Morning Devotional...

Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and He strengthened me.
Daniel 10:18

What a comfort to know that there is a Man at God's right hand who can be touched with a feeling of our infirmities.

A Man who has traversed the sands of time, and who knew what it was to be a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.

He is able to succor them that are tempted, because His sympathy is born from His direct experience of our human condition, apart from sin.
--W. H. Burnett

He touched me, O he touched me,
And O the joy that floods my soul!
Something happened, and now I know,
He touched me and made me whole.

Shackled By a Heavy burden,
'Neath a load of guilt and shame,
Then the hand of Jesus touched me,
And now I am no longer the same.

He touched me, O he touched me,
And O the joy that floods my soul!
Something happened, and now I know,
He touched me and made me whole.

Since I met this Blessed Savior,
Since he cleansed and made me whole,
I will never cease to Praise him;
I'll shout it while eternity rolls.

He touched me, O he touched me,
And O the joy that floods my soul!
Something happened, and now I know,
He touched me and made me whole.

Good morning all!  'Tis the day to go to your house of worship, listen to a great sermon and to fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ.

One of the ladies in our small group today is baptizing her 9 year old daughter, Shyann, after church.  Then Jerry and I will go out to eat and do some shopping for his birthday.  Then I think he will follow me home to here so he can watch the NASCAR race and be here tomorrow for his big day.

Just rushing about here but wanted to say "Hello" to any who have posted.

Of the two birthdays for today, I think that Tim might pop in later but Lowtekredneck hasn't been here for a long time and his emails now bounce so I don't think he'll be here.

Anyway,

Souls in heaven are more holy but not more secure.
~Robert Murray McCheyne~

Can you give a little more of this writing.  It seems a bit confusing to me...How we cannot be secure in Heaven.

I did a name search on McCheyne but could not get into the books he wrote.

Good Morning everyone, I am so blessed. I thank God everyday, again thank you for your warm reception.

Fast Eddie - the quotation about not being more secure in heaven simply means that once we're in Christ's kingdom during our present life, we are even then eternally secure.  When we get to heaven we become, of course, much more holy - but not any more secure, since we were already secure by His keeping power even on earth.  R. M. McCheyne was one of two Scottish brothers who were preachers in Scotland around the turn of the 19th century.  They were both mightily used of God, and both of them wrote hymns as well.

Hi, friends,

I'm exhausted and scarcely could sleep last night from excitement. Will see y'all in 10 days.

Y'all have a good Thanksgiving and wonderful fellowship with our Saviour.

Spiritual Warfare and Sin: The Seared Conscience

To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and
unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are
defiled.
--Titus 1:15

But when a conscience has become seared, when a man has played with
the fire and burned his conscience and calloused it until he can
handle the hot iron of sin without shrinking, there is no longer
any safety for him.

Paul wrote in his epistle about those to whom nothing is pure any
longer, "but even their mind and conscience is defiled."

Here Paul speaks of an inward corruption, revealed in impure
thoughts and soiled language. I am just as afraid of people with
soiled tongues as I am of those with a communicable disease.

Actually, a foul tongue is evidence of a deeper spiritual disease
and Paul goes on to tell us that those with defiled consciences
become reprobates, something just washed up on the shore, a moral
shipwreck.  Echoes from Eden, 64-65.

"Oh Lord, deliver me from that 'inward corruption.' Guard my mind
and my tongue; convict me of any carelessness or straying. Keep my
conscience alive and active. Lord, I really don't want to end up a
dirty old man, 'washed up on the shore, a moral shipwreck.' Amen."

Hi everyone, it has been a few days since I've posted much of anything.  We've had a team come in to do a widow's banquet and children's ministry seminar.  There were originally 4 ladies scheduled to come.  One of them worked for an insurance company and was made to go to Florida during this time (because of the hurricanes).  One lady was supposed to fly through Moscow to come to Minsk.  Let me tell you that is not what you want to do.  We had shared that you need a transit visa to go through Russia, but this lady thought that she didn't (who am I to tell you what you need to get here).  The only thing that she emailed us was the time her flight was supposed to arrive from Moscow and that she was flying in on Aeroflot.  When we checked with the two airports to try to figure out which one she was flying into here, neither one had a flight arriving when she said it was coming in.  We then checked the airlines and they looked at their passenger list and told us that there was no one with that name on any list that day flying in from Moscow.  What happened?  She had arrived in Moscow, but without the transit visa, they stuck her back on the plane and sent her back to JFK in NY.

Meanwhile I had driven up to Vilnius, Lithuania (3 hours) to pick up the two ladies that were arriving there at 3pm.  They were flying through Paris, France.  3pm came and went, then 4pm, and neither lady came out.  I went to the company and they couldn't tell me if they had made the flight.  I went to another missionary's house there in Lithuania, and they told me that they had missed their flight in France.  They were now flying in at 9:40pm.  So had to kill a bunch of time.  9:40pm I arrived to pick them up, and they arrived, unfortunately without a sign of their luggage.  One lady had to stay in that country to wait for the luggage to arrive, while I drove back with the other one to Belarus.  I arrived home at 3:30am, making it a 21 hour day for me with all the driving.  I had even had several important meetings with the national church leadership concerning other issues that was stressful as well.

Woke up the next morning at 8am after sleeping for 4 hours, and got on the phone to try to find out about the one lady who was sent back to NY.  She had gotten to JFK, then got on a plane almost immediately and went to Frankfurt, Germany and then flew in to Belarus.  The lady stuck in Lithuania waiting for the luggage got stuck there for 2 days until it arrived Friday night.  I drove up Saturday (total of 6 hours driving and another 2 1/2 hours border crossing to go get her and the luggage.

Today though was a fantastic day.  I was really tired.  But we had a service scheduled in a town called Baranovichi.  Preached a message on the difference between "Waiting for Christ's Return (passive) and Watching for Christ's Return (active)."  It was not a 'salvation' message, but when we gave the altar call, 4 young women came forward for salvation!!!!!  and another 15 or so for dedication!!!!

Finally got home at 7pm after a wonderful lunch and afternoon at the young pastor's house giving him some encouragement.  Now I'm resting for the rest of the night.

Blessings all...
Mike

Jesus I Come
(Click to hear music)

Colossians 1:13
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Author:  William T. Sleeper, 1819-1904
Musician:  George C. Stebbings, 1846-1945

Out of my bondage, sorrow, and night,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into Thy freedom, gladness, and light,
Jesus, I come to Thee;
Out of my sickness, into Thy health,
Out of my want and into Thy wealth,
Out of my sin and into Thyself,
Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of my shameful failure and loss,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into the glorious gain of Thy cross,
Jesus, I come to Thee.
Out of earth?s sorrows into Thy balm,
Out of life?s storms and into Thy calm,
Out of distress to jubilant psalm,
Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of unrest and arrogant pride,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into Thy blessed will to abide,
Jesus, I come to Thee.
Out of myself to dwell in Thy love,
Out of despair into raptures above,
Upward for aye on wings like a dove,
Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into the joy and light of Thy throne,
Jesus, I come to Thee.
Out of the depths of ruin untold,
Into the peace of Thy sheltering fold,
Ever Thy glorious face to behold,
Jesus, I come to Thee.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone from a very rainy and chilly Georgia.  We had a wonderful church service this morning and then went out with 5 friends to our favorite B-B-Q place and had a wonderful meal and a great time visiting.  Now am listening to the hymns Pat posted today and the music reminds me of the piano music our organist plays before the worship service each Sunday.  She improvises and adds lots of runs and it is just beautiful.

Last evening we went to a special program at our church.  There are two young men, Ted and Lee, who are playwrights and they have toured for 8 years presenting plays, done with humor, telling the Bible stories.  This was aimed at our young people but the 6 seniors who were present enjoyed it very much.  They did 4 scences from 2 of their plays.  If you ever have a change to see them it is worth your time, a very positive evening.  Here is a link to their website which tells a bit about them (if you are interested):  About Ted and Lee

Jane, it sounds like you and Nita are having a beautiful day in Oregon.

Sonja, that is a lovely photograph.

Shief, how did you keep all of that straight.  It sounds like those ladies will have a lot of memories from their trip.  Glad it all worked out.  Will they be there for away?  Were these ladies part of your church general staff?

Beth, it sounds like you made the wise decision to stay in and get extra rest today.  Also if it is snowy you sure don't want to be falling in the snow.  Hope you can throw off the crud shortly.

Ruth Ann, doubt that you will see this for away but hope a wonderful trip.  Janet, the same thing goes for you and Darrell.  It sounds like you had a bit of nervous enery with all your cleaning.

Al, I had the same question that I see Eddie asked so appreciate your explanation.  I thought that was probably what was met.

Happy Birthday, Tim.

Marilyn, of course you were missed.  I look forward to seeing your PSP results as been a while since I looked at them.  Doesn't it stagger your imagination how someone can just void your timecard because they made a mistake.  I imagine that person gets paid on time.

Logar, Chris, Etta Sue, Nards, and Judy it was good to see you posting.

Janet

??? ??? ??? I posted in here a couple of hours ago, now it isn't here any more!  Hmmm.....did I say something I shouldn't have?  Well, I will repeat most of it anyway, and if it goes away, it goes away!  (I promise I didn't say anything bad. :-\)

Mike, what a time you have had, trying to get everyone to where they were supposed to be!  I wonder how many untold hours are wasted, not to mention the gas, making just such trips each year, only to find the party one went to pick up, hasn't arrived.  But may God continue to bless you in His service.  When is your family leaving Belarus to come home for Christmas?  I imagine the excitement is growing!

Jane and Nita, you are so blessed to be living close to the ocean, as are Al and Marilyn.  I'm sure you know by now that I love the ocean and all its "critters" too!

Yes, Larry, that's probably what that cleaning spurt yesterday was all about--nervous energy.  I imagine if Abby hadn't been here, it would have been even more so.  I love reading about your various activities involving music, and know that is a great love of yours.  I love music, but unfortunately never had the opportunity to even learn to read music.  But I still love to sing---or maybe make a joyful noise unto the Lord!

Pat, are you gonna miss me?  ;)  I will miss our chats on Yahoo.  I read that there are many Internet Cafes in Thailand, so maybe I will have a chance to check in.  My young friend Joe works in an internet cafe.  Today Mark (grandson) gave me some mementos to give to Joe.  I hope we can also meet Joe's parents.  His father is a policeman, his mother is a teacher.

Marilyn, you must have more patience, time, or perseverance than I do, to get those PSP lessons done!  I probably have forgotten all I learned by now.

I think my sister will be inviting Beth for Thanksgiving, if Beth is feeling up to going.  She does need to get rid of the cold or whatever, as she's doing so well now, and we want that to continue.  Hi, Beth!  I love you!

I took a couple of photos of Abby and George yesterday, and wanted to leave home with an empty card in my camera, so I unloaded them and posted them under Dog-gone puppies with the other ones, if you'd like to take a look.

Ruth Ann, in my missing post, I wished you once again a WONDERFUL trip!  Be blessed!

See you all later!

Interesting site, Larry.  Awesome way to spread God's word to all ages.

Janet

I just posted the photos, and I found my missing post!  When I clicked on Soni's thumbnail, I didn't realize I was taken to the Photos Here thread, and that's where I posted.  So I modified it in there.  Great photos, Soni!

We are going to take puppy over to Beth's soon, and go to bed as early as we think we can go to sleep.  Tomorrow we will be traveling for about 25 hours!  :o  The countdown is...........eleven hours till we leave! ;D ;D

Janet It took me 7 weeks to finish 5 weeks of PSP lesson. It isn't that I have the patience or the time. I think it was God that got me through those classes.

Can anyone tell me how to go about searching for the address of my former Brother in law? I have called information and his phone is unlisted,. All the other sites I have tried wan money to give me the address. Does anyone know of a site that will give me the address without me paying for it? If you do please email me the link. I really do not want to ask Gilbert's mother in law to  give it to me. I know she got it for Gilbert, I knw what the address is, but I want to see if it is on the internet and if he has an email address. HELP. Please.

Amazing Love
(Click to hear music)

My Lord what love is this?
That paid so dearly
That I, the guilty one, may go free.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

And so, they watched Him die
Despised and rejected
But oh, the blood He shed, flowed for me.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

And now, this love of Christ
Will flow, like rivers
Come wash, your guilt away, And live again.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

I sure hope that both of our travellers will have such a great time away.  Ruth Ann to England and Janet to Thailand.  We're going to miss BOTH of you so very much.  Imagine two of our moderators away and another two with internet access problems!  Oh, dear!  Yes...You both are going to be missed.

Yes, Marilyn, you deserve a lot of credit getting the PSP lessons done.  You'll use these things you've learned I know and hopefully, we'll see some nice graphics in here as you practice more and more.

Very interesting site, Larry.  I'm so happy that you're keeping better too.

Frosty in Oregon, Jane?  I thought you just got rain.  Does it get really really cold there?

Beth, I'm sure that you'll be in someone's nice home for Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday.  Just concentrate sweetie on getting better and getting rid of that awful cold.

Chris, Dr. Tozer's devotional series right now sure are wonderful.  The prayer at the bottom just hit me between the eyes so to speak!

"Oh Lord, deliver me from that 'inward corruption.' Guard my mind and my tongue; convict me of any carelessness or straying. Keep my conscience alive and active. Lord, I really don't want to end up a dirty old man, 'washed up on the shore, a moral shipwreck.' Amen."
