I hate to bother y'all with my concerns when there are so many other, more dire, needs among you, but I am feeling very, very tired -- to near exhaustion -- with all the pummeling I have been enduring from the IRS over that past 14 months. 

Just when I feel I can breathe again, today's mail brought yet another blow concerning the Offer In Compromise I submitted last January!  These threatening and embarrassing letters and notices arrive every few weeks and seem to drag on and on. With all the other stress factors in my life this past year or so, I feel as if I've been beaten to a pulp.  I usually am strong and can rise in faith and overcome these things but, today, it just seems too much to handle. 

I guess what I am asking is that you help hold up my hands for the victory over this.  I need strength to endure.

Our gracious Father in Heaven I beseech you at this time to give Jane that strength that surpasses all understanding. The strength and endurance that only YOU are able to provide. Christ alone is our strength. I come to your throne Father in behalf of my sister, she desperately needs you to  give her hope, faith, and endurance. Boost her morale while you are at it Lord. Give her that extra bit of power Lord that she needs toget throught this situation with the IRS. Father I further pray that the IRS will lose all the  paperwork that has Jane's name on it and will not bother her any more.In Jesus Name Amen

Jane, so sorry you can't get a resolution to this problem.  I pray that you receive the strength you need to endure and that you will soon get this resolved.

Oh, THANK YOU all for your prayers ... I am feeling the release of the tension and God is at work!  My tax attorney (has Power of Attorney for 3 tax years) has always been so calm and tells me "Don't worry about it ..." But sometimes I feel like saying "Yeah, easy for you to say!" 

When this latest stuff came in the mail yesterday I called Jim and he had received a copy of everything as well.  He said he had called the person in Tenn. who keeps sending these forms back, etc.  He said it's just a couple little things she wants clarified so she can close the books on this.  I looked out the information and took it to him this afternoon and he said he'd get it in the mail right away.  He was also going to call the lady again, as well.  He's always told me "They won't take your house or car so you can relax."  He also has felt, all along, that they will forgive the entire amount because I don't have it and will never be able to get it so ......

Today Jim told me "They won't take your house ... in fact they don't want it!"     Things would get a lot worse if they had to find another place for me to live.     He said they just want to clear this up and close the books.  Well .... you can be assured I let him know that was my hope too!  I believe the Lord has answered these prayers from all y'all and this will be a done deal very soon.

Jim also told me that the "turn around" time that these people had responded was the fastest he had ever known ... usually it can take a couple years!     

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow .... and Thank you, Marilyn, Jenny, Carol, Judy, Larry and Pat ....

Jane, this is such good news. I know this had been hard on you.  Yes,  it's been a rough year, huh?  It's so good to know that our Father has already been here right where you're standing now.   AND He's already solved it.  And you are His.

Yes, NITA ... God is soooo GOOD -- ALL THE TIME!  It HAS been a really rough year (or more) but HE has been right here beside me all the time.   

Jane, my post got lost, but understand that I, too, am praying for you. How wonderful to think of this network of prayers - almost like the net under a high wire flyer - when we can't go any longer on our own and must fall - that net is beneath us to hold us up. To keep us from falling. praise God for prayer - the power of prayer - the power of our Father who hears our prayers.

Just as I was feeling a bit of relief last night I received word about Bryan.  He is out of the Army, but the circumstances are not good ... Now our prayers need to refocus toward him and his mother.  God knew I needed the load lightened a smidge before laying this on me ... I have learned, though, that the "load" really isn't mine to carry.  I quickly take it to Jesus and roll it off on Him.  <Then get ready for the next one!>

oh dear, I too am having this same experience, just as things seem to be smoothing over along comes another one.... Our Redeemer is strong, sister.

Did you ever contact the tax advocate's office.?

They are suppose to intervene and stop these annoying, even
threatening letters.

In fact, the IRS is suppose to be more friendly and if they know
a tax advocate is assigned to your case--they must stop contacting
you directly.

Good news about Bryan.

Joyce~I contacted everyone I could think of to contact!!  The Tax Advocate just kept telling me to write another letter explaining my circumstances, etc.  Finally it came to where I was told to take it to tax court .... That's when I phoned this Tax Consultant in town.... I initially just wanted to know how much help I could get for $35 (the advertised fee for the first 1/2 hour).  Over the phone this very gentle, reassuring voice said "What's the problem?"  As I began to try to condense it into a few sentences he said "I can help you with that."  He said there are forms and things that they never tell a common taxpayer but that he knew and that he could talk with the IRS about whatever I needed done.   To top it off .... THIS MAN HAS NEVER PRESENTED A BILL!!

I mentioned, once, that I felt I owed him some money and he just shrugged and said "You don't owe me anythig."  I think believe he is an angel!   

Could be that he is Jane.

Oh, how wonderful, Jane.

Pray that that same angel will help me .....

It looks like I got in on the tail end of this.  I know I serve an awesome God!!  And that he answers prayers & I have a great testimonial in regards to what I call "The Lord As My Witness."  I'll have to tell you about it later!!

I'm just reading this prayer request today and want you, Jane, to know that you are very much in my prayers concerning this IRS situation and your son, Bryan.  Someone e-mailed me a Bible passage (Romans 11:33-36)that spoke to me when things seem to overwhelm me.  I seem to forget that my heavenly Father is all-knowing and all-caring.  When things are not going good, I have friends to call on for prayer, His Word to meet whatever my needs are and the unfailing guide of His Hand as I call to Him.  I love you,.........    kathy

Jane - Read. Romans 11:33-36!

The saga with the IRS continues ... I am just getting tired of messing with this.  It's been over a year now since they first got in touch with me. 

Now I have received notice that I must have detailed reports of what I did with all monies received in the years 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003!  Their "investigation" shows stuff that has nothing to do with me, and I must refute or explain it by January 3, or all deals for Offer In Compromise are off!! 

I'm not really too concerned, because I do have proof/receipts for most of what they want, and can explain/estimate the rest.  I do not, nor have ever owned a 1999 green van, though!  Nor am I "secretary" to a corporation they think my "husband" owns (Walker & Co.) ... They also think I am Trustee to a Trust that is still active, but that is the Family Trust they have listed at this address and it's who I bought this place from.  I wish I did have all these assets ... I'd very willingly pay them all they are demanding! 

All this "investigation" and demands are causing me to feel like a criminal, but more importantly, I'm afraid it is causing my POA to doubt my integrity and distrust me as well.  I called his office yesterday, after receiving this latest demand and ultimatum, and heard the message that "the office is closed until Monday ... Have a Merry Christmas"   Right! 

Aaaahhhh well .... I guess I will just have to wait until Monday before seeing the attorney.  That will only give us a couple daze to get all this stuff off in the mail to reach its destination by January 3.   

My strength is in the Lord ... but sometimes I just wish it was all over NOW!!   

It isn't surprising Janey that the IRS is so dumb.

Any possibility there's someone using your SSN, Jane?

I am certainly praying that that is not what has happened to Jane, RuthAnn, but it does sound like a very scary possibility.

Ruth Ann and Sue~This is, indeed, what seems to be the case -- at least partially.  Last year I asked for a copy of my credit report.  It contained some information about "past due" ammounts on two different accounts that are not mine!  There was an address in Charleston listed for me, as well as mine here in Coos Bay.  Also, and I just noticed this last week, two birthdates! 

I wrote about the errors and they subsequently removed them from my credit report. 

There is, or was, another Jane P. Walker living in this area (Charleston?).  When I opened my bank account the bank officer noted there was a "red flag" for my name ... but then, after checking my birth date and SSN, realized that was someone else.  Another time, when I went to Rite Aid to pick up my prescription, they had records for another Jane Walker ... had to verify mine by birthdate. 

This may play a factor in the IRS "investigation" but I would think they would investigate according to my SSN ... that bit about my being secretary to a "J.R.Walker & Co." should be easily verified if they were searching my SSN instead of name! 

Oh, well, I have most of the verification they have asked for ... and the explanation for the rest ... and will see the tax attorney tomorrow.  Pray that I will have enough to satisfy the IRS demands, and that we can get it all in the mail and to its destination on time (by January 3).

Once this Offer In Compromise is accepted I have to file one with the State of Oregon! 

I took what information I had over to the tax attorney (he has Power of Attorney for me for tax years 2001, 2002, 2003) and he is going to fax a cover letter to the OIC office in Tennessee either today or tomorrow (when he gets it figured out) and follow up with mailing the many pages later.  He tells me they "just want to get this all settled, hopefully by January 15."  Well, they don't want this more than I do! 

Please continue to pray that this will be the last of this mess.  I am really becoming weary and would like to get on to other, more enjoyable, pursuits.

I , too, know how exhausting these matters can be.

I just give them what they want --bury them in paperwork --
but at least you are showing them that you are trying to
rectify the situation.

This goes a long, long way --tax advocate will be able to
help you better when he has "all" the i's dotted and t's crossed-

What a story you have, not that anyone want's it for it sounds exausting.  I remember going to the DMV in California & In the same area where I lived there was someone by my name.  I didn't have anyway of checking them out (no computer @ the time, etc.......).  Nor did it turn into a night mare, like this one.

So, It sounded like it was suppose to be a rap as of January 3rd.  Then I saw that ya had written January 15th, in a more recent letter.  Did you get an extention on gathering information, to put them in their place.

I hope that they bark up the right tree here pretty soon.

Actually, K4J, All the (pages and pages of) papers are supposed to be in the office in Tennessee by January 3 ... They will then have to sort through them, find what they need, and either refine their "search" or drop it and have it all wrapped up by the 15th.  There's a lot I have left out of the "story" as posted here ... just stuff.
