JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

And when any will offer a meat offering unto the Lord, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon.
Leviticus 2:1

The moral beauty of the Lord Jesus can be seen actually in the Gospels, doctrinally in the Epistles, and typically in the Tabernacle with its furniture and vessels, its sacrifices and offerings.

The flour of the meal offering was the finest of fine flour, with no coarseness at all. It was made fragrant with frankincense and was offered as a sweet savor to God.

So was the life of the Saviour a perfect blending of every moral virtue and every pleasing feature, a cloud of precious human incense ever ascending from Him to heaven.
--Jim Flanigan

The fine flour in its beauty
the perfect Man portrays
In all His path of duty,
in all His heavenly ways.

He is very depressed.

It is today ReformationDay there is also coming a new Bible today must be very easy to read but i have the Bible not.
But maybe i buy the Bible but Bibles are not cheep here and i have 2 different Dutch Bible's.

Psalm 23 : 1-3
The Lord is my Shepherd,
I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul.

                                     SECURE IN YOUR LOVE

                                       Gentle Shepherd

My, but that would be a scare to all the kids and their parents.  I am praying that the stranger is caught....soon before he does do something dangerous.

Yes, it was fun yesterday at the Band Competition put on by Bands of America.  And, Larry, there was a band from Marietta, Georgia, there.  We didn't stay for the top ten competition last evening since my g-niece's band didn't get in the top 10.  Ironically 6 of the top 10 were Indiana bands.  Sounds biased to me!

Ready for church.  Today is my Sunday to man the lights so Jerry and I are going in a half-hour early.  Will be a long but fulfilled day.

I do pray that all of you go to God's house today.

Good Morning to all an hour later as I fell back to enjoy an extra hour of sleep.

Ria, I pray that you will find a restful night of sleep.  Its hard when your mind keeps going over and over things that are happening to you and your loved ones.  But, still, try to find a calming spirit as you call on Jesus's name.  I have been under family  STRESS lately myself and try to sing the song "Count Your Many Blessings"  or "Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus" .  I think I will have to seek the help of a Christian counsler to help me overcome these periods of dismay that I feel and I am thankful for the fact that they are there to be able to help.  Oh well, enough about me feeling sorry for myself today :'(

Let's just Praise the LORD.  Praise the LORD for today is His day. :) :)

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No man cometh unto the Father but by me.  John 14:6

Kathy and Ria.

God gives a peace that passes understanding in turmoil.  The way to get that peace is to go to the cross and leave the burden there.  As is so common for me I take my burden to Calvary, drop it, then pick it back up when I leave.  Our Abba Father cannot take and do anything with the burden as long as we are hanging on to it!  When we leave it behind then that gives room for God to work.  This is a hard thing for me to do as I tend to be a fixer.    I am praying for you both.  Ria repeat the 23 Psalm as you go to sleep.  Keep repeating it and you will find you will sleep more peacefully.   May God be with you both and give you Peace.

Jenny

Just calling in to say Hello this afternoon.  It is suddenly nice and fine outside so I am off for a ride around. Might get some pics...just for me.  Mine are too big for Gallery Pat.

Marilyn.  Can you post some info re Victor Oliver please...

The Lord Bless you all.

Jenny.

It is a beautiful Sunday morning here in Georgia.  We have a long day at the church today because after Sunday School and worship we have the funeral service at 2 pm for our friend Joe.

Etta Sue, I hadn't realized this was a national competition of bands.  Surely the judges were not all Indiana based so would tend to think the results were unbiased.  The bands add a lot of energy to the events in which they participate.  Something is lost when we just see them on television.

Ria, do hope your dizzy headache is gone soon.  I know that is difficult to deal with.  The hours spent with your dad are very important, even if he doesn't seem to respond very well.  I believe that a person confined like your dad is soon find their world getting very small and probably just don't have very much to talk about.  That combined with depression would certainly make it difficult.  It is your presence and not your words that count.  I spent many hours just sitting with my dad as he slept or watched tv but he knew I was there if he wanted to talk.

Kathy, the extra hour of sleep was pleasant here as well.  Hope you find help to your concerns.

Pat, thanks for the devotional this morning.

Beth, sure glad you are having success with they new medications and can have some hours without pain.  Hope your mother, Janet, is feeling better by this time.

Marilyn, I believe the diabetics must crave sweet things.  Our daughter is a diabetic and refuses to watch what she eats in the sweets category and doesn't eat on a regular basis.  It is very frustrating to see this happen but these are adults and have the right to make their own decisions.  Unfortunately the impact of their decisions often have significant impact on others, especially those who accept a care responsibility or within the family.

Checksix, the person causing all the troubles didn't exhibit a great deal of common sense.  Calling from the school was really strange.  Just glad it was all resolved and am sure more controls will be instituted to protect the students and the school.

Ruth Ann, enjoy the time with your grandchildren.  Sure hope the other grandchild doesn't have a serious problem.  Enjoy your rest and have a safe trip home.

Jenny and Sonja, I did enjoy the football games and my quiet time yesterday.  In the evening, after supper, Pat and I played some gin rummy and that was enjoyable.  Jenny, hope you enjoy your ride outside today.  Glad it is nice outside over your way.

Thank you Pat for the devotion this morning.

Ria Psalm 23 is part of my prayer time every time I pray and as I go to sleep at night.

Today after church we are having a Family Harvest party for the children. There will be a BBQ at 2 pm. People with trucks were asked to decorate the tailgates  to hand out goodies for the kids. There will be games that the whole family can participate in doing. Everyone was asked to dress like a Scarecrow and there will be prized for several categories. There is also going to be a Cake Walk for the Adults and one for the kids.

I asked Gilbert if I ccould take the kids, and he told me he will come to church one time  (not today) to check us out to see what kind of church we are before he will let the kids come with me from time to time. Well, at least he says he will come sometime that is an improvement. Thank you Jesus.

I loved playing gin rummy when I was a kid with my Grandma who as passed on.  She taught us alot of games.  One of my favorite memories of her.  I just wish I could find someone here who likes playing cards.

Good morning, folks!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

The words of this hymn are so meaningful to me.

Gathered to Thy name, Lord Jesus[/u]
(Click to hear music]

Words by C. A. Wellesley

Gathered to Thy name, Lord Jesus,
Losing sight of all but Thee,
Oh, what joy Thy presence gives us,
Calling up our hearts to Thee!

Loved with love which knows no measure
Save the Father's love to Thee,
Blessed Lord, our hearts would treasure
All the Father's thoughts of Thee.

All His joy, His rest, His pleasure,
All His deep delight in Thee;
Lord, Thy heart alone can measure
What Thy Father found in Thee.

How He set His love upon Thee,
Called Thee His beloved Son;
Yet for us He did not spare Thee,
By Thy death our life was won.

Oh, the joy, the wondrous singing
When we see Thee as Thou art,
Thy blest name, Lord Jesus, bringing
Sweetest music to God's heart!

Notes of gladness, songs unceasing,
Hymns of everlasting praise,
Psalms of glory, joy increasing,
Through God's endless day of days!

Pat.

I have just come home from a lovely ride out....and joy of joys, what a wonderful hymn.  How wonderful those words....

"Yet for us He did not spare Thee.
By Thy death our life was won."

Praise God!....Praise God!..He giveth the victory.

Took some pictures and then I realised I had turned the flash off...and it was dusk in the park. Silly me  :-[  I think I can rescue some of them.

Love,
Jenny.

Jane Walker

I have been reading your messages this morning and couldn't help but think of a poem I keep with me (in my Bible) that I would like to share with y'all here:

Broken Dreams

As children bring
their broken toys
With tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams
to God
Because He was my Friend.

But then instead
of leaving Him
In peace to work alone,
I hung around
and tried to help
With ways
that were my own.

At last I snatched them back
and cried,
"How can You be so slow" --
"My child," He said,
"What could I do?
You never did let go."

Jane.  Thank-you...

This puts me in mind of that song from South Pacific..

Shine, Jesus, shine,
fill this land with the Father's glory;
blaze Spirit, blaze,
set our hearts on fire.

send forth Your word Lord,
and let there be light!

We are back home this afternoon and watching the clouds - a storm warning for other counties but we are not in it at this time.  It is quite a bit colder today.

Jenny:  I wrote down the books and will see if the secular library has any in stock first.  I hope that you can salvage your pictures in the park taken without a flash.

Ria:  So sorry to read that you are not feeling well.  My good wishes for a good check-up at the doctor.

Soni:  You had some snowstorm!  We have not had a flake but it will happen at any time.  We live in the "Banana Belt".

I feel so tired after visiting with children since Friday and it was so much fun.  However, we do tend to be drawn into their personal lives so much more whenever we visit - they all want us to move closer.  I also feel that we should make the move at some point as it is lonely here if one of us is not well and we must face facts.  This is just so bothersome to me - I would be the first to tell someone else to turn it over to the Lord - now, anyone of you can read me the same message. I feel so undecided  :-\  and it really is not my decision in the long run at all.

GOODNIGHT

Liz

That was a lovely devotional, Pat.  Also loved Chris & Margits link.....checked out the Hyacinth part and that was funny!

Today is chilly and bright.  I have not been outside much as sort of having physical problems.  So have to rest lots at the moment.  Squeek came and curled up on my chest last night when I fell asleep on the sofa.  She would make a good nurse...whenever anyone of us is feeling ill, Squeek devotes herself to that person.  Pets sure are neat! ;D

Could not go to church today.  Watched Robert Schuller and there was a really good message.  The US Olympic Gold Medal winner, Jenny Finch, gave a marvelous testemony.  I was really impressed by her quiet, sincere and humble attitude.  The message from the pulpit was also helpful:  "God has not given us a spirit of fear but a spirit of power and a spirit of love and a spirit of self discipline." (2 Timothy 1:7)
That is something we all really need to hold onto in these changing times.

Victoria is currently doing a great business in flu shots.  (People being motivated by fear)  A couple of the charter services have a run from Washington to Victoria, giving flu shots as part of the trip.  They are doing a great business!  Seems if something is hard to get, everyone suddenly wants it.  I get a flu shot every year and have since becoming older.  Wendy, because of her bad health.  Know many folks who wouldn't dream of having one.  Go figure...... :-\

Read something from CNN.com that was interesting:  Dog saves woman's life by calling 911
The dog, a four year old Rottweiler, phoned 911 when the lady fell out of her wheelchair.  Faith is a trained sevice dog.  Pushed speed dial 911 with her nose, after taking the receiver off the hook.  Barked into the phone until they paid attention.  Even unlocked the front door for the police officer.
This is a true story.

Janet, I posted my album site so you might view the pictures that came out  X  .  Go to Google and try:

http://www.liz.photo-sense.co.uk/gallery/

I must go out and try to bring Misty inside.  Amanda is away at a friends and Wendy couldn't get her inside.  They are starting to explode firecrackers outside.  Ah, the joys of Halloween :(

Pleasant day and God Bless.

Liz
CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Nita

Hi all.  We are having a beautiful day here on the Oregon coast. The sky is blue, with lots of sunshine.

I do pray that all of you go to God's house today.   Heh, Etta Sue....I AM God's house. :)  And so are you.  But I know what you meant.   ;D

Janny, hope you don't mind.  I sang your song with you. :)  Shine, Jesus, Shine........

Soni, I'll take some of your snow.  Just a little bit. Well, actually.......just send the tree.....or maybe just the photo of the tree with the snow. :)  ;D  I really like to look at snow....that's about it.  I like YOUR snow.

Liz, that's really something about the dog calling 911.  Those service dogs are almost a miracle.  I would think to those needing them, they would be that miracle.  They are so devoted.

Good night, dear RIA.  Sweet dreams over there in Holland.

Carol, I guess the hardest thing for parents is staying out of their "stuff".  I've never been able to make it. :-\  We love them so much, and want them to be happy and be all they can be.  We want good relationships and every good thing.  I sure can relate to your being tired.  I can just get drained being around my kids when there is confusion in their lives.  I come home being wiped out.  Strange, huh?   I'll pray for you.  You pray for me. :)

Jane, I used to have that poem on my refrigerator.  You gave it to me. :)  How true.

Larry,  I pray the funeral services were filled with a settling and assurance.  They are missed, but oh the joy on the other side when one goes home.

Hope you all are having a blessed day.  Nita

Larry Hanna

We had a full day today.  We had a special preacher this morning, a black man from South Afriica who had served as the head of the Presbyterian Church of South Africa.  He was a powerful preacher and really made us think.

The funeral for our friend was sad and yet filled with wonderful memories of a fine Christian man.  There was a large crowd and we had 16 choir members and we sang "On Eagles Wings" as an anthem.  Two ministers participated in the service.

I saw the story on the news last night showing the dog that dialed 911 and the lady involved.  The dog is also trained to open the door for firemen and policemen is something happens to the lady.  Quite a great story.

We are having many children come to the door for trick or treat tonight.  Hope the candy holds out.  We must have had 50 already in about 35 minutes.

Carol, it looks like the Atlanta Falcons are beating up on the Denver Bronchos.  I thought at the beginning it was going the other way.

Al Moak

Thank you Chris, for that hymn.  I concur.  Mr. Bunyan learned the hard way to walk with his Lord!

Papa John

Jenny, we often sing this in our assembly:

QuoteShine, Jesus, shine,
fill this land with the Father's glory;
blaze Spirit, blaze,
set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river, flow,
flood the nations with grace and mercy;
send forth Your word Lord,
and let there be light!

I haven’t been here a lot in the last few days.  Sorry.  We have had a wonderful day.  Our Bible class this morning and our morning worship were great.  Cornelia, Martha, and I had a good lunch right here at home.  It was a breakfast lunch with ham and eggs and toast with grits and also orange juice.

We went to church early tonight.  After worship we all met in our gym and had a chili and hot dogs supper and after we had “Trunk or treat.”  All the children were dressed up in their costumes and they went from car to car with their trunks decorated and a supply of candy which was given out to the children.  Everyone had so much fun and the children were delightful.  A big tent had been set up for a kind of overflow from the gym.  With all the adults, parents and children we had about 800 people.

Papa John your church did the same as our church...only we are a small country church with about 50 -60 people showing up at night.  When you said 800 all I could think about was fixing the hot dogs for that many people.  ::)   Whew!!

It was a most beautiful day in the 80's with sunshine all around.  The sky showed her bluest blue ever.  This weather is most unusual for October's end.  We honored our pastor with a lovely painting this Pastor Appreaciiation Month.  For all you pastors here on CP, Papa John, Al, & Skeif  I thank you for being God's shepherd for His many sheep.

Thank You, Jane, for the poem.

We had a good turn out at my church too. I came home about 4PM because the kids were coming over. I will post a photo of them as soon as I get it out of my camera and edited.. That's all folks for tonight. Lots of fun and games for the kdis. There were so many cups cakes for the cakewalk that every one got a plate full instead of one cupcake.
