JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Psalm 103:1

Contained in this little word "bless" is the thought of praise, gratitude and affection.

We can be so right in our theology and scriptural correctness, but without love and affection it becomes clinical and cold. It should be the warmth of our love that activates our service and obedience.

How the Lord appreciated Peter when he simply said, "Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee."
--Brian Russell

Lord, it is my chief complaint
That my love is weak and faint;
Yet I love Thee and adore--
O for grace to love Thee more!

Brrrrrrrr.......all this snow talk.  Yes, Soni, you need to do some snow pictures.  I doubt very much we'll get snow here on the coast.  Not unheard of, but not our normal winter.  It's always such a treat for the kids who can't go to the mountains.....to get snow right here at this level.

The ladies gathering was such a blessing today.  The teaching was on communion and the scriptures used were 1 Corinthians 11:27-31.  You don't hear much teaching on verse 30.  In fact, I've never heard one sermon on this.   Do you believe Paul means it exactly as worded?

(29)"For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgement to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. (30) For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. NKJ

The Word is so rich, so very much our life.  The living Word, as Joyce said, is our Friend, our Lord, our Salvation Giver.  I could never know Him in the depth that would satisfy me.....not until I see Him face to Face.  And I don't think we could ever stop gleaning from the deep things God has given us in His written Word.  Sometimes I am simply and absolutely overwhelmed with the knowledge of what He has given us....and is giving us.....and will give us.  How can He loves us so?
Tonight I feel Him so near.

One of these days He will appear in all His Glory and wonder of wonders, we will be like Him.  I can't help but cry with joy.  Can you imagine?  I can't.  I can dream, but I know that my wildest dreams, and deepest longings can never touch that Reality.  But I will keep on looking and waiting, and with God's grace, have my lamp burning brightly at His coming.

I'm thinking of the song "We shall Behold Him".

My puppies are ready for wrestling intervention, and that's my job...so guess I'll hush and get to them.   Back.  Kim is feeding them now, and all three are standing on hind legs.  So cute....

Good night, dear Body of Christ.   love, Nita

Good morning everyone, when I contemplate how wonderful God has been to me; I am in awe of his grace. I was saved through his grace; it wasn’t because of anything I ever did. I take no credit in my evolution into Christianity through the second birth. If any human gets that credit, it would have to be my Mom she prayed hard for me. I say this to you a righteous mother's prayer is a powerful prayer. I could never express how thankful I am for her prayers and God’s grace.

A Christian truly is the highest form of  man.

Nita, after reading your post, I started to sing "Until Then".  So I thought I'd post it for all to sing with me.

Until Then

(Click to hear music)

Words and music by Stuart Hamblen

My heart can sing when I pause to remember
A heartache here is but a stepping stone
Along a trail that's winding always upward,
This troubled world is not my final home.

Chorus
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there, will only bring a smile.

Chorus
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

This weary world with all its toil and struggle
May take its toll of misery and strife:
The soul of man is like a waiting falcon--
When it's released, it's destined for the skies.

Chorus:
But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

AMEN LOGAR!

What a lovely post.  How important it is for us to remember that!  Some of us have grandchildren that may be drifting and how important it is for us to pray for them DAILY!

What a wonderful Father we have, Logar.  Thanks for your post this morning.  It's really encouraged me.

You guys sure know how to encourage someone with all your thanks for the devotion I posted yesterday to open a NEM.  Now I am looking forward in posting others.

Raining here.  Trash day.  Carried the umbrella to take out the trash.  Suppose to turn to snow sometime tonight or early in the moring.  Glad I only need to walk 70 steps from my door to Ivalou's door for Thanksgiving Dinner.

For all of you who are traveling over this holiday, I pray that God gives you travel mercies and keeps all of you safe and those who are in your traveling path safe as well.

Marilyn

Good Morning. I got my baking done yesterday for thanksgiving Dinner at gilbert's house. I made  My grandmother's apple cake and 2 Chocolate Mousse cheescakes, one for me and one for them.

I was also able to get in touch with my ex BIL who then called me tice yesterday and he also called Gilbert. That was a blessing.

Hope you all have a great day.

Boy, that baking sure sounds delicious, Marilyn.  I especially like the sound of the apple cake.  Is the recipe in our recipe section?

Pat:  Lovely song - "Until Then".  Thank you for all your good works.

Marilyn:  I can't start my cooking until tomorrow morning.  The DIL's and daughter will bring all of the desserts, salads, rolls and much more.  Chocolate mousse.  Yum.  I am happy for you that you are living closer to Gilbert and his children.

My mother died on Thanksgiving Day and I vowed to never be alone after that - I just want lots of life around me and Thank You Lord for all the children live within driving distance - at least for now.  With job insecurity for several, it may happen some day that they must leave.  I hope to be strong about that as well.

Have a Thankful Day.
Carol

karmat

Hi all!!  Posting from the public library.  Phones are out again.

Just wanted to pop in, but probably won't be around for  a few more days.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!!!

Karma, from the communicationally disabled Shuford household (we're down to just cell phones, now :-()

Nita

Pat, thanks for that beautiful song, We Shall Behold Him.  I'm listening to it as I type.  I couldn't listen to Until Then for some reason.  I tried both browsers and it wouldn't play. :-\  I guess something is wrong in my media config.

Logar...your post was a real encouragement to me.  Thank you.

Karmet.  Ahhh......poor Shufords.  But then again.....a good time for family to communicate.  I remember when the phones would go out, the power too, and we'd use candles and lamps....cook on the wood stove, and tell stories in the flickering light.    I don't know what those with electric heat did....probably went to the houses of those who had oil or wood heat.  Happy Thanksgiving you and your family.

I'm having a very simple dinner.....just Kyle, my grandson, and I.  I don't want to fix a lot of things he won't eat, and I shouldn't eat....so it'll be really pared down.

Marilyn, I usually make apple cakes every year and freeze them.  My husband used to love my apple cake, and now my son in law says the same.  He says I ought to sell them. haha  I don't think they're that good at all, but it feels good to have someone continuing the apple cake tradition.  This year, I didn't freeze any.  I still have apples on the trees, but trying to cut carbs and calories, I didn't want them in my freezer. haha     Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Also, Marilyn, I'm so glad you were able to get hold of your ex, Bill.  I could tell that was important to you.

Carol.  I'm glad you'll have lots of family around you.  And if they ever have to leave your area, then we'll pray that God prepare your heart ahead of time.  I have my family close, and can't imagine them away.  One daughter is in Arizona, but my youngest daughter and son live right here near me.

Well, our travelers are all on the road.  Lets see....Ruth Ann, Janet, Jane.  Janice?  Who else?  I need to remember to keep them in prayer as they travel in this weather and season.   I just know that Janet will come back so blessed.

Primrose, hurry and get better so you can be with your aunt tomorrow. ok?

Got a phone call coming in so better run and take it.  love to all, Nita

Hi everyone.  I feel so much better today that I didn't have to lay down to rest right after lunch so able to stop by earlier today.  We have had so much rain the last couple of days but think maybe the worst of it is over.  We had about 4 1/2 inches yesterday and some more today.  Pat has been busy in the kitchen all morning fixing the pumpkin pie, jello salad and some other items as we start the preparations for tomorrow afternoon.

Happy Birthday, Janice.
Sarah, it sounds like you are sure getting a lot of snow so suppose it is snowing where Beth and Janet live as well.

Nita, your apple cake sounds very good.  I usually eat an apple for lunch several times a week and Delcious are my favorties.  Of course I also like any type of apple I find in an apple pie!  ;D

Sorry to see that Karma and Nards are without phone service again and expect they are getting some of this heavy rain here in the Southeast United States.

Carol, I certainly understand your commen concerning having family around.  My wife lost her mother on Christmas Eve many years ago.  We had a house full of company and it was a difficult time for us but the company helped.

Marilyn, so happy to see you are going to Gilbert's to be with family tomorrow.  Your baking sounds good.

Etta Sue, that is sure a pretty graphic you have in your posting.  Did you do it with Paint Shop Pro?  The colors are so bright.  Hope you don't get too much snow tonight and have to scoop a path.

Logar, your comments today are sure right on.  I was also blessed with a praying mother and grandmothers.

Pat, the song is beautiful and I have listened to it several time in a row as I have been reading and typing.  I also appreciated the devotional.

Well, guess I had better get on to some other things.  I will try to stop back by this evening as expect to be home.

Good morning, Everyone!

Happy Birthday, Janice:-* :-*

We woke up to more snow this morning.  I sure hope my hubby put the truck in 4wheel drive, cuz yesterday I was all over the place.  I am thinking we should get studded tires.  Should help get around better on the ice.

NO snow would be great here too, Nita.   ;D  Sounds like you will have a wonderful little Thanksgiving. The less food means less dishes.  ;) :D  Enjoy!

Larry, I can almost smell the delicious flavors coming from your house. < :P <-- soni licking her lips> Glad you are feeling a bit better.

Marilyn and Carol, what fun.  Having family around is wonderful during the holidays.  Don't eat to much. hehehee...  :D

Karma, glad to see you posting.  I can't imagine not having a good internet connection. :-\  Must be frustrating.  Hope all is well for your family.  Give Travis a  :-* for me.  ;D

Very nice "hello graphic", Etta Sue!  You always have something good up your sleeve.  ((hug))

Great devotion, Pat.  What are your plans for this week?  Seems wierd that we are all celebrating and you Canada folks aren't.  :-\  :)

Hello, Logar!  Glad to see you jumping right in and posting.  It is good to hear your inspiring words.

We are heading South for Thanksgiving to my parents house.  We should be home by Saturday night.  I might be popping in to say hi.

I hope you all have a wonderful full filling  ;) ;D Thanksgiving!  (((hug))) to all! :-*

Spiritual Warfare and Sin: Seek God's Remedy

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not
sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus
Christ the righteous.
--1 John 2:1

I wish it were possible to anoint the head of every Christian
preacher so that he would never sin again while the world stands.
Perhaps some would consider that a happy way to deal with the
subject. But, in fact, if any person can be removed from the
possibility of sin, he or she can only be some kind of a robot run
by pulleys, wheels and push-buttons. A person morally incapable of
doing evil would be, by the same token, morally incapable of doing
good. A free human will is necessary to the concept of morality. I
repeat: If our wills are not free to do evil, neither are they free
to do good....

But what was the sinning priest to do? Should he give up to
discouragement? Should he resign himself to failure? No! There was
a remedy. And what about ministers and all of God's servants today?
In a time of temptation and failure, should they simply quit? Should
they write a letter of resignation and walk out, saying, " I am not
an Augustine or a Wesley; therefore, I give up"? No, if they are
aware of what the Word of God says, they will seek God's remedy.
Tragedy in the Church: The Missing Gifts, 75-76.

"Thank You, God, for Your glorious remedy! Thank You for Your love;
thank You for Your grace; thank You for constant forgiveness in
Jesus Christ. Amen."

Pat, thanks for the devotional this morning.

QuoteWe can be so right in our theology and scriptural correctness, but without love and affection it becomes clinical and cold. It should be the warmth of our love that activates our service and obedience.

1 Cor 13:1-3
1   If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
2   If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3   If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.  (NIV)

Tomorrow we are going to our daughter’s, Rachel, for our Thanksgiving dinner.  Cornelia is cooking the turkey and also making some pies.  We have been so wonderfully blessed and we have so many things to be thankful for.  “God is so good to me.”

Phil 4:6  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  (NIV)

It is good to see all of you today.  I hope all of you have a good day tomorrow and for those of you who live in other countries every day is a day of thanksgiving.

Nita

Yes, Pat.  I forgot to say that to you. :)  I had meant to thank you.

Papa John, God doesn't leave any doubts about this, does He?  If our hearts aren't filled with His love, we are not filled at all.  You can read these scriptures and see where His heart rests in all this.  LOVE.....and He expects his children to love also.  Thanks for posting this.  I always enjoy your posts.

And Larry....glad you had more energy today.  Still.....it's good to take naps.  I sure like mine. lol

Chris, thanks for posting Tozer for us.

sarah....don't go getting sick. ok?  Poor Dominic.

Marilyn, you have a digital camera.  You should take a close up of your nails for us. :)

Pat, I'm clicking on the ads.  Earlier I noticed one of those weird ones....something about discounted bible prayer.  Funny how they just use certain words and stick them in to make you go to a site.  I didn't click.   I'm heading to do more.  If we can help support ourselves here by just clicking on an ad.....that's easy. ;D

We had a car wreck here today.  Four teenagers.  An 18 year old girl in the front passenger side was killed.  The car caught fire and she was trapped.  Oh, how terrible.  The driver and two others, I think it was three, were taken to the hospital.   I feel such sorrow for her family.  So much pain in this world. The roads were slick from the rain, and they went across the line and hit a pickup.  I don't know if speed was an issue, but it could have been.  So sad.....

I am so grateful that on this side, or on the other,, I belong to the Lord, and most of my family does.  I'm praying, with my mama and gramma heart.....for the salvation of all my family.  God is good.

g'night all.  love, nita

Ruthie

Hi Everyone, sorry I haven't been on CP for a while.   I have been very busy and I have a cataract that is ready to come off.  The computer is not good for it and only makes it worse.  I will be visiting earlier tomorrow.   Hope everyone is well.

Love Ruthie
The Lord is my light and my salvation Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Kathy

Like Ruthie, I have not been on the computer for a week or so.   I think my time just gets swallowed up and I cannot find my way here to the computer before I get too sleepy.

Tomorrow is going to be great here.  We'll have a hodge podge of friends and family with everyone bringing something.  I get to cook the turkey, the ham, corn and collards.  There will be so much food we will be abundantly blessed.  It is truly a day of thanksgiving when we can all return thanks to our Father for our many, many blessings.

I pray all of you enjoy the day tomorrow. :) :) :)

Janice

Hello everyone.  Thanks for the birthday wishes, I loved the one you made, Pat.  Such beauty!  I have had a nice day, though busy getting things ready for our trip Friday.
Nita, that is so sad about the accident that killed the girl.  I lost a nephew in the summer in a similar accident.  Both vehicles hydroplaned on a slick rainy highway, and it was a head-on.  He was 18 as well, so devastating for the family.
I hope all of you enjoy your day tomorrow.  Good night, and God bless.  Love, Janice
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24
