JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Behold, a woman. . . touched the hem of His garment.
Matthew 9:20

That they might only touch the hem of His garment.
Matthew 14:36

When Sir Joshua Reynolds painted the portrait of actress Sarah Siddons, it was declared to be one of his finest paintings.

He assured the subject that it would some day be world famous, adding: "To confirm my opinion, here is my name, for I have resolved to go down to posterity on the hem of your garment."

There in the portrait, on the edge of her dress his signature appears. Yet multitudes have found not empty and fickle fame but "all things that pertain unto life and godliness" (2 Pet. 1:3) kneeling at the Master's feet and touching the hem of His garment.

He is available today.

And He is approachable, as well.

Lord, I thank Thee for salvation,
grace so mighty and so free;
Take my all in consecration,
glorify Thyself in me.

SHE ONLY TOUCHED THE HEM OF HIS GARMENT
(Click to hear music)

A woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years,
came behind Him, and touched the hem of His garment.
Matthew 9:20

Words & Music: George F. Root (1820-1895)

She only touched the hem of His garment
As to His side she stole,
Amid the crowd that gathered around Him,
And straightway she was whole.

Refrain
Oh, touch the hem of His garment!
And thou, too, shalt be free!
His saving power this very hour
Shall give new life to thee!

She came in fear and trembling before Him,
She knew her Lord had come;
She felt that from Him virtue had healed her,
The mighty deed was done.

Refrain

He turned with “Daughter, be of good comfort,
Thy faith hath made thee whole!”
And peace that passeth all understanding
With gladness filled her soul.

Aaaahhhh PAT ... This is so very true.  May we always remember to face the wind in order to fly higher....

Thank you for the devotional today.  Y'all have a great night/morning ... rest of the day.  I'll see you later.

I'd also like to ask for prayer since there is a person coming to this area whom I have never met but is referred to me by another person with whom I have only slight acquaintance.  I said I'd meet this person for lunch ... but I will not invite her to my home.  I feel, sometimes, that people try to take advantage just because I knew their parents or because I'm a christian and an acquaintance .... Did Jesus ever say we needed to be stupid about such things?  I said I'd meet this person for lunch but nothing about inviting her into my home.   God, please give me wisdom and boldness to do Your will.........[/b]

HOLLAND 11.23 AM

I never cease to be amazed
                                     By wonders God has planned...
The rising sun, the morning dew...
                                     It's the work of a Master's hand.

                                     Such perfect system of control;
                                     Every month, sweet array,
Some different kinds of flowers bloom...
God planned it all that way.

For in the early days of Spring,
                                     The bright forsythias grow,
And in June sweet roses come,
                                      In Autumn pumpkins glow.

And when cold weather comes our way,
I glance up at the sky
And see formation of the birds
As to the south they fly.

It's just a fool who could deny
                                   This power through our land.
                                       I am amazed, but realize
                                  It's the work of a Master's hand.

I totally missed yesterday and wanted to come by quickly before my morning devotions.

Jane, I hear your prayer and will pray with you.  When you live alone it is just common sense to meet strangers in an area that is public and safe.

Pat, thanks for the morning devotion...I'm looking forward to your proverb of the day.

Janet, how excited you must be going to Thailand :)  I am glad you and Darryl get to go all those different places together.

Ria,   I am sorry to hear about your heart.  Keep us posted.  Take care of yourself :)

A blessed day to all....kathy :)

Good morning, friends,

I justs had a nice wake up call. My son from the UK has phoned and plans at his end have changed enough that I may be able to go there this autumn after all!

So, I'll be speaking with my boss about this today and will report later.

Who knows? Maybe I can have tea  with Jenny!

Y'all have a good day. Brrrrr - it's chilly here in Nashville - had to turn on a bit of heat this morning.

Pat:  Thank you for the story about touching the hem of his garment.

Janet:  It sounds like a winner trip to me!  As for Beth not going to a store, I just think that there are too many regulations and sorry to hear that news.  No common sense! If I were you, it might be good to research this and find out just what is allowed and not allowed - from the regulatory source as well as look into other sources of information - never trust just one opinion.  (Doubting Carol - who is not doubtful about the Lord)

Good Morning: Pat that is a wonderful devotion today aobut the sitting at te the hem of Jesus garment.

Janet, doing Beth's shopping is part of the job of her home care worker.  Here we just don't tell them that we are taking the client with us to the store. Every thing that the client needs is worked out into minutes and hours that the guidleines call for that particular task to be done. I just found out recently that the time spent waiting for the client in a doctor's ofices do not count and that we are not supposed to be paid for that time. Also that if I took the client to the store that her hours would be cut because that is something she is doing for herself, even thought she is riding in the scooter and pointing to what she wants, and I am doing the  picking and carrying of the goods. All part of the system.

Today I am vacuuming my living couch and chair to make sure all the dog hair is gone, Savannah and Forest are coming to spend the night.

It is amazing when you turn into the wind, Yes you go higher, but the flying is harder.  But the outcome for the greater reffort is well worth the turn.  God alwlys turns the bad things into Glory for Him.

Thankyou Pat for the devotional.

Janet ~ I wish I could remember where one of our ministry teams went in Thailand.  But it does seem that it was near two other countries.  The missionary that our church supports is Rick Waldron.  I know he has a church and an adoption agency somewhere there and has a Christian camp ground north of the church.  Another missionary there has a deaf ministry there.  His name is Dwayne Liebrant.  Small world.

Marilyn ~ I had to smile when you said your church is showing a DVD of 'The Passion of the Christ' and will be having refreshments AFTERWARD.  When I saw the movie in the theater, it was packed...every seat taken...and no one was eating anything or getting up.  Everyone was mesmerized.  I don't think I could eat a thing while watching the movie.  Which reminds me....I have the VCR of the movie and haven't opened it yet.

NARDS......GET WELL QUICK!!!!!

Karma ~ Tell Nards to mind the doctor.  Sounds like he has a kidney or bladder infection.  I am first name basis with my Urologists and all the nurses.  I see them every three months.  But, then, I have bladder cancer.  I am praying that Nards has a nasty ol' infection and that is all.  How about some pictures of TAS???

Larry ~ Will this drive on the interstates be a one time deal or will you have to make several trips for the seed implants?  I drove those interstates once....that is enough.

Jane ~ What great news!!!!  I am so glad that Bry is with his Mom and it sounds like he is doing great!!!  As for the Krispy Kremes...last Saturday while I was watching Bands of America National Competition at the RCA Dome in Indy, across from where I was sitting was a big sign ad of Krispy Kremes...and I am on a diet!!!

Sue ~ I have been hot-natured for years.  But since I have been on this diet, my body chemistry has changed and I am cold!!!  I can't seem to get used to it.  I am covered from head to toe and still chilled so I put on another layer.  I think I need some of your new sweaters...of which I don't have any.  Just sweats!!!

Jane ~ About inviting people to your home....I have that feeling when I have repair people come to my home.  I usually have Ivalou or Jerry come to my house at the same time...at least, the first time.

Ria ~ Love your poem for today!!  Beautiful...just like the sunshine God is giving me outside my windows today.

Ruth Ann ~ My, it seems CPers are traveling over ponds.  Janet to Thailand and you to England.  That is great.  Hope your plans go forth.

Janet and Marilyn ~ I volunteered in my old county with the Human Relations Center.  I visited the home bound.  They had services that would take people to the doctor, the hospital and to the grocery but not to other stores, visiting family, yard sales and to get their haircuts.  I could do that.  I really enjoyed taking them out to see Christmas lights, too.

Hi JudyB!!!!  How are you guys doing way up there to the north?

Again it is bright and sunny here but cold.  Sunshine always makes one feel happier and better.

Morning!

The weather is nice here, Pat.  A little windy but at least its a warm wind.  I can deal with that.  hehe

I have a ton of stuff to do.  Bill paying day. Yuck. ;)

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Soni

karmat

Hello and good morning all!

Nards went to work today (against my better judgement and opinion), but he said he felt some better.  After just antibiotics last night, he was already "clearing up," so hopefully, it is "just" an infection.

If he is still feeling better, we will be able to go to Camden, SC tomorrow for the air show.  I hate for Travis to miss it.  The child is absolutely crazy about airplanes.  I do need to post some pics of him don't I.  I'll see what I can do this weekend.

It is a sunny cold day here in WNC.  I think Fall is finally here, maybe part time anyway.  Lots of years, we've already had snow by now.

Well, I've got some work to do (laundry anyone?), so I had better sign off.

Have an awesoem day!

uiba

Good morning.  My part of the world is cool and hazy today, it's supposed to rain, snow in the higher elevations, for the next three days.

@JANE (Walker) - I had to smile at your question, "Did Jesus ever say we needed to be stupid about such things?"  I've asked that question often.  I don't know the answer, but for myself, I think that Jesus would want me to be smart and careful about such things.  I think God gave me my brains and my instincts, and I better use them to His glory.  Being taken advantage does not further His cause, it just makes me grumble.  I guess this is not going to help.  Anyway - I hope your lunch with this person is enjoyable and that you make a new friend, and then, when the time is right, you can invite her to your home.

Boy, do I sound stuffy or what.

I am taking a photography class over the net on "Image Design".  I am enjoying it tremendously, although I don't think my pictures are getting any better :)  Anyway.  Right now we're working on "frame within the frame".  One classic example would be pictures from Arches National Park in Utah, where there's a picture of a distant rock formation through the hole of another rock formation.  I need to come up with 3 examples of frame within frame, and am having a terrible time finding any :)  Oh well.

Sonifo

Ursula, I don't think your pictures could get any better.  You ROCK!

uiba

Well, Soni, that's what I think about YOUR pictures.  I look at mine, and I think, "Man, that's bad!  I gotta get better!".

Spiritual Warfare and Sin: Don't Suffer Shipwreck

This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies
previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good
warfare, having faith and a good conscience, which some having
rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck....
--1 Timothy 1:18-19

Yet the ministry is one of the most perilous of professions. The
devil hates the Spirit-filled minister with an intensity second only
to that which he feels for Christ Himself. The source of this hatred
is not difficult to discover. An effective, Christ-like minister is
a constant embarrassment to the devil, a threat to his dominion, a
rebuttal of his best arguments and a dogged reminder of his coming
overthrow. No wonder he hates him.

Satan knows that the downfall of a prophet of God is a strategic
victory for him, so he rests not day or night devising hidden snares
and deadfalls for the ministry. Perhaps a better figure would be the
poison dart that only paralyzes its victim, for I think that Satan
has little interest in killing the preacher outright. An
ineffective, half-alive minister is a better advertisement for hell
than a good man dead. So the preacher's dangers are likely to be
spiritual rather than physical, though sometimes the enemy works
through bodily weaknesses to get to the preacher's soul.  God Tells
the Man Who Cares, 90-91.

"Lord, the battle is intense and the enemy is strong. I pray for
every one of my fellow-servants this morning, especially those who
may be close to succumbing. Give Your great grace and victory
today. Amen."

Hi everyone.  We have an absolutely glorious day here in Georgia.  It is cooler, only in the lower 60s, but as clear as a bell and very low humidity.  It is suppose to stay that way into next week.

We had an uneventful trip this morning over to the hosptial area and I had the ultrasound test performed.  That took about 5 minutes but the driving took two hours.  I will be going to this same location on Dec. 14th to have the seed implants.  Our son is planning on taking us that day so my wife won't have to drive back home.  Etta Sue, other than for a followup visit I won't have to make that trip but once more that I am aware of.  Had I had to have the extended radiation I would have had to make it every weekday for 6 or 7 weeks so was glad that wasn't a part of my treatment plan.  The oncologist didn't feel that was necessary, at least at this time.

Chris, we have certainly seen some examples of satan attaching ministers with some very public disgraces over the years.

Ursula, I think your photos are great just the way they are.  I detect that you are probably a much harder critic of your own work than of anyone elses.  However, glad you are enjoying your photo course.  I know that we can always learn.

Karmat, do hope you are able to attend the air show and that you, Nards, are feeling much better.  Infections can certainly drag us down.  Are you taking Cipro?  I have taken that 3 or 4 times but unfortunately it didn't turn out to be an infection in my case.

Sonja, can I send you some of my bills for you to pay--running a bit short this month. ;D  Do hope Zachery is feeling better by now.

Carol, I agree with you on the regulations.  I think a convenient memory lapse about such trips might be in order when the health care worker comes by.  Janet, sure hope that you won't be prevented from getting Beth out when she feels up to it.  Sometimes just a little change of scenery does us as much good as another pill.

Janet, your trip to Thailand sounds very nice and interesting.  Sure hope you don't keep your resolution about not posting as much as I always read what you write, even if I don't always respond to it.  The last few days I just haven't wanted to write much although read all of the postings.

Ruth Ann, I certainly hope your trip to England works out to your satisfaction.  Know your son must be excited about the prospect of your visit.  Does he get here to see you very often?

Jane, it sounds like Bryan is where he needs to be at this time and it is good that he has a plan in mind when the time in Mexico is completed.  Know you must be relieved to know he is in his mother's care at the moment.  Hope your luncheon meeting goes well.  You are certainly wise to be cautious.

Pat, thanks for the devotional and for the poppies in remembrance of November 11th.  We should never forget the sacrifices of those who gave their lives in the world wars.

Sarah, hope you win your game tonight and that you didn't get called out last night.

Marilyn, we have the Dollar Tree stores here in Georgia and I shopped in one for the first time a week or so ago and thought they were better than the Dollar General stores.  It is nice of you to help Fay out.

Sue, it sounds like you are getting all prepared for a cold winter with those 3 new sweaters.

Kathy Ria, and  JudyB I read your postings.  Hope you both and everyone visiting with us later today has a great evening.

Janet

"The best-laid plans of mice and men gang oft aglay!"   ;D  I had planned what I was going to do today, but Darrel said "Let's go to Liberal" and off we went.  Just got home a little while ago.  Our blender broke a couple days ago and dumped an entire container of healthy weight-loss shake on the counter, down the cabinet and on the floor!  So we went to find a new one---got a better one this time; that is, if price means better quality!  ;)

Larry, I din't mean I would be posting less, just spending less time on computer.  I feel I am not using my time as wisely as the Lord would have me do.  I do feel all of you here are friends, and always read everyting in NEM, even when I can't read all the threads on CP.  I am glad your trip to Atlanta went well, and hope the future ones will, as well.  It will be good for your son to take you for the implants, and know he wants to be with you at that time.

Thank you to everyone for the good wishes on the upcoming Thailand trip.  I think it's going to be great!

Yes, I agree about the care people (nurse) not needing to know everything Beth does.  If she is required to be totally homebound, that would mean she couldn't go to church or anywhere except to the doctor!  I don't think that would be healthy.  Marilyn, the only thing the home health people are to do for her is to help her bathe and dress, make her bed, and make sure the area is safe.  (Nothing she can fall over, etc.)  They don't shop for her or anything like that.  That is left to me to do.  I am glad we have a grocery store that will deliver groceries to her when we are out of town; and the Senior Center will deliver a noon meal to her when she wants them to.

I just had a customer call and he wants an estimate on a framing job, got to take care of that.  Have new puppy pics to post, so will come back in a little while.

Janet

Okay!  I have posted three groups of photos, in Photos here, and furry friends.

Nita, the puppies are now posted!  ;D ;D

Liz, I am so sorry I cannot see Amanda's lovely artwork, and I really would like to see it.  For some reason, my computer won't let me see anything posted on Photo Sense.  I know Amanda is very, very talented, and I hope you all continue to encourage her to keep at it.

Time to get off here and start packing!!

Larry, last time I was in the UK was in '98. When my son came home in January of this year, it had been almost 9 years. Quite a long time between visits, so it's really an OCCASION when one of us gets to visit the other.

My boss is ok - told me to "go for it." So, I'll be shopping for good fares.

Anyone have a good link to give me that has reasonable airfares?

I'm here <again>!  I thank you, Kathy, Etta Sue, Ursula, and Larry, for your comments and prayers re: my caution in meeting this person for lunch.  It never happened!   :D  God must've known it wasn't a good thing, or maybe that I would not have the opportunity to show Jesus to her.

It all comes from a lady in Southern California whose parents and my mother were good friends... I knew her parents (mainly her mother) through my Mom, and my youngest sister stayed with them for a while when she was a teen.  After my mother died I kept in touch with her friend, looking her up whenever I was in Sacramento.  Some years after that lady died, her daughter got in touch with me (I was in Oklahoma at the time) saying she just wanted to talk to someone who had known her mother.

I have no idea how she got my current phone number, but she called about a week ago and reminded me how she loved to talk with people who knew her parents.  Wednesday evening she called to tell me a friend was driving to So. California from Seattle and would be passing through my area and it would be nice for us to get together because her friend also had known her parents.....  She said "how about tomorrow."  I replied that I had appointments on Thursday so she said Friday would be good.  I told her I'd meet her friend for lunch and she seemed a bit miffed that I didn't say she could come to my home to visit.  I said to give her my phone number and she could call me when she was in town and we'd meet someplace.

As I said: it never happened!   LOL

RUTH ANN~That's great that you'll be seeing your son for Thanksgiving ... (and maybe even having tea with JENNY???)  How cool is that!! :D

This is what I have been working on all day today.

I need lots of prayer for the Mortgage company to find me a loan that will give me 100% with no down payment. The price will not be as much as they are asking about 1/2 of that is what is still owed on the property and it is an estate sale. All I will have to do is put up a fence around the back yard for the dogs. Just pray that I will be within the will of God on this. That if this is the place he wants me to be everything will fall into place.

Al found the place it is just below his house and there are plenty of blackberries to keep us well supplied in am and cobblers.

Marilyn, it looks good to me.

Today Cornelia and I went to Centennial Park for a picnic. We bought some barbeque sandwiches at a place on the edge of the park. We took our drinks with us. Then we visited the Parthenon. Nashville has the only to scale replica of the Parthenon in Athens. It was first built in 1878 for Tennessee’s Centennial celebration and was later rebuilt in 1920. In recent years a replica of Athena was built inside. It a beautiful building and cultural center and we enjoyed our visit. We have been there many times through the years. Rev 3:14-21
14   "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation.
15   I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!
16   So, because you are lukewarm-- neither hot nor cold-- I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
17   You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
18   I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.
19   Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent.
20   Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
21   To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.

Marilyn, you're getting a blue house?  That's so beautiful!  I think blue is just the prettiest colour for houses.  Our house is painted a weird green, but our neighbours is blue, which is nice, because when I look out of my side windows I see blue :)

I am trying to get that blue house.  If God wants me to have it then I will get it. It is the perfect place. Dogs are allowed, it is rural only about 12 houses in the court maybe less. I love the location on that little hill. about a mile from church and town.Al and
arbeth would be neighbors. It is nice and quite.  I hope I can get it.

PapaJohn thanks for posting that link It is very interesting and beautiful.
