Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence."
(Psalm 91:1-3)

Is it possible to live free from fear in this dangerous and unpredictable world? Yes, it most definitely is! Because protection is a solid promise of God.

But it's not a promise that's offered to just anyone; it is promised to those who abide in the Lord. To abide means to dwell, to remain and to continue. To abide in the shadow of the Almighty is to live in continual union with Him, keeping His Word and obeying His voice. Those who abide in the Lord can live without dread of what the devil will do.

Let me make this clear though-- God's promise of protection doesn't guarantee that the devil will leave you alone! It means that God will give you a way of escape every time the devil rears his ugly face at you.

If you are afraid of the dangers around you, spend more time in the Word and in prayer until your trust in God overcomes your fear. Draw closer to the Lord until you are abiding in the shadow of the Almighty and--no matter how dangerous this world becomes--He surely shall deliver you!

In My Heart There Rings a Melody
(Click to hear music)

"You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody.  You show that you are a lttter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts."  2 Corinthians 3:2-3

Words & Music: Elton M. Roth.

I have a song that Jesus give me,
It was sent from heav'n above;
There never was a sweeter melody,
'Tis a melody of love.

Refrain

In my heart there rings a melody,
There rings a melody with heaven's harmony;
In my heart there rings a melody;
There rings a melody of love.

I love the Christ who died on Calv'ry,
For He washed my sins away;
He put within my heart a melody,
And I know it's there to stay.

Refrain

'Twill be my endless theme in glory,
With the angels I will sing;
'Twill be a song with glorious harmony,
When the courts of heaven ring.

Good Morning Everyone!

I was in bed last evening nice and early.  And I slept well.  I haven't been up all that long!  :o

I do hope that you all have a wonderful day and that we'll have lots of messages to read in here by day's end.

Let's see if we can fill three pages.  I realize that numbers don't count but it sure does show me that you are all enjoying
this site.  [/b]

Hi Pat!  So happy to hear that you did sleep well.  We all need that refreshment so much.  About a year ago, I began taking a sleeping pill and it helps me sleep through the night plus more than the 5 1/2 hours I used to sleep.  Do feel so much better.

We had a phone call and my cousin is leaving Minnesota sometime this morning.  She will call later this afternoon if they can make it in here tonight.  I have been scolded not to cook anything - can't believe she did that to me... ;)

Be sure to get a pnuemonia shot!  If you can't get the flu shot - are you up to date?

Good Morning Thanks Janet for the devotional I pray Psalm 91 almost every day over my family and our troops.

I don't have much time to spend here posting this mroning, my computer is running very slow and I don't know why. I have  cleaned it up a couple of days ago and haven't downloaded anything. Ran the virus software etc.

Sorry I have not addressed anyone, Gloria has an early appointment with her Doctor about her foot.

Morning!  Great devotion, Janet.

I put some new recipes in the weight loss area for phase 1.  Plan to put a few more in today.  If you all have request just holler...like beef, chicken, soups, salads.

Papa John

Carol, I have decided not to worry about the flu shots.  If we get them, fine.  But if we don’t it will be all right.  We just try to take care of ourselves the best we can.

Jane, we did call our doctor and so far neither  he, nor the hospital where his office is have the flu shots.  I’m not able to stand nor sit in a long line but we will try to find some way.  I don’t believe we have missed taking the shots in over 15 years.

Ruth Ann, I’m glad you got your computer fixed up.  I hate it when they have problems.  I have been pretty lucky with my laptop so far.  I never ceased to be amazed with what a computer can do.

Janet, as I said our doctor didn’t get any of the vaccine.  Several pharmacies have had some but around where we live their supply was very limited.  Thank you for the devotional this morning.

Pat, I’m glad you slept well last night.  I woke up during the night and we were having a thunder storm and rain.  Our rain gage indicated that we had four inches.  There is some flash flooding in places but not near us.

Ps 4:6-8
6   Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.
7   You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.
8   I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.   (NIV)

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone. We got home last night around 9 pm after a long day spent mainly in the car.  In looking back at what I wrote yesterday morning I see I said we were meeting my cousin and family at 8 pm and I should have said 8 am.  We left the motel and easily found the first cemetary and found the marker of our relative that was born in the 1700s.  The cemetary was very overgrown and it was difficult to see the few markers that were there.  It was also overcast and the lighting was bad so I don't know yet how well my photos came out.

We then looked for another cemetary and did find another that had a several people buried with our family last name (Hall).  We then drove to downtown Knoxville and had lunch at a very nice place that overlooked the river.  We then got in the car and started home but chose to go the route that went through the Great Smokies and the Appalachian mountains.  It was a beautiful drive but lots of hairpin curves and it was very slow and took about 3 hours to drive.  We had to go back into North Carolina and then down through Rabin County, GA.  We were glad to get home and I went to bed within about an hour and was soon asleep.  I am pretty tired today but sure glad we had such a nice outing and had time to spend with my cousin, his wife and their son.

While I was writing the above a thunderstorm and heavey rain began and it is pretty dark outside.  Today the only thing on my schedule is to go to Calvin Cove for a short while this afternoon.

Etta Sue, I don't remember seeing the name "Etta" on any of the tombstones.  However, I didn't look at every tombstone.

Janet, thanks for the devotional.  Glad you were able to get the flu shots and that Beth also got hers.

Janet

Oh dear!!!  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ My face is so red!  And I apologize, dear Pat, for not working on the NEM last night!  I guess I just spaced it out, having gotten it ready before we left for Houston last week.  I'm so sorry............and Jenny, I hope you will come back in and post.  I guess I was thinking tonight was my night.  :-[ :-[ :-\

It is very foggy and cool here today.  We went to swim and now I'm doing laundry and catching up on here.  Have to take Beth to the dentist later, she also wants to go see her grandma, so we will do that while we are out.

I'm watching the news of the small plane that crashed in downtown Atlanta.  Thankfully, the building it hit was unoccupied, and no one on the ground was hurt, but both occupants of the plane apparently were killed.

Larry, welcome home!  I'm so pleased that you had a nice outing with your relatives.

This must have been me last evening............

I'm so confused. I feel like the centipede who was told to put its
best foot forward....  -- Anonymous

LARRY~That is what my sisters and I were doing in July last year: looking through the old cemetaries in and around the Knoxville area!  We also found the older ones were very overgrown.  I just heard from my youngest sister that she has been to Iowa continuing her search for ancesters.  She had success in finding several on our Dad's side of the family.  She really enjoys this sort of thing.

I have an appointment this morning for blood work in preparation for a doctor appointment next week.  At the moment it is not raining...In fact, I can see patches of blue sky!  Looks like this will be another good day.

PAPA JOHN~That's the way I have felt most of the time: If I get a flu shot, okay, otherwise I'll trust the Lord to keep me healthy without it!   :)

Gotta go .....  see y'all later.

EDIT:  Hey there, Janet!  I enjoyed the devotional today anyway!   ;)  I can easily understrand how you could "space out" given all that you have to think about!   :-\
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Etta Sue

Good morning, all!  A kind of overcast day today but so far no rain.  It is suppose to warm up in the next few days with sunshine.  Hopefully I can mulch up my leaves with my mower.

If any of you would like to see a 'feel good' movie, go see Shall We Dance?.  It is a top movie on my list.  Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Jennifer Lopez.  A great movie!!!

Ivalou and I had a great time together yesterday.

Greetings from a soggy and grey island.  That was a nice devotional Janet.  Made me feel better :)

I hope all you folks get your flu shots.  Had mine a few days ago...unfortunately, always have a reaction.  Still, better than the alternative...Certainly wish the problem would get resolved in USA and hope that it never happens again.

Ongoing tale of Misty and Squeek took a turn for the worse this morning.  Since it is raining so hard, Misty stays in the garage.  So does the car.  Ralph took Amanda to school and I took Misty inside my place and held her...hoping she would possibly show signs of being less wild.  Squeek came through her cat door (she is now quite proud of learning how) and they both started to growl and hiss.  I managed to get Misty back into the garage without her getting out of my arms and now Squeek is sulking and scared.  We are going to have to develop another system....Spring is a l-o-n-g way off....... :-\

My sister phoned from Australia last night and told me about the upcoming move from Queensland to Perth, to happen early in Dec.  She is 83 now and this will involve a great change, since she is selling their lovely home and trying to adapt to Jules' death after over sixty years of marriage.  Jo-Anne and Keith have bought 5 acres with a new 14 room house, suite built in for her, flying their two dogs, two horses, and Mary & Keith there, while Jo goes ahead to settle in at her teaching position at the university.  This will be a big change for my sister, she is used to being around people, taking her poodle (Gaston!!!!) for walks and talking to folks along the way.  She is in poor health and no amount of money can make her physical pain better.

I guess the normal thing for some, is to be jealous of that lifestyle, only thing is it doesn't come with having faith or knowing Christ.  So my life may have tiny budgets, no travel and other complications, but it still has the most important ingredient.  Christ as my Saviour.  That very fact is considered a threat by both my brother and sister and leaves me an outsider in their lives.  So be it.

Do any of you remember the movie, 'Finding Nemo?'  Read a cute little joke:

"Good News!  Restaurant ovner finds Nemo!"
Unfortunately for Nemo, it was a Sushi Restaurant!
                         ;D ;D

Pleasant Day all and God Bless.

Failure and Success: Faith Dares to Fail

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who
will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal
the counsels of the hearts. Then each one's praise will come from
God.
--1 Corinthians 4:5

God may allow His servant to succeed when He has disciplined him to
a point where he does not need to succeed to be happy. The man who
is elated by success and cast down by failure is still a carnal man.
At best his fruit will have a worm in it.

God will allow His servant to succeed when he has learned that
success does not make him dearer to God nor more valuable in the
total scheme of things. We cannot buy God's favor with crowds or
converts or new missionaries sent out or Bibles distributed. All
these things can be accomplished without the help of the Holy
Spirit. A good personality and a shrewd knowledge of human nature
is all that any man needs to be a success in religious circles
today....

We can afford to follow Him to failure. Faith dares to fail. The
resurrection and the judgment will demonstrate before all worlds
who won and who lost. We can wait.  Born After Midnight, 59.

"Father, keep me faithful today. I don't need to succeed in the
world's eyes; I'll wait. Amen."

Just wanted to let you all know, I've started to post some of the wedding photos from my interpreter's wedding here:
http://christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=3540.0

and here:
http://christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=3541.0

Only got 300 or so photographs to go through.

It's been rainy here the past couple of days.  We had an American family coming over for supper tonight.  They work for the embassy and had just moved here.  The wife called this afternoon, and said that her children were involved in an accident on the way to school this morning.  One girl had a split lip that required stitches, and one of the boys is having back pain, and they think he might have a cracked vertebrae.  He is going in for an catscan tomorrow and if they have to do anything they will have to fly him to London.  We're praying that it is not that serious.

Although you can also pray for us as well, traffic here is terrible, every day on the way to the institute I see at least one accident, sometimes more.  I've come to the conclusion that everyone here is a teenage driver.  Especially when you realize how 5 years ago, almost none of them drove cars.  Even when we turn 16/17 in the states and get our driver's licenses, we may be immature drivers, but we did at least sit for many years in the back seat of our dad's car and watched him drive.  No one here has done that, and you can tell as you drive.
A watched clock never boils.

Janet

Skief, I do hope the boy isn't seriously injured.  I am not good in wild traffic!  I think if I had to live in a big city and fight the traffic, I might just stop driving. :-\  I have looked at the wedding pictures, they are great!  I'm looking forward to more of them.

Oh, Mike!  That's terrible about the accident this morning.  I'll be praying for those involved.

Well, this has been a busy day for me and I'm going out tonight to a neighbourhood meeting.  We're having a special speaker tonight with regard to traffic as we're really upset by the high speed of cars on our street.

So, then I'll be back a little later.

Marilyn, I'm sorry to hear of Gloria's serious condition.  May the Lord be with her.

We have just got home from a Bible study.  A group of about 15 of us are meeting for six Tuesday nights, for an hour and a half, to study about "Faith in the face of terrorism."

Hope you all have a good rest this evening.

Janet

I went to the ladies' meeting at church tonight, just got home.  Earlier, I went and had a full hour's theraputic massage----heaven!!  A friend had given me a gift certificate for it.  Her daughter is the massage therapist.  It felt SOOO good, I didn't want to get up when she was through, just wanted to stay there and take a nap.

Now I'm headed for bed, see you all tomorrow.

Pat

Well, that sounds like a bit of alright, Janet!  I'd love to have a massage someday!

We had a good community meeting tonight.  We talked about traffic problems and other things.  Glad I went.

Marilyn

Janet I sure do envy you for that massage. Aren't they wonderful. The kids gave me one for my birthday. A deep tissue massage.

I have had a nice hot bath and now  am ready for bed. Don't have to get up early for any reason tomorrow, but nevertheless I know I will be awayke by 6 at the latest. Haven't been able to sleep in for years.

I am not working for now. Don't know how long gloria or Fay will be int he hospital so I called the Care giver Registry and signed up for relief work until I know about my own clients. They need relief workers real bad the lady on thephone just kept saying "Thank you" to me.

I have also signed up for SSI Disability early, just in case I don't go back to work. I will probably have to draw my unemployment and state disability first before they give me my SSI.

On to other things for now.
