JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Humility is the way for us to open communication with the merciful God of heaven. It is far better to pray in a private "room," be unseen by man, and have the approval of God than to give a public display of prayer and have a heart full of pride.

Morning Devotional...

Many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto Him: among which was Mary Magdalene. . . there was Mary Magdalene. . . sitting over against the sepulcher. . . In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene.
Mt.  27:55-56, 61; 28:1

Why did Mary Magdalene have the privilege of seeing the Lord first after His resurrection?

One obvious reason was that she was actually there, at the tomb, on the day of resurrection.

We can't expect blessing and help from the meetings of the Lord's people if we do not bother to be there.

Put Him first, and the saints next, and you cannot help but receive a blessing.

Good Morning from West Yorkshire, weather has usual miserable, dark clouds that look full of rain, but soon will be in sunny Malta.I always say we have to be glad that the good Lord allows us the privilages we have, whether the weather is good or bad, whether we are well or unwell, he will be there to help.

Thanks for all the friendship you all offer to me although 1000s of miles apart, and I enjoy the comments and thoughts that are put on this page, even though I do not write in it very often I read it every day.

Thanking you

Think it's too early to sing?

O Worship the King
(Click to hear music)

O Lord my God, You are very great;
You are clothed with splendor and majesty.
Psalm 104:1-2

Words: Robert Grant, in Christian Psalmody, by Edward H. Bickersteth, 1833, alt. This version is a reworking of lyrics by William Kethe in the Genevan Psalter of 1561

O worship the King, all glorious above,
O gratefully sing His power and His love;
Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.

O tell of His might, O sing of His grace,
Whose robe is the light, Whose canopy space,
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
And dark is His path on the wings of the storm.

The earth with its store of wonders untold,
Almighty, Thy power hath founded of old;
Established it fast by a changeless decree,
And round it hath cast, like a mantle, the sea.

Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail;
Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend.

O measureless might! Ineffable love!
While angels delight to worship Thee above,
The humbler creation, though feeble their lays,
With true adoration shall all sing Thy praise.

It's a bit of a foggy day where I live.    How's it where you live?

Ruth, that's incredible!  Imagine winning all those prizes!

:)  Good Morning Everyone!  Thanks Pat for the devotional and the song.  :)

I had a good day yesterday at church and meet a new friend, our new assistant "pulpit supply" pastor.  That is a funny term - but that is what they said.  I'll have to inguire futher and learn just what that is.  He is actually a retired minister and lives about 40 miles south of our township.  He's really nice and friendly and very knowledgeable.

I have to go to a Health Insurance meeting today, to find out what their plans are for next year.  Then, decide whether or not I want to change my plan of coverage in anyway.  Everything keeps changing; nothing stays the same. But I guess that is what life is all about.

It is so interesting to read the various posts here and get a glimpse into the lives of all the nice people who visit here.

Well, I'm off to read the insurance packet of information and see if I can "bone up" on what to expect today.

You all have a good and Blessed Day.

Pat

You be easy on those subs today, Sarah!   LOL  Have a good day in school.

Hi Mary!  Great to have you.  I'm so happy that you are enjoying the site.  So glad too that you now have a new computer so that you can come here each day.

Oh Alma> That is so sad. Thinking of you dear.

Good Morning: No Pat my fridge is not a new one but it is a good one.

This morning I am off to Gloria's for about 1 1/2 hours then to the Mortgage company to fill out paperwork to gret prequalified for some type of mortgage loan. This should tell me how much I can pay for a house. After all that is taken care of Don (the real estate agent) will start looking for a house for me. Yes Brother Al that is our mutual friend Don.

Gloria is going to get another caregiver as soon a s possible, that is good news to me. One that will completey take over her care. Her foot is worse with new new sores between her toes. The doctor is very concerned about this new ulcer. But I just cannot deal with the smoke and the lack of consideration on her part. Let someone else deal with it.

The message yesterday at church spoke volumns to me regarding where God wants me to be. It was definitely a message meant for me.

Must get ready for work now.

Sad news to report today  :'(

I lost my nephew Saturday to a motorcycle accident....actually
he laid brain dead the whole day. Plus internal injuries Thank
God his girlfriend jumped off and got only a somewhat mangled arm
but she will heal ..... but the big guy was pronounced gone from this life
at 6:00pm Sat. night his dad rushed from Alaska  over 2000 miles away
and just barely got to see him ...before the ailift team came in to
get his organs...heart liver and kidneys.....he was just 36 ...
I prayed all day saturday for the Lord to spare him and take me..i am old
almost 59 .....but it was not the Lords will.....Patrick was a biker many will
be here soon as his buddies come in from all over the nation....and I will
read this as my last words of him.and  I share them with you now, so you may know him......

PATRICK WAS MY WIFE'S NEPHEW, AND SO

I REMEMBER HIM EVER SINCE HE WAS JUST A LITTLE GUY

LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. THEN WE WATCHD HIM GROWUP,

INTO THE " GENTILE GIANT  " THAT HE WAS.

AND ALTHOUGH I NEVER AGREED WITH EVERYTHING HE DID

HE WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP SOMEONE,

AND IF YOU WERE EVER STRANDED ON SOME DARK LONLEY ROAD,

SOMEONE LIKE PATRICK  IS WHO YOU WOULD MOST HOPE TO SEE

HE WOULD ALWAYS STOP BY AND PLOW OUR DRIVEWAY,

NEVER ASKING FOR ANYTHING IN RETURN......

HE WAS JUST THAT WAY...

I UNDERSTAND THAT HE WAS ON HIS WAY TO DO A BENEFIT

FOR A KIDS  CHARITY. YES, THAT'S HOW PATRICK WAS.

AND EVEN NOW  HIS HEART MAY BE GIVING LIFE TO SOMEONE ELSE.

GOOD JOB BIG GUY !. . .   AND THAT PERSON WILL DO WELL,

BEACUSE IF IT'S ONE THING PATRICK HAD....IT WAS A GOOD HEART.

BUT FROM THIS DEAR FRIENDS WE MUST ALSO SEE THAT

HE DIDN'T KNOW WHEN HIS TIME HERE WOULD EXPIRE...

AND NEITHER DO WE. . . . BUT WE ALL MUST BE READY,

WHEN GOD CALLS. . . . . .  TO ANSWER THAT CALL   .... :'(

Thank You. . . .God Bless

JerryC That is a beautiful eulogy, I am sitting here with the tears streaming down my face.

A few days ago one of the fishing boats that goes out from Eureka carrying three fishermen did not return. The Coast Guard found nothing but debris out at sea. Please pray for the families of these three men.

There seems to be so much sadness in the last few days with some  of my close friends, my church family, loss of loved ones (that includes  pets) and here on CP. I pray that all those who are experienceing so much sadness with family problems, tragedies etc., will find that peace that passes all understanding. Lord God send the comforter to hold us in His loving arms and give us the peace that passes all understanding. In Jesus name Amen

Dear Everyone,

All who have sadness in their hearts.

I have just got back from a ride into the Old Village and a cup of tea with Khalida at the Post Office.  The Lord put this song on my heart.I came home singing loudly.....and then a lovely bus driver stopped his double decker for me to cross over the road.

"What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and pains to bear,
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.

Can you find a friend so faithful who will all your troubles bear,
You must never be discouraged...
Take it to the Lord in prayer
"  etc.,etc.,.......

Take it all to Jesus.  He can hear you.  He is our comforter and our dearest
friend.

Oh it's starting to rain again..must be my singing  ;D

Pat...Love you  :-*

WHAT A FRIEND
(Click to hear music)
Tune: The Rose

Traditional Tune: Charles C. Converse, 1832-1918

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He?ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer
Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.

A lot of sadness today.  A lot of CPer's sad because of lost loved ones.  My heart and prayers go out for each and everyone of you.  My graphic above may not be appropriate to some but hopefully, it is to most.

What a wonderful day Jerry and I had yesterday.  We did have two services yesterday but only in one room.  The Senior minister and the Teen minister, both had sermons in each service.  Yesterday was day 1 of "The 40 Days of Purpose".  The next 6 Sundays will be sermons on and about '40 Days'.  All the Small Groups will be meeting weekly to discuss the readings and be there for each other.  I gleaned a lot from this last year and I am looking forward in growing more with God this year.

The 'renewing of vows' for our Adult Minister and his wife was superb.  They have three children.  Stephanie is married.  Her husband and her are graduates of Johnson Bible College and he is a Junior minister at a church in Terre Haute, Indiana.  Jonathan is in his second or third year at Rose Hulman University with two majors...engineering and business.  Joy just started at University of Indianapolis and is living at home and working as well.  The boys (men) plays guitar.  All of them sing.  The bride work her wedding dress that she wore 25 years ago....lots of dieting and exercising she said.  They sang the same song to each other that they sang 25 years ago.  It was just a beautiful ceremony.  Then the reception.  Their wedding photos were displayed.  His parents photo...they are deceased.  Her parents photos of their wedding.  A beautiful display.  Mark and Deborah recently had their photo taken and was framed with a big matting for guests to sign the matting.  The Bride's cake and the Groom's cake was beautiful.  The only thing I ate was peanuts.  They both love peanuts and plain M&M's mixed....so I picked out the peanuts.

Tony called and said that the locks on the Ohio were closed due to high water on the Ohio.  Who would have thought that...no rain here for weeks!!!!  But it all came from the hurricanes in the east.  But they did spend the night on the Ohio River and ate breakfast at Leavenworth at a restaurant that overlooks a bend/loop in the Ohio River.

Kaye Don and Barb's grandson played in the football game they saw at Madison, Indiana.  They won, too!

Ivalou and I are going out to eat and then grocery shopping.  Bright and sunny today.  But I do have my Solar Heat on....cool outside...only 67 degrees F.

Well, good morning everyone, oops, it is now afternoon here.

Marilyn, I’m glad you got another fridge.  It doesn’t have to be new just as long as it does the job.  I hope things work out for the mortgage and a new home for you.

Jerry, so sorry to hear about your nephew.

Jenny, What a Friend we have in Jesus.  One of my favorites songs.  He has been my friend all my life.

Good to see you all today.  This afternoon we are going out to a new Chinese restaurant for a late lunch or early dinner.  Of course there is something much more important than food.

Matt 4:3-4
3   The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."
4   Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

So many sad things!  It is good to know that our God is still in control!!  I pray that God send comfort to everyone that has sadness in their heart.  I pray that we will all be looking for Him to be at work in all of these tragedies. I pray that we join Him to do our part to minister to those who are lost without His redemption.  God uses these times to draw near to His children- both those who are already saved and those yet to receive His salvation.

God bless you all!!

Revival: Doing the Will of God

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and
keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His
commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
--1 John 5:2-3

We urgently need a new kind of reformation throughout our Christian
churches--a reformation that will cause us not only to accept the
will of God but to actively seek it and adore it!...

The reformation we need now can best be described in terms of
spiritual perfection-which reduced to its simplest form is no more and
no less than doing the will of God! This would expose us all at the
point of our need, no matter how sound we think we are in doctrine
and no matter how great our reputations.

I long for the positive and genuine renewal which would come if the
will of God could be totally accomplished in our lives. Everything
that is unspiritual would flee, and all that is not Christlike would
vanish, and all that is not according to the New Testament would be
rejected....

Do we voluntarily and actively observe God's commandments, making
positive changes in our lives as God may indicate in order to bring
the entire life into accord with the New Testament?

That is the active aspect of the will of God that I would own as
reformation in the church, and it would surely result in revival.
I Talk Back to the Devil, 89-90.

"Oh Lord, 'I long for the positive and genuine renewal which would
come if the will of God could be totally accomplished in our lives.'
Let it begin in me...today. Amen."

Hi everyone.  We are getting a lot of rain today, maybe as much as 4 inches before it is finished.  We also have some wind but so far we have not lost power.

I spent the afternoon coaching a database class at the SeniorNet Computer Learning Center.  We have a good class and will finish next week, which will be a week early.

This evening I had a Worship Committee meeting.  However, they called this afternoon and said it had been cancelled due to the weather.  Needless to say I wasn't upset in not having to get back out in the rain and wind this evening.

Sorry to read of the sadness for several of our CP family here.  It seems that some days we dwell in very deep valleys.
