Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage.
Ezra 9:9

It took Israel 400 years of bondage, toiling under the whip of Pharaoh to finally cry out to God to save them.

The problem was not with God, for "our God hath not forsaken us." The problem was with Israel; twelve generations had forsaken Him.

Then we learn this marvelous truth, "God is faithful" (1 Cor. 10:13). God heard their cries and delivered them.

Friend, have you ever cried out to God to save you, not only from the bondage of sin, but the eternal suffering of hell?

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Rom. 10:13).
--Charlie Tempest

Cast thy burden on the Lord,
only lean upon His word;
Thou wilt soon have cause to bless
His eternal faithfulness.

Thank-you Pat.

God is indeed good to those who call upon Him in Truth.

"He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy sheild and buckler.
Because he has set his love upon me , therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high because he hath known my name."

Ps 91:4,14.

Larry.  So sorry you are feeling very tired.  Please take it easy for a day or two.  I know that's hard for hyou  ;) but wisdom is proved right by her children.

Beth.  Hello dear.  Gosh what a worry working out how to be comfortable in bed. This must be so difficult for you alone in that little place, with no-one there to help you. Your little feathered friend must be doubly precious to you these days.  God Bless you .. :-*

Good Morning Here it is almost 8 am here on the west coast of the USA and only 2 posts before mine.  Well I do pray that everyone is ok this morning.  I have to work on my PSP lessons this morning before I go to work as well as vacuum my house. I got some of the housework done yesterday still need to do my bedroom and the living room. The dusting can wait until I have time to do it. There are just not enough hours in a day anymore.

Hi Everyone!

Been doing a few tasks around the house before the hike this afternoon.  It's raining but we're still going to walk.

I've got my thermos of coffee in my bag and my water for both Geordie and I.

Enjoy your day folks.

We'll chat later.

Finally......we got some rain!!!!  Not much but a gentle rain.  The wind was strong and I heard this noise in the middle of the night.  Rain hitting the windows.  Weird noise.  Hadn't heard that for quite awhile!!!

It is cool out today and partly cloudy.  Not doing much today.  May move my bedroom furniture around.  My bed is in front of the baseboard heat.  Need to move it.

My goodness!  I'm home from the hike but not much activity here since I left.

It was a nice hike through woods and up and down hills.  With the arthritis in my knees, I found some of the steeper bits a little bit difficult but Andrew was there and he pulled me up!

For those of you who visit PHOTO-SENSE, the site may have been hacked or the data base has become corrupted and it's been taken down for 24 hours to see if they can get it back.

Oh goodness, Pat!  Hope it's back up and running soon.

We're just back from the American Legion where we had a lovely chicken & bisquits dinner.  Not really in our budget, but Gene does love their chicken & bisquits and it is only $6 per person, so we took the plunge.  And now I'm just stuffed.   :P

Last night, right after the game shows we discovered an old movie with Zachary Scott, Peter Lorre and Sidney Greenstreet which we couldn't resist and that was followed by Casablanca, one of my all time favorites.  So we sat through a real double feature in our PJ's.  Sure beats paying the price for movies today - and much more comfortable.   :o  After that the Maltese Falcon came on but neither of us could stay awake another two hours.  Too bad - it's another one we both enjoy.  Oh well.  I'm sure it'll be on again soon.

Hi, friends, I haven't even tried to figure out how many hours I've worked this week. Today's was "only" 7. So, I'm home, getting ready to fix a bit of dinner and need to head for the comfort of my bedroom.

It's so good to see so many people posting - most of the time, at any rate! <grin>

By Grace, we're glad you're back. May God bless y'all real good.

There's just something about that name
Master, Saviour, Jesus
Like the fragrance after the rain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

Kings and kingdoms
Will all pass away
But there's something about that Name.

This morning we finished packing up the car.  We had a little breakfast and went by the office and checked out.  It was a pleasant drive from Pigeon Forge to Nashville, about four hours.  I am glad to be back on my regular ISP with the fast cable connection.

Well, I have two doctor appointments this coming week.  Tuesday I go see my cardiologist who inserted the two stents last year and on Thursday I am scheduled for a colonoscopy to check that the cancer hasn’t come back.

Marilyn, I sent you a personal message about your question concerning the five stones.

I think it won’t be long now until we will start having cooler weather.  I really like the change of seasons.

Gen 8:21-22
21   The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.
22   "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."  (NIV)

Well, by the time I needed to head out to do my grocey shopping, the rain had stopped, and the sun came out, so it turned out to be a nice day after all.  Sure wasn't that great a day for your hike though Pat.  How many did manage to get out?

Papa John:  Nice to see you posting....I always enjoy your commentaries, and scripture verses you put here.  I noted that "Bygrace" was posting earlier....and Papa John posted the verse stating :" By grace we are saved etc."....was that a coincidence, Papa John?...<grin>

Days are getting much shorter., around here, its dark before 7:pm now.  Now that we are into the month of October, I start thinking about Christmas.   Oh dear.....

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have had another day of frustration with my wife's computer.  When I rebooted it last night it had reverted back to something using 100% of the CPU resources and this time when I tried to use the repair tools for Windows 2000 it wouldn't work.  So I had to reformat the hard disk and do a fresh installation of Windows 2000.  That went well but when I tried to set up the internet connection it just wouldn't work.

Finally I called my son and he came over and worked for a couple of hours.  We even called the D-Link technical advise person and did what was suggested but still are having no success.  The computer is running well but I can't get the wireless card to work.  I think tomorrow I will go back and reinstall the original recovery disks that came with the computer and start again.  So my spare hours tomorrow will be more of what I have been doing for the last two days.  This evening I was just too tired to work further on it and it has some games on it that my wife can use this evening.  So I watched the last half of the Georgia University football game with LSU (which Georigia won) and am now watching the Tennessee-Auburn game.

Papa John, glad to see you are home safe and sound.  Always nice to go and always nice to get back home.

Pat, it sounds like you had a good hike.  Was this event with your hiking club?   I am sure Geordie enjoyed the outing.

Happy Birthday, Nita.

Ruth Ann, I sure hope you will be able to get some rest this weekend and that next week won't be as hectic for you.

Jeanne, I saw where Casablanca as going to be on last evening.  However, have to say I am not one to watch many movies.  Guess I don't like to be tired down for 90 to 120 minutes.  However, my son is an avid movie fan and my wife also likes movies and watches a lot of them.

Etta Sue, glad you finally got some rain.  We were still in the low 80s today but suppose to be in the 70s toward mid week, which will be nice.

Jenny, I do rest when I get tired.  Unfortunately it doesn't take a great deal to bring on the tiredness. Regarding Tony Blair, according to an article I read last evening he plans to stay in office for 5 more years.  Looks like his heart procedure went very well.  It is pretty amazing how we can have procedures done on our heart and be up and about the next day.

Sonja, hi.

Marilyn, hope your PSP lessons are going well.  Glad to read that you have a new all-in-one printer.  Sure you will enjoy it.  I have a fax machine and while we don't use it very often it does come in handy occasionally.

See you all online tomorrow.

Nita

PAT SCOTT!  How in the world did you know that I'd check in here today?  I didn't even know myself.  I was so surprised to see a Happy Birthday, Nita.  Bless your heart, Pat.

I've just looked at the link you inserted, the prayer request for the missionary pastor.  If we looked only on this level, things seem so dark and burdoned.  Thank our Father God, we know that we are only pilgrims here, and our home is with God.  I'll be praying for this dear brother and his family.    Some day it may be here for us.

I went back and read of your puppies, Janet.  Did you know that I have 5 little ones here?
It was unexpected, we found Amy at the pound, but they are so sweet, and little just like their mom.  They'll are white, and all will be small.

It's good to see Jenny here, and Iain and all the new brother and sisters.

I see a new photo area.  Cool!  And a weight loss group.  COOL!!  I'm headed there now.

The season has changed....we are still having nice weather, but I've lost my need to weed, mow, plant, mow, weed, sit outside and look at the flowers, that need to be weeded..etc.  I'm very glad that seasons come.....and they go as the next arrives. :)

I've always learned so much about God, and His ways, from the seasons.  I want to more understand spiritual seasons....for they are more real and more relevant to us than any other.

Sarah, I'm so sorry about your loss, honey.  I know it hurts when someone important to us leaves.  But you know.....even in your pain, I guess especially in your pain, God will show you some life lesson that you could never learn any other way.  Just don't foget to climb in His lap through time alone with Him.....and let God love on you a lot. :)

Larry, thank you also for my birthday wish.  I'm sorry your day has been so frustrating.  Rest now. ok?
love, Nita

Pat

NITA!!!
I didn't know that you'd check in here today, Nita, but I prayed for you this morning.  :-*

I'm so-o-o-o-o happy to see you.  I am always blessed when I read your posts.

Yes, Nita, I've lost 26 lb.  I'm so happy about this.  And I find that our little Weight Loss Support Group on CP has really helped me with this.

Larry, the hike was the "Jack Scott Memorial Hike".  It was nice.  There weren't as many as in other years but that's fine.  Andrew was there and that was so thrilling to have our son walking.  Ian is in Ottawa visiting his boys and Janice has a 'Baker's Cyst' in the back of her leg so she's unable to hike now.

Pat can you finish this poem for me?  It is one mother used to repeat to me when I was young.

God has not promised,
Skys always blue.
Flower strewn pathways,
Alll our lives through.

But God has promised,
strength for the day.
And that is all I remember.  Any help here?

Carol

We have been running around going to hockey games and trying to clean the camper plus Don has a sciatic attack so he is not doing well.  I fell asleep in the chair and came in here to wake myself.  This is such an uplifting place!

Soni:  Yes, what a curteous trooper.  We are going to write a letter to his boss.  But - I always think people in Wyoming are very polite.

Etta Sue:  Just wanted to say hello to you as well - yes, we have 24 hour live-in angels helping us throughout our lives.  Say hello to Jerry!

Larry:  Thank goodnes we are safe, it did unnerve me more that usual and I don't know why.  I was just fearful that some driver might suddenly aim for us.  Laughing about your latest coffee with a big crowd.  It is so much fun to meet with dear friends and new friends as well.  Sorry about your 'puter problems.

Jeanne Lee:  I really like the old black and white movies sometimes.  We can see them on Friday nights but often forget.

Papa John:  Best to you on all of your medical tests.

Pat :  You had the hike!  Isn't that a wonderful rememberance?  So glad that it is still going strong.

Jenny:  Hi - Good to see that your Tony Blair is recuperating so quickly.

Soon the kids will be back and we will find out if tonight's game is won or lost.  They won this morning.  I sure don't like it that they play Sunday mornings.

WHAT GOD HATH PROMISED
(Click to hear music)

This is what He has promised us…eternal life.
1 John 2:25

Words: Annie J. Flint, 1919.

Music: William M. Runyan, 1919

God hath not promised skies always blue,
Flower strewn pathways all our lives through;
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.

Refrain

But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing sympathy, undying love.

God hath not promised we shall not know
Toil and temptation, trouble and woe;
He hath not told us we shall not bear
Many a burden, many a care.

Refrain

God hath not promised smooth roads and wide,
Swift, easy travel, needing no guide;
Never a mountain rocky and steep,
Never a river turbid and deep.

Refrain

Pat,

Jack Scott Memorial Hike?  In honour of your husband?  You have family in Ottawa?

I went on a long uphill hike today also, past a couple old cemeteries and an old mining area.  It was fun.  It was downhill on the way back (yeah!!!).  I was trying to find a bear, but didn't find any.

Ursula

Pat

Hi Ursula!

Yes, it's in honour of my dear husband!  It's nothing to do with me but I'm invited each year.  LOL

The first year, they went on Jack's favorite hike but with the older folks going to the hike, they found it difficult so now they have an easier one.

Yes, my son, Ian (our webhoster for CP) has an ex-wife who lives in Osgoode and his three sons live there so he had some concert to go to with the boys this weekend so couldn't go on the hike.
