleeping late
And sitting by the fire.

I dreamed of long vacations,
Enjoying stage and song.
But, let me set you straight on that concept,
It is simply wrong.

I did junk my safety glasses
And the work boots that cramped my toes.
But, the rest of it had a mind of it's own
And this is how it goes.

My wife had been thinking of retirement
And had plans of her own.
She had spent much time with the kids
But, now they are grown and gone.

We sold our cattle and horses
So we wouldn't have that chore.
I poured concrete over my alarm clock
But, I still wake up at four.

I get my eyes checked on Monday.
Ann gets hers checked the next day.
I go for a colon check on Wednesday
And pass my wife going the other way.

I have a dental appointment on Thursday.
Ann goes for a test on her heart.
Friday we go get prescriptions filled
And browse a while at Walmart.

Saturdays we just stay home
And try to get the paper work right.
We can't take any overnight trips
'Cause we can't see to drive at night.

Restroom confusion keeps us out of church on Sunday
And we really do hate that.
There's nothing wrong with the restrooms,
We just can't remember where they're at

We don't need to plan next week,
Just make sure we can drive.
And not forget where the hospitals and clinics are.
We'll need them to survive.

So, don't build your castles too high, my friend,
While strolling through the clover.
This is a typical week in retirement
And on Monday we start all over!

author unknown

Will check out all the postings another day.  Tired now and going to curl up with a book. Not in my chair as Squeek always gets there first :-\

Pleasant dreams and God Bless.

Hi Everyone...

I've been resting a lot today.  I'm feeling a lot better so the antibiotics are starting to work for sure.  Thanks so much Everyone for your love and concern.  It really means a lot.  My daughter came to see me today to make sure I was alright and she wasn't feeling well by the time she got here but we still had a lovely visit for about 4 hours or so.  Little Jonathan was here as well and it was good to see him.

What a great feast it was to come in here and read your posts and Mieka's comments as well.  Sweet Mieka, I got your message on Yahoo but hours after you sent it.  I'm so sorry that I wasn't at my computer when you paged me.

Now, it's time to lock the door.

See you all tomorrow...

I've been enjoy reading a book this evening!  It's called The Lord Our Shepherd[/b] by J. Douglas MacMillan!  It sure is a great book!  I've also been flipping through another one called Wrestling With God by the same author.  Great reading ahead for me. ;)
